Let’s talk about exfoliation today and why it is essential for your skin. So many people still don’t exfoliate this date and that basically adds layers and layers of dead skin. Our skin goes through a natural shedding process every 30 days or so and if we don’t exfoliate, it would take a long time to shed on it’s own and it also leads to ingrown hair, rough patches, debris and dead skin sitting on the skin’s surface.
Exfoliating regularly helps get rid of the dead skin cells and also helps in faster regeneration of the new layer of skin.
Let’s see some benefits of exfoliation:
Unclogs pores
Removes dead skin cells
Makes skin smooth and supple
Helps get rid of ingrown hair
Helps get rid of uneven tan
Removes the dirt and debris sitting on the skin
Helps in blood circulation
Helps loosen and remove the blackheads
In the long term, also helps in producing collagen keeping skin softer, smoother and wrinkle free
Helps reduce cellulite
So there are numerous benefits of exfoliation and it is the key to a soft, smooth skin.
I have been using and loving the mCaffeine Coffee Body Scrub currently. Coffee is the best ingredient when it comes to body scrubbing/exfoliation.
About mCaffeine: mCaffeine is India’s 1st Caffeinated Personal Care Brand. All of mCaffeine’s products are infused with caffeine. Caffeine being a superfood for hair and skin, it’s an extension to the hyperactive lifestyle and individualistic identity.
All mCaffeine products are SLS-Paraben Free, Vegan, Clinically tested, cruelty free, Made Safe Certified
This scrub has the goodness of both coffee and coconut. Coffee polishes skin, exfoliates, removes tan, dead cells and reduces cellulite. The caffeine in coffee tones the skin and coconut moisturizes and nourishes the skin.
The texture is very fine and not at all harsh, so it is even safe for sensitive skin. It comes with a wooden spoon which helps you scoop out the product. Take some product in your palms, mix with a little bit of water and exfoliate all of your body parts, especially the parts where we tend to get rougher, drier skin like elbows and knees.
It smells absolutely amazing, if you love coffee, the entire bath experience when using the scrub is sensorial and the whole bathroom smells like the Coorg coffee plantation.
I love the ingredients and it leaves the skin super soft post exfoliation, and because of the coconut oil skin feels moisturized and hydrated.
Coffee Body scrubs are gender neutral and this can be used by both men and women. Men need to keep their skin soft too 😀
How often should you exfoliate? I would say once a week is good enough. You will need about 4 spoons of this scrub for exfoliating the entire body, so this tub will last you quite long.
It’s a total value for money at Rs.449/-
Overall, I really like this mCaffeine Coffee Body Scrub and would recommend it.

MRP: Rs.1845/- for 240ml
Ingredients:
All Body Shop hair care products are silicone free. This whole range smells so fresh and citrusy, it’s very refreshing. The shampoo is clear and runny, it foams and cleanses well. The conditioner is thick to dispense from bottle, but it is not heavy or rich in texture. It does not weigh the hair down. If you have very dry hair, this conditioner won’t be moisturising enough for you. But for oily to normal hair, this conditioner is absolutely perfect.
The star of this range is the hair scrub, it’s a thick scrub with salt-like granules. The thick salt settles down, so you need to mix the scrub well before taking it. It is a scrub shampoo, so it even foams as you massage it on the scalp, the salt starts melting. The scrub is not very harsh or abrasive but it cleanses the scalp well and circulates the blood on the scalp. It also removes dirt, build up, etc., but it is a little drying. I would suggest using it once a week, not more than that.
I start with the scrub, then follow it up with the shampoo. Since the scalp is cleansed well with the scrub, the shampoo foams and cleans easily. Finally the conditioner towards the lower half of the hair.

MRP: Rs.2895/- for 350ml
Ingredients:
My favourite product of all these new launches, has to be this body scrub. It’s a clay based scrub with fine exfoliating granules. It is not at all harsh but still scrubs the skin well. This scrub is literally a spa in a jar! It is exactly like the body scrubs they use in spas. When you take the product on your fingers and start massaging it on the body, it feels slightly warm, I believe it heats up on massaging and in contact with the skin. Then it scrubs the dead skin cells really well without even feeling like a scrub. I assumed it would be a little drying since it’s clay based, but it has oils in it, so in turn it leaves the skin moisturized and my skin feels soft like a baby’s bum! Literally. My skin doesn’t crave a moisturizer after using this, even in these winters. I skipped it once, and it felt fine. This is the best body scrub I have used till now, hands down!
It is neither drying not overly rich/oily. It is nothing like those usual oil/sugar/coffee based scrubs! I highly recommend getting this.
Though I loved all the new launches this time, if I have to absolutely pick a few and recommend, I would go with the Grape Seed Body Scrub and the Fuji Green Tea Hair Scrub! I am sure you will love them!
Have you tried any new The Body Shop launches yet?
There are few things as nourishing, relaxing and advantageous for your skin as slathering a rich blend of all-natural ingredients on one’s skin. Nuts ,fruits, herbs… all finely powdered to form an aromatic blend of ‘Ubtan’ is a treat for one’s skin. Not only is one’s skin deep cleansed but also the layer of dead skin cells is exfoliated. Expectations certainly skyrocket when an all-natural Ubtan comes from Patanajali- Baba Ramdev’s pharmacy. It goes without saying that I will review PATANJALI BODY UBTAN today and let you know how it fared for me.
PRICE- Rs 60/- for 100g
DIRECTIONS FOR USE– Add sufficient quantity of water to 20-30 g of Body Ubtan to make a consistent paste. Apply on body. Massage gently. Rinse off with water.
INGREDIENTS- Chironji, red lentil, black gram, barley, mustard seeds, soybean, rice, almond, turmeric and camphor.
WHAT IT CLAIMS- Enhances fairness, imparts glow to skin, reduces dark spots and blemishes.
MY EXPEREINCE-
Packed in a simple plastic pack, Patanjali Body Ubtan’s packaging is somewhat disappointing. Why? Once cut open, the contents need to be transferred to a container because 100 g cannot be used in one go. Storing it in the pack in which it comes makes it prone to contamination as well as spillage. While the argument that it costs merely Rs 60/- per pack which is dirt cheap is admissible yet the provision of a zipper pack would have altogether eliminated all these woes once and for all. Hence, there is room for improvement as far as packaging is concerned.
The ubtan is predominantly fine with few coarse granules. They aren’t harsh or abrasive. So, do not fret that your skin will redden on slathering/massaging it. I think it can be conveniently mixed with rose water, raw milk ,curd or any base ingredient for that matter. Adding water is a mere recommendation for the producers which I followed. The paste so obtained has a pleasant and not overpowering aroma. I have used it a number of times and even if kept for more than half an hour, it does not stain your face yellow.
The presence of slightly coarse granules facilitate scrubbing and aid removal of dead skin cells’ layers. Upon removal, my skin looks squeaky clean, deeply cleansed and radiant. It does not suck moisture off one’s skin and that spells cheer for those with dry/excessively dry skin. I can’t comment on its efficacy or the lack of it when it comes to oil removal for oily/excessively oily skin type. Mine is dry and it hasn’t made my skin dry post wash ever. That said, it doesn’t even moisturise it either which I have no issues with because it doesn’t claim to do so.
I find it suitable for use by all skin types. If you are on a shoestring budget, grabbing a few packets of this won’t even pinch you. This one’s a good investment in my humble opinion 🙂
GOOD-
1. Budget-friendly
2. Readily available
3. Deep cleanses skin
4. Does not suck moisture hence, apt for dry and extremely dry skin types
5. Imparts radiance and NOT fairness which is plausible
6. Imparts a squeaky clean feel
7. All-natural composition
8. Apt for use by all skin types
BAD-
1. Packaging needs to be revamped.
RATING-4.5/5
Editor’s Note: This sounds very good Nidhal, definitely in my Patanjali haul list.
The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel, Body Scrub Review
Hi guys,
I have been using The Body Shop British Rose Range Shower Gel and Body Scrub since quite some time now. And here is what I think of it..
The Body Shop British Rose Gel Body Scrub
What the Company claims: Exfoliating feels exquisite with this beautiful gel textured body scrub with real rose petals. Infused with the essence of roses from Britain, it effortlessly melts onto the skin and gently refines to reveal smoother, fresher skin.
– reveals smoother, fresher skin
– fresh dewy gel texture
– with real rose petals
– with the essence of hand-picked british roses
Ingredients:
MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml
The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel
What the Company claims: Awaken your skin with the irresistibly dewy scent of roses. Our cleansing Shower Gel is infused with the essence of hand-picked roses from Britain to make showering feel blooming beautiful.
– Soap-free cleanser
– Rose scented and Lather rich
– With the essence of hand-picked British roses
Ingredients:
MRP: Rs.450/- for 250ml
First of, I love the entire light pink and black packaging of this range. It looks fabulous, plus the British Rose range is so delicate and fresh.
The body scrub comes in a black tub plastic packaging. It is a gel based scrub just like the Virgin Mojito and Fuji Green Tea Ranges. It has soft brown beads for exfoliation which are walnut shell powder, as per the ingredients. And the base is water based and jelly like with a soft pink tint. The smell is amazing, not at all strong, but feminine and soft.
The scrub particles are not harsh and it leaves the skin gently exfoliated. If you expect hard core exfoliation, then this alone won’t do. I would suggest you use this body scrub with The Body Shop Exfoliating Gloves.
The shower gel comes in a transparent bottle with black flip cap. The bottle is plastic and not heavy. The shower gel is thin and runny and has a light pink tint. I absolutely love the smell of this, this smells more of ‘British Rose’ than the body scrub too. It foams well and washes off well, without leaving the skin dry.
I tried using it without loofah and you end up using a lot and it won’t foam enough. So I suggest using it only with a loofah.
This range also has a Bath Foam (if you have a bath tub at home), Body Butter, Hand Cream, Exfoliating Soap and EDT. EDT sadly was out of stock everywhere. I am definitely looking forward to try the EDT once I get my hands on it.
Overall, I would say, I absolutely love the fresh British Rose smell and this range. It is not at all strong or artificial like usual rose scented products are. You can smell the difference in the first whiff. It is soft, feminine and delicate but refreshing. Although the smell doesn’t stay for long with 1-2 products, it would if you use 3-4 products from the range together i.e. along with the body butter and EDT. Highly recommend this range!
Have you tried The Body Shop British Rose Range? What do you think of it?
It’s a metallic silver textured bag and I knew the Sugar Cosmetics Matte Lipstick is a part of the bag coz I saw it on their Instagram page and assumed it would be this brand.
Let’s see what all I got:
Sugar Cosmetics ‘It’s A Pout Time’ Matte Vivid Lipstick in 03 Mad Magenta (Full sized)- Rs.599/-
Wella Professionals Elements Shampoo (30ml)- Rs.175/-
Wella Professionals Elements Conditioner (30ml)- Rs.200/-
Nykaa Strawberries & Cream Nail Enamel (5ml)- Rs.149/- for 10ml
Nyassa Tiramisu Body Scrub (30g)- Rs.900/- for 200g
I really like the Wella Pro Elements Range, read my review HERE. It is SLS and paraben free and perfect for colored/treated hair, this deluxe sample size is perfect to try out and/or for travel.
I am loving the Sugar Matte Lipstick, love their Matte Crayon too, so was looking forward to the lipstick. Quite excited to try that out. It comes in this magenta pink shade, a muted berry, a nude and a coral.
I have 3-4 of Nykaa nail paints and they are quite decent, I love this summery shade and would definitely be wearing it.
The Nyassa Tiramisu Body Scrub smells amazing, but since it’s a body scrub, this 30g sample would only work once.
Overall, I would say it’s a mixed bag, not a must have but pretty decent if you are into matte lipsticks and wanted to try the Wella Pro Elements Range, a nail paint and bag are added bonus 😀
The value of the products come to around Rs.1200/- which is still not bad and the deluxe sizes are decent too.
What did you get in your March Fab Bag? Do let me know in the comments below.
Scrubbing is extremely essential in winters as the development of dry skin needs to exfoliate to preserve then natural radiance of the skin itself. Honestly speaking, I prefer my winters with oversized sweatshirt, hot chocolate, a warm bed to snuggle in and reading a soul touching book. Yes, I am one of those lazy girls who like to keep the skin well-scrubbed of dead cells and yet do nothing about it. This is when a dear friend of mine told me to make a ‘scrub bar’ that would clean and exfoliate at the same time. My heart leaped with just with the thought of such multipurpose body care product and I immediately thought of making it. So it’s time, my dear readers of NLM, to let you know how to DIY this amazing thing!
Things you need:
Crushed soap bar. (a gel based one works better and easier to deal with)
Olive oil.
Glycerin.
Ground coffee. (not the instant one which blends in but the grounded beans for filter)
Empty container.
Steps:
1. In a double boiler or on top of a boiling water, place the cut out pieces of the soap. Do not put it directly under the flames which would lead to burning.
2. Once the soap melts in heat, simmer it down and add 2 tbsp. of olive oil and glycerin each. Then, mix it well with the liquid soap.
3. Now add the coffee in it and again use a spoon to mix it well.
4. Remove the mixture from the heat and pour in it the container. Now, this has to be done very quickly as the soap has the tendency to get sticky.
5. Keep it in the refrigerator for 1-2hours. It also depends upon the soap on how much time it requires to solidify. Mine was done in 1hour.
6. And you homemade scrub bar is ready to use!
P.S: You can also add big granules of sugar to exfoliate. Sugar is slightly coarser when solidified and hence I generally feel it is too rough for my normal skin but if you have dry skin, you can incorporate that. Also, you can make a separate scrub bar with sugar and walnut particles for feet as well.
As we all know, soaps are excellent in washing the dirt and therefore I added it to cleanse the skin. Olive oil and glycerin is extremely hydrating and hence, while scrubbing you will get the desired moisture to be restored. Lastly, the coffee particles are coarse and semi-fine milled which helps in exfoliation- gently and effectively. It stimulates the blood flow while scrubbing and tighten the skin thereby reduces cellulite and great for anti-ageing.
Overall, this has been a lifesaver for me. I imply invest less time for skin care yet get the best of it. Do let me how you liked my DIY.
Editor’s Note: This sounds amazing Sanchita and I love the coffee smell, definitely trying it out.
Have you tried making something like before? A DIY Scrub Bar? Will you try this? It’s easy peasy.
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub, Body Butter, Body Splash Review
Hi guys,
If you know I have running an Instagram contest for this new Virgin Mojito Range from The Body Shop, I also got a chance to try a few products from this new range and here is my review on it.
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub
Ingredients:
MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml
It comes in the same plastic jar as the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and has the same gel like texture and consistency with white and green fine granules. I already love the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and loving this too, this one smells more refreshing and exactly like Mojito! It leaves the skin gently exfoliated and soft without any greasiness or heaviness.
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Splash
What the Company claims: The Body Shop brings you an innovative, brand-new fragrance format! With a zingy fragrance, our NEW Limited Edition Virgin Mojito Body Splash lets you splash on the crisp, refreshing scent of lime and fresh mint after the shower to extend the feeling of freshness all day. Innovative way to apply our new fragrance Light and fast-drying With the extract of Caribbean mint and lime Made with Community Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar from Paraguay
Ingredients:
MRP: Rs.1395/- for 300ml
This is the first time The Body Shop has come up with a Body Splash, I think it is launched in place of the Body Mist. It is a thin, runny water like liquid which you just need to rub all over your body after a bath or after using the body butter. It evaporates quickly leaving behing a nice whiff of lime and mint. Again very, very refreshing. Only con would be it doesn’t stay that long on it’s own and over the body butter, it stays for like 3-4 hours. I would have loved if it stayed longer for at least 5-6 hours.
The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter
What the Company claims: Smooth on fresh hydration with our Limited Edition Virgin Mojito Body Butter, refreshingly fragranced with a twist of zesty lime and the scent of fresh mint. Up to 24-hr fresh hydration Lightweight texture Suitable for normal skin With the extract of Caribbean lime and mint Made with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana
Ingredients:
MRP: Rs.1095/- for 200ml
As I had mentioned in my previous Fuji Green Tea Range Review, that I am not a fan of The Body Shop Body Butters and I prefer the Body Lotions as my skin is not very dry and I do not like rich and heavy creams except in extreme winters which is rare in a humid city like Mumbai.
I was expecting this to be of the same formulation as the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter but this one was very rich and heavy. I compared the ingredients of both and I found that the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter only had soybean oil and shea butter as the rich ingredients whereas this Virgin Mojito Body Butter contains cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax, soybean oil and sesame oil as the rich ingredients and that makes it very heavy.
I would be using this Virgin Mojito Body Butter only in the 2 months of Mumbai winters, but otherwise I still prefer the Fuji Green Tea one coz it is very light and non greasy. If you are someone who has very dry skin, the Virgin Mojito Body Butter is perfect for you! It is very moisturizing and hydrating. Also for someone who feels itchiness due to dry skin or is developing stretch marks, this one will give your skin the much needed moisture.
Overall I would say this range is very, very refreshing coz of the fresh lime and mint. It would have been amazing if this range would have been launched in the summers. I love the Body Scrub and the new Body Splash too, the Body Butter is slightly rich for me but when everything is used together, the smell stays on much longer.
Have you checked out the new Body Shop Virgin Mojito Range yet? What do you think of it?

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, Body Butter Review
Hi guys,
A few weeks ago The Body Shop launched their new Fuji Green Tea Range with Miss Malini & Jacqueline Fernandez at The Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. I have created this short vlog from the event for you guys..
The Body Shop India also sent us this lovely hamper which had their new Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub & Body Butter, Green Tea Bags, a glass brewer and a mug, also a cute Japanese hand fan.
I have been using the Body Scrub & Body Butter since quite a few days now, and here is my review 🙂
FUJI GREEN TEA™ BODY SCRUB
What the Company claims: Perfect for cleansing and exfoliating, the crisp and refreshing scent of Fuji Green Tea™ Body Scrub helps to lift away dead skin cells, detox the body, and prepare skin for moisture. Discover more about the Green Tea Ceremony → • Lifts away dead skin cells • Infused with replenishing green tea from Japan • For healthy looking skin • Enriched with Community Fair Trade Honey from Ethiopia
MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml
How to use: Apply to damp skin in a circular motion, then rinse thoroughly for refreshingly smooth skin. For best results, use two to three times a week.
Ingredients:
Now I have tried many body scrubs from coffee to sea salt and sugar, etc., but mostly all the body scrubs are oil based i.e. the have almond oil or olive oil, etc as their base. Though the base oil leaves the skin moisturized but sometimes it is difficult to get rid of and when it is humid, I prefer a light, non greasy feeling on my skin.
The Body Shop always makes gel based body scrubs which are easy to use and do not leave a heavy oily feeling on the skin, the Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub was one such scrub. And coming to this Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, it is even more light and smells very refreshing.
It is a transparent gel base with small white particles and green beads. I am not a fan of green tea smell but this actually smells very light and refreshing and not at all of strong green tea which I had thought it would.
I like the slightly curved top packaging with a steel cap and a transparent see through tub.It is very gentle when it comes to exfoliating and leaves my skin squeaky clean with a hint of the refreshing smell.
I quite like the body scrub, and it is one of my favourite body scrubs now.
FUJI GREEN TEA™ BODY BUTTER
Smooth on replenishing hydration, while detoxing body and soul, with the crisp and refreshing scent of Mini Fuji Green Tea™ Body Butter. Discover more about the Green Tea Ceremony. • Intense hydration for all skin types • 24-hr hydration • Lightweight texture • With revitalizing green tea from Japan • For healthier feeling skin • Enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana
MRP: Rs.1095/- for 200ml
How to use: Massage into skin. Be generous! It works even better when applied straight after a bath or shower. Insider’s tip: Massage into skin after using the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub to help your moisturizer penetrate better.
Ingredients:
Now I have never been into body butters, I prefer body lotions always, coz I find body butters very rich on my skin. I do use them in winters when my skin is very dry but for rest of the time, I like body lotions which are light and absorb easily.
This is the first Body Butter from The Body Shop which I absolutely loved coz it is super light in texture and does not at all feel rich like butter.
It comes in a round tub packaging like all other The Body Shop Body Butters. It is light green in color and though butter like in texture, blends really well and gets absorbed instantly with no greasiness left behind.
Again has a light, refreshing smell and when the body scrub and body butter are used together, the smell lingers on for quite some time.
The skin stays hydrated and moisturized throughout the day, I don’t really reapply but if you have very dry skin, you can always reapply at night.
The entire range consists of Exfoliating Soap, Eau De Cologne, Body Sorbet, Body Scrub, Body Lotion, Body Wash and Body Butter. I absolutely love the Eau De Cologne, it is so refreshing and smells amazing.
They have a 20% off when you buy 3 products from this range offer going on currently on their site. I absolutely recommend trying this range and especially the body scrub and body butter if you are already into scrubbing and using body butters. Even if you are someone who prefers lotions, do check out the body butter tester if you have a Body Shop store around coz this is their lightest body butter. You can always get the body lotion otherwise. I am eyeing the Exfoliating Soap and the Eau De Cologne from this range next.

Have you tried the new Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Range yet?
This time, the box was Valentine Special and curated by Miss Malini also called Miss Malini’s Box of Love. It was a black colored box this time with a pink satin pouch inside..loved that pouch.
Also, there were two additional cards inside this time.A Sephora makeover card for oneself and a friend, sadly no Sephora in Mumbai and its a waste for me :/
Second was a Rs.500/- off on H2O+ stores card, will have to try that out, 2 stores in Mumbai thankfully.
What I got in the box:
Calvin Klein Reveal: Rs.4500/- for 50ml It smells amazing, strong and musky. Its my kinda scent.
LYN (Live Your Now) Nail Lacquer: Rs.350/- for 12ml Its a beautiful creamy pastel blue called No Morning Blues, I tried it out immediately. Dries quickly and love the finish. I am glad its a full sized 12ml quantity this time <3
SkinYoga Post Workout Neem Purifier: Rs.1550/- for 200gms Its a barley and neem post workout body scrub, waiting to try this out. I love SkinYoga products, happy with this one.
Vana Vidhi Himalayan Wild Rose Bath Salt: Rs.990/- for 15gms Bath Salts are a pleasure to use, especially when its pure, natural rose. It smells of soft, pure rose with no added scent/fragrance.
L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Youth Serum: Rs.4490/- for 30ml Not really a fan since its an anti aging range, I don’t like the fact that beauty boxes contain anti aging products unless specifically requested for.
Overall I loved this month’s box. A full sized product plus the other deluxe sized samples which are good enough to eat and smell fabulous. Use SkinYoga Neem Purifier post workout on Valentine’s Day, bath with the Vana Vidhi Himalayan Wild Rose Bath Salt, apply the LYN nail lacquer and spritz some CK Reveal 😀 #not #justkidding
