Tips and Toes Hydra Rich Lipstick 14 Plum Blast Review, Swatches
Guest Post by Dev
Hello Everyone,
I always associate Tips and Toes with the inexpensive nail polishes that line the local beauty store counters. So when Tips and Toes came up with their makeup products, I didn’t pay much attention. Then I saw Bhumika’s post on their Press release for the new Hydra Rich lipstick; the idea of selecting a lipstick by sun-sign seemed fun but I didn’t consider buying it as I was in love with Colorbar Velvet Mattes then.
However, my opinion changed when I was checking out some lipsticks at the beauty counter at Saravana stores in Chennai [T Nagar branch] and came across this beauty. I was looking for some hydrating lipsticks to carry on my trip to Toronto, as I’d heard that fall & winter was pretty harsh there. I swatched some shades and was hugely impressed by how creamy it felt and got this shade as berry shades as my safe bet.
About Tips and Toes Hydra Rich lipstick:
Price- INR 350. Available in 14 shades.
Packaging: Black plastic casing with the labels in shiny pink – looks pretty. On the down side, there is no way of identifying the color inside without opening the case.
Brand promises: Creamy lipstick with moisturizing effect [the rest looked like marketing jazz]
My experience:
This is one of the creamiest lipsticks I have tried and also one of the best shades for Fall season. The color applies beautifully and in semi-intensity in a single swipe, which is awesome as it allows the color to be built or left sheerer. I tried this either ways and loved both looks.
On full color, this comes off as a purple-toned wine red shade with a purple sheen. If applied sheer, it shows as a more purple-pink shade. This color would suit most skin tones especially warmer dusky skin tones of us Indian ladies.
However, this is not a lipstick you can wear with a light makeup; this kinda demands a perfect face to go with, to give a classy look. Also I would suggest a neutral eye makeup and bronzer-highlighter combination to go with this color. This would be a great shade for evening wear as well.
There is no harsh scent or taste; however this does not stay very long, averages around 2-3 hours for me. It does leave a nice tint though, but if you like long wearing lipsticks, this may not be one for you.
Pros:
1. Creamy finish
2. Moisturizing – can avoid lip balms [not in Winter though & not if too dry skinned]
3. Good pigmentation and buildable color
4. Shade would suit most skin tones
Cons:
1. Availability – I don’t know where this is available as Tips and Toes don’t have an online store
2. Price- it seems a bit unexpected to see an INR 350-tagged product for Tips and Toes
3. Average staying power – not a con for me as I don’t mind reapplying.
Overall: I would definitely like to buy another deeper shade, may be the red one, especially if I can get them on sale.
