It’s a vibrant and bolder palette to play with and I’m looking forward to the best ever finale show.”

With its world-class runway showcase and backstage expertise, Lakmé brings the best of fashion and beauty to the forefront every season. The brand along with Gaurav Gupta, will once again reinvent the finale stage at the most anticipated show on 30th August at the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.

With 6 matte and 10 creme shades and in crayon form, it looks interesting. These are priced at Rs.650/- which is pretty decent. I am really looking forward to the matte shades coz I absolutely love the Lakme Absolute Sculpt High Definition Matte Lipsticks. Victorian Rose and Pink Fantasy look the most interesting to me.

What do you think of the new Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts?

Lakme Salon #TheSculptLook Makeover,Vlog & Contest

Lakme Salon #TheSculptLook Makeover,Vlog & Contest

Hi guys,

A few days ago I went to the Lakme Salon to try out the new Sculpt Look. Read all about the hair and makeup in The Sculpt Collection HERE.

There are various hairstyles and different makeup looks which form part of the Sculpt collection, it is all about the chiseled, sculpted look and a lot of contouring on the face, sharp hairstyles, etc.

You can always get it tweaked a bit according to your face shape and how you want to wear it. I loved the Marsala Stairs haircut and style, but that was something very, very sharp and the stylist Shefali told me I would need to straighten my hair all the time for the effect of the stairs to show otherwise it would not look good on me. Another option was The Pixel Bob but then again I did not want to go that short. Rest were buns which would work perfect with gowns or something Indian.

Hair

We went with the Victorian Matte look, but since I was wearing a casual tee, the bun would not have looked good and we changed that into a sculpted pony with a pouf and a lot of back combing at the front.

For the makeup, the entire face was contoured and I was given a darker, warmer base. A wash of warm gold for the eyes and inner half of the lower lashline. The very long winged eyeliner did not work for my face, so we went with kitten flick and kept the lips matte and dark too.

A closer look at the makeup

For the lips, Pallavi used the new Lakme Absolute Sculpt Matte lipstick in ‘Pink Me Up‘ and applied it with a brush, giving the lips a perfect sculpted shape.

Since the lights at the salon were bright and yellow, colors appear a bit different.

Here is my ‘Before’ and ‘After’

Coming back to my review, I tried the app on myself of course :p

Here I have tried the foundation and the concealer, the concealer looks a little yellow. So, the brightness of the pic, the phone, the camera are certain factors that we will need to keep in mind and that varies a lot on different images.

My phone is usually the brightest, so I had to tone down the intensity of colored makeup products. Also, the way you set your eyes and lips will not be 100% accurate, so do not be frightened if you look like a clown in between 😀 Just re-adjust the eyes and lips to as close as you can, and tone down the intensity of the blush, eyeshadows and lipsticks.

I tried the peach blush, eyeshadow and lipstick here..

You can try and check the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ which will come up half and half on your face, save it, share it. Check the list of products used and either take a note of shades or buy directly on the app.

There are a lot of new ‘Pro Stylist’ Looks and many of Shraddha Kapoor’s new looks from ABCD and a few of Kareena Kapoor’ s looks from new collection launches at LFW, so if you want need a particular shade which Kareena or Shraddha wore, just check the makeup breakdown, maybe try the particular shade on yourself and click ‘Buy’ and get it delivered at your home! Life was never that simple, right? 😀

I think this app is a must try, atleast you can experiment a lot of different looks and shades on yourself and check what shades look good on you.

  • Coral Flare
  • Burgundy Affair
  • Tangerine Lush
  • Rose Bloom
  • Pink Glam

I am reviewing the shade Pink Caress and Tangerine Lush today. The packaging is same as the Lakme Absolute Gloss Addict Lipsticks, silver body  with a transparent cap.

It is sturdy and travel friendly, while I was swatching the lipsticks, I thought maybe the lipstick bullet may come off since I was going over it quite a few times, but it is sturdy enough and stayed put 😀

It has a slight sweet artificial smell which I did not like, but it goes away in a minute or two, and does not hamper.

Coming to the finish and texture, I would say I LOVE it! Perfect matte finish, goes on smooth, does not dry out the lips and feels very very light on the lips.

Only thing is you need to swipe 2-3 times to get the perfect opaque coverage. It stays on for 6-7 hours with minimal fading and survives tea and light snacks. It is not completely transfer proof, but I guess that’s ok.

L-Pink Caress, R- Tangerine Lush

While the Lakme Absolute Gloss Addict Lipsticks were priced at Rs.800, I feel these are amazing comparatively at Rs.700. And with the quality these come with, I don’t mind the price at all since most of the new launches currently have been priced quite high by all the brands. (You know what I am talking about :D)

Up-Pink Caress, Down- Tangerine Lush

It is not as bright as it appears in the tube and swatches a bit different..both the shades are candy like and pretty young and vibrant

L-Pink Caress, R- Tangerine Lush

Pink Caress is a beautiful matte candy pink. My favourite of the two

Tangerine Lush is a medium orange, not to bright or neon or in your face. Quite wearable

Overall, I would say these are quite fabulous and I am in love with them! My current new love <3 Highly recommended!

Rating: 4.5/5

Also loving the shades Pink Me Up and Plum Shell.

Styling the new Lakme #HairIsFashion Hairstyle and Win a Hair Makeover

Styling the new Lakme #HairIsFashion Hairstyle and Win a Hair Makeover

Hey guys,

Remember my new Lakme Absolute Salon #HairIsFashion Show Stopping Hair makeover HERE. I am in love with the subtle highlights and the cut Shefali gave me.

The highlights get a bit lighter and more visible after a few washes..so they are a little more prominent now.

How I would love to style my new hair?

With western/casual clothes, I love the way its blow dried here. I would prefer doing the same..straight locks with in between subtle hints of highlights on the crown and from behind the neck. The auburn looks perfect with a brick red lipstick here.

With Indian wear like a saree/dress, I would go with softer curls on the ends turning them outwards something like this..

Or add some embellishment with bangs similar to this (I am thinking of experimenting with short bangs)

Or side swept hair with waves..

Curls pinned to one side something similar to this..

Can’t wait to try different hairstyles..would definitely update you guys with pics of more trials..

For now, here is a contest for you guys..one of you gets a chance to win this Show Stopping Hair Makeover at Lakme Salon.

My Lakme #HairIsFashion ‘Show Stopping Hair’ Makeover

My Lakme ‘Show Stopping Hair’ Makeover

Hey guys,

Remember the Lakme Show Stopping Hair Collection I had posted about HERE and also the show I attended at Lakme Fashion Week W/F’14 which was styled by Little Shilpa.

The collection includes three dramatic themes:

• ‘Illusion’, inspired by the natural phenomenon of the ‘Northern Lights’, it is a playful fusion of colors

• ‘Metamorphosis’ inspired by the complex art forms of postmodern Paris, it is the line of dual hairstyles and textures ranging from straight and curly, to short and long

• ‘Moulin Rouge’, a modern take on the ‘classic elegant’ with bouffants and waves

So I have never ever colored my hair and was very apprehensive but still wanted to give it a shot. I was given an appointment at the Lakme Absolute Salon, Bandra which by the way is the most awesome Lakme Salon in Mumbai. I love that place, been there 3-4 times, its always a pleasure.

I chose the hairstyle in the below pic..

I was attended by Shefali (who btw is amazing) I told her my apprehensions that I want to maintain the length of my hair and I am coloring for the first time, so something very dark and minimal. She heard me out and suggested me the best route we could work on, also since I had cut my hair just a month ago for the wedding, she said the hair flow is perfect and she will just texturize a bit and no need of chopping off.

She brought the hair color booklet (shown above) and played a small game with me as to which color do I naturally divert towards..and it was darker shades obviously. I did not want global color but subtle highlights. we went for streaks at the top and then at the ends starting below the neck with enough space in between for the color to be visible.

She suggested I go with auburn blend which would be perfect for my hair and will just play a peek a boo in between just as I wanted it.

We started with the hair color and it had to be kept on for about 35 minutes. I was also given steam since my hair was virgin which takes more time for the color to develop.

And later the hair was washed, blow dried and some texturizing wherever required. Shefali gave me slightly shorter bangs in the front as I like it that way.

Before-After

I loved the outcome! It was just perfect..the way I pictured it and wanted it to be. I was so happy with the results, I did not expect I would like color on my hair!

One of you will get a chance to experience this Show Stopping Hair Makeover..I will announce the contest soon 🙂

I hope you liked the result too..do let me know 🙂

Pre Bridal Services (Body) at Lakme Salon-Review & Experience

Pre Bridal Services (Body) at Lakme Salon-Review & Experience

Hey guys,

I had got a few of my pre bridal services done at Lakme Salon on 2nd Dec before the wedding. I would be sharing my experience of the same but would divide the same into separate categories such as body, hair, etc for ease and convenience and not make the post too long.

I finished all the services in a day at the Lakme Salon,Bandra since I hardly had time left.

Starting with the body, I got white chocolate wax done. I had tried chocolate wax 1-2 times but never tried white chocolate. They start with a pre wax lotion that removes any body lotion residue, etc which sometimes is a hindrance while waxing.

White Chocolate wax was very very smooth and not at all sticky. It came out super quick with the entire area’s hair removal at once. No going over the area 2-3 times as happens with regular wax at times.

My full hands and legs were done in about 30-40 minutes which was quite quick. They also use a post wax astringent lotion which helps in closing the pores, which is very important for me since I have sensitive skin and open pores gives me bumps and rashes.

Then I went for Body Polishing which is an absolute must try for brides to be. They start with cleansing the body, followed by astringent and exoliating gel.

Since I had got my waxing done just before this treatment, I had to skip exfoliation as my pores were still open. A body scrub made of oats, papaya, etc was then applied on the entire body.

Left- Scrub,Right- Mask

Post cleansing of the scrub, a mask was applied consisting of sandalwood, fuller’s earth (multani mitti),etc with the steam machine on, on each area step by step. And it was kept on for a few minutes and cleansed with normal water later.

Skin felt super soft and smooth. I was so occupied with work on the last few days before the wedding that I hardly got time to look after my body skin. And that I guess would be the common problem with most of the brides. This treatment is perfect coz it compensates for your lost time and takes care of the body skin within an hour.

Highly recommended for brides to be and even for others, you can try it once in a while. Especially if you have ingrowth, etc, this would help exfoliate the skin and help in reducing ingrowth and getting rid of dead skin cells too.
