Wella Kolestint Hair Color Review

Now I was very scared to color my whole hair..though I have got streaks before..I thought of going with streaks again and as mom colors her whole hair…I got basic black for her..see has used various other brands before..

I had got a violet streak before from Lakme salon..which after few months faded to light brown.

I got Plum for streaks..I thought of going with lowlights this time as a streak at the end of hair is IN these days and looks nice with open hair..and here is my experience..

Wella Kolestint hair color pack contains four things..and are named 0 to 3 on them..They have

  • Pre coloration treatment
  • Hair color creme
  • Developer
  • After color Intense Shine Treatment ( Conditioner)
MRP: Rs 519/-

They have a detailed instruction leaflet along and a pair of gloves to color the hair. Here it is in easy language:
Step 1 is to apply the pre coloration treatment.
Step 2 is to mix the color creme and developer in equal qty properly untill they merge.
Step 3 is to apply the color on your hair and let it stay for 40-45 minutes.
Step 4 is to wash off the color with plain water until the water comes out clear.
Step 5 is to apply the after color treatment..keep on for 2 minutes and wash off.

So since I had to get a streak I tied my other hair with a clip..followed the steps and used aluminium foil to cover the streak. If you are coloring whole hair you can directly mix the cream in the developer bottle..but if you are getting streaks..you should mix the required qty in a plastic bowl.
The color is ammonia free and the conditioner is quite good. It overall keeps your hair soft and shiny..but the only problem is the color payoff…it does not match upto the level required.
Some tips for whole hair coloring:
1. If you are coloring your whole hair make sure you wash your hair 2 days before as the natural oils of hair will help coloring better.
2. Apply vaseline or petroleum jelly on forehead and skin around to protect skin from getting colored..
3. Wash off the excess stains on skin immediately after coloring.
4. If you feel any irritation…stop immediately and do not color more and wash off..

For me the plum color did not show up..its hardly visible..for my mom the black worked decent enough but not that completely dark though.
The streak hardly shows up :/
Pros:
1. The color is ammonia free.
2. They have a pre coloration treatment and  after shine treatment which does help keep hair smooth and shiny.
3. Easy to use.
4. Did not cause any allergy or reaction.
Cons:
1. The color does not show up much !!
2. Pricey..if the color would have been great then the price would be still justified.

P.S: Product sent by brand for review but it has not affected my opinion.

  3. oh nice. You know i tried this too.. just reviewed it. 😛 and I think the colour doesn’t show up much. I’m talking about black only.. but as far as plum is concerned, They did mention that if you have dark hair and want to try a lighter colour, you might need to bleach it first.. try that.. hopefully it’ll work. 🙂
