FOTD: Golden Eyes (Indian Ethnic Look)

Hi guys,

I attended a friend’s engagement today and felt like getting decked up a bit, so did some makeup and went with golden eyes.

I wore this pretty orange and pink lace anarkali with golden borders, it’s one of my favourites. So I went with golden and orange tones overall.

For the base, I used the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Reno Liquid Foundation, trying this out currently. Review coming up soon.

I received this pretty eyeshadow quad from May Fab Bag (Review coming next) called Be a Bombshell in Madrid which is the perfect blend of gold, bronze and orange, so I used only this.

I used the beige shade all over my eyes till the lid, the golden shade on the lids and the dark brown on the outer half and crease. For the lower lids, I went with the orangey shade in the inner half and the dark brown on the outer half.

Lined my eyes with the Maybelline Colossal Liner and used the Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara. For the waterline, I used the L’Oreal Paris Sapphire Blue Gel Liner which looks almost black.

And on lips, I used the Maybelline Rebel Bouquet Lipstick in REB04.

I skipped any blush or highlighter since the face was bright enough. I don’t generally use powders overall as I like dewy finish. But for T-zone, it becomes important as I have combination skin.

I had to rush and did not have much time to find products and hence, finished this quickly with whatever products handy 🙂

I hope you liked the look. It is quite simple and basic, do let me know in the comments below 🙂

Essence XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss & Metal Glam Eyeshadow Review,Swatches

Essence XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss & Metal Glam Eyeshadow Review,Swatches

Hi guys,

This review is long pending. Essence Cosmetics is a German brand and slowly it expanded and reached the other parts of Europe and US. Now finally, we have Essence Cosmetics in India!

I am reviewing the Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow in 19 Sparkling Orchids and the Essence XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss in 07 Silky Red

What the Company claims: essence XXXL longlasting Lipgloss matt effect- the velvety-matt, long-lasting lip gloss.

matt = a must! if you love this lip trend, the velvety-matt, long-lasting lipglosses are ideal for you! the light, mousse-like texture lasts on your lips for several hours without drying them out. particularly easy to apply thanks to the flat applicator.

MRP: Rs.279/- for 4.5ml

Shades Available: Velvet Rose, Soft Nude, Silky Red, Love Pink, Coral Delight, Big Night Out, Very Berry, Baby Doll’s Favourite

essence Metal Glam eye-shadows, with a soft texture, glide smoothly onto your eyes, giving extremely high coverage and a splendid metallic effect, resulting in a stunning outcome with a single sweep of the brush. Pocket-friendly, in both connotations of the word, these eye-shadows are available for just Rs. 185 and come in cute pocket sizes that fit easily in bags and purses, guaranteeing that you never have a make-up emergency!

Shades Available:
1. Sparkling Orchids – silver purple
2. Lucky Grasshopper – mossy green
3. Are you Grey? – greyish silver
4. Choco-Chic – warm, chocolatey brown
5. Hello Goldie! – pale gold
6. Coffee to Glow – mocha bronze
7. Golden Up! – white gold

MRP: Rs.185/- for 2.7g

Starting with the eyeshadow, it comes in a round plastic see-through packaging. Easy to locate if you have more colors. The quantity of 2.7g is quite huge.

The eyeshadow has a glitter overspray, so as and when you swatch it once, it looks completely different. Also, the product seems quite hard on top, but it feels a bit creamy inside, once the overspray is gone. When you try and use this eyeshadow with brushes or fingers, you will only get a hint of lilac with lots of silver shimmer.

The only way you can use this eyeshadow is wet. It is just not possible to use this dry, as you will not get any color, so for dry use, its a fail and would not recommend it. If you don’t mind using it wet, go ahead with the Metal Glam eyeshadows. Pretty affordable, lots of shades to choose from.

Coming to the XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss, it is more like a matte lip cream. It comes in a gloss tube and a flat tip applicator.

I love how creamy and moisturising it is, and once settled, it gives a matte finish, not completely dry matte though. It is very comfortable and light on the lips and stays for 3-4 hours without eating or drinking. It does not transfer much once settled, and can be easily reapplied.

T- Eyeshadow, B- Lipgloss

Here is it on me..

I love the shade Silky Red, a very wearable true red with very minute and fine golden shimmer, which is hardly visible. And also it instantly brightens the face. At 279 bucks, these are quite good and I totally recommend them. I don’t mind getting more colors, I think I would be trying out the Velvet Rose, Love Pink and Very Berry.

L’Oreal Paris Cannes Collection Glamorous Gloss,Marvellous Matte Look

L’Oreal Paris Cannes Collection Glamorous Gloss,Marvellous Matte Look

Hey guys,

If you have been following me on my twitter or Instagram, you know I had attended the L’Oreal Paris Cannes Press Con Red Carpet where 6 winners each from Team Glamorous Gloss (headed by Katrina Kaif) and Team Marvellous Matte (headed by Sonam Kapoor)  walked the red carpet with their respective team heads i.e. Sonam and Katrina.

Bloggers were also invited for a photo shoot with the stars and divided into Team Gloss and Team Matte. I was in Team Gloss.

We were sent the L’Oreal Paris Exclusive Cannes Collection a day prior and we had to create a gloss/matte look (whichever team we are in) from the collection. I got 3 L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Extraordinaire in 201 Rose Symphony, 202 Coral Encore and 400 Plum Quartet, L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza in Sapphire Blue, 1 L’Oreal Paris Moist Mat Lipstick in Spring Rosette and 2 Limited Edition Special Cannes Collection Swarovski crystals studded L’Oreal Paris Moist Mat Lipsticks in Raspberry Syrup and Arabian Night.

I was in Team Gloss, so I went with super glossy lips of course and L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Extraordinaire helped me achieve that look. Its a super glossy liquid lipstick. There are also three shades of gel liners in the Cannes Collection- L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza 36H in Diamond Black,Royal Blue and Sapphire Blue. Royal Blue is a gorgeous deep blue, I would have loved to try that. I got the Sapphire Blue shade which is a deep bluish black..looks more black on the eyes. But the texture and quality of these gel liners are beyond amazing. They come with a brush and I got a smooth flick with just one dip of the brush! Beat that! It is super pigmented and goes smoothly all at once. I loved their previous basic black and brown 24H gel liners too (Check the review of the Brown one HERE)

The Cannes collection includes all the existing L’Oreal Paris Moist Mat Lipsticks and some they have launched in a new revamped Swarovski studded packaging..looks so pretty! The real Swarovski crystals on the top and bottom of the cap and then it comes with a velvet cover to protect those crystals.

LE Cannes Collection Swarovski Studded Moist Mat

I got the shade Raspberry Syrup and Arabian Nights in this new packaging and the shade Spring Rosette in the old packaging.

I showed you guys the outfit I wore to the red carpet in my previous OOTD HERE. Let’s take a closer look at the glossy makeup.

Glamorous Gloss Look
Glamorous Gloss Look

I used the L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza in Sapphire Blue on my upper and lower lash line..winged it a bit on the top. And for the lips, I went with L’Oreal Paris Moist Mat Lipstick in Raspberry Syrup as the base and the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Extraordinaire in Rose Symphony on top.

Products I used for the Glamorous Gloss Look

I did not get a chance to click pics with Sonam or Katrina as they arrived late and my back had started paining by then, so I had to leave sooner.

Marvellous Matte Look

I also tried a matte look the other day..went with Sapphire Blue gel liner again but only on the lower lash line, on upper lashline normal black liner with a slight wing and the L’Oreal Paris Moist Mat Lipstick in Spring Rosette. I am so in love with this shade, my current staple and always in my bag!

Which look did you like more? Are you Team Gloss or Team Matte? Any personal favourite from the L’Oreal Paris Cannes collection? Something you want me to review first? Let me know everything in the comments below 😀

Maybelline The Colossal Liner Black Review,Swatches

Maybelline The Colossal Liner Black Review,Swatches

What the Company claims: Enjoy eye catching intensity and flawless precision with the Maybelline New York Colossal Liner.
Designed to end all your application woes, the Maybelline New york Colossal liner features a 0.4 mm flexi tip applicator that gives you perfect error free lines. Empowered with the ink pigment technology, this colossal eye liner imparts smudge proof, fade- proof, intense color to your eyes. Its quick dry formula ensures a 12 hour staying power and quick application. Add this kajal to your vanity kit and enjoy stunningly beautiful eyes everyday.

Here’s why you’ll love it:

  • Has the intensity of a kajal and defines like a liner
  • Customized Flexi Tip applicator ensures mistake-proof application
  • Smudge-free liner has an intense black finish
  • Lasts for up to 12 hours

Price: Rs. 425 for 1.2g (Bought it from Nykaa)

I am a big big fan of Maybelline HyperSharp Liner..you can see HERE. It is my go to liner and I use it everytime, so when Maybelline launched the New Colossal Liner, I was eager to try it out.

I am a thin eyeliner person, I usually go for kajal and when I line my eyes, its a thin line just for definition, rarely I go for a thick liner. So HyperSharp was kind of perfect for me since it is 0.05mm tip whereas this one has a 0.4mm tip. Many did not like HyperSharp as they prefer thick liner and had to go over again and again with HyperSharp, Colossal is your answer ladies. But with HyperSharp, I too had to go over atleast 2 times on the line.

It comes in a pen form with a cap, a thin, flexible tip which goes on easy and smooth on the eyes. In terms of intensity, it is a rich black. I believe a little more pigmented and rich than HyperSharp too.

It dries quickly and gives a nice wing and perfect definition for everyday. I need not go over 2-3 times with this as I had to with HyperSharp.

Comparison of Maybelline HyperSharp Liner and Maybelline The Colossal Liner

  • Both are prices at Rs.425 but Colossal liner offers 1.2g whereas HyperSharp had 0.5g
  • HyperSharp is thinner with a 0.05mm tip and The Colossal has a 0.4mm tip
  • The Colossal Liner is a bit more pigmented than HyperSharp

I like both of them, HyperSharp was a favourite untill now, but if I have to choose one, I will go with Colossal coz I think the pigmentation and intensity is better and also lining eyes is a little quicker with it. Price wise, Colossal Liner comes with more than double the quantity so it would last longer too.

It stays on for 7-8 hours with minimal smudging, but it is not waterproof. Comes off easily with water. Can be carried along anywhere and everywhere.

My new current favourite..absolutely recommend this! I hope they come up with many different shades in a similar pen format and tip with equally amazing pigmentation.

Oriflame The ONE Eyeliner Stylo Review,Swatches

Oriflame The ONE Eyeliner Stylo Review,Swatches

Hey guys,

Its been a long time I did a proper review..so here is one with The ONE.

What the Company claims: Oriflame The ONE Eyeliner Stylo has a soft felt tip which delivers a smooth, precise line without dragging or stopping. It is suitable for contact lens wearers, and is Ophthalmologically tested. The intense pigments deliver rich colour intensity and have been given a positive response of 99% when consumer tested on 67 women. Also it lasts upto 24 hours.

MRP: Rs.499/- for 0.8ml

The ONE Eyeliner Stylo comes in a sleek pen packaging with a long, stiff tip that is just perfect to draw a smooth line.

These swatches are just one swipe and I absolutely loved the pigmentation. I like a few liners which are nice and thin tip but the formulation is such that you have to go over the liner 2-3 times to get a decently pigmented line since they are thin/water based. Pigmentation wise, it gets a big thumbs up.

It comes in 2 shades, Blue and Black. While the black is more pigmented, I would definitely love to see more shades introduced in this like jewel green, purple, brown, etc.

It stays for around 6-7 hours with minimal fading later and comes off with a normal makeup remover. Does not smudge or smear.

It is slightly on the expensive side but mostly on offers, so look out for them and grab them when at a good discount.

I would have preferred a thinner tip coz I like very thin, subtle liner on me. Though its perfect for my winged liner days. But if you love thick liners or are a winged liner person, this will ease your life!

Only issue is available through Oriflame reps only.

Overall, I am quite impressed with the pigmentation and quality, would love more colors and maybe a thinner tip.

Oriflame The ONE Colour Impact Cream Eyeshadows Review,Swatches

Oriflame The ONE Colour Impact Cream Eyeshadows Review,Swatches

What the Company claims:

  • Easy to apply and blend for even results.
  • Cream to powder like texture – goes on creamy and transforms to a powder for colour intensity
  • Supreme pigment pay off
  • Pearly to matte shades with a velvetty sheen.

Shades Available:

  • Olive Green
  • Deep Indigo
  • Shimmering Steel
  • Rose Gold
  • Golden Brown
  • Intense Plum

MRP: Rs.449/- for 4g

I love cream eyeshadows and when Oriflame came up with these The ONE Range of cream eyeshadows, I knew I had to try them. Cream eyeshadows are easy and quick to use and my savior when I am in a hurry which is a majority of the times.

They come in a small pot jar with a purple color lid. The jar is quite sturdy and would not break as such.

The texture is rich and creamy and the cream finish is super easy to use and blend and it sets within 1-2 minutes to a pigmented powder form. So one needs to layer and blend quickly. Darker shades are quite pigmented especially the brown, Plum and Steel however need some layering.

They stay for 6-7 hours with minimal creasing or fading. It does start fading later on, but with a good primer can stay even longer.

You would need a good waterproof makeup remover to remove these completely.

Golden Brown is a rich chocolate brown with gold shimmer

Shimmering Steel is a light steel grey with silver shimmer

Intense Plum is bluish purple with silver shimmer

I think these are just perfect to use when you are in a hurry, just blend, layer and set and you are good to go for the day. I love the golden brown especially since it is very versatile and would go with many outfits on different occasions. Shimmering Steel is perfect for soft smokey eyes and Intense Plum with some of your blue, purple toned Indian wear!

I absolutely recommend them. For their price point, they are quite a steal. Only issue with Oriflame would be the availability as you would need to order them though reps.

The Mumbai Bride Diaries: Bride in the Making Pics

The Mumbai Bride Diaries: Bride in the Making Pics

Hey guys,

Remember I had announced in my previous post that Cory Walia is my Bridal MUA who is a part of Lakme Absolute Bridal Dream Team.

Let me tell you I was very nervous. I thought he would be very moody types or something but I was so so wrong. He was very very sweet and warm. A very down to earth and jovial person. We both are Sagittarians :p We chatted a lot and he made me feel quite comfortable.

Starting with the goof ups, he and his team members Poonam and Priya already reached the venue at 9am even before we reached :/ And I still had to sit for the pre wedding mandva puja which took another 40 minutes or so. We had ample time to get ready so that was not an issue, but still I did not want to make him wait. He was very calm though and had his breakfast peacefully.

Later on when we started with the makeup, my jewellery box went missing. I was going nuts :/ My friends and family took rounds to home to check while all the time it was in the same bag right in front of us and no one could find it :/ Yes, all this usually happens on the day of your wedding. Something similar happened with my bhai’s sherwani on the day of his wedding 😀

Finally we found it, and untill that time we did the basic makeup, etc. Jewellery was required before hair for the maang tikka etc placing.

I also learned some tips and tricks for him. He said I am the first bride he is working on who knows so much about makeup and makeup brands and is so knowledgeable, that he loved doing my makeup 🙂

Here are a few pics of ‘in process’ :p

After the base, Cory used the Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Compact to set the base. He used the Face Stylist Blush Duos and Lakme Eye Quartet.

He made a slight wing with the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate and lined the waterline too with it. (I love it too..was carrying only this liner/kajal for my honeymoon)

A small nazar ka tikka too with the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate.

And last but not the least mascara..

We did not have flowers and Cory wanted to add them to the bun, so he went and got some flowers from the wedding mandap 😀

And with the jewellery..

I will show you the complete look with the two sarees and the dupatta and more pics with him in the next post 🙂

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Collection Review,Swatches

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Collection Review,Swatches

What the Company claims: The Chocolate Bar experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelops you. The eye shadows are pigmented with pure, antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and includes 16 matte and shimmer shades of natural browns, delicate pinks and luscious plums. Includes our signature how-to Glamour Guide with three looks to get you started.

Too Faced Co-Founder and Creative Director Jerrod Blandino was inspired to combine the power of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and makeup while having a chocolate facial and learning about the benefits of cocoa at a Hawaiian spa. Based on this inspiration we created our best-selling bronzer Chocolate Soleil and then Milk Chocolate Soleil and have now added the Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette.

New Shades:
Glided Ganache
White Chocolate
Milk Chocolate
Salted Caramel
Black Forest Truffle
Triple Fudge
Marzipan
Semi-Sweet
Strawberry Bon Bon
Candied Violet
Amaretto
Hazelnut
Creme Brulee
Haute Chocolate
Cherry Cordial
Champagne Truffle

MRP: $49

You can buy it HERE.

Finally the review. Its the most beautiful and gorgeous palette I won! And trust me, I own many :p But what can beat chocolate?! It looks like a chocolate bar and all the eyeshadows smell like chocolate too! Like what more would one need.

It has 16 shades from the nudes, beige to browns, purples, etc. The pigmentation is beyond amazing, I just touched the eyeshadow for swatches and I got real powder pigment coming out. The metallic and satin finish needed just a small touch not even a complete swipe for swatch. Matte shades in any palette are not usually very pigmented. But not here, the mattes are rich and pigmented too especially the browns. 1-2 matte shades out of the entire 16 would be a bit less pigmented. But none are chalky or dry, all the shadows are super creamy.

It comes with a guide for three different eye makeup looks.

They stay for a good 6-7 hours even without a primer and more so with a primer. I think this palette has all the shades one would ever need, unless you are a ‘brights’ person. I am a neutral lover and this one is just perfect for me. I reach for it all the time even though I have other palettes including Too Faced Palettes.

Shades:

Left:

Gilded Ganache: Satin finish darkened chocolate brown with gold shimmer

White Chocolate: Matte pale beige for highlighting the brow bone

Salted Caramel: Matte medium peachy brown

Marzipan: Warm peach with frosted metallic finish

Semi Sweet: Matte medium brown with red undertones

Hazelnut: Medium golden bronze with metallic finish

Creme Brulee: Darkened molten gold with rich, metallic finish. One of the best in the palette

Haute Chocolate: Dark chocolate brown with red undertones and frost finish

Right:

Milk Chocolate: Matte medium brown, its almost my skin shade. Good for blending.

Black Forest Truffle: Burgundy brown with burgundy and bronzer shimmer

Triple Fudge: Matte deep dark brown

Strawberry Bon Bon: Matte cool toned light pink

Candied Violet: Smoky violet with blue and pink shimmer

Amaretto: Frost warm toned medium brown with red undertones

Cherry Cordial: Matte plumy brown with some flecks of shimmer

Champagne Truffle: Off white with a golden sheen and metallic finish. Perfect for inner corners of eyes.

I think this is one perfect palette for everyone and a must have. All the necessary shades you will ever need. Carry only this for your holiday, weddings, etc and you are sorted. Highly recommended!

with an almond oil formula which gives your hair 24-hour nourishment

v   Its non-sticky  nourishing quality  infuses the hair with strength and prevents hair fall

Gone are the days when one would refrain from stepping out of the house with the fright of embarrassment caused by oily hair. Pantene, for the first, launches a Pro-Vitamin Hair Oil instilled with an almond oil formula which gives your hair 24-hour nourishment, infusing it with strength and thereby, preventing hair fall. More importantly, its an amalgamation of completely non-sticky and nourishing qualities, making it an ideal oil meant for outdoors – almost like a fashion accessory, you’d love to flaunt without any embarrassment! Apart from the wide gamut of benefits it lends your hair with, the oil is a perfect accomplice for styling, strengthening, nourishing and reaping the benefits of the advanced Pro-V almond oil formula all at the same time.

“Pantene’s Pro-V Hair Oil is not just any ordinary oil that you apply, but one that enhances your look and ups your fashion quotient; Oil that you can step out with because it’s stickiness is barely noticeable,” says face of Pantene, Shilpa Shetty.

The key behind the efficacy of all Pantene products lies in Pro-Vitamin B5, otherwise known as Panthenol, which has remarkable qualities to improve and maintain healthy hair, its strength and elasticity. Studies have revealed that Pro-Vitamins penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand. The two ingredients that make-up Pantene’s Pro-Vitamin complex – Panthenol and Panthenyl Ethyl Ether – are carefully coupled in the formulation to restore health and shine from within.

Explains Pantene Hair Expert Coleen Khan, “I personally am of the opinion that oiling is extremely beneficial for your hair but I have seen many girls refrain from oiling due to the stickiness. Almond oil in particular has exceptional benefits! Being a rich source of magnesium it works wonders in preventing hair fall. What’s more, Pantene’s Pro-V oil promises to nourish your hair and prevent the stickiness altogether!”
