Lacto Calamine Lotion Review- Classic and Aloe

Lacto Calamine Lotion Review- Classic and Aloe

I have been using Lacto Calamine from the last 4-5 years and can easily say its my HG..it is one product I cant live without. I have three of these right now too :p
I have used both the Classic (normal to oily skin one) and Aloe Moisturiser (dry to normal skin one).I will state the ingredients and exact difference between both of them. It is a light pink lotion with medium consistency.

LC Aloe Moisturiser :

What the Company claims : Skinsurance. Daily use formula with Kaolin and Special Moisturisers. Discover Skinsurance for dry skin. 1. Moisturisation 2. Protection 3. Dead skin removal  4. Acne Control. Apply everyday for soft, clear skin.

MRP : same

Ingredients : Aqua, Light Kaolin, Sorbitol soln 70%, Propylene Glycol, glycerine, Aloe Vera gel, Castor oil, Zinc Oxide, Zinc Carbonate, Simethicone, emulsifiers, preservatives, perfume and permitted colors. (highlighted ingredients different from classic)

Directions : same

Pros:

1. Clay, Glycerin and Aloe all are beneficial for the skin.
2. Keeps oil and shine at bay and does reduce acne with regular use.
3. Is tinted..so can be used daily to even out skin.
4. Reduces redness and soothes skin.
5. Helps in burns, insect bites, etc
6. It does help in dead skin removal and nourishment..I use it regularly but skipped it during my exams as I had no time at all…and my skin had gone all haywire…and with its regular use again it came back to normal. I just swear by this. This is the best thing ever made for me :p
7. Helps with cleaning up any makeup mistakes..I just dab some LC on a Q tip and clean out any mess..whether eye liner, lip liner or smudgy kohl..this cleans it off lightly.
8. Expiry date is 5 years from the date of manufacture..its going to stay long even if you are not a regular user.
9. The small bottle is absolutely travel friendly..you can carry it around anywhere.
10.Economical at this price.

Cons :

1. It is not moisturising enough. It leaves the skin dry and in winters I need a moisturiser over this but in summers I am fine with this. But dry skinned people will obviously need a moisturiser over this.
2. I personally dint find any difference in the Classic and Aloe one except the ingredients.
3. Those who like a dewy effect on the skin would not like this as it gives a matte effect. (I love that :p)
4. If not shaken well…the liquid would separate and that would come out first as it has a wide opening.

Overall rating- 5/5

Would I buy it again- YES..forever and ever ..:D

Do you use LC ? Do you like it ?

  1. Hey Bhumika,

The Lacto Calamine Classic version was a standard feature in my carry bag for almost a year. I had broken out into a bad skin allergy and this was the only product that worked to soothe and calm the skin. I totally understand this being your HG product

    Anamika K, http://www.purebotanicalcare.com

  2. I’m just loving your blogs. lacto Calamine is sooo good. But since my skin is prone to pigmentation and tan I have to use high spf sunscreen. I used lato clalamine and it indeed so nourishes the skin.

  3. I too love lactocalamine though I do not break out but personally I felt that classic was better than aloe even though my skin is normal to dry….I do recommend everyone to keep a bottle at home as it can help with lot of things except breakouts…a different idea as stated by Tanveer too in her blog is to use lactocalamine as an ingredient in face masks….it can replace clay masks and does the exfoliation really well…

  4. Guess wat? even my granny used calamine lotion. I use lacto classic one and its just so awesome, it acts as a base, sunscreen, moisturizer, exfoliator all in one.

  5. It is one of my must-haves as well, and have been using it for years. I prefer the classic, since it’s more matte. The aloe one comes off a bit greasy on my skin, and I have to work harder to blend it in so the shine would go away.

  6. hiii..really liked your post…i have a sensitive skin which gets tanned very quickly..my skin is neither too oily nor dry..i live in India..can i use this lotion or use lacto calamine sunscreen..?? please help

  7. Hi Sahiti..yes you can use this lotion..lacto calamine soothes sensitive skin too..if you get tanned easily you should use a sunscreen too daily especially if you go out often when the sun is high..even I get tanned easily..what I do is use Lacto Calamine first..and then after a few minutes I use the Lotus SPF 50 sunscreen spray..I have reviewed that..you can check..this might help you too..Lacto calamine does not have a sunscreen of their own yet..you can use Lotus or Lakme sun expert..both are nice..I hope I helped you..:)

  8. Hello Bhumika, I guess you can help me. I have normal skin but on my left cheek just below my eye. I get sunburn and nowhere else. I just don’t know what to do. I am frustrated and irritated. I leave in Bangalore, India. Which product would be better for me, kindly advise.

  9. @anon: Do you regularly use a sunscreen? Do you have to spend a lot of time in the sun? If you do then even reapply the sunscreen every 3-4 hours depending on the SPF you use which should be around 40-50 I guess..And you can use lacto calamine to soothe the area..But if the problem persists even after using a sunscreen..then do consult a dermat..:)

  10. Dear Bhumika, I work in night shift as I support US clients so its very rare that I go in sun, but I have observed that the area which I mentioned (on the left cheek, just below the eye) is usually dry and also that area is little darker compare to other skin area of my face. Till now I was not using any sunscreen lotion but now I have started using even when I come in night shift. And I feel my skin type is a combination skin, so T area is normal and the cheeks is little dry. Can you suggest a good moistursiser and which Sunscreen to use

  11. oh ok..Even I am a combi skin..I use Lotus SPF 50 spray when I go out in the sun..or else Lakme SPF 26 or 30..you can try that..and for moisturiser..Neutrogena moisturiser for combination skin is good..and also Fabindia Vitamin E Hydrating cream for oily skin..both are non greasy and light 🙂

  12. Can I ask about expire date .. it is at the bottom of the bottle right .. I recently got one but I am not sure if it is expired or not ..

    ALCD 2001
    AUG. 12
    105.00

That’s at the bottom … the 2001 is not the year right but a code? That is what the seller told me ..

  13. Ya 2001 is not the date..aug 12 is the date..and it can be used till 5 years..
