Flared Jeans: The Comeback of the 1990’s & Ways to Style It

Flared Jeans: The Comeback of the 1990’s & Ways to Style It

By Sanchaita

Flared Jeans were out-of-the fashion scene throughout the 2000’s, mainly because skinny and super-skinny jeans were winning hearts all over the world, and why not? They are extremely well-fitted and looked so good. But now, the fashion from the gone eras is making a comeback, be it Palazzo’s, Crop-tops, Flared Jeans, Midi’s, and so on.

In this article, I’m going to write about how to rock the Flared-Jeans and can look as good as skinny jeans, and is so much more comfortable than the skinny ones because let’s admit it, no matter how good a pair of skinny jeans look, they are too-tight to breathe-in and too uncomfortable during the harsh summer days, and yeah, we do need to shift to something different after years of wearing the same skin tight jeans!

The Summer-Spring Look

Flared Jeans: The Comeback of the 1990’s & Ways to Style It, Indian Fashion Blog

Flared Jeans can be paired up with a summer-top or even a crop-top. This outfit is perfect for a casual day out with friends, or for movies. Semi-fitted or well fitted tops will look better with the flared jeans as loose or ill fitted tops will fail to give some balance to your body, thus making you look shabby. Pair these jeans with wedges, and you’re good to go!

The Winter Look

Long sweaters and the flared jeans- best look for a chilly winter day. Pair this look with a matching accessory- a chunky necklace or earrings, and/or a handbag, with light makeup. With Flared Jeans, heels or wedges is preferred because if you wear flats instead, the bottom-part of the jeans will be dragging through the floor, and undoubtedly look bad.

The Distressed Look

Yes, ripped and distressed flared jeans do exist and look as good as ripped skinny jeans. Crop-top, spaghetti tops would look best with these pair of Jeans. This is the ready-for-Coachella kind of look. Hair tied into a messy pony or bun, and a sling, and you’re ready to rock!

The Cropped One

Cropped flared-jeans paired with a shirt and scarpin heels is one way to rock the bell-bottoms look. This look is great for formal settings, and jeans can be changed for flared pants, and it would look as good. Too-much cropped flared jeans/pants would look baggy.

The No-effort look

Pair the Jeans with a casual v-neck top, printed or plain, paired with sunglasses and a handbag/sling and you’re ready for a hot-summer day. This look is easy and for those days when you are feeling lazy and don’t really feel like dressing up.

The Kimono look

Kimonos are the current favourite. I see almost everyone around me wearing kimonos with a short-dress, with shorts, with skirts, and with a pair of skinny jeans. But, kimonos can be paired up with flared jeans and tank tops and they look great! If doesn’t matter if your kimono is plain or printed, try wearing it with a pair of flared jeans and you’ll do justice to the boho-vibes.

The other-colours look

Flared-Jeans doesn’t always have to be blue (the basic denim colour). It can be red, or black, purple or even pink. Go for your favourite coloured flared jeans, and rock it either with a solid coloured shirt or striped or even floral, because hey, bold is beautiful.

The Biker-Look

Who said leather jackets look good only with skin-tight jeans or pants? When you wear a leather jacket with flared-jeans, they not only look classy, but they add a bit of texture to your outfit as well. There are so many other ways to rock the flared-jeans, all you need to do is find the right pair of the flared-jeans, some accessories, be it sunglasses, scarves, chunky pieces of jewellery and you’re ready to conquer the world woman!

Editor’s Note: Oo..I love this compilation Sanchaita, I remember wearing my flared jeans a lot when I was in college 🙂 I am so glad it’s back.

What do you guys think of the flared jeans trend? And how do you prefer to style it?

OOTD: Powder Blue Jumpsuit

OOTD: Powder Blue Jumpsuit

Hi guys,

So I had this powder blue ‘Flying Kisses’ Jumpsuit from StalkBuyLove since a long time, but never got a chance to wear it, finally I wore this to the Oppo F1 Plus Launch event in Delhi.

We were staying at The Lalit and we clicked the pics there. Magali helped me with the pics.

To start with, I love the powder blue colour of this jumpsuit, and it’s perfect for this Spring/Summer. I paired the jumpsuit with my Steve Madden clogs and a deep navy blue Michael Kors sling.

Also my recent addition the new Daniel Wellington watch in Classic Durham. If you don’t already know, I am obsessed with Daniel Wellington watches and have about 4 now, with 2 new additions making it 6. Durham is the new launch in the Classics range of 36mm. And as always I go for Rose Gold Dial. The light brown American Leather strap makes it ideal to pair with a lot of outfits from casual to formal. They have also launched the new ‘Dapper’ range which is slightly smaller i.e. 34mm and has blue hands and also displays date. I got the Bristol in Dapper which you will be seeing a lot on my Instagram.

I also have a flat 15% off Daniel Wellington coupon code ‘DWBHUMIKA’ and it is valid till 31st May. They have free shipping worldwide, I do recommend getting a Classic or Dapper, as they work with everything and having at least one Daniel Wellington watch in your collection is a must, especially if you are a watch collector/lover.

I kept the outfit in shades of blue with tan shoes and watch. The idea was to keep jumpsuit the focus here, you can always use a pop of colour in your shoes or bag or accessories. The same jumpsuit is available in 2-3 different colors, so you can check those out if you prefer a darker color.

Jumpsuit: StalkBuyLove
Shoes: Steve Madden
Watch: Daniel Wellington
Bag: Michael Kors

On my lips: L’Oreal Paris Pure Reds Pure Garnet Lipstick

I hope you liked the outfit, do let me know in the comments below.

Step into the Legging Revolution

Step into the Legging Revolution

Modern day clothing is all about comfort, style and individualism. Leggings are a fine example of that. Undoubtedly, leggings are one of the greatest inventions in the women apparels department. Made out of comfortable, stretchable material, several celebrities, street fashionistas and every day women can be seen wearing them regularly. One of the greatest advantages of leggings is that it boasts of fashion alongside comfort debunking the age old theory “that comfort and fashion don’t go hand in hand”. So, if you don’t own a pair already, here are top 8 reasons why leggings are a wardrobe necessity.

Spews Comfort

Leggings are embodiment of comfort. The materials used to make leggings are either hosiery or cotton spandex. Both materials are highly breathable and stretchable. Plus it has an elastic band that allows it to comfortably rest on the waist. They are almost like your second skin and not an overwhelming piece of clothing that is restricting and uncomfortable.

Rather Versatile

When it comes to versatility of a garment, leggings take the cake. You can almost team it up with anything- crop tops, tunics, sweater, kurti, dress etc.

Colourful & Stylish

Besides basic black, grey, brown and white you can also buy printed leggings online or any women garment section of a store. Colourful leggings are chic, eclectic and synonymous with individual style. They come in all kind of colours and bold prints. You can pair them with a pair of boots for a bohemian getup or stilettos for a spunky style or regular white sneakers for a casual look.

Bid adieu to denims

According to Edited, the leaders in retail and apparel research, the sale of yoga pants and leggings have escalated by 341 % coupled with the decline of denims by 6% in US markets. This is a very important indication that leggings are not running out of style anytime soon. A lot of designers are taking this cue, making leggings an integral part of runway shows and fashion weeks around the world.

Reasonable Price point

In comparison to denim and jeans, leggings are reasonably priced. The price of regular cotton is anything between Rs. 250 to Rs. 300, lycra leggings can be purchased for Rs. 350 to 400. Printed leggings are a little expensive. You can buy printed leggings online for Rs. 600 to 800. If you compare these prices from the price of regular denims, leggings are most definitely reasonably priced.

Can be used all year round

One of the biggest advantages of leggings is that they can be worn throughout the year. Denims and jeans can get a little uncomfortable during hot summer months. On the other hand, leggings can be worn any time of the year be it summer or winter. These days you can also find leggings that come with a fleece lining. They can help you keep warm without having to do bulk layering. A lot of women also like to wear high rise boots during summer. The biggest advantages of leggings are they can easily be tucked inside a boot making you look stylish and chic.

Can be worn as pants

Can leggings be worn as pants? Well this is an ongoing debate that is constantly asked in the fashion world. Leggings are certainly not pants, but in my opinion, with the right top and shoes you can certainly pull the pant look with leggings. Try buying leggings in a size bigger which will give you the loose fit of a trouser, serving the purpose and yet comfortable.

Compliments any body size

It’s a misnomer that leggings only suit the super slim and thin people. On the contrary due to the stretch material, leggings fit and compliments any body size or type.

What do you think of leggings? Do let me know in the comments below.

Types of Anarkalis & Choosing Anarkali for your Body Type

Types of Anarkalis & Choosing Anarkali for your Body Type

Hi guys,

When it comes to Indian wear, anarkalis have been back in fashion since the past 5-6 years and they are still in trend, I don’t think that trend is going anywhere. Simply because they are super comfortable and easy to wear for weddings, etc. too. Anarkali is the only outfit which is traditional Indian wear and yet very comfortable to wear and roam around in 😀 When you get best of both worlds, stick to it.

Today I am talking about different types of anarkalis and how to choose one according to your body type.

1. Cotton Anarkali

These are the most simple and basic kinds, which you can wear to work or a light function. Comfortable yet traditional and very light. There are many options of anarkali suits online by BIBA and on Myntra, Jabong, etc.

2. Silk Anarkali

Silk ones can be a little heavier or lighter depending on the embellishments on it, but certainly expensive. You can go for the lighter silk ones for a daytime function and the heavier ones for some big function or wedding.

3. Asymmetric Anarkali

Asymmetric Anarkalis are quite in trend and look chic too. These again can be in lighter cotton ones or heavier silk or bridal ones. I love how it is shorter in the front and slightly longer behind, this would work on short girls too. I know how it is difficult to find a anarkali when you are short. Been there :/

4. Layered Anarkali

Again just like the asymmetric ones, layered ones are also pretty IN and I absolutely love them. They give a jacket kind of look or 2-3 layers which are shorter and keep on increasing in length. Currently the mesh capes are quite in trend and would look good over an anarkali too.

5. Bridal Anarkali

Now this is something very heavy, Sikh brides usually wear a suit or anarkali during their Anand Karaj. They can opt for a super heavy embellished anarkali. Also if you want to wear one for your mehendi or sangeet, the bridal ones are perfect.

Choosing an Anarkali according to body type

Inverted Triangle- If you have an inverted triangle body type i.e top heavy with broad shoulders, avoid boat necks, high neck collars or bulky shoulder patterns as that will bring more attention towards the broad shoulders.

Hourglass- Well if you have an hourglass figure, all anarkalis will look fabulous on you. Just make sure it accentuates your waist well and the flare starts below the waist.

Apple shaped- If you are apple shapes, wear empire line silhouettes in anarkalis which means the flare starting just below your waist which will help you hide your core problem area.

Pear shaped- If you have a well defined waist, then you can go for anarkalis starting below the waist and the flare will hide your lower problem area or else again empire line will work the best.

Short, petite girls- If you are short or petite, go for shorter kurtas with less flare as you don’t want the anarkali to look like a gown and neither like you wearing a tent.

If you are tall, anarkalis are made for you! You can wear them anytime, anywhere 😀

I hope this helped, do let me know in the comments below. If you are a bride-to-be, keep these tips in mind and choose an anarkali according to your body type.

Do you like Anarkalis? Which is your favourite type?

Zotiqq January Jewellery Subscription Box Unboxing, Review

Zotiqq January Jewellery Subscription Box Unboxing, Review

Hi guys,

I have unboxed and reviewed a lot of subscription boxes till now on the blog from makeup, beauty to food. This is the first time I am reviewing a jewellery subscription box.

Zotiqq is an online fashion & lifestyle portal where they have monthly jewellery subscription boxes and one can also buy the pieces they like individually. It is the brainchild of a fellow beauty blogger and friend Ritu Rajput, most of you must be knowing her, her blog is called ‘The Indian Beauty’

MRP: Rs.1500/- per month (Buy HERE)

The Zotiqq jewellery subscription box is priced at Rs.1500/- per month but if you have 3 months, 6 months or 12 months subscription, you get an amazing deal!

Coming to the January subscription box, it was the ‘New Year’ theme and hence had sparkly baubles. Let’s see what they are..

It comes in this royal blue and beige packaging, the box in itself is quite sturdy and nice and good to stock your jewellery or makeup. It comes nicely bubble wrapped and no jewellery was damaged. Each item is individually stored inside the box in a plastic cover, which is nice coz many a times the jewellery gets entangled within each other.

I got 5 items in this month’s box.

First two are a diamante statement neckpiece and matching set of statement earrings which can be worn together or individually.

Red tube mesh filled with rhinestones, statement neckpiece

My favourite from the lot, a statement cocktail ring.

And a pretty hand harness which will work with so many different outfits.

I like the theme based box and getting 4-5 pieces together at a price of Rs.1500/- coz individually these jewellery pieces cost a lot more. Definitely worth your money and I do recommend trying this jewellery subscription box.

I am not sure if the January box would be still available, but you can book the Feb subscription box right now 🙂

Have you tried any Jewellery Subscription Boxes before? What did you like the most?

The Various Styles Of Rado Watches For Your Man

The Various Styles Of Rado Watches For Your Man

In the luxury watch industry, the Rado name is a firmly established one. Since its 1917 establishment in a Swiss village, this watchmaker has gone on to scale numerous peaks in watch-manufacturing technology and innovation.

Rado has enjoyed a reputation for flair and ground-breaking technology-driven design ever since they made the world’s first scratch-resistant watch in 1962.

If you’re looking to buy a luxury watch that’s both smart and snazzy, you’ll need to look no further; the Rado selection includes a number of models to suit every taste. Choosing one can get a bit confusing with the sheer variety on offer.

Fret not, though! This guide will give you a short but thorough description of the various Rado product lines. Whether you buy your Rado watches online from retailers like Zimson or from other any other retailer this will help you choose the watch that’s just right for you.

The Rado HyperChrome Line

The design of these watches is inspired by the timeless classics made by Rado in the last century. These watches are the high range designer’s signature models for any occasion.

HyperChrome models come in a number of styles to suit every watch lover’s personal taste, and there are over 70 models on offer.
The pride of this model line are the HyperChrome watches in high-tech ceramic; they do away with the stainless steel core of previous ceramic models. Instead, these are crafted from a single piece of sleek-looking injected ceramic. These models promise comfort, durability, and great looks.

It’s not all male-only, though; smaller date models made especially for ladies include classy diamonds on the bezel, dial, and even the side inserts. There truly is a HyperChrome for everyone!

The DiaMaster Family

Rado’s DiaStar 1, launched way back in 1962, was the world’s first scratch-resistant watch. These DiaMaster timepieces are touted as the new face of an old legend, and more than live up to the expectations.

These stylish and durable versions of the old ultra-durable Rado watches have their own identity: large open dials for great visibility. With that said though, the design is still diverse enough to include large ultra-masculine chronographs and tasteful diamond-studded bijous.

Drawing from Rado’s famed material expertise, your DiaMaster is made from elements like a number of shades of ceramic, or leather or carbon-diffused steel. Given the versatility of these materials, you will have no trouble finding one that suits your tastes.

The Rado V10K

Though this refers not to a series but a model, the V10K is so unique that it warrants its own description here.

Rado has named this model based on its hardness rating; the watch has been scored at 10,000 Vickers, which is as hard as the average diamond! For comparison, stainless steel is rated at 200 on this scale.

It isn’t all hardness and masculine posing though; the V10K has also been carefully designed using sapphires and diamonds.

The Esenza Line

Rado’s Esenza line consists of elegantly designed models that are designed with women in mind, though not exclusively for them. Most Esenza watches are made for women, but men have a few choices here as well.

The design cue here seems to be smooth, sleek, and sensual. This line gave rise to the world’s first ceramic touch-controlled watch. In a world where technological breakthroughs are mostly focused on men, this watch made a significant difference by being designed exclusively for women.

There are diamond-encrusted models in this line as well. Whatever your taste, there’s an Esenza for you.

And That’s Not All…

Rado’s amazing product line contains much more than these lines.

The Ceramica line showcases the company’s material expertise; the Original line consists of a number of modern classics; all the products lines showcase this watchmaker’s dedication to beautiful and innovative devices that are much more than just watches.

Whether you want an uber-masculine large chronograph, a pretty diamond-studded ladies’ watch, or the world’s hardest watch, Rado has got it all.

Buy one today and see for yourself what the hype about these watches is all about!

What do you think of Rado watches? Which one do you like?

#LIVAProtege 2015 Finale Fashion Show & Winners

#LIVAProtege 2015 Finale Fashion Show & Winners

Hi guys,

If you follow me on twitter (@bhumika_t) you know I attended the LIVA Protégé Finale Fashion Show on 23rd Dec, 2015. It was at the Palladium Hotel, the same stage where Lakme Fashion Week takes place but a different set up ofcourse.

Also last month in November, I had gone for the Mumbai mentoring session at Shruti Sancheti, the Mumbai mentor’s residence. She went through Diksha and Jasmine, the Mumbai finalists’ designs and gave them some recommendations, etc.

If you remember my #UnboxWithLiva event and my outfit, you know how amazingly soft, comfortable and fluid the LIVA fabric is.

Let me tell you a little more about Liva Protégé: Liva Protégé is not just another hunt for the best fashion designers, but a mission dedicated to the Indian fashion industry.

Powered by Liva – a new-age fabric designed to infuse incredible fluidity into garments, from the house of Birla Cellulose, Liva Protégé aims to tap into the great Indian talent pool and ensure that promising fashion designers in India get their rightful place under the sun, and help India keep shining across the global fashion landscape.

Starting this year, Liva Protégé will be an annual, pan-India hunt for the brightest fashion designers in the country.

The first edition – Liva Protégé 2015 – saw participants create evening wear from Liva fabrics. Innovative designs that have the potential to turn heads, became the flavour of the season, and propelled their creators to fashion stardom.

Liva Protégé 2015 saw 100+ budding designers from 50+ Leading Fashion Design Institutes go through 4 gruelling rounds. 6 different cities. 6 mentors. 12 Finalists.

Mentors were Shruti Sancheti from Mumbai, Sahil Kochhar from Delhi, Soham Dave from Ahmedabad, Agnimitra Paul from Kolkata, Manoviraj Khosla from Bengaluru and Chaitanya Rao from Chennai.

The Finale was judged by Soha Ali Khan, Prasad Naik, Ananya Birla, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Nandini Bhalla.

I absolutely loved each of the 12 themes and every theme was totally different from the other. From different cities of India to different emotions to different art forms, each participant was given an unique theme and how they designed the outfits based on the theme was commendable! Not only the outfits but everything from the makeup, hair, accessories and shoes to the background, lighting and music matched perfectly to the themes. It was one spectacular show and I can say, one of the best fashion shows I have seen! The show also had a beautiful musical dance performance in between which left us mesmerized!

Every outfit was made with LIVA fabric and it was by and large established as a fashion fabric at LIVA Protégé ’15.

The winners were:

Winners

SAGARIKA JOSHI from Bengaluru  is the 2nd runner up. She was mentored by Manoviraj Khosla, her theme was ‘Taraxacum’, the plant family (also known as ‘Dandelion’)

NITIN GUPTA  from Ahmedabad is the 1st runner up. He was mentored by Soham Dave and his theme was Jaipur- Pink City, Blue Tale. I loved how he combined the Jaipur elements but in a blue theme.

RITURANA DEORI from Ahmedabad is the WINNER of LIVA Protégé 2015. He was also mentored by Soham Dave. His theme was Melancholia.

I wish all the best to all participants and they all were amazing, I know each of these 12 budding designers are going to be huge one day coz the talent was very much visible! The fact that LIVA is giving these budding designers a platform to showcase their talent and a chance to make big, is worthy of appreciation. I am really looking forward to more of #LIVAFluidFashion in LIVA Protégé 2016 now 🙂

Dungarees 101: How To Rock Dungarees

Dungarees 101: How To Rock Dungarees

Hi guys,

Today’s post is quite different, it is not the usual OOTD post, but a post dedicated exclusively to Dungarees. Let me tell all about dungarees, the history, how to dress it up, dress it down.

Starting with the history of dungarees, they have been around since the late 1700’s. Dungarees were worn by farmers, slaves and the likes since they were inexpensive and not prone to easy tear but also carried a stigma of low status for the same reason. Women started wearing them during World Wars coz it was the perfect material for those working in factories. They came back in fashion in the 40’s and 50’s starting with children wear and since then, they have been quite famous and IN and OUT of fashion.

Dungarees are back again in fashion and they come in different types and styles, from shorts to skirts to trousers style, denim style, suspenders, ripped denims, etc. They can be paired in a million ways and can be dressed up or dressed down. Dungarees are easy to wear and super comfortable. See a lot of dungarees here on StalkBuyLove.com

Although they have always mostly been associated with casual style, today I am showing you how I dress up my basic black dungarees for a formal, evening look!

Also we shot this small lookbook 🙂

I am wearing this basic, black trouser style dungarees with a simple white crop top and dressed it up with my trusted black blazer and nude heels. I added a pop of colour with this pastel pink Kate Spade bag. My current favourite wood watch from Jord watches completes this look!

Dungarees, Crop top: StalkBuyLove
Bag: Kate Spade
Heels: Steve Madden
Watch: Wood Watches

I love the look and feel of the wood watch, they work with both casual and formal wear and look quite unique. Jord watches have free shipping worldwide, they customize the watch for your size and have 1 year warranty. Do check out the site mentioned above to see more of their pieces.

Of course, we can’t forget the casual way when it comes to dungarees. I am wearing this denim skirt dungarees in a fun, casual way with a white cap, the ‘Rose Chic’ rose pink back pack and holographic silver shoes. The white tee has red sequin heart on the elbows 🙂

I wear my heart on my elbow 😀

This is more of a ‘Back to School’ kind of look and it was so much fun shooting this.

Queen Of Good Times 🙂
