You all must be knowing by now about this new makeup app launched by Lakme during the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015.

Its called the ‘Lakme Makeup Pro’ and it lets you try all the products by Lakme in real time using your phone’s camera! Yes, be it skincare,makeup,everything.

Also, you can match foundation,powder and concealer shades, or try on a particular eyeshadow or lipstick on yourself or on a model.

You can use you phone’s front or back camera or select a picture from your facebook or image gallery. Don’t wish to experiment on yourself? Do it on a friend or pre-fed model’s images.

Steps:

1. Experience real-time feed with your front camera. Just turn on the app and it automatically detects your face. You can also try out the app on your friends by taking their pictures with the back camera

3. Once you have found or created the perfect look, save it to your gallery and share with your friends on your social platforms.

Coming back to my review, I tried the app on myself of course :p

Here I have tried the foundation and the concealer, the concealer looks a little yellow. So, the brightness of the pic, the phone,the camera are certain factors that we will need to keep in mind and that varies a lot on different images.

My phone is usually the brightest, so I had to tone down the intensity of colored makeup products. Also, the way you set your eyes and lips will not be 100% accurate, so do not be frightened if you look like a clown in between 😀 Just re-adjust the eyes and lips to as close as you can, and tone down the intensity of the blush,eyeshadows and lipsticks.

I tried the peach blush, eyeshadow and lipstick here..

You can try and check the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ which will come up half and half on your face,save it, share it. Check the list of products used and either take a note of shades or buy directly on the app.

There are a lot of new ‘Pro Stylist’ Looks and many of Shraddha Kapoor’s new looks from ABCD and a few of Kareena Kapoor’ s looks from new collection launches at LFW, so if you want need a particular shade which Kareena or Shraddha wore, just check the makeup breakdown, maybe try the particular shade on yourself and click ‘Buy’ and get it delivered at your home! Life was never that simple, right? 😀

I think this app is a must try, atleast you can experiment a lot of different looks and shades on yourself and check what shades look good on you.

They have a flat rate shipping of $3.95 within US,$5.95 for Canada and $9.95 for anywhere else in the world. They use normal post and I received the package in 22-23 days. Also, they were no customs charges and I don’t think customs would be levied on them, since they are quite cheap with every product just $1 untill you are ordering something worth $100 or more.

If you have read the review before, you know how I absolutely love LYN Nail Lacquers. Super creamy and smooth,easy to apply,gorgeous shades and finishes,goes streak-free, completely opaque in two coats and stays for more than 10 days without chipping! Phew 😀 I think these are going to be my favourite forever.

I am reviewing the shade ‘Beach You To It’ today which is a gorgeous taupe brown. It is the most unique shade in my stash and the prettiest I have seen. This shade will work with whatever you are wearing and wherever you are, from office to parties to anywhere.

The box is a huge one, they generally have 4 to 6 products every month in the big box along with a recipe and product information card. This month it has a granola bar recipe which can be made with all the items in the box.

It was well bubble wrapped and all the individual items in it were also well packed.

I was really keen on trying the The Green Snack Co. Kale Chips, they are not baked, not fried and this one is Cheese and Onion Flavour. There are 2 other flavours it is available: Thai Sweet Chilli and Sea Salt and Vinegar, would love to try those too. In Cheese and Onion, the onion taste overpowers the Cheese.

Dried Goji Berries make a nice snack, something to munch on, in between and also a good addition to granola bars or parfait or the likes. Black Chia seeds are very, very healthy and perfect to top on so many dishes. You get all your iron and calcium content here.

If you are on diet or have a diabetes issue, you can try out the i2cook Organic Coconut Sugar which is natural, healthy and unprocessed. It can be added to any dish for that hint of sweetness plus a coconut tinge.

I love the fact that we have something like The Gourmet Box in India where all the natural, exotic stuff is available at the click of your finger and you get it delivered at the comfort of your home. We always had this issue, of not able to find half the ingredients we need in a dish in India easily. Well, now we can! Just looking at the exotic list of items they stock, makes me want to buy the whole site.

Coming to the box, the total cost of these 4 items included in the box is Rs.1115/- whereas the cost at which the box is sold is Rs.1500/- They also have a ‘make your own gourmet box’ option where in you can include the products you want in the box, and the box itself costs Rs.300/- This is something which I found a little costly. I did not get why the cost of the box should be so high and included in the total cost. This box would have done amazingly well if priced at Rs.999/- or even Rs.1099/-, coz I can always go and order these 4 items individually, right? Why would I even need the box which costs Rs.300/-, of course if you want to gift it to someone, then its fine.

Other than that, I think the concept is nice, and I am going to shop a few items soon from the site, but individually, of course. Overall, I would say, I loved the website and the items they stock. I loved the box as such, but not very happy with the pricing. I hope they lower the price, and there would many more subscribers. The quarterly and 6 month subscriptions are at a discount though, but still nothing covers the huge premium of the box.

New Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks Review,Swatches

What the Company claims: Elle 18 has made things simpler this summer for all the girls out there with their new range of Color boost lipsticks. It comes in 10 lovely shades including Pinks, Reds and Oranges. These lipsticks are enriched with a special cocoa-butter formula that keeps your lips soft and your colour intact for upto 6 hours. Well, nothing arrests the beholder’s attention more than a glamourous pout.

I am reviewing 7 of them today. Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks come in a pretty black and pink girlie packaging, like it always has been. Check out the previous range HERE

The lipsticks have an orange center which is their lip balm at the core, that keeps the lipstick moisturising. I like how hydrating and light they feel on the lips. Surprisingly, they are very,very pigmented. I just couldn’t get rid of the swatches from the hand even after washing thrice with a cleanser and had to use a good makeup remover to finally remove them.

Of course. they don’t stay for 6 hours as claimed, but the staying power is better than the previous Color Pop Lipsticks.The lighter shades stay for around 2.5-3 hours and the darker ones stay for around 3.5-4 hours, without and eating that is.

They are not transfer proof, but even after they wear off, the brighter shades leave a nice tint behind.

Talking of the packaging, it is very,very flimsy. One lipstick which I loved the most, Miss Pink  was already broken from the bullet before I received them. So, these are not very travel friendly too and should be carried along with care.

But as you guys know, the brand Elle 18 is all about affordability. These babies are very economical at 150 bucks and all the 10 new shades are super pretty and bright. Perfect for summers. Highly recommend getting 1-2 of these!

My favourite shades are Superlicious Red, Red Passion and Miss Pink, followed by Blonde Pink.

This review is long pending. Essence Cosmetics is a German brand and slowly it expanded and reached the other parts of Europe and US. Now finally, we have Essence Cosmetics in India!

I am reviewing the Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow in 19 Sparkling Orchids and the Essence XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss in 07 Silky Red

What the Company claims: essence XXXL longlasting Lipgloss matt effect- the velvety-matt, long-lasting lip gloss.

matt = a must! if you love this lip trend, the velvety-matt, long-lasting lipglosses are ideal for you! the light, mousse-like texture lasts on your lips for several hours without drying them out. particularly easy to apply thanks to the flat applicator.

MRP: Rs.279/- for 4.5ml

Shades Available: Velvet Rose, Soft Nude, Silky Red, Love Pink, Coral Delight, Big Night Out, Very Berry, Baby Doll’s Favourite

essence Metal Glam eye-shadows, with a soft texture, glide smoothly onto your eyes, giving extremely high coverage and a splendid metallic effect, resulting in a stunning outcome with a single sweep of the brush. Pocket-friendly, in both connotations of the word, these eye-shadows are available for just Rs. 185 and come in cute pocket sizes that fit easily in bags and purses, guaranteeing that you never have a make-up emergency!

MRP: Rs.185/- for 2.7g

Starting with the eyeshadow, it comes in a round plastic see-through packaging. Easy to locate if you have more colors. The quantity of 2.7g is quite huge.

The eyeshadow has a glitter overspray, so as and when you swatch it once, it looks completely different. Also, the product seems quite hard on top, but it feels a bit creamy inside, once the overspray is gone. When you try and use this eyeshadow with brushes or fingers, you will only get a hint of lilac with lots of silver shimmer.

The only way you can use this eyeshadow is wet. It is just not possible to use this dry, as you will not get any color, so for dry use, its a fail and would not recommend it. If you don’t mind using it wet, go ahead with the Metal Glam eyeshadows. Pretty affordable, lots of shades to choose from.

Coming to the XXXL Long Lasting Lip Gloss, it is more like a matte lip cream. It comes in a gloss tube and a flat tip applicator.

I love how creamy and moisturising it is, and once settled, it gives a matte finish, not completely dry matte though. It is very comfortable and light on the lips and stays for 3-4 hours without eating or drinking. It does not transfer much once settled, and can be easily reapplied.

T- Eyeshadow, B- Lipgloss

Here is it on me..

I love the shade Silky Red, a very wearable true red with very minute and fine golden shimmer, which is hardly visible. And also it instantly brightens the face. At 279 bucks, these are quite good and I totally recommend them. I don’t mind getting more colors, I think I would be trying out the Velvet Rose, Love Pink and Very Berry.

Food Review: Fuhgeddaboudit at Botticino,Trident BKC

We went to Botticino at Trident, BKC yesterday for lunch. They have this Fuhgeddaboudit festival going in which is all about light ‘on the go’ Italian power lunch from 16th to 19th May.

About the fest: Fuhgeddaboudit! Italian gangsters, or ‘wiseguys’, love to eat. With one eye on the pasta and another on the clock, they’re always on the lookout for a great meal. So you might just bump into one at Botticino, where we’re serving some unforgettable Italian power lunches. Whether you’re a Godfather, or one of the Goodfellas, or just another wiseguy, you won’t be able to “fuhgeddaboutdit”!

Manager at Botticino, Alisha Rampal and the Chief Chef, Sushil Multani explained us a bit about the fuhgeddaboudit festival and what it involves. How it is supposed to be light and quick and inspired from the Italian mafias.

These are the items included in the Italian fest.

Coming to the food, we were served fresh bread with a dip, at the start. It was quite fresh and some of them were really nice.

I went with the Chandon Brut Rose and hubby went with his favourite Sula Satori.

For the appetisers, we were served Compressed watermelon and goat cheese salad with citrus fruits, roasted pine nuts and lemon vinaigrette. Chef told us how the watermelon is compressed with kaffir lime leaves and the blend with citrus fruits, feta and roasted pine nuts was delish.

And the Tomato and Bocconcini with fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes.

For main course, we were served Eggplant Parmigiana and Spinach Ricotta Crepes with roasted tomato sauce. The crepes were nice. I did like the blend of flavours in the Parmigiana but I am not a fan of eggplant, so couldn’t have much.

Since the food was taking time, we were served orange sorbet in between which was quite refreshing.

And lastly, the Penne Arabiatta pasta with garlic, chilli flakes and tomatoes. Ok, so I like my pasta with an extra dash of olive oil and lots of parmesan. While this was supposed to be light and had no cheese, I missed my Parmesan. I wish I could have added the Parmesan additionally on top.

For the desserts, we had Panacotta with seasonal fruits and raspberry coulis topped with cinnamon honey and hubby went with Mango Cassata.

The panacotta was light and absolutely yummy with the fruits and a tinge of cinnamon honey in between every bite.

I was not very pleased with the waiting time though. For every dish, we had to wait for 20-25 minutes,and I thought according to the theme of the fest, it was supposed to be quick and ‘on the go’. Though I appreciate the chef cooked stuff fresh for us, but we were getting late, I hope that is not the case always.

Nonetheless, the food was nice and I had a great time. If you love Italian food, make sure you go for the fuhgeddaboudit festival at Trident, BKC. Tom is the last day!

I had received this combo of shampoo and masque in December, then there was this whole wedding and honeymoon thing. We went to Hong Kong, Macau and Andamans, basically 2 totally different places with dramatically different climatic conditions and water. By the end of my honeymoon, my hair felt like straw! And it is very rare that my hair feel so :/ So, you can feel the situation.

Cut to Dec end, when I came back, I saw this combo waiting for me at my place. I was like, let’s give it a try. Since this is meant for dry, damaged hair, maybe it can work the magic on my hair.

I tried it once AND kaboom!! My hair was back to normal, super soft and bouncy. I was surprised. Maybe it was both the water here in Mumbai and the shampoo that brought my hair back to life. But then, I cannot take away all the credit from these beauties.

The shampoo comes in a trademark L’Oreal Professionnel Expert Series shape bottle and both shampoo and masque are bronw in color. Actually, L’Oreal Professionel has different ranges, so usually salon people also distinguish on the basis of color. When they ask me which shampoo do I use, and I say Absolut Repair Lipidium, they say aahh the brown bottle, so I was like ya.

Masque comes in a long jar. Shampoo is runny and the masque is like quite thick, more thicker than a conditioner. It is very rich and creamy. Both the shampoo and masque are light yellow in color.

Shampoo foams well and cleanses amazingly well in just one wash. Both smell awesome! I take a fat dollop of the masque and use it as a conditioner.

I am a fan of this combo and have been using it since quite a long time now. In between, I had tried Head & Shoulders when I was facing some dandruff issues, but I made sure I used the masque though.

Though its priced a little high, but it lasts a very long time. Also the availability is an issue, since it is salon exclusive or available online on some sites.

I love this range. If you have normal to dry hair, you should definitely give this a try. Highly recommended!

I love their simple black packaging. The colours are bright and pigmented. The lipsticks are buttery soft, especially Petal Pusher. It actually broke the time I tried swatching it :/ Maybe coz of the summer heat and travel it went through 😀

It goes on smooth and it doesn’t feel heavy at all. It does not accentuate the lines on the lips and keeps the lips moisturized and hydrated too.

Petal Pusher is a nice,soft rosy pink. Though its cool-toned, its not like Barbie pink and does not wash me out. I quite like this shade, I wish it did not break 🙁

Red! 101 is their signature red. A true red that would work for all skin tones. Its bright and bold, but not in your face or look I am wearing red.

Both the lipsticks are quite pigmented. Red stays on for a good 5-6 hours while the Petal Pusher stays on for 3-4 hours since it is very creamy.

 

Here is it on me..

Only downside would be the price and the availability. But if you are someone who can’t deal with lipsticks or the lips get very dry, this vegan,gluten free, safe and all natural lipsticks are made for you. Purest form of lipsticks with no chemicals at all.
