#LIVAProtege 2015 Finale Fashion Show & Winners

Hi guys,

If you follow me on twitter (@bhumika_t) you know I attended the LIVA Protégé Finale Fashion Show on 23rd Dec, 2015. It was at the Palladium Hotel, the same stage where Lakme Fashion Week takes place but a different set up ofcourse.

Also last month in November, I had gone for the Mumbai mentoring session at Shruti Sancheti, the Mumbai mentor’s residence. She went through Diksha and Jasmine, the Mumbai finalists’ designs and gave them some recommendations, etc.

If you remember my #UnboxWithLiva event and my outfit, you know how amazingly soft, comfortable and fluid the LIVA fabric is.

Let me tell you a little more about Liva Protégé: Liva Protégé is not just another hunt for the best fashion designers, but a mission dedicated to the Indian fashion industry.

Powered by Liva – a new-age fabric designed to infuse incredible fluidity into garments, from the house of Birla Cellulose, Liva Protégé aims to tap into the great Indian talent pool and ensure that promising fashion designers in India get their rightful place under the sun, and help India keep shining across the global fashion landscape.

Starting this year, Liva Protégé will be an annual, pan-India hunt for the brightest fashion designers in the country.

The first edition – Liva Protégé 2015 – saw participants create evening wear from Liva fabrics. Innovative designs that have the potential to turn heads, became the flavour of the season, and propelled their creators to fashion stardom.

Liva Protégé 2015 saw 100+ budding designers from 50+ Leading Fashion Design Institutes go through 4 gruelling rounds. 6 different cities. 6 mentors. 12 Finalists.

Mentors were Shruti Sancheti from Mumbai, Sahil Kochhar from Delhi, Soham Dave from Ahmedabad, Agnimitra Paul from Kolkata, Manoviraj Khosla from Bengaluru and Chaitanya Rao from Chennai.

The Finale was judged by Soha Ali Khan, Prasad Naik, Ananya Birla, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Nandini Bhalla.

I absolutely loved each of the 12 themes and every theme was totally different from the other. From different cities of India to different emotions to different art forms, each participant was given an unique theme and how they designed the outfits based on the theme was commendable! Not only the outfits but everything from the makeup, hair, accessories and shoes to the background, lighting and music matched perfectly to the themes. It was one spectacular show and I can say, one of the best fashion shows I have seen! The show also had a beautiful musical dance performance in between which left us mesmerized!

Every outfit was made with LIVA fabric and it was by and large established as a fashion fabric at LIVA Protégé ’15.

The winners were:

Winners

SAGARIKA JOSHI from Bengaluru  is the 2nd runner up. She was mentored by Manoviraj Khosla, her theme was ‘Taraxacum’, the plant family (also known as ‘Dandelion’)

NITIN GUPTA  from Ahmedabad is the 1st runner up. He was mentored by Soham Dave and his theme was Jaipur- Pink City, Blue Tale. I loved how he combined the Jaipur elements but in a blue theme.

RITURANA DEORI from Ahmedabad is the WINNER of LIVA Protégé 2015. He was also mentored by Soham Dave. His theme was Melancholia.

I wish all the best to all participants and they all were amazing, I know each of these 12 budding designers are going to be huge one day coz the talent was very much visible! The fact that LIVA is giving these budding designers a platform to showcase their talent and a chance to make big, is worthy of appreciation. I am really looking forward to more of #LIVAFluidFashion in LIVA Protégé 2016 now 🙂

All About LIVA and #UnboxWithLiva/My OOTD

Hi guys,

On Saturday I attended an interesting event which was a wine and dine at Bungalow 9 in Bandra with team LIVA. There were a few bloggers, people from LIVA, RJ Archana and fashion choreographer Shy Kalra. The event was hosted by the lovely Freishia Bomanbehram. The USP of the event was everyone was supposed to come dressed up in LIVA and fortunately no two were in same outfits 😀 #UnboxWithLiva was all about not being boxed in synthetic fabrics and how in our forever busy lifestyle, we need clothing and fabric that does not box us but lets us free. A fabric which lets you be as comfortable throughout the day as you would be in your PJ’s and do whatever you wish to.

About LIVA:  Liva is a new-age naturally created fabric (in a pure or blended form) that transforms not just the garment but also the person wearing it. It is comfortable, soft, 100% natural, and eco-friendly. It is a part of ‘Aditya Birla’ group.

A fabric so fluid, so breathable, so comfortable… that it moves with you. It is designed keeping the new age woman in mind, this fabric defies all norms of conventional materials and aims to keep you going through the day without being weighed down.

LIVA is made from natural fibres which are produced from wood pulp, a natural renewable resource. The pulp used is from trees which are specifically grown for this purpose i.e. more new trees are planted than trees are cut. It gives the earth a much-needed green cover, saves 6-7 times more land in comparison to cotton, and saves 3-4 times more water than usual.

We got to know a lot about Liva and how it is not only comfortable but also eco – friendly, made from wood pulp, conserves water, everything about this fabric is only good!

Also there was a fun photo booth where we clicked lots of pictures with the Liva hashtag placards.

This was the first time I had tried a Liva garment and I was so surprised by how comfortable and light it was, the fabric is outstanding! You know how terrible hot and humid it is currently in Mumbai, it is around 34-35°C. I was wearing this dress since afternoon and in that 4-5 hours, not even once did I feel uncomfortable or rushing home and changing into my PJ’s. The fabric felt absolutely light and comfortable.

LIVA retails at AND, Global Desi, 109°F, Lifestyle, Pantaloons, Desi Belle at Central, Allen Solly and Van Heusen to name a few, but you have to specifically ask them for Liva fabric coz not all garments are Liva. Liva garments have a  separate pink ‘Liva’ tag on them.

I bought this pretty black and orange maxi dress from Global Desi, there were just 3 options at Global Desi, 2 maxi dresses and 1 midi dress. Of which I liked this one the most.

I also checked AND and 109°F, sadly AND did not have Liva garments in their new collection and the 109°F store I went to did not have good stock, so finally settled on Global Desi and I am glad coz I love this dress.

It fits beautifully and I love the black and sunset orange combination, the orange creates an ombre here and it also has pink, gold and black detailing on the ombre.

I paired it with my nude and gold clutch, a gold watch and black sandals. Since the outfit is quite bright and colorful, it created a statement in itself and no other accessories were required with it.
