Scrub shampoo

MRP: Rs.1845/- for 240ml

Ingredients:

All Body Shop hair care products are silicone free. This whole range smells so fresh and citrusy, it’s very refreshing. The shampoo is clear and runny, it foams and cleanses well. The conditioner is thick to dispense from bottle, but it is not heavy or rich in texture. It does not weigh the hair down. If you have very dry hair, this conditioner won’t be moisturising enough for you. But for oily to normal hair, this conditioner is absolutely perfect.

The star of this range is the hair scrub, it’s a thick scrub with salt-like granules. The thick salt settles down, so you need to mix the scrub well before taking it. It is a scrub shampoo, so it even foams as you massage it on the scalp, the salt starts melting. The scrub is not very harsh or abrasive but it cleanses the scalp well and circulates the blood on the scalp. It also removes dirt, build up, etc., but it is a little drying. I would suggest using it once a week, not more than that.

I start with the scrub, then follow it up with the shampoo. Since the scalp is cleansed well with the scrub, the shampoo foams and cleans easily. Finally the conditioner towards the lower half of the hair.

Ingredients:

My favourite product of all these new launches, has to be this body scrub. It’s a clay based scrub with fine exfoliating granules. It is not at all harsh but still scrubs the skin well. This scrub is literally a spa in a jar! It is exactly like the body scrubs they use in spas. When you take the product on your fingers and start massaging it on the body, it feels slightly warm, I believe it heats up on massaging and in contact with the skin. Then it scrubs the dead skin cells really well without even feeling like a scrub. I assumed it would be a little drying since it’s clay based, but it has oils in it, so in turn it leaves the skin moisturized and my skin feels soft like a baby’s bum! Literally. My skin doesn’t crave a moisturizer after using this, even in these winters. I skipped it once, and it felt fine. This is the best body scrub I have used till now, hands down!

It is neither drying not overly rich/oily. It is nothing like those usual oil/sugar/coffee based scrubs! I highly recommend getting this.

Though I loved all the new launches this time, if I have to absolutely pick a few and recommend, I would go with the Grape Seed Body Scrub and the Fuji Green Tea Hair Scrub! I am sure you will love them!

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil, Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick Review

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil, Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick Review

Hi guys,

Guerlain has relaunched in India and I had attended their event last month.  They launched the Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil and the Kiss Kiss Matte Lipsticks. I have been trying them out since quite some time now and here are my thoughts.

About the Abeille Royale Range:  Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil offers the skin all the power of Guerlain-exclusive ingredients: Ouessant Black Bee Honey and exclusive Royal Jelly. This revolutionary formula combines the power of a serum, the richness of an oil and the freshness of a lotion. The skin appears instantly smoother, plumper and revitalized. Replenishing micro-drops of oil* are released at the very last minute, leaving the complexion looking radiant. The skin feels incredibly silky and baby-soft to the touch.

Abeille Royale: repair born of science and the bee.
In research going back ten years, Guerlain has scientifically proven the effectiveness of bee products in boosting the skin’s repair mechanisms. Abeille Royale offers an advanced solution to effectively combat the visible signs of ageing, namely wrinkles and loss of firmness.

Inspired by the latest discoveries in neuroscience, the new Abeille Royale Repairing Concentrate goes even further and, for the first time, targets the damage suffered by the skin’s nervous system with exposure to UV rays and other external aggressions. So the skin can repair itself more effectively and fully.

Directions for use: Shake the bottle.  Take 2-3 drops of the oil.  Apply morning and night to the face and neck before the cream, instead of, or before the serum. For greater effectiveness, use the special lifting application technique.

MRP: Rs.6025/- for 30ml

Ingredients:

It was so interesting to know about Island of Ouessant in France and how it is situated in a way that it is far off pollution and diseases and also the wind blows in a way that no polluted air comes on the island. It is a natural habitat for the black bees, one of it’s kind and a unique species. The honey from these black bees is of unraveled purity and that is used by Guerlain in it’s products. If you see the black bee sign on a Guerlain product, it contains this purest honey from those black bees. Guerlain works closely on maintaining and preserving the island and the bees.

The oil comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. It has royal jelly beads settled down and you need to shake the bottle before dispensing the product. The texture is almost like water, it doesn’t feel like an oil at all. It’s more like a watery serum but you can definitely feel the hydration once you use it.

I love how light weight it is, have been using this since the past 3 weeks now and I love how it makes my skin feel. I even got a small pimple in between but this dried and settled the pimple and inflammation. You don’t feel like you have anything on your skin, yet still get the moisture boost. It has slight tackiness and works great as a primer.

I am in love with this light weight watery oil, skin feels softer, smoother, plumped and nourished. Highly recommend this.

Coming to the Kiss Kiss Matte Lipstick.

Claims: Guerlain imagines KissKiss Matte, a hydrating and plumping matte lipstick, intense like a lipstick and comfortable like a balm! The subtle spice extract it contains gives the impression of voluminous lips while the precious oils and the hyaluronic acid smooth and hydrate them. KissKiss Matte offers 9 captivating shades for all special occasions. The iconic packaging is adorned with a golden matte veil.

Ingredients: 1. Imperceptible spice extract giving the illusion of voluminous lips.
2. Precious oils to nourish, smooth and hydrate the lips.
3. The new generation of hyaluronic acid brings volume and curve to the lips.

Directions: KissKiss Matte routine :
1. Apply Liplift primer before lipstick and slightly beyond the lip contour, then blend in with the fingertips.
2. Apply KissKiss Matte directly to the lips for a matte finish and hydrated lips all day long.

MRP: Rs.2775/-

Shades Available: 9

First of all, look at that gorgeous and luxurious packaging. It looks and feels like a bar of gold, it is quite heavy and feels fancy on touch.

A matte lip colour which is hydrating and comfortable, don’t we all need that? They have a mix of reds, nudes, orange and plums.

I have the shade Wild Plum with me. The pigmentation is amazing and it glides on really well. It doesn’t emphasize dry lines or bleed on the lips. It’s pretty easy to use and goes smooth. It does have a little bit of sheen on application but that wears off in a while. The colour settles to a matte one and stays for 4-5 hours without eating or drinking. With eating and drinking, about 2-3 hours but leaves a nice stain behind for few more hours.

Wild Plum is a gorgeous medium mauve plum. I love the colour, pigmentation, formula, packaging, everything about these lipsticks. My favourite out of the lot was Crazy Nude. Highly recommend these too, they are better in terms of quality than Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown and around similar price point.

Guerlain is available at Shoppers Stop, currently Juhu and Malad. But they are launching it online soon, mostly on Nykaa.

Have you tried Guerlain skincare or makeup? What do you think?

Top Natural Face Serums in India, Prices, Buy Online

By Nidhal

Given the amount of pollution, grime, grunge and contaminants our skin is subjected to on a quotidian basis, smearing a chemical-laden cream/lotion/moisturizer would exacerbate the fettle of our skin. That’s truism, duh! Even opting for a chemical-free cream/lotion/moisturiser 24*7 may not be the sanest of choices if one has oily/acne-prone skin.

Going minimalist by zeroing in on a facial serum which does away the need to spruce one’s face every now and then, seems a viable option, doesn’t it? On that note, given the torrent of facial serums inundating the markets today, you can steer clear of them and instead opt for the following chemical-free all-natural facial serums to satiate the needs of your skin!

1. Khandige Organics Kumkumadi Tailam – Operating from Electronic City of India aka Bengaluru, Khandige Organics has certificates in galore under its belt to boast off. Offering not just cosmetic products which presently span over hair oils (such as- Bhringamalkadi Tail, Doorvadi Oil, etc) and a kumkumadi face serum, you can unleash the conscious foodie in you while checking out their enticing range of edibles such as- Chawanprash, Ashvagandha Rasayana, Brahmi Rasayana, Amlaki Rasayna, so on and so forth.

The Kumkumadi Tailam from Khandige’s range is by far, the most budget-friendly oil in India given its efficacy. With a deep orange hue that works wonders for Indian skin shades, a month long use is bound to clear one’s complexion notably provided you don’t suffer from serious skin infections. A subtle aroma lulls you into a good night’s sleep while the awe-inspiring ingredients in it work their magic. Felicitous for use by all skin types, it is free from fillers, chemicals and preservatives of any kind. Formulated with pure saffron, this luxurious oil helps in smoothening out fine lines and fading spots/blemishes overtime. An indispensable beauty treatment to indulge in, one needs to give it a shot for sure!

PRICE- 375/- INR for 50ml (Buy HERE)

2. Tarika Night Oil Saffron- One may run out of reasons on why Tarika Ayurlabs is inimitable but all those reasons even when clubbed won’t do justice to how efficacious, ethereal and addictive their all-natural, chemical and toxin-free products are! Operating from the picture-perfect Pondicherry, years of experience, and hours of single-minded dedication as well as brainstorming on how to blend and what to blend go into the preparation of each of their product.

Coming to their facial serums which are offered in four variants at present namely- rose, lavender, saffron and jasmine, it is Tarika Night Oil Saffron that swept me off my feet. Thanks to the timely recommendations by the team that runs this toxin-free brand, I tweaked my skin care regimen and could see the results within a week! Isn’t it incredulous?

Healthy, luminous and clearer skin vis-à- vis what it was a week ago, I need to say this that I would kill for another bottle of this magical elixir! It is truly praiseworthy. That said, let me clear the air that my skin care regimen has been completely free from chemicals for years, so it is tacit that I would note results sooner vis-à- vis a person who loads chemicals on their face/neck.

All in all, the bottom line is that this brand has churned out yet another winner (something they have a habit of doing) and deserves hats to be doffed at it for treating us to quality- products. Kudos!

The aroma of their enticing products is based on pure essential oils.

Coming to their range, the one that caught my fancy was Inatur Herbals’ Kumkumadi Tailam. The 100% natural formulation sinks effortlessly into your skin (given that you massage it well which is a no-brainer), soothes dry patches and leaves your skin well-moisturised for long. It goes without saying that luminous skin can be eagerly anticipated by you once you devote your time and effort to this miraculous oil. Application every night for at least a fortnight will certainly leave your singing paeans in its honour. It is not at all greasy, travel friendly and comes with an easy to use dropper bottle. A unisex beauty oil available readily on Flipkart, Myntra, Nykaa, Purplle, Voonik, MSM, Firstcry, Paytm, Shopclues, Homeshop, Big Basket, etc. it wins my vote of approval.

PRICE- 800/- INR for 12ml (Buy HERE)

5. BLUE NECTAR- As much as their aesthetically-packed products may entice us, we cannot turn a blind eye to how efficacious their deftly and assiduously crafted products are! Offering luxurious hair oils, relaxing body massage oils and nourishing facial serums- all of which are based on Ayurvedic principles, Blue Nectar is here to sweep you off your feet.

Coming to the facial serum from their tempting range, the one that became the apple of my eyes instantaneously was Blue Nectar’s Kumkumadi Serum. For those who have a predilection for relying on our ancient recipes as far as skin care is concerned, Blue Nectar picks up the gauntlet to package and present an ancient Ayurvedic formulation in a contemporary way. Their kumkumadi serum sends you into an illusory world where your olfactory senses are well taken care of, rather I should say cast a spell over and your skin, pampered to the hilt. An inimitable blend of herbs and oils to keep one’s skin youthful and vibrant, it works effortlessly to minimise fine lines. With the mantra of ‘A little goes a long way’ being the cornerstone of their kumkumadi tailam/serum, do not repine for a single bottle needs to be used sparingly.

Soulflower Coldpressed Olive Oil Review, Benefits, How to Use

Soulflower Coldpressed Olive Oil Review, Benefits, How to Use

By Sanchita

INTRODUCTION – Olive oil is a multipurpose oil and a very important part of my skincare and haircare. I have been using this oil for quite a long time now and I am really surprised how beneficial it can be. The brand, Soulflower is a well-known one, for making different carrier and essential oils. I have tried various products from them and was really impressed with the quality.

So let’s get straight into the details.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Olive Carrier Oil – Coldpressed have ability to nourish, moisturize and improve skin elasticity, acts as a deep conditioner & a dandruff controller, giving hair shine & strength.

PRICE – Rs. 300 for 200ml (Buy HERE)

MY REVIEW

The Soulflower Coldpressed Olive Carrier Oil comes in a slender plastic bottle with a transparent body. It has a white opaque screw cap with a flip open lid and a small opening that dispenses the right amount oil and controls the flow as well. The packaging is really travel friendly and light weight. I always dreaded carrying oils while travelling but this one causes no spillage at all. It was easy and handy. The olive oil is golden yellow in color with a thicker consistency. It is slight sticky as well due to the consistency and few other addition of ingredients in it. There is no complain regarding the thicker consistency because cold pressed and chemical free olive oils are like that. There is a slight hint of olive aroma and nothing artificial at all. It isn’t a very pleasant smell but it won’t put you off.

Before moving on to the various uses, I would like to discuss the ingredients. This product is Cold pressed (which is purist method of producing oils to retain much more of their valuable nutrients) and hence the olives are pressed and grinded in low temperatures in order to retain its aroma, flavor and nutritional value. You would often use various ‘olive oils’ with a light consistency, non-greasy feel but those oil have mineral oil in them and such products are harmful for the skin. As a result, this product is hexane free. The brand claims to extract this product from the seeds of the Olea Europaea (Olive) plant, which is a great source of Vitamin E and also contains Vitamin K and D3.

HOW TO USE –

1. Makeup remover – Oil is the best makeup remover ever! Be it coconut, olive, castor or any other oil, it is going to remove every trace of waterproof and smudge proof makeup. My eyes are super sensitive and thus I avoid using any makeup remover wipe or chemical near it. I use this olive oil or sometimes make a concoction with castor or coconut oil and soak lightly in a damp cloth or cotton ball. I apply on the eyes for 30-40 secs and then swipe gently to remove the makeup. It comes off easily and effectively.

Also, the eye area feel soft and nourished. For face, you can simply massage the oil in circular motion and you would the makeup coming right off. Swipe off everything in a damp cotton and wash the face as usual.

2. Eyes – Eye area is naturally dry and the skin around it is very thin. It loses moisture easily and thus require extra nourishment. I dip a Q-tip in the oil and apply all over the eyelids and under eyes, along with the lashes and eyebrows. I massage the oil slightly and let it soak overnight. Therefore, whenever I wake up, the area feel nourished and hydrated all day long. This is helped me a lot and prevented the wrinkles around the eyes.

3. Skin – Olive is antiaging and contains various vitamins like Vitamin E, Vitamin K and D3. It helps to prevent fine lines, crow feet and wrinkles. Olive oil also nourishes and moisturizes the skin. if you have dry skin, simply apply the oil to the dry patches and you will wake up with renew and rejuvenated skin.

4. Body and Aromatherapy – Olive Carrier Oil has the ability to nourish, moisturize and improve skin elasticity. This is why it is an excellent product for body massage and aromatherapy. You can also mix with other essential oils and massage. Initially, it feels slightly sticky but given some time, it gets absorbed well. In fact, you won’t need a body lotion throughout the day. You can also use this for body scrub. Take 2-3tbsp. of crushed almonds, coffee and add olive oil with it. Massage it thoroughly before bath.

5. Nails and Hands – It serves as an excellent hand nourisher and nail cuticle oil. For dry hands, simply massage the oil for 5-6mins and wear a glove for 30mins. Once you open the glove, your hands will be as soft as a baby’s skin. For nails and the dry area around nails, apply olive oil and let it soak for an hour. You would never see dryness if you do this regularly.

6. Hair – My favorite part is to apply a concoction of 3 oils – olive, castor and coconut. This methods works like a charm for me and prevented split ends and dryness. I massage the oil on the scalp and length of the hair and keep it overnight. I wash off in the morning with a mild shampoo and conditioner and the hair feel soft and manageable. I even add the olive oil in my homemade hair masks as well for the extra nourishment.

7. Lips – Lips feel dry and chapped every day and simple lip balms are not good enough to keep them soft and supple. I mix olive, castor, shea butter and coffee grinds and scrub the lips once a day, before hitting the bed. It helps to remove the dry patches and keep the lips soft and pouty.

8. Shaving – Shaving with olive will save you time and money. You won’t have to apply any body lotion or oil post-shaving as the olive oil is enough to nourish and hydrate it. Thus, if you are in a hurry, simply apply the oil generously on the area to be shaved and use the razor.

WHAT I LIKED

1. Well packaged and travel friendly.

2. A golden yellow color with subtle notes of olive.

3. Thick consistency.

4. Hexane free.

5. Extracted from the seeds of the Olea Europaea (Olive) plant, which is a great source of Vitamin E and also contains Vitamin K and D3.

6. It has versatile uses.

7. Affordable.

8. Easily available.

WHAT I DISLIKED

1. None!

RATING – 5/5

OVERALL – Soulflower Coldpressed Olive Carrier Oil is one of the best and affordable oil that that versatile uses and an essential part of the skincare and haircare. It is authentic and has no side effects whatsoever. Moreover the oil will last you a long time. I would highly recommend this one.

Patanjali Coconut Oil Review & 6 Different Uses for Skin & Hair

Patanjali Coconut Oil Review & 6 Different Uses for Skin & Hair

By Sanchita

INTRODUCTION

There are some Patanjali products I swear by, like the Aloe Vera Gel, Divya Kantilep, Rose Water and this Coconut Oil. More than anything this has been a savior for me and I can’t stop praising it. I have been using this oil for the past one and half years and always keep two additional backups for this one. Here is my review on the same.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – It’s made of pure coconuts & helps in the improvement of hair growth. Patanjali coconut oil is a double filtered coconut oil which is without any preservatives. Hence, good for cooking purpose as well.

PRICE – Rs. 65 for 200ml (BUY HERE)

MY REVIEW

The oil has changed the packaging over the years. Initially there was this flip open bottle and then they suddenly shifted to the tub packaging which was extremely convenient. Last month, when I went out to purchase some, I saw that the bottle packaging is back and I couldn’t be more glad. It has a white opaque flattened bottle with a flip open cap. The mouth of the cap dispenses right amount and also helps you to control the flow as well. The bottle is much easier to carry around as well as storage. Overall, the packaging is sturdy and great.

The oil is transparent in it and leans on slightly thicker side. This is a pure coconut oil with no amount of dilution. If you see the ingredients, you would find that there is no mineral oil whatsoever and this is why the oil works best for every purpose. The smell of coconut is pretty much evident but there is no artificial touch to it. There are various ways I have been using the oil for a long time and I will elaborate how beneficial it has been.

Use 1: For the hair

Long ago I used a hair color and somehow it backfired on my scalp and I started having terrible hairfall. Someone suggested me this oil and I used to apply it overnight and wash off the next day. I did this twice a week for a month and my hairfall problem is gone. Surprisingly, the dandruff issue is also gone. The hair feels soft, nourished and healthy. Since I have extremely dry hair, sometimes I make a concoction of almond, castor, olive and coconut oil for the hair. I keep it overnight and wash off the next morning. There have been times, I also mix this coconut oil in the homemade hair masks for nourishment.

Use 2: For face

I have oily acne prone skin so I can’t exactly use it for moisturizer but I used for removing my makeup. I haven’t not used any commercial makeup remover and simply slather the oil on the face and massage for 2-3mins. Then taking a wet wipe, I wipe off and it removes every layer of makeup. For the eyes also, it removes every layer of water proof mascara and kajal and will not irritate the eyes at all. As I have oily skin, I wash off everything with a face wash.

Use 3: For hands and feet

In winters, the hands and feet get very dry and I massage the oil for 5-10mins and hit the bed. It nourishes my hands and feet overnight and I wake up with no dry layers. For other time, I simply wipe off the excess oil with a dry tissue.

Use 4: For body

The oil works like a charm to heal dry skin and stretch marks. I use this in winter for my body and it has removed my stretch marks. However, I must say that it takes a long time and patience. It took 9-10 months to remove the stretch marks on my thighs and hips.

Use 5: For eyes

I have hereditary dark circles and also dry under eyes. Most of the eye creams doesn’t suit me and I use little coconut oil on a cotton bud and apply around the eyes before sleeping. Thus, it never makes the eye dry and wrinkled.

Use 6: For nails

The nails are often under nourished due to the use of constant acetone based nail remover. I use the coconut oil as the cuticle oil and it never feels dry and under-nourished.

WHAT I LIKED

1. Opaque and sturdy packaging

2. Pure coconut oil

3. No mineral oil added

4. Has variety of uses for face, eyes, body, nails and hair

5. Reduces hairfall.

6. Hydrating

7. Easily available

8. Extremely affordable

WHAT I DISLIKED

Nothing

RATING – 5/5

OVERALL- Thus, the Patanjali Coconut Oil has various uses and the oil is truly a magic elixir for me. Most importantly, it is extremely affordable, easily available and in pure form. I would highly recommend this oil over any other hair oil for nourishment.

Editor’s Note: I will surely give this a try Sanchita, nice review

Fabindia Tea Tree Essential Oil Review

Fabindia Tea Tree Essential Oil Review

By Monika

Hello everyone!!

I was on the lookout for a good product to treat acne since a long time and that is when, I read about how tea tree oil works wonders for acne. My main concern, was deciding whether to buy the Fabindia one or The Body Shop one but, I came to the conclusion that I’ll buy the fabindia one given that, I’ll have to shell out only half the amount .So without further ado, I headed straight to the fabindia store and bought myself the tea tree oil which is supposedly to work wonders for acne as well dandruff the latter not being a major problem in my case.. To know more about my experience with the product read on.

Price and quantity: Rs. 350 for 10 ml

What the product claims: This oil helps combat dandruff and acne. Fumes help in easing nasal congestion

Ingredients: Tea tree essential oil.

My views on the product

The product comes in a dark blue colored glass bottle with a screw cap which, has a dropper inside that makes sure that, you use the product sparingly which is very important in case of essential oils. I wouldn’t carry the product around as; I would have the constant fear of breaking it. I apply a few drops of the oil with a Q tip at night only on my acne avoiding the eye area. The oil has an extremely strong fragrance and causes a stinging sensation as soon as applied which, I am ready to forsake if it actually worked for acne. But to my disdain it did not, and the next day I saw 2 new pimples on my face. The effect probably varies from person to person but for my skin it clearly did no good .I continued using this product for a few days only because I didn’t want to waste my money but, it did nothing about the acne or the scars.

This product has ensured that I wouldn’t buy any product with tea tree oil in it cause of the recurrent acne that I saw on my face with regular usage of the product.

Pros:

  • Lasts for a long time since you have to use only a few drops in a single application
  • Comes with a dropper
  • Comes with a screw cap which prevents leakage

Cons:

  • Doesn’t reduce acne or scars
  • Causes stinging sensation
  • Overpowering smell
  • Can cause dry patches on skin
  • Not travel friendly

Final word

I would not recommend this product to anyone since, it has proven to be a complete waste of every penny spent and would do nothing about the acne instead, it would cause more harm like dry patches on skin. So, if you are looking for a good tea tree oil then, this is definitely not the one.

Editor’s Note: Oo..I am surprised this didn’t work because I have heard a lot of good things about the Fabindia oils too. The Body Shop one is definitely amazing, I have tried that. I think you should try The Body Shop one.

Have you tried the Fabindia Tea Tree Oil? Did you have the same experience?

Touch Nature Lemongrass Essential Oil Review, Benefits, How to Use

Touch Nature Lemongrass Essential Oil Review, Benefits, How to Use

By Nidhal

They smell heavenly. They are perfect pick-me- up items to uplift your senses and lull you into a soothing slumber. Popularly used in aromatherapy sessions, essential oils, EO for short are highly concentrated, potent and therapeutic oils that need to be necessarily blended with a carrier/base oil for external use (and they are strictly not meant for internal uses). A base oil is simply any oil that mellows down the potency of the essential oil to the extent that its goodness isn’t reduced but it becomes conducive for use on skin.

The bottom line- Always, without fail, dilute essential oils in a base (or more than one) oil such as- virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO in short), virgin sesame oil and so on and so forth for use on skin/hair. Also, add only a few “DROPS’ and not teaspoons/tablespoons of the essential oil into the carrier/base oil. You stand the risk of scalding your skin if you add more than a few drops of essential oil to the base oil.

With these basic ideas in my, I zeroed in on TOUCH NATURE NEPAL LEMONGRASS ESSENTIAL OIL one fine afternoon as I was strolling the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal in 2014 🙂 The people are the epitome of courtesy , warmth and civility by the way. Coming back to the topic, let us begin with how the essential oil fared for me and how I used it for my skin and hair.

PRICE – 350 INR for 10ml (Buy similar from Soulflower HERE)

DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Dilute in a base/carrier oil of your choice, depending on your skin’s condition and use topically.

INGREDIENTS- Pure lemongrass essential oil

WHAT IT CLAIMS- Lemongrass (Cymbopogon) is a perennial plant in the Poaceae grass family and is native to the tropical and subtropical area of India, Cambodia, Indonesia, China, Guatemala, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. It flourishes where the soil is slightly sandy and the climate moist and war. Lemongrass essential oil has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, anti-oxidant, astringent and diuretic properties.

MY EXPERIENCE-

Packed in a minuscule glass jar with a plastic cap on top and a layer of plastic covering with already perforated holes inset, the packaging of the essential oil is simple, spillage-free and travel-friendly. Yes, the provision of the double layer packaging makes it easy to carry without the fear of leakage. However, I wish a dropper was furnished so that drawing out the oil would have been easier. So, that is my input.

The oil has a riveting aroma. It uplifts you truly! The oil does not have a greasy/oily/thick texture but is fairly runny (as I see). One is not supposed to put it on one’s skin without dilution hence, I never risked doing the same.

FOR MY SKIN – I blend 3-4 drops of this lemongrass essential oil into two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and then, massage it on my skin especially after a bath for that ensures better absorption 🙂 Result? My skin feels hydrated, smoothed out and softened throughout the day besides emanating a lovely aroma that keeps me fresh

FOR MY HAIR- I mix 2 drops of this lemongrass essential oil with 2 tablespoons of virgin sesame oil (which is slightly warm for I prefer hot oil massages). Never mix the oils and then heat the resulting mixture. Do not even heat virgin sesame oil too much else or it may emit flames of smoke, indicating that all its goodness is going in for a toss. Simply heat the virgin sesame oil for a minute or two on LOW FLAME and then after a minute or two, add 2 drops of lemongrass EO. Mix well and apply on your scalp.

Keep it overnight and then apply a mask (optional step) the next morning, shampoo and condition as usual. You will end with shiny, hydrated and softened hair which I did  Oh yes, as far as my experience goes, I find it suitable for use by all skin types except those with excessively dry skin. All hair types can go for it.

GOOD-

1. Riveting aroma. It sends one’s olfactory senses into a tizzy. In one word- Heavenly 

2. Well-packaged

3. Well-priced. Most essential oils are within this range so, one is not being overcharged.

4. Perfect for aromatherapy sessions.

5. Can be added to hair masks with a foul odour to camouflage the smell.

6. Can be added to face masks in order to elicit a soul-stirring aroma.

7. Imparts a glow. I have added a few drops of the same to extra virgin olive oil and used on my face and neck (which is dry)every night for two months. Hence, can vouch for it. Please note, I said “drops”.

BAD-

1. Very difficult to find. I have not been able to find it in India. It is obvious since it is made in Nepal but even if searched online, one is unable to find to find it.

By Pallavi

Hii Girlies,

For dry skinned girls like me you can’t leave without body oils in winters. And especially during the February and summer months when the winters gets reduced but the air turns dry. That is the time when i felt my skin feeling much more dryer. And that is when i realised that only body lotions are not going to soften my skin. i need something stronger. Let’s go for body oils. Now, can you imagine whole winter i didn’t used any body oils but when the winter was on the verge of ending i needed a body oil. And that is when i landed with Jac Olivol Body oil with Italian Olive oil.

Price : Rs. 54 for 100 ml.

My experience with Jac Olivol Body oil with Italian Olive oil

The packaging of this olive oil impressed me. With oils I always have a fear that they will spill out and damage my clothes and all. But this one comes in medium sized yellow bottle which has product details inscribed on it. The bottle has the cap at the top which when tightly secured ensures that the oil will not spill out.

Now coming to the texture of this oil it is really free flowing and light. It spreads easily on your skin and since it is light it does not feel sticky. You need a very little amount per usage. so, a single bottle can survive you easily for one winter. With regular usage you can see that the oil is taking care of your dry patches. Also, it brings a healthy glow to the skin.

Almendrop 100% Pure Almond Oil Review

ALMENDROP 100% PURE ALMOND OIL REVIEW

By Nidhal Sinha

Almond oil has benefits galore for your skin and crowning glory. Don’t believe? Enriched with Vitamins A, E and B, almond oil is food for your skin. Not only does it quench your skin’s thirst for moisturisation but also halt the signs of aging. Sounds good? Wait, there’s good news for your mane too. Almond oil is a great emollient and also cleanses skin and removes dead cells. This quality helps fight dandruff and keep the scalp clean. It is light in texture and that makes it a great substitute for shine enhancers or leave-in conditioners. Almond oil has amazing moisturizing properties due to the essential fatty acids and the vitamin E it contains. Lusciously gorgeous mane, did I hear you say that?

Oh, wait, the benefits don’t end here. There’s good news for your lips too. How? Almond oil comes to your rescue when you want those soft, pink lips to die for. Almond oil’s rich vitamin content and the fact that is a great moisturizer works wonders in softening lips and imparting a winsome natural pink colour. Since it is storehouse of beauty hacks, why not grab a bottle of almond oil and put a full stop to all our beauty woes? Sure, but markets are inundated with hordes of almond oil brands. Which one should be relied upon? Well, the answer is subjective but today, I will bring a brand of almond oil to your notice that will hopefully leave you with the answer to the above poser.

So, let’s begin with the review of ALMENDROP 100% PURE ALMOND OIL on that note.

PRICE- Rs 225/- for 175 ml (BUY HERE)

DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Apply on skin, hair or lips by massaging it gently.

INGREDIENTS- Refined almond oil (edible grade)

WHAT IT CLAIMS- Beneficial for hair, skin and health.

MY EXPERIENCE-

Packed in a simply but sturdy plastic bottle with cap on top and a layer of plastic covering shielding the oil from contamination inset, the packaging of ALMENDROP 100% PURE ALMOND OIL is leakage-free and hygienic. That said, I doubt if it is travel-friendly or not. The cap, I think may loosen its grip with use. Therefore, there is room for improvement in the packaging to make it travel-friendly. Just the cap needs to be revamped. All else is fine.

The oil isn’t lightweight but it isn’t as heavy as coconut oil is. If applied on one’s skin and hair, one will get a feeling that something is applied. But again it won’t be so heavy that you will feel uneasy in keeping it for long duration. The oil has no fragrance which is a plus point for me. I detest artificial fragrances.

When used on skin overnight (of course, I won’t recommend oily-skinned ladies to do so), you wake up with a dewy and moisturised skin. The key is to be regular. Miracles don’t happen overnight unless it is a Bollywood movie 😛 As far as its use on lips is concerned, a better idea would be to add ghee to it since the oil gets soaked immediately when slathered on lips. Finally when it comes to one’s crowning glory, if used as a hot oil treatment overtime (around 2 months), you’ll get shiny and softened locks. This depends of your hair’s condition and frequency of usage too so, do not picture shiny tresses instantaneously on reading my experience

All in all, it a good investment. The results aren’t noted within a week or two of use. Be patient and persistent. It’s a natural treatment but the results will spellbind you for sure.

GOOD-
Economical price
Hydrated lips if not deeply then in combination with other natural ingredients such as-ghee.
Imparts shine to your crowning glory. Again, the results won’t be seen immediately. Religious use overtime throws such results.
Moisturises skin well.
Sturdy bottle.
Pure. It is an edible grade oil which validates its purity.
No artificial aroma

BAD-
Limited availability. I found it a supermarket in New Delhi. It is an imported oil so, it may take time to reach the remotest corners of India.
Cap’s packaging needs to be modified to make it travel-friendly

RATING- 4.5/5

Editor’s Note: I just saw this on Amazon and it looks pretty good. I always recommend Hamdard Rogan Badam Shirin but this is cheaper and seems like a nice option.

Have you tried Almendrop Almond Oil yet? Heard of it?
