L’Oreal Paris #BoldInGold Collection Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

L’Oreal Paris launched the new Bold in Gold Collection and I have the entire collection consisting of an eyeshadow palette, 7 lipsticks and 2 nail paints.

I have been trying these out since 3-4 days and here are my thoughts..

Have also done a video on the same..

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold La Palette

Claims: La Palette Gold consists of a unique selection of 10 exclusive shimmer shades, from subtle pinks to bold, shimmery golds and purples that allow you to unleash your creative side and create multiple glamorous eye looks for every occasion.

MRP: Rs.1450/-

It comes in the usual L’Oreal Paris La Palette packaging with a brush and sponge on each end and a mirror. The shades are all satin/shimmer finish and very pigmented.

All these swatches are two swipes each. There is a stunning olive green, warm bright gold, bronze pink, champagne, white gold, deep navy blue, aqua blue, gray and sea green.

I created this olive green and gold halo smokey eye with this palette. The shadows work better with fingers and I did not get the desired pigmentation with brushes. I tried different brushes but none transferred the product on the lids and finally I used my fingers.

Also there are no matte crease/blending shades in this palette and hence you will have to use it with some other shadows/palette for those shades.

The palette is not very travel friendly as one side of the shadow plate had come off when I opened it as the glue wasn’t enough on one side. It will shatter if dropped even once, so be careful with that.

I love the shades though and all are stunning and bright with decent pigmentation. I do recommend this palette, but you will have to use a base underneath as they blend sheer. I am not sure if it is Limited Edition, or wait for it to go on discount.

Coming to the Color Riche Lipsticks,

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipsticks

Claims: Get Set to be #BoldInGold. L’Oreal Paris introduces the latest beauty trend from Paris – Gold Obsession by Color Riche. Infused with precious 24 carat gold* for illuminated lips. (Note – *Particles coated with 24 carat gold. )

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession delivers intense moisture while providing a velvet matte finish. It’s unique formula contains Jojoba oil for unrivaled moisture and comfort along with matte gel technology to create an intense matte look.

Jojoba Oil keep lips hydrated

Highly pigmented for a rich matte effect

Available in 7 different shades.

Easy to apply and long lasting

MRP: Rs.1025/-

Shades:

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha, Le
Le, Rouge,Rose, Plum

Scarlet Gold– Beautiful cool toned cherry red

Coral Gold– Orangey coral but not neonish

Mocha Gold- Deep wine

Le Gold- Bright gold

Rouge Gold- Warm toned bright red

Rose Gold- Muted rosy pink

Plum Gold- Deep grape

All the shades have very fine shimmer (except Le Gold which has a lot of visible shimmer) and give a glossy, wet look to the lips. These are very, very pigmented and super moisturising on the lips. Be careful while applying, coz they literally melt in touch with lips and it might bleed. Make sure to powder around the lips well.

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha
Le. Rouge, Rose, Plum

Love the gold packaging and each lipstick has the name of the L’Oreal Paris Ambassador, same as with the Reds and Pinks collection earlier.

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha, Le
Rouge,Rose, Plum

I am so glad these are very wearable and do not have frosty, shimmery finish. I don’t like metallic or frosty finish lipsticks. Also the shimmer is hardly visible and they make for great shades to wear normally.

I love the Coral Gold, Rose Gold and Plum Gold. Also Le Gold is a nice shade to own to mix and match or wear as a topper.

I created this ombre lip with Le Gold and Plum Gold.

Also there are two nail paints in this collection, Violet Vendome which is a beautiful plum grape and Coral Trianon, a bright coral. I feel there should have been a bright metallic gold nail paint too, in this collection. The nail paints are priced at Rs.350/- each

I will update the pics wearing the nail paints in this post.

Overall I do recommend this range and I love all three products i.e. the eye shadow palette, lipsticks and nail paints in this collection. The range is available on Nykaa right now, and soon will be available on Amazon and other websites.

What do you think of the new L’Oreal Paris BoldInGold Collection?

March 2016 ‘More Power To You’ Fab Bag Unboxing & Review

March 2016 ‘More Power To You’ Fab Bag Unboxing & Review

Hi guys,

I just now got the March Fab Bag, it’s the ‘More Power To You’ Women’s Day/Month theme.

Read my previous Fab Bag reviews:

MRP: Rs.599/- per month (Buy HERE)

It’s a metallic silver textured bag and I knew the Sugar Cosmetics Matte Lipstick is a part of the bag coz I saw it on their Instagram page and assumed it would be this brand.

Let’s see what all I got:

  • Sugar Cosmetics ‘It’s A Pout Time’ Matte Vivid Lipstick in 03 Mad Magenta (Full sized)- Rs.599/-
  • Wella Professionals Elements Shampoo (30ml)- Rs.175/-
  • Wella Professionals Elements Conditioner (30ml)- Rs.200/-
  • Nykaa Strawberries & Cream Nail Enamel (5ml)- Rs.149/- for 10ml
  • Nyassa Tiramisu Body Scrub (30g)- Rs.900/- for 200g

I really like the Wella Pro Elements Range, read my review HERE. It is SLS and paraben free and perfect for colored/treated hair, this deluxe sample size is perfect to try out and/or for travel.

I am loving the Sugar Matte Lipstick, love their Matte Crayon too, so was looking forward to the lipstick. Quite excited to try that out. It comes in this magenta pink shade, a muted berry, a nude and a coral.

I have 3-4 of Nykaa nail paints and they are quite decent, I love this summery shade and would definitely be wearing it.

The Nyassa Tiramisu Body Scrub smells amazing, but since it’s a body scrub, this 30g sample would only work once.

Overall, I would say it’s a mixed bag, not a must have but pretty decent if you are into matte lipsticks and wanted to try the Wella Pro Elements Range, a nail paint and bag are added bonus 😀

The value of the products come to around Rs.1200/- which is still not bad and the deluxe sizes are decent too.

What did you get in your March Fab Bag? Do let me know in the comments below.

Jan 2016 Beauty Resolutions Fab Bag Review

Jan 2016 Beauty Resolutions Fab Bag Review

Hi guys,

So this time I received the Fab Bag at my mom’s place the My Envy Box at my old address, so the delay in review or posted on social media directly.

Read my previous Fab Bag reviews:

MRP: Rs.699/- per month (Buy HERE)

January 2016 Fab Bag theme is ‘Beauty Resolutions’ coz we all have New Year resolutions 😀 The makeup print on the bag is super pretty and this is the perfect cosmetic bag for travel or storage, one of my most favourite Fab Bag bags!

Let’s come to the products, so I had an option to select one product in this month’s bag out of all the makeup options, and I had already tried everything else, so I went with the Laqa & Co. Nail Polish Pen coz I have never tried a nail polish pen and it was a nice, summery peach shade which I can’t wait to wear in summers.

Products:
  • Natural Bath & Body French Red Clay Face Mask 20g (Full size Rs 450/- for 100 ml)
  • Natural Bath & Body Vitamin E Whipped Cream 15g (Full size Rs 275/- for 50 ml)
  • Laqa and Co. Nail polish pen  (Full size Rs.1000/- for 5ml)
  • Votre Face Serum Full size (Rs 1670/- for 12 ml)
  • BBlunt Spotlight Hair Polish mini- Rs.250/-

I love the sound of both the Natural Bath & Body products and also the ingredients are pretty good. The French Red Clay mask has virgin coconut oil, turmeric powder, sandalwood extract, beetroot powder, kaolin clay, fuller’s earth, etc. And the Whipped cream is a blend of Vitamin E and argan oil. The cream is perfect for winters but I would prefer using the clay based mask in summers as clay based masks dry out my skin more though the coconut oil should balance it out, my skin is already super dry these days and I won’t risk it.

The Laqa & Co. Nail polish pen is in the shade Tweedledee is a nice pastel peach shade and also my first nail polish pen, quite happy that it’s a full sized product, can’t wait to try it out.

I love using serums and oils especially at night and in winters, currently I am obsessed with The Body Shop Oils Of Life Revitalizing Facial Oil, and this Votre Face serum sounds amazing with all the blend of essential and cold pressed oils in the ingredients. But my only worry is only active ingredients are mentioned :/ I hope it doesn’t break me out coz the Just Herbs Rejuvenating Beauty Elixir in the previous Fab Bag did break me out. I like the fact that this again is a full sized product.

And last but not the least, the BBlunt spotlight mini hair spray. Now I have 2 of the full sized ones and also one mini of this and I absolutely love it, it is perfect for adding some shine post your hairstyle and it gives slight hold too, though not much. It doesn’t make your hair stiff or hard and gives a nice sheen on the hair. This mini version is perfect for travel and/or handbag.

In all, I would say I loved this month’s Fab Bag and the fact that I got two full sized products, one hair spray mini and 2 deluxe sized samples and all the products are pretty good. Absolutely recommend getting this month’s bag if you still haven’t, also the bag in itself is really cute & quite useful.

Last month’s bag was also quite good, I hope this continues coz the products and bags have been really good from the past 2-3 months (except Nov) Touchwood!

What did you get in your January 2016 Fab Bag? What makeup product did you choose?

Acetone v/s Non-Acetone Nail Polish Removers

Acetone v/s Non-Acetone Nail Polish Removers

By Ishleen

Why are acetone nail polish removers so much better for you!

Acetone or Non-acetone—that is the question?

We have been asked times innumerable about the safest way to remove nail polishes, are acetone based removers safe and whether or not non-acetone removers are better for the nails? So here we have a short post which hopefully will appease your queries.

The pondering over the question in regards to the safety of acetone removers is as intense as the heated debate on the health benefits of chocolate. But you do not need to drown in the frenzy of arguments, as we have planned to bring forward some logical set of reasonings.

What exactly is acetone?

Acetone is the second safest solvent in the nail industry, after water. And clearly, we cannot use water to remove nail polishes, because if we could, the nail industries would have never established. Ok, enough on that. Undoubtedly there are many other solvents in the world, but none are as safe as compared to acetone.

Does acetone have any health hazards?

Health hazards? No, not any that we have heard of. Some people tend to believe that acetone has the potency to aggravate carcinogens and thereby cause cancer. This is NOT THE TRUTH. No scientific institution or research has ever proved this.

Secondly, the market hype about non-acetone nail polish removers has made people believe that acetone can get absorbed by your skin and in the process can get mixed with your blood stream. Girls, acetone CAN NOT pass through the dermis level of your nail bed. Acetone gets evaporated a bit too fast to get absorbed into your nail plate. So, it’s safe.

Why should you choose acetone removers over non-acetone polish removers?

Markets today have very strategically created the image of non-acetone removers to be the better version of acetone removers. In reality this is not true. Acetone based nail polish removers are slightly safer than non acetone removers, which basically constitute methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate. Both of which are harmful for the healthy growth of nails. Surprised much?

Coming to the argument that acetone removers are drying, we could not contest it. But so are non- acetone removers, undoubtedly. In fact non-acetone removers are much more drying than acetone removers as they are not as effective as acetone removers when it comes to removing nail polishes.

Non-acetone removers were made to work basically with acrylic nails, as they used to get dissolved when tampered with acetone removers. Thus they are less effective than acetone removers, there by leaving us with no other choice than to let it be in contact with the nail and nearby skin for longer periods of time. This causes much more dryness than any ordinary acetone remover.

What to do in order to avoid dryness caused by acetone based removers?

The basic question is why do your nails feel dry after setting in contact with acetone removers? Remember when I told you that acetone was a good solvent and it dissolves all the polish very effectively. Similarly, acetone being a solvent also dissolves the natural oil and moisture from the skin surrounding your nail bed. Simple enough, eh?

Talking about the solution, it is a complete no brainer. Feed the skin with what the acetone could rip it off of. Oil! I mean if the acetone tends to strip off natural oils from your skin, slather some olive or almond oil on to the skin (not the nails, just the surrounding skin) which will be getting affected by oil.

By doing this one simple step, the acetone will be dissolving the oils applied externally, safeguarding most of your natural oils and moisture in the skin. Easy peasy!

Ok, so I am in a good mood today. Let me just throw in a bonus trick for you gorgeous girls to enjoy.

BONUS TRICK: Gel nails are beautiful and they are all the rage in the nail industry nowadays. But let us accept it, they can be expensive; and the additional expense to get them removed at the salon can be too overwhelming for some. Now, that we know that acetone is far better than non-acetone removers, let us try a simple trick here. Dab some oil on to the skin surrounding your nails. Taking a cotton swab completely doused in acetone nail polish remover place it onto the nail and cover the nail with a foil paper (the one sitting handy in your kitchen) and let it be for about 3-5 minutes. Do not unwrap the foil; just pull it straight off the tip along with the cotton.

The same trick can be used to remove chunky glitter polishes, but the acetone dipped cotton covered with foil should not be left on the fingernails for more than 3-5 minutes. It can damage your natural nail bed.

After all the heated debates and settled arguments, I have finally come to the conclusion that acetone removers are all the much better than non-acetone nail polish removers for your skin.

The only problem that acetone can cause is drying and to avoid the unquenchable-nail feeling, you can try the following acetone based DIY recipe for gorgeously nourished nails. Just take:

1. Ten parts acetone (any kind of pure acetone will do)

2. Two parts of water (normal or tap water)

3. 10-15 drops of any oil of your choice (I personally prefer using olive oil)

4. 5-8 drops of vitamin E (you can even use one or two vitamin E capsules for this purpose)

Just add these four simple ingredients into any old nail polish remover bottle and voila! You have a customized acetone based nail lacquer remover which will remove the most stubborn of nail polishes without ever drying your nails. I swear your friends will be jealous of your beautiful nails 🙂

Editor’s Note: That’s quite an interesting post Ishleen, also loved the last DIY recipe and would be trying that out. I have tried acetone free ones thinking they are all good, but the nail paint just won’t come off :/ I usually love using this oil based nail polish remover pads. This DIY thing sounds quite good and economical.

Have you tried non-acetone nail polish removers? Don’t you find them drying plus they do not take off the nail paint at all! Will you try this DIY recipe?

So as the brand claims suggests, Johara Cosmetics are made from the best of the ingredients and are all safe and natural adhering to their quality standards.

They have Skin Care, Body Care (i.e. Bathing Bar and Body Mist) and Colors which is all about makeup but no foundation or base makeup yet, I hope they launch those soon.

For now, I am reviewing the lipstick, eyeliner, kajal and nail color.

Johara® Crème Rich Lip Color

Johara® Crème Rich Lip Color glides on for show-stopping, saturated rich creamy color finish. Rare Ricin oil and Vitamin E act to hydrate and nourish your lips. Choose from 12 delectable shades and true-wearing color that dazzles at the workplace or party. Long-wearing, smooth and lustrous, our lipsticks make you want to get more than one shade!

More To Love: Parabens free, Lanoline free, Mineral Oil free, Nano-ingredient free

Shades Available: 12

MRP: Rs.395/- for 4.5g

I have the shade Pink Flash. To start with the packaging, it comes in this complete silver outer packaging with golden interior. I like the packaging, also the quantity of 4.5g is very good for a lipstick.

Pink Flash is a pretty coral pink color. The texture is creamy and the finish is glossy, you get opaque coverage in 2 swipes so the pigmentation is quite decent too. The staying power is average, it stays for 3-4 hours with light snacking and drinks but leaves behind a pretty stain which stays for another 1-2 hours. Only glitch is it fades from the center first when you eat or drink.

Overall, I like the color and the finish is pretty good for everyday use. But if you want matte or long staying lipstick, then this is not for you. At Rs.395, it is quite good for the quantity and quality.

Johara® Pro Shine Nail color

Dress up your nails in a stroke of Johara® Pro Shine Nail colors. The formulae are long lasting, quick-drying, and apply evenly, while high-quality pigments ensure eye-catching ultra-shine. The special design brush helps to achieve an even application of colors. Choose from 14 ProShine youthful shades to pep up your look every day.

Shades Available: 14

MRP: Rs.250/- for 10ml

I have the shade Ocean Green. I like that the bottle is not very huge for 10ml quantity. Pigmentation is good, you get perfect coverage in two coats.

Ocean Green is perfect sea green which looks kind of mint but is not exactly mint.

I do not agree with the quick drying and long lasting claim here. It took quite long to dry on nails and chipped from the front in 3 days.

The shades available are less and also the price is a little higher for a nail paint, not very happy with this.

Johara Deep Impact Kajal

Use Johara Deep Impact Kajal for mesmerizingly beautiful eyes. This creamy Kajal gives you deep coverage and effortlessly glides on in one easy stroke. Smudge-proof and easy to blend, it is also moisturizing and light-wearing. Let this super-creamy kajal be the secret behind your expressive eyes.

Free of volatiles, parabens and preservatives.

Lasts upto 10 hours

Easy to apply

Water-proof

Dermatologically approved

Ophthalmologically approved

Suitable for contact lens wearers

MRP: Rs.325/- for 0.35g

It comes in this sleek, black packaging and is in retractable form. The moment I swatched it, I was blown away by the creaminess and pigmentation. It glides like butter and is intense jet black! It is everything a kajal should be! No kajal/kohl stays long on me coz of my watery eyes. This one stayed for around 7-8 hours, though it has slightly faded but was still there.

I am super impressed with this kajal, best at this price point in the longest time I have tried. Highly recommend this!

Johara Expert Pen Eyeliner

Put an expert to line the windows to your soul. Johara Expert Pen Eyeliner has a unique pen formula that gives you oh-so-smooth and precise application, creating a highly pigmented, intense black line, that is quick-drying and non-feathering.

The innovative tip applicator provide ultimate control without skipping, so what you get is pure drama for your eyes.

Free of parabens and formaldehyde compounds

Lasts upto 12 hrs & more

Water-resistant

Quick drying

Dermatologically approved

Ophthalmologically approved

Suitable for contact lens wearers

MRP: Rs.575/- for 1ml

I love using pen eyeliners, coz they are super easy and convenient to use. This Johara Expert Pen Eyeliner looks exactly like a black pen. The tip is thick and stiff, it is easy to work around with. Again the pigmentation is mind blowing, super rich and dark black.

The tip being thick, you won’t get a thin line or a small, thin wing. But if you are someone who always prefer a thick eyeliner, then this is perfect for you and will make your life super easy.

I am mostly into thin, defined lines. I rarely go thick on the eyes, but when I do, I will only reach for this. With thinner tips, you have to go over again and again to create thickness. With this liner, one stroke and you will be sorted.

I definitely recommend this if you love thick eyeliner on your eyes. you will surely love this to bits.

I have used the Kajal, Eyeliner and the lipstick here..

You can buy the products from Johara Cosmetics website, I have linked above. It will route you through Sami Direct. They also have skincare and I am currently trying out their Night Cream which I will be reviewing soon.

Have you heard of Johara Cosmetics? What do you think of these products?

Ingredients:

Variants available:

Green Apple Mojito
Spring Fizz
Fresh Blooms
Aqua Bliss
Blossom Bouquet
Purple Paradise

MRP: Rs.149/- for 29ml

To start with the packaging, it is super cute and so tiny that it makes it perfect to carry in your bag. The tiny beads and colorful sanitizers look very pretty and you get them in different variants, so you can choose what you like.

I loved the Aqua Bliss and Spring Fizz, fruity ones smelled a little sweet for my liking. These are definitely expensive than other sanitizers for the quantity, but you can feel the difference in quality when you use it. Hands feel softer and not drier which usually happens with sanitizers coz of the alcohol content.

They also claim to kill 9x more germs than normal sanitizers, so of course they have some proof for that. If you obsessed with hand sanitizers and like pretty ones in different variants, you will love these. Definitely recommend!

About the Nail Polish Removers:

  • Features castor oil and glycerine and won’t dry out cuticles.
  • Removes nail polish gently and evaporates without leaving any white residue
  • Formula is filled with vitamins which helps your nails grow stronger.

Bloomsberry introduces exclusive range of nail care products with its unique features and quality catering to individual nail requirements and problems.

Ingredients:

Variants available:

Nourishing Nails (Ocean Fragrance) – For Dry Nails
Strengthening Nails (Green Apple Fragrance) – For Weak/Brittle Nails
Acetone Free (Lemon Fragrance)- For Natural/Acrylic Nails
Nail Revival (Fragrance Free) – For Yellow Nails

MRP: Rs.149/- for 50ml

They come in a square white plastic bottle with grey cap packaging. I am glad these do not come in glass bottles which are very risky. The bottles are quite compact and small even though the quantity in each is 50ml, making them travel friendly too.

I love the fact that there is a different variant for every kind of nail. When I had got gel nail extensions done, I used the Acetone free one. I would be switching to the Strengthening Nails one now since my nails have become very weak and brittle after the extensions.

Even though there is one specific variant for dry nails, none of these nail polish removers are drying. Having tried 3-4 different brands, I can say this is by far the least drying nail polish remover brand.

But I don’t use these liquid removers much now, as I prefer either the nail polish remover pads or the sponge bottles to dip your nails in.

I would be really glad if Bloomsberry comes with different variants of nail polish remover pads and those sponge bottles. But if you prefer using the nail polish removers and are looking for something non- drying and meant for your nail type, these are must try. Highly recommend them!

Bloomsberry products are available on Flipkart and Amazon in various combos and at lower prices as introductory offers. Check out more at www.bloomsberry.in

June ‘Take Charge’ Fab Bag Review

June ‘Take Charge’ Fab Bag Review

Hi guys,

A new month and new bags and boxes start pouring in. Also the most exciting part is the unboxing, isn’t it?!

This month’s Fab Bag theme is ‘Take Charge’. It’s a deep purple loose bag which can stock a lot of things, perfect to carry along your makeup or toiletries during travel. I loved the color and material..its quite soft but sturdy and not something that would tear easily.

MRP: Rs.599/- per month (Offers on 6 months and 12 months subscription. Go HERE)

Read my previous March Fab Bag Review HERE, April one HERE and May one HERE

Let’s see what all I received in this month’s Fab Bag..

  • Cuccio Colour Nail Enamel in Shaking My Morocco- Full size (Rs.675/- for 13ml)
  • Cuccio Naturale Butter Blend- Milk & Honey- 9.24g tube (Rs.2970/- for 240g)
  • Votre Fresh Cooling Sun Protection Mist SPF25 50ml bottle (Rs.980/- for 100ml)
  • Ananda Spa Light Moisturiser For Normal to Dry Skin, small jar (I guess 8-9g) (Rs.1350/- for 50g)
  • All Good Scents Arise (For Men) Perfume vial- Father’s Day Bonus

This time we have one full sized product i.e. the 13ml Cuccio nail enamel, I am happy with the bright coral colour which is perfect for summers. The Ananda Spa Light Moisturiser is rose and sandalwood based and smells nice, would love to try this out.

We have half the sized bottle of Votre Fresh Cooling Sun Protection Mist SPF25 which will be worth Rs. 490/- and the small tube of Cuccio Butter for hand, feet and body. Lastly, a small perfume vial bonus from All Good Scents for Father’s Day.

Overall, a nice bag considering value for money as the nail enamel and sun protection mist itself total to more than Rs.1000, but I have seen better Fab Bags in previous months. I feel next month’s bag would be amazing though, let’s wait and watch 😀

The formula is France based and it is indeed nice. 2 coats are all you need for a perfect, opaque coverage and it gives a super, smooth finish. Pigmentation wise its quite bright and the glossy finish and coverage is perfect.

It goes on smooth without any streaks and the best part is, it stays for a good 9-10 days with just a bit of chipping at the tips. Really impressed by the staying power and the color and finish does not get dull too. It has even survived 2 weeks with just a bit of chipping and the finish gets a bit dull later on. But no nail enamel has stayed that long on me!

It comes in 100 shades with all possible finishes and different textures. I am really keen on trying out the Glitters and Sugar Rush next.

I have tried the shades ‘No Morning Blues‘ and ‘Didya Vinka At Me’ untill now. All the 100 shades have such fun, quirky names 😀 No Morning Blues was a part of the February My Envy Box.

No Morning Blues is a creamy bright pastel blue

Didya Vinka At Me is a super creamy bright deep raspberry pink. Lot of people asked me about this shade :p

I absolutely love the finish and quality. Though its slightly higher priced, but the quantity of 12ml is good and also the quality is fab, maybe we can have a smaller size at a lesser price. I like that idea in nail enamels of having a lesser quantity so that we can use it completely and also have more colors.

Its available online on My Envy Box,Purplle and Nykaa. I hope it is more easily available soon both online and offline.

I highly recommend trying these, you can thank me later 🙂
