DIY Eyeshadow Primer

DIY Eyeshadow Primer

By Simran

We have all been new to the makeup world some time or another and learnt everything by trial and error. One thing which comes in the mind of a person new to makeup is; affordable makeup products since they haven’t mastered any techniques and hence need affordable options to experiment and learn with.

And for anyone trying their hands on eye shadows, is to get a good eye shadow primer, that should be the prime objective. An eye shadow primer acts as a base for your eye shadow, makes the pigmentation of the eye shadow more visible and helps in the staying power of the eye shadow on your lids.

However, there aren’t many affordable options available in the Indian market. When I started using eye shadows, there were barely any primers available, even the costly ones.

So, I DIY-d my very own eye shadow primer and used it for ages till I got an actual eye shadow primer from the market. Hopefully, this will help anyone new to makeup or someone who wants to save some bucks on an eye shadow primer.

It consists of basic things which we all have lying around anyways. It works the same as any eye shadow primer in the market would.

What you’ll need:

  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Body Butter or Thick Moisturizer
  • Empty and Clean Tub
  • Toothpick

Starting with, you’d want to sanitize the tub you want to keep your primer in.  I have used this old lip balm tub and sanitized it. You can even buy empty tubs similar to these online.

Step1

Initially, you want to pour some foundation in the tub, the foundation is the base of the product so you should use the most of it depending on how much eye primer you want to make. I am using this Foundation by the body shop in my eye shadow primer.

Step2

Next, put in a little concealer, use it lesser than the foundation, half than how much foundation you used to be precise. It will help in adding that little brightness in your eye shadow primer. I am using this Deliplus concealer I had got from Spain.

Step3

Finally, put a bit of body butter or thick body lotion, you shouldn’t use a light/thin consistency moisturizer since it would make the consistency of your eye primer runny.

The ratio of the moisturizer/body butter should be same or teeny less than the concealer.  What the moisturizer does, is to retain the moisture on your lids underneath all that eye shadow. I am using this parachute body lotion.

The ratio you want to work in is 2:1:1 that is 2 parts foundation, 1 part concealer and 1 part moisturizer.

Step4

Mix it well with the help of a toothpick and store it away well. Always use a brush to apply the product to avoid spreading any germs and always pat some powder on top of the eye shadow primer to help it not to crease.

I wouldn’t really recommend making huge batches of the eye shadow primer. Make a batch that’ll not last you more than 1-2 months. You require a really small amount for each use.

Done

I have used this eye shadow primer for more than 8 hours and it lasted me without creasing or fading my eye makeup.

Editor’s Note: That sounds like a good eye primer. I would also recommend adding a little glycerine in place or addition to the body butter, just a tiny amount.

Maybelline India Blushed Nudes Palette Review, Swatches, Tutorial

Maybelline India Blushed Nudes Palette Review, Swatches, Tutorial

Hi guys,

I have been playing with The Blushed Nudes Palette and also created this look you see here.

What the Company claims: With all the things you’ll love about the new Blushed Nudes Palette, here are a few more:
– 12 rose-gold infused shades
– Easily blend-able
– Creates countless looks
– Compliments every skin tone

MRP: Rs.899/- for 9g

They have 13 different eye shadow combinations given behind, same like in the original Nudes, and that’s a very interesting idea. I can’t wait to try some of these looks.

The packaging of the palette is exactly like the original Nudes Palette and the pricing is also the same. It comes with a small applicator which has a sponge tip on one side and a brush on one side. The brush is pretty good for using in the inner corners or highlighting brow bone.

The palette is quite handy and small to carry along. It does not come with a mirror sadly, I would have loved a mirror.

The original Nudes Palette had all warm shades and more of browns, this palette has more pinks and grays and all cool toned shades. While the original Nudes Palette was supposed to pretty similar shades wise to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, this one the Blushed Nudes is very close shade wise to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

If you follow me on Snapchat (bhumika_t), you must have seen a comparision of this palette with the same one in US and the shades are quite different, a lot of you took screenshot of that image coz the palette was quite different. I believe the US palette has more pinks and mauves and lighter shades and those shades might not show up on all Indian skintones, so they kept more of greys and darker shades in the Indian palette.

There are mostly satin finish shades, with one deep plum shade being shimmery and there are two mattes. One is a greyish taupe shade which is not that pigmented and the other is a matte white shade which is pretty decent.

Most of the shades are pretty pigmented while few are not that good and need a lot of layering for the colors to show up. But they stay on pretty good throughout the day once applied, more longer with a primer. They do not crease but the finish is not as fresh and slightly fade at the end of the day.

Here are the swatches:

TOP ROW:

The top row has all whites, peaches and pinks

BOTTOM ROW:

The bottom row has greys, taupes and purples.

I created this pink smokey eye look with this palette..

Overall I would say, this is a decent palette and worth checking out. We do not have many palette options available in India, and hardly any cool toned or pink-gray based. For the price, this is definitely pretty good. I do recommend this.

I hope you liked the look, do let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

New & Improved Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliners Review, Swatches

New & Improved Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliners Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

I have reviewed some of the Avon Glimmersticks variants before, today I am reviewing their new and improved Glimmersticks, they have improved the formula and here are my thoughts

What the Company claims: All New Formula, Bolder Color in One stroke, Continuous Waterproof Lines whole day

MRP: Rs. 329/- for 0.28g (For Rs.259 currently) (Available online on Nykaa)

Shades available:

  • Emerald Green
  • Blackest Black
  • Cosmic Brown
  • Majestic Plum
  • Starry Night Blue

They do keep adding shades or some Limited Edition shade for a new collection, they had added Textured Teal and Nocturnal, two new shades in 2012 with their Urban Jungle Collection, I have reviewed the Nocturnal shade HERE

They have a lot of different ranges in Glimmersticks, there is Ultra Brights (Reviewed HERE), Diamonds (more shimmery), Cosmic, Liqui- Glide, Flick eyeliner. And then there are Lip Liners and Brow Definers.

The pencils have color coordinated base which makes them easier to identify. I always prefer retractable pencils as I do not like wastage of product with sharpeners.

I can definitely notice the better formula in the first stroke, they were always easy to glide on and use, these are even more pigmented! I have mentioned in my earlier review how they use to break and are very soft, this time they didn’t break much. As you see in this swatch, the black broke a bit while swatching, but they are definitely more firmer.

They are easy to glide on and you get the required pigmentation in one stroke. I have the shades Blackest Black, Emerald, Majestic Plum and Starry Night Blue.

They stayed on for a good whole day on my upper lashline, for about 5-6 hours on my lower lashline and 3-4 hours on my waterline. I have very watery eyes, so I am still very impressed with the staying power. On the upper lashline, it just didn’t budge unless I took it off with a good makeup remover at the end of the day.

Entire quantity

I definitely suggest checking these out, and for the price, they are total value for money! I would recommend these over some of the other new launches which just break and you end up sharpening the entire pencil with a complete waste of product!

Left – Right: Starry Night Blue, Majestic Plum, Blackest Black, Emerald

The only con with these was they were available only through Avon reps, but now you get them online too, on Nykaa, etc. Though you cannot use the current offers and discounts as these websites have fixed prices.

Have you tried the new Avon Glimmerstick Eyeliners yet?

Easy Blue Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial | Drugstore | Indian Makeup

Easy Blue Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial | Drugstore | Indian Makeup

Hi guys,

I created this easy blue smokey eyes using just two products i.e. Maybelline Sapphire Blue Colorsensational 3D Eyeshadow Palette and Colorbar Eyeshadow Crayon in Moss.

I hope you like the look.

Products used:

Sephora Smoothing Primer
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Concealer
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Powder
Revlon Nearly Naked Medium Deep Powder
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter
Marks & Spencer Blush Damson
Maybelline Colorsensational 3D Eyeshadow Palette Sapphire Blue
Colorbar Eyeshadow Crayon Moss
Maybelline Super Black Colossal Kajal
PAC Eyeliner Pen
Rouge Bunny Rouge Alchemy Eyebrow Pencil
Essence Lash Princess Mascara
MAC Flamingo Park Collection Cremesheen Glass Such Sweeties

I liked this Maybelline Palette but they do need a base eyeshadow/pencil for the colors to show up. The highlight shade was pretty good, black one had a lot of fall out though.

I love this Colorbar eyeshadow crayon and these are fabulous even on their own when you don’t want an all out look but some nice color and definition.

Do let me know your thoughts in the comments below 🙂

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Review, Swatches

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

So L’Oreal Paris had launched these eyeliners as a part of their Cannes Collection, I had reviewed the Infallible Le Mega lip glosses earlier HERE. I took time to review these coz I was in two minds about these. Read on to know my thoughts..

Claims: Indulge your eyes in silk with Silkissimeby Infallible. Glide on smooth intensity with our first silk inspired liquid pencil. The smudge-proof formula lasts for up to 16-hours of intense color from dusk until dawn. Gives a delicate, silky shiny look with ultimate perfection in a single stroke. Available in 8 vibrant shades.

How to use: Apply along the top and bottom lash line beginning in the inner corner of the eye and working outward. Use a sharpener to sharpen the pencil gently and create a working tip.

MRP: Rs.575/- for 1.10g (Buy HERE)

Ingredients:

Shades Available:

  • Black
  • Charcoal
  • Pure Purple
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Cobalt Blue
  • True Teal
  • Plum

I have the shades Plum, Purple, Gold and Silver. They come in a pencil form which needs to be sharpened. And that is a major problem, I will tell you why.

They have a transparent cap and matching shade color outer body, so it’s easy to find the shade you need. The texture is more creamy than butter, it is like melted butter. It glides on super smooth but that is the problem, it breaks every time I try to use it.

It goes on smooth on the waterline but it is difficult to use on the upper lashline coz it gets blunt and breaks every time. And when you try to sharpen these, they melt and keep on breaking. The product is like gel liner in pencil form, I have to use it with an eyeliner brush, rubbing the bristles each time on the pencil. It gets a little difficult and time consuming.

Once applied, it stays put through the day. These are very pigmented and long staying. But the product can hardly be used a few times as 50% goes waste in sharpening and you never get a sharp tip for using it on upper lashline.

I would say these are good for waterline. They also make a perfect base for eyeshadows. I like the gel formula but I would have appreciated gel liners in these shades. The quantity of 1.10g is less for the price and half of it goes waste.

Left-Right: Plum, Pure Purple, Gold, Silver

Either the product inside should have been a little more stiff and sturdy or it should have come with it’s own special sharpener that did not waste the product. It does mention in ‘How to use’, to sharpen with L’Oreal Paris Dual Sharpener, but I haven’t seen it anywhere, I am not sure if it’s available separately. It should have come along with the pencil.

As much as I love the shades and formula, I am not happy with these pencils and I do not reach for them often, coz it burns my heart to see so much wastage :/ I saw the exact same issue with the pencils in US coz all the reviews on Amazon. com also mentioned the same thing. It’s an universal formula with these pencils.

I would not recommend these, unless you are ok with using these only for waterline and lower lashline or as an eyeshadow base. You will not get a crisp or sharp line on upper lashline with these unless you use a brush.

I love the shades though, all four are fabulous, especially the Pure Purple.

What do you think of the new L’Oreal Paris Silkissime Eyeliners?

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

By Simran

“Beauty is how you feel inside , and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical”

Hello everyone!

Today i am going to review the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome. I was not into eye shadows until last year since i couldn’t figure out how to use it. Haven’t we all been there? We just level up by trial and errors and reach the pro level.

The salvation palettes are limited edition eye shadow palettes which come in 10 different variants, which are; Unicorns Unite, What are you waiting for?, Girls on film, Run boy run, Welcome to the pleasuredome, Dia de los muertos, Give them Nightmares, Colour chaos, Girl panic and Hard day.

All the palettes consist of 6 matte and 12 shimmery or metal finish eyeshadows.

I bought Welcome to the Pleasuredome since it had eye shadows perfect for a quirky or smokey eye look and i got too bored of my pink and nude palettes.

Claims: Salvation is here! Why a Salvation? For the first time we have combined Shimmer and Matte Shades in a series of exciting Limited Edition Palettes with 18 shades of super high pay off Impact. These Palettes are in beautiful compact with large full size mirror for the first time in our series of palettes. We hope this is what you have been waiting for? We have assembled this as the perfect mix of nudes and naturals for day, moving to smokier by night. 12 shimmers and 6 Mattes inside with full length mirror.

Ingredients:

Price: Rs. 1350/- for a palette consisting 16 shades.

Packaging: Can we talk about how intriguing the outer packaging is? i fell in love with it. The palette is a classic sleek black palette, the material of the palette feels a bit cheap though. There is a full size compact mirror provided in the palette which is actually really handy. The palette closes with a click and is quite sturdy and can be carried in your handbag. There is a useless sponge tip applicator provided in the palette but i just never use it, who uses it anyways?

My take on Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

I was having high expectations from this palette since Makeup Revolution is an affordable and trustworthy brand and the product aced all my expectations. The shadows are highly pigmented and the shades provided in the palette are so mesmerising. I usually use the matte shades in my crease as a transition colour and the shimmery shades go on the lid.

You can create a classic smokey eye from this palette since the shade Never Doing What I am Told is the matte-est black you will ever find.

Shades like Sell it by hour & Shooting stars never stop, There goes a Supernova give a metallic finish which i absolutely love.

Welcome to the Pleasuredome & Xanadu can be used as a highlighter for your face; who doesn’t like multi tasking products?

The shadows can last you the whole day and i have actually mistakenly slept with my makeup on and these shadows did not even budge an inch.

Pros of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • Highly pigmented
  • Lasting power is amazing
  • Decently priced
  • Full size compact mirror provided

Cons of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • A brush not provided, but a sponge tip applicator.
  • Contains parabens

Rating: 5/5

Editor’s Note: The shades are quite pretty Simran, as you rightly mentioned perfect for smokey eyes. Loved it.

Top 10 Volumizing Mascaras Available in India, Prices, Buy Online

Top 10 Volumizing Mascaras Available in India, Prices, Buy Online

By Sanchita

You know the saying, ‘Inner beauty is great but a little mascara never hurts.’ Well, I say the more the better. I saw more of a kohl girl than mascara one mostly because I couldn’t remove mascara properly before. Well, one day I tried out a mascara for an event and I was astonished the way it has turned my eye makeup. And from that day onwards I never skipped mascara. I loved all those tutorials where the bloggers use the beautiful falsies but honestly speaking, I could never get the hang of it. Maybe one day I will or maybe not, but for now I have the super voluminou mascara. They define your lashes and enhance the eye makeup tenfold. So, I have combined the best of the best voluminous mascaras available in India. Read on to know more about it.

1. Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara – 500 INR (BUY HERE)

One day when I was picking up some random makeup products from the Maybelline counter, the SA insisted me to choose The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara. I was in double minds but somehow ended up picking it and I never had to try any other mascaras again because this was a gem. An amazing product that not only add volume but length to the lashes as well. I was having problem with false eyelashes and couldn’t get the hang of it. But, after I saw how this mascara actually give you the ‘falsies’ effect, I use it both regularly as well as for special occasion. Most the waterproof and washable variant are outstanding and for the price, it is one gem of a product.

2. Maybelline The Magnum Barbie Mascara – 399 INR (BUY HERE)

This is one of the very recent launch of Maybelline and compared to the price, it is again voluminous mascara as well. The wand is slightly curved that gives a proper curled effect to the lashes. The bristles are perfect to provide even amount of volume boost on the lashes to create that doll-like fluttery eye lash look to the eyes. Further, the mascara is sweat proof, waterproof, and smudge proof and hence keeps your eye makeup intact, all day long. In fact, it can be a great one for contact lens wearers. The mascara dries up easily and great for thin eyelashes as well.

3. L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes Extra-Black Mascara – 795 INR (BUY HERE for 596)

A favorite mascara for every makeup artist in India. Although it does falls in the higher range category but every penny is worth spending on this beauty. It is such a kind of mascara which will give you everything – curl, length and volume boost that too in the most dramatic way possible. If you don’t want to go for false eyelashes on any special occasion and yet wants such lashes, go for this one and you will never get disappointed.

4. Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara- 725 INR (BUY HERE for 510)

Lakme has this Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara from their dramatic range that gives an opulent curl and dramatic volume effect, true to its name. It is a great long wearing mascara with water-proof and smudge resistant formula. The texture of the mascara is semi-thick and dries up pretty good and doesn’t flake from the lashes with the passage of time as well. it gives a decent volume boost which makes it great for day wear and wand is great for application.

5. L’Oréal Paris False Lash Architect 4D Mascara – 750 INR

L’Oréal Paris has introduced for the 1st time sculpting-fibers in a mascara. It has been augmented with undetectable and ultra-supple 4mm fibers, hence, the formula builds up lashes by moulding, re-shaping and sculpting to give defined look. It has a beautiful wand which is tapered and slightly bent and also coats the lashes evenly without clumping and smudging the eye makeup. The formula is waterproof and gives a soft, fluttery look for daytime. Further, it doesn’t dry out the lashes as well.

6. Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara – 2300

This is the queen of all mascaras and that price tag is surely not for faint hearted ones. It comes in a luxurious deep ink blue packaging with a glossy and alluring gold body. The wand is slightly tapered and densely packed fibre bristles. It is comparatively slender it makes it perfect for application. The texture is light weight and wet formula but it doesn’t take much time to dry on the lashes. It also prevents clumping and adds an enormous amount of volume to gives the perfect ‘extreme’ look you desire. Further it doesn’t smudge or flux and comes off easily with an oil based eye makeup remover.

7. Colorbar Zoom and Whoosh Mascara – 650 INR (BUY HERE for 594)

Colorbar has the Zoom and Whoosh Mascara which comes in a beautiful cylindrical packaging of black, silver and pink. The unique thing is the two kinds of wand – for lengthening and voluminizing the lashes. For use the lengthening one and then the voluminizing to see what beautiful dramatic lashes it gives you. The formula is waterproof and color is jet black. It holds the curls well and also makes the lashes soft and comfortable all day long. It hardly clumps and great option for sensitive eyes as well.

Deborah Milano Absolute Hi Tech Mascara has the revolutionary formula featuring 3D DH Complex for three-dimensional performance and lashes with unrivalled volume, length and definition. It also claims to be enriched with Triple Carbon Black DH Complex for dramatically pure color, and lash-strengthening Keratin. The bristles have a zigzag formation which prevents clumping yet gives you the right amount of volume and length. The bristles are soft so good for those having sensitive eyes.

9. Inglot False Lash Effect Mascara – 850 INR

Inglot is often compared to high-end brands and this mascara is another charmer from their collection. It has lump-free formula allows to reach a desired effect in just one sweep and the wand gives you the perfect precise application without smudging. The smudge proof formulation ensures the mascara will stay where it belongs, but is easily removable. The volume boost it gives is beyond one can fathom and along with the lengthening effect. It is also great for contact lens wearers.

10. Avon Super Shock Mascara – 599 INR

The wand of Avon Super Shock Mascara is a beautiful one which picks up the right amount of product and gives absolutely clump free application. It has a medium consistency and dries off rather quickly on the lashes. It makes the lashes soft and feathery without the hard and dry look. The result is very well defined and volume boost lashes with a uniform look. It is also waterproof and can be used as a great daily wear mascara. Further it is hypoallergenic and ophthalmologist-tested.

Editor’s Note: I loved this list Sanchita, I would like to add Maybelline Colossal Volume which I have used previously for years! And also Essence Lash Princess Mascara which is pretty good and economical. Rest from this list, L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes, Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets and Deborah Milano one are my favourites.

Which is your favourite volumizing mascara? Do let us know in the comments below.

Purple Duochrome Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

Purple Duochrome Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys,

A lot of you asked me to do a look with the SeaSoul Eyeshadow Duo in Deep Purple that I got in my May Fab Bag, so here it is. I hope you like it 🙂

Products used:

Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Compact
Marks & Spencer Limited Damson Blush

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil Yogurt
Maybelline Colossal Superblack Kajal (Buy Online)

PAC Cosmetics Liquid Liner Pen (Buy Online)
Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Brown

Lips:

Sugar Cosmetics Lip Crayon Holy Golightly
Sigma Lip Vex in Tint

I have used the purple eyeshadow crayon as base and the deep purple eyeshadow on top of that. Concentrated the purple on the inner and outer corners to give a halo effect for the duochrome at the center.

Another way to use it would be the duochrome on the entire lid and the deep purple at the outer V and outer half of lower lashline only. That would also be slightly smokey but would have more concentration on the gorgeous duochrome. I would try that next.

I loved how the look turned up, do let me know your thoughts in the comments below. And also if you try either of the two looks, do tag me, I would love to see it.

Colorbar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Sticks, Diamond Shine Lip Gloss Review, Swatches

Colorbar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Sticks, Diamond Shine Lip Gloss Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

I have been trying out these two new launches from Colorbar from quite some time now. And I also did a look around these. Here are my thoughts on them.

I did this look with these new launches..

Colorbar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Sticks: This ultra-modern eye-shadow stick glides like velvet, has feather light application and lasts for 8 hours without creasing, flaking or fading! Applying perfect eye-shadow will no longer be a tricky job with ColorBar All Day Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick. Fall in love with this blendable and highly pigmented do-it-all eye-shadow stick, which also doubles up as eyeliner. Sharpen the tip with a detachable sharpener (attached at the back of the stick) for precise application and use it to shade, define, smoke-up and highlights. Its velvet powdery, lightweight texture is smudge proof and doesn’t non-transfer on the upper eyelid.Preservative and mineral oil free. Dermatologically and Ophthalmologically Approved

MRP: Rs.850/- for 1.4g

Ingredients:

Available in 10 shades

I have the shades Ornament and Moss in the Eyeshadow sticks and Nude Glow and Pixie Pink in Diamond Shine Lip Gloss.

The eyeshadow stick comes in a swivel up rotating packaging. Each shade has a matching base colour which makes it easier to identify. It also comes with a sharpener, so that the tip can be sharpened if it gets blunt and flat. That comes very handy, coz it is difficult to use on the upper/lower lashline with the flat tip.

It is cream finish and glides on well, but it sets almost immediately and doesn’t budge once set, you need to be super quick when you are working with this. This can be a con for newbies, as it won’t blend once set. It is super pigmented and settles to a matte finish. It is indeed smudge proof and transfer proof as claimed. But when used on lower lashline and waterline, it does smudge a bit.

It stayed put for almost the whole day on the eyes, untill removed and around 6-7 hours on the waterliner and lower lashline, before smudging a bit. It comes off easily with a makeup remover. I love the idea of eyeshadow sticks since they are easy to use and carry.

Left: Ornament, Right: Moss

005 Ornament is a nice champagne beige with hints of gold. A perfect, everyday shade and would also work for office. You can even use it as a base and layer with more deeper or glittery shades for more intensity and a heavier look.

Top: Ornament
Bottom: Moss

004 Moss is my favourite, a bluish green shade which pops up the eyes. I love using it on the upper and lower lashline, as seen here. It’s a perfect spring color and would brighten up the eyes and face, it makes the eyes look more white.

Left: Moss, Right: Oranment

Here I have used the shade Ornament all over the lid and the shade Moss on the upper lashline and outer half of lower lashline and extended it and blended softly with an angled liner brush.

At Rs.850/- these are slightly expensive, but I am quite impressed with the quality. They do as they claim! I highly recommend these, I also like the shades Slate and Mulberry.

Colorbar Diamond Shine Lip Gloss: You’re not fully dressed until you add some Glitter! A Gorgeous high shine lip gloss that wears a feather and envelopes your lips with rich, intense Color in just one stroke, packed with Luxe shimmer. This soft highly pigmented gloss adheres perfectly and glides on flawlessly, to make your lips shine like diamonds. Enriched with Vit-E & comforting oils, it fits the lip care needs of every woman perfectly.

Features and Benefits:
High pigmented shimmer gloss
Light weight on application
Comforting oils to provide hydrate and conditioning to your lips
Smooth and creamy application
Enriched with Vit. E providing antioxidant properties
Color does not bleed on lips
Flocked paddle applicator to picks up a generous amount of gloss for a nice, even lay down of color
Preservative free

MRP: Rs.675/- for 3.8ml

Ingredients:

Available in 8 shades

Coming to the Colorbar Diamond Shine Lip Gloss, they come in a round, transparent, normal glass packaging. Since they are see through, you can easily identify the shades if you have more than one.

Now I am more into matte lipsticks and liquid lipsticks, I haven’t used a lip gloss in the longest time. But I guess once in a while, they look quite good. Of course, you get a nice, shiny pout with a lip gloss, which you can never with a matte lipstick.

These are completely non sticky, well pigmented for a gloss and the color stays well even after drinking, etc. These are quite moisturizing and light weight, and all that these claim! Mostly all lip glosses transfer a lot and don’t stay more than 1-2 hours, these ones do! They stay well for about 3-4 hours and survives light drinking, etc too.

I usually use a base color as a soft tint blended with my fingers and go over a gloss like this. The color and stain stayed put well though the evening for me.

002 Nude Glow is an everyday nude brown with silver shimmer

004 Pixie Pink is a bright neon barbie pink with silver shimmer

Left: Nude Glow, Right: Pixie Pink

Nude Glow is more universal and can be layered on any color lipstick and worn on it’s own as well. If you don’t like using lipsticks at your work place, something like Nude Glow should be perfect!

Pixie Pink can be layered but it is bright and pigmented enough to use on it’s own too.

If you are into matte and colored lip glosses sans shimmer, this is not for you. But if you like a shimmery, glossy pout, these are a must have!

I absolutely love Nude Glow, and it comes in 6 more shades. It is definitely very pricey for a lip gloss, but the quality is comparable to MAC and/or other high end glosses.

I have used the Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Tint in Pink Fantasy as a soft tint and blended with finger and the shade Nude Glow on top of it, in the first pic above, for this look.

What do you think of these new Colorbar Launches? Tried any? Your thoughts?

Rose Quartz Pink
Sapphire Blue

I absolutely loved Topaz Gold, followed by Rose Quartz Pink, they both have just one shade different though. But since there were no testers available, I did not pick any, as I didn’t wish to take the risk without swatching.

I love how the palette is shaped, the packaging is quite nice. Also the fact that every palette has one highlight shade, one smokey shade and one color striped with gold/silver. I guess only blue has silver, the blue palette is more cool toned, rest three are quite warm.

All look satin/shimmer finish except the smokey black, I wish there was one more matte shade, a soft brown for the crease blending.

The price is pretty good, with the previous quad being priced around Rs.495/-, this one looks much better in comparision.

What do you think of these new Maybelline Eyeshadow Palettes?
