Top 6 Baby Wipes in India

Top 6 Baby Wipes in India

Hi guys,

Baby skincare products are of utmost importance as babies have very soft and delicate skin and we have to make sure we use the best ingredients on them so that there is no irritation to their skin.

#Babywipes are something that is most used when it comes to baby skincare. They are a must-have in the diaper bag as diaper needs changing every 3-4 hours. Since baby wipes are used very frequently to clean, we must make sure to use the ones that are meant for sensitive skin, clean well, and do not irritate the baby’s bottom.

Let us talk about the best baby wipes in India currently.

  1. Mother Sparsh 99% Pure Water Baby Wipes (Unscented)

#MotherSparsh Baby Wipes are on the top in the baby wipes category, they tick mark all the boxes. They have no added scent i.e. are fragrance-free and are 3 times thicker with prolonged moisture. They are made especially for normal to sensitive skin using medical-grade fabric which is 100% biodegradable. Their wipes clean the skin properly and also soothe any irritation or rashes. They are very soft on the skin, yet every wipe is thick and durable, dermatologically tested & clinically examined for infections and rashes. Mother Sparsh Wipes are as good as cotton and water and are priced at Rs.299/- for a pack of 72 wipes.

They are also travel-friendly and suitable for use on the face, hands, and body.

I have personally also used these to remove my makeup and they work well. They are very handy for my everyday use and I have been using them for 9-10 days now. Also, help with cleaning makeup mistakes or brushes while using them during makeup and for lipstick swatches. They sit on my everyday vanity table as I keep reaching for them now and then.

2. Himalaya Gentle Baby Wipes

Himalaya Baby Wipes are free of alcohol, parabens, silicones, lanolin. They have lotus and aloe vera extracts and act as a natural moisturizer, priced at Rs.175/- for a pack of 72 wipes.

3. MamyPoko Anti Bacterial Wipes

MamyPoko is a very popular Japanese brand and they make budget baby care products. They are alcohol-free and are good for daily use but they do have fragrances. Priced at Rs.99/- for 50 wipes.

4. Johnson’s Baby Wipes

Johnson’s is the oldest and the most trusted brand in India for baby products. Their wipes are made of advanced fiber technology and contain a moisturizing lotion that is gentle on the skin. They are soap-free and alcohol-free, priced at Rs.220/- for 80 wipes.

5. Mee Mee Baby Wipes

Mee Mee is also a popular baby care brand, Mee Mee wipes are dermatologically tested and are made of spun lace, non-woven fabric. They also have aloe vera extracts that keep the skin cool and hydrated. Priced at Rs.99/- for 72 wipes.

6. Baby Dove Rich Moisture Baby Wipes

Dove has recently launched ‘Baby Dove’ in India, their wipes are dermatologically and periodically tested, hypoallergenic and alcohol-free formula. They are created with no parabens, no dyes, and no phthalates. They have glycerin which moisturizes and soothes the skin. Priced at Rs.135/- for 50 wipes.

These were the Top 6 Baby wipes in India, all are gentle and safe for the baby’s sensitive skin. I would prefer and recommend the biodegradable ones though, as we use a lot of wipes and the non-biodegradable ones stay in the environment forever and even cause blockages while the biodegradable ones would degrade in about 42 days. Also, fragrance-free as fragrance can irritate a baby’s delicate skin, hence my pick would be the Mother Sparsh 99% Pure Water Unscented Baby Wipes.

Have you tried Mother Sparsh 99% Pure Water Baby Wipes before?

Dermafique Bio Cellulose Face Masque Review

Dermafique Bio Cellulose Face Masque Review

Hi guys,

Don’t we all love a good pampering session every now and then? I love masking, especially on weekends while the weather is changing outdoors.  Currently I am loving this new launch by Dermafique, which is their range of Bio Cellulose Face Masques. Why, you ask? Because it’s a perfect burst of hydration for the dry and dehydrated skin when the weather is changing and the skin definitely needs that added moisture burst.

Why is the Dermafique Bio Cellulose Masque better than the regular Tissue based sheet masks?

The Dermafique Bio Cellulose Masque delivers superior hydration and efficacy, as compared to other masks. The range is made of biodegradable Bio Cellulose fibers, and are Made of 100% Natural Coconut Water. Bio Cellulose fibers have great absorbency and penetration. They don’t dry out on the skin. Ordinary tissue masks don’t adhere very well on the face and tend to fall off or slip and even tear off at places when trying to adjust. Bio Cellulose Masks are thicker comparatively, never tear off, and adhere to the skin perfectly and do not fall off or slide!

Dermafique Bio Cellulose Masques are derived from 100% Natural Coconut Water, they use patented technology and are dermatologically tested on Indian Skin as well!

Dermafique has launched 3 Bio Cellulose Face Masques,

  • Charcoal – For Anti Pollution
  • Pore Tightening –  For tightening pores and providing hydration
  • Tone Perfecting – To reduce uneven skin tone

The Dermafique Bio Cellulose Charcoal Face Masque offers deep pore cleansing which helps unclog pores and removes dead skin, leaving it cleaner, brighter and healthier. Charcoal sucks out the toxins and pollutants from the skin and the hydrating ingredients like glycerin, honey, green tea, etc. give that added moisture boost to the skin.

The Dermafique Bio Cellulose Pore Tightening Masque tightens skin pores and provides deep hydration to the skin. It detoxifies and purifies skin, making it look smoother, softer and firmer. The second ingredient here is Niacinamide which helps in reducing the appearance of pores, controlling the sebum/oil production and calming irritated/inflammed skin.

The Dermafique Bio Cellulose Tone Perfecting Masque leaves skin appearing more even toned. It improves skin complexion by reducing the appearance of blemishes and dark spots, making it look more youthful and radiant. The second ingredient here again is Niacinamide, and additionally it has Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Chamomile and Grapefruit extracts as primary ingredients that help nourish and hydrate the skin and add that needed moisture back to the skin making it soft and plump.

They are priced at Rs.299/- each and are meant for all skin types.

How to use:

Open the pack and unfold the masque, discard the non-woven film and place the mask on the face, remove the white plastic film and adjust the mask. Keep it for 30 minutes and then take off, gently massage/pat your skin or wash with water, if required.

My experience:

Dermafique Bio Cellulose Masque is definitely one of the best masks I have used. It fit the contours of my face perfectly and did not slide off even once. There was absolutely no issue in using it, no messiness or serum dripping everywhere as the masque holds the serum well.

I used the Tone Perfecting Masque and my skin felt soft, plump and hydrated immediately. Also there was no stickiness after removing the mask and the serum got absorbed into the skin. The masque was cooling and refreshing, and for summers if you store it in a refrigerator, it will be all the more refreshing. It’s perfect for a chilled weekend at home, where you do nothing and still get a facial like glow in 30 minutes.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the Tone Perfecting Masque and how my skin looked after. I would highly recommend the Dermafique Bio Cellulose Face Masques. You can buy them HERE

Minimalist Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C and Niacinamide Serums Review

Minimalist Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C and Niacinamide Serums Review

Hi guys,

I am sure you have heard of Minimalist by now, and how it’s an Indian version of the famous ‘The Ordinary’. I picked 3 serums from Minimalist and have been using them since the past 2 months.

The packaging and the products do remind you of The Ordinary for sure, they were planning to change the packaging and I hope they do that soon.

I know there are diverse opinions on this, but honestly how many people have credit cards or shop internationally. Even though I used to shop a lot internationally, the customs duty + shipping has made it hard in the past 2-3 years. So if I get similar products here in India which work equally well and are priced similarly, why would I not buy from here! But do they work as well as The Ordinary products? Read on to find out..

First of all, I love the fact that they teach their consumers so much about ingredients and how they work and the science behind it. They have a separate ‘Knowledge’ section on the website which is like a blog and has some amazing, detailed articles about different skincare ingredients with backed up research.

All Minimalist products are fragrance, paraben, silicone, sulphate, dye, essential oil free and are non comedogenic which means they will not clog your pores.

Packaging wise, all the serums come in a glass bottle with a dropper.

Let’s start with the Vitamin C serum..

Ingredients: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Ethoxydiglycol, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Glycerin, Sodium Gluconate, Acetyl Glucosamine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pullulan, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lecithin, Lactic Acid

Buy HERE or HERE

Their Formula has Ethyl Ascorbic Acid 10% + Acetyl Glucosamine 1%. Now Vitamin C is one of the most powerful anti-oxidants in skincare, anti-oxidants basically mean they negate oxidation i.e. they fight the free radicals and damage caused by oxidation through the environmental factors like stress/pollution/sun damage, etc. Just as consuming Vitamin C helps you fight viruses by boosting your immunity and strength to fit, the same way when applied on skin it fights the damage being done to the skin through environmental, external factors.

It also helps in brightening and evening out the skin tone, helps fade dark spots over time and also helps in boosting collagen, so with regular long time use helps prevent/delay fine lines and wrinkles.

Consuming citrus fruits, such as oranges, lime, and peppers, strawberries, blackcurrants, broccoli, brussels sprouts, etc. is amazing for both your body and skin as they have a lot of Vitamin C in them.

When combined with topical application on skin along with consuming a good diet, it is all the more beneficial for the skin.

But Vitamin C is extremely sensitive to light and air, so every time you open a bottle of Vitamin C, you are reducing a little bit of anti oxidants as you are allowing the process of oxidation. Hence, Vitamin C bottles are always dark and tinted, and I store them in a refrigerator and would recommend you do the same.

I love the fact that are also using a dark, tinted bottle. One bottle will last you 2-3 months depending on the usage, whether once a day or twice a day. I use it only in the mornings and it will last me one more month. Once opened, it is best to use up your Vitamin C within 2-3 months as it oxidizes.

Minimalist uses Vitamin C derivative “Ethyl Ascorbic Acid” that has 86% pure Vitamin C content. That is much higher than 40-50% content present in other Vitamin C derivatives. At a pH ~ 4.0 it is highly stable and effective. Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is the most stable form of Vitamin C currently and is both oil and water soluble. They have also added 1% Acetyl Glucosamine (AG), an amino acid sugar and a precursor of hyaluronic acid, that provides skin moisturization, boosts natural Hyaluronic Acid formation on the skin, and is a Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). A recent study has also shown visible improvement in fine lines around eyes with 2% AG.

I am absolutely in love with the ingredients and formula, they source their base ingredients from leading global suppliers who supply to most of these famous skincare brands globally.

They have used Centella Asiatice Leaf water as the base instead of just water, which is Gotu Kola and it very calming and soothing on the skin.

The formula is runny and watery, it is slightly tacky but absorbs quickly. I follow it up with my moisturizer and sunscreen during day time.

When used in the morning followed by a sunscreen, it increases the damage protection from sun exposure as it fights free radicals and oxidants.

I have been using both Vitamin C and Alpha Arbutin since 2 months and I can definitely see a change in my skin tone and a few post acne marks. A recent breakout in December post my travel, has already faded because of regular use of these two, otherwise my post acne marks take about 3-5 months to fade.

I love using Vitamin C serums but many of them oxidize before I can finish the bottle and that breaks my heart. I have been using this every morning since 2 months and I store it in the refrigerator and it hasn’t oxidized and I will finish it in another month. Definitely repurchasing this, at a price of Rs.695/-, if one bottle lasts 3 months, it is definitely worth it! Highly recommend this!

Let’s talk about the Alpha Arbutin 2% + Hyaluronic Acid 1%

Ingredients: Aloe Vera Juice, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Alpha Arbutin, Propanediol, Ethoxydiglycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol, Pullulan, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Lactic Acid, Lecithin

Buy HERE or HERE

What is Alpha Arbutin you ask? Alpha Arbutin is extracted from plants such as bearberries, blueberries, and cranberries, it is a skin brightening and lightening ingredient. If you have post acne marks, melasma, pigmentation around your mouth or on the sides of the face, you should definitely include Alpha Arbutin in your skincare regime.

Alpa Arbutin reduces skin’s pigment production by suppressing the enzymes that stimulate melanin. It also slows down the process by which UV light causes pigmentation, so it both prevents and treats pigmentation issues. But keep in mind it is not a whitening or fairness product and don’t expect it to change your skin colour/tone. It is meant to even out the skin and help in fading marks.

It is much safer and gentler unlike Kojic Acid or Hydroquinone which are known to have some side effects and can irritate skin.

They have also added 1% Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate), HA is found in our skin already and it acts as a sponge helping the skin to hold onto water, being plump and elastic. Sometimes our skin doesn’t produce enough HA and it looks dry, dehyrated, wrinkly, HA is famous for its crazy water holding capacity as it can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water.

It’s slightly runny but not as watery and runny as the Vitamin C serum. The base they have used here is Aloe Vera Juice instead of Water which again is soothing and calming

The added hydration benefit from Sodium Hyaluronate along with Alpha Arbutin is amazing. Both Vitamin C and Alpha Arbutin help in fading acne scars and reducing hyperpigmentation, so both when used together are a super powerful combination. Like I mentioned, my post acne mark faded within 2-3 weeks when I used both of these together which takes at least a few months otherwise.

I am really happy with the results overall, also the HA helped me in cold and dry Dubai weather in December when my skin was super dry.

At Rs.549/– it’s a total value for money and I am definitely repurchasing it again. Highly recommend this as well!

And the final serum now, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc

Ingredients: Aloe Vera Juice, Niacinamide, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Propanediol, Ethoxydiglycol, Zinc PCA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Pullulan, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Lecithin

Buy HERE or HERE

Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3, it is a water soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly minimize enlarged pores, improve uneven skin tone, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened skin barrier.

It also helps in balancing the sebum production, so works really well for oily skin.  It reduces the appearance of fine lines and blemishes over time

The vitamin B3 and mineral zinc duo are potent enough to reduce visible blemishes and clear congested pores. Also, they have used aloe juice instead of water which makes it more calming and soothing.

The formula is little thicker and slightly tacky, compared to the other two. But the stickiness is gone after a few seconds on the skin and it’s absorbed. Also I found the dropper for this little inconvenient or may be because it’s slightly thicker, it doesn’t drop off easily.

Most of the research for Niacinamide is done at 5%, so it works equally well at a lower % too. Minimalist also has a 5% Niacinamide Serum and if you are new to actives, you can maybe start at 5% if you feel your skin won’t be able to handle 10%

Compared to Alpha Arbutin and Vitamin C, Niacinamide works slow and over a long period of time, so you might not notice visible difference and since I don’t have oily skin and already use other skin care products in my regime which have a little bit of Niacinamide in them, the results for me weren’t miraculous. But I do like adding Niacinamide in my regime for improving my skin barrier and for long term effectiveness.

I won’t say this is a must have, I do like the other two serums more but I am still going to repurchase and continue using it since Niacinamide is overall beneficial for the skin.

But if you have oily skin, I do recommend giving this a try.

Overall, I am pretty happy with Minimalist products and I am planning to try the Multi Peptide Serum, 2% Retinoid and Sepicalm Moisturizer next.

I would love to see more launches from Minimalist, hoping to see some lip balms and Azelaic Acid this year.

You can follow me on Instagram HERE for more skincare reviews and updates.

Why is Exfoliation Essential For Your Skin

Why is Exfoliation Essential For Your Skin

Hi guys,

Let’s talk about exfoliation today and why it is essential for your skin. So many people still don’t exfoliate this date and that basically adds layers and layers of dead skin. Our skin goes through a natural shedding process every 30 days or so and if we don’t exfoliate, it would take a long time to shed on it’s own and it also leads to ingrown hair, rough patches, debris and dead skin sitting on the skin’s surface.

Exfoliating regularly helps get rid of the dead skin cells and also helps in faster regeneration of the new layer of skin.

Let’s see some benefits of exfoliation:

  • Unclogs pores
  • Removes dead skin cells
  • Makes skin smooth and supple
  • Helps get rid of ingrown hair
  • Helps get rid of uneven tan
  • Removes the dirt and debris sitting on the skin
  • Helps in blood circulation
  • Helps loosen and remove the blackheads
  • In the long term, also helps in producing collagen keeping skin softer, smoother and wrinkle free
  • Helps reduce cellulite

So there are numerous benefits of exfoliation and it is the key to a soft, smooth skin.

I have been using and loving the mCaffeine Coffee Body Scrub currently. Coffee is the best ingredient when it comes to body scrubbing/exfoliation.

About mCaffeine: mCaffeine is India’s 1st Caffeinated Personal Care Brand. All of mCaffeine’s products are infused with caffeine. Caffeine being a superfood for hair and skin, it’s an extension to the hyperactive lifestyle and individualistic identity.

All mCaffeine products are SLS-Paraben Free, Vegan, Clinically tested, cruelty free, Made Safe Certified

This scrub has the goodness of both coffee and coconut. Coffee polishes skin, exfoliates, removes tan, dead cells and reduces cellulite. The caffeine in coffee tones the skin and coconut moisturizes and nourishes the skin.

The texture is very fine and not at all harsh, so it is even safe for sensitive skin. It comes with a wooden spoon which helps you scoop out the product. Take some product in your palms, mix with a little bit of water and exfoliate all of your body parts, especially the parts where we tend to get rougher, drier skin like elbows and knees.

It smells absolutely amazing, if you love coffee, the entire bath experience when using the scrub is sensorial and the whole bathroom smells like the Coorg coffee plantation.

I love the ingredients and it leaves the skin super soft post exfoliation, and because of the coconut oil skin feels moisturized and hydrated.

Coffee Body scrubs are gender neutral and this can be used by both men and women. Men need to keep their skin soft too 😀

How often should you exfoliate? I would say once a week is good enough. You will need about 4 spoons of this scrub for exfoliating the entire body, so this tub will last you quite long.

It’s a total value for money at Rs.449/-

Overall, I really like this mCaffeine Coffee Body Scrub and would recommend it.

My Current Favourite Skin Care Products Step by Step

My Current Favourite Skin Care Products Step by Step

Hi guys,

So I did this skin care series on my Instagram, and if you follow me on Instagram you would know I am obsessed with skin care. I thought of sharing the same here on my blog as well.

I absolutely love skin care and I feel good skin is the base for any makeup look, you don’t need super heavy coverage foundations and concealers if you have good skin, the layers will only end up making your base look heavy and cakey. A major % of how your skin behaves depends on genetics and diet. You can only control the diet part of course and regular skin care with good diet can solve a lot of your skin concerns.

I have been super regular with my skin care since more than a year now and have noticed a huge difference in my pores, lines, texture, pigmentation around the mouth, etc. I do have a detailed skin care routine video on my channel, but the products keep on changing as I experiment and review new brands and as per how my skin is feeling, the order is the same though (Watch HERE)

Step 1: Double Cleanse

Starting with Step 1 which is Double Cleanse, as the name suggests it means cleansing twice. First cleanse with an oil/balm especially if you are wearing makeup/sunscreen. Oil or balm will melt all the makeup/dirt/grime from the pores. You need to massage the oil or balm well for 30-40 seconds and then emulsify it with water for 10-15 seconds. Then follow with the second cleanse, which will be a gentle foaming cleanser. It will wash off all the excess oil/dirt left, if any. You can also use a reusable cloth wipe to remove the makeup after first cleanse, only water also works for me.

I haven’t bought makeup wipes in years and would not recommend them at all, they are very harsh on the skin + not bio degradable. I do have a few bio degradable ones which I use, only when I am travelling.

Coming to micellar water, you can use it as a first cleanse but you absolutely need to do the second cleanse with it unlike the ‘no rinse’ marketing claim. Micellar water is made of small micelles which leave a surface residue on the skin. I am not a fan of micellar waters because oils/balms do the best job in removing makeup for me, plus some micellar waters sting my sensitive eyes.

Products shown:

1. Isadora Cleansing Oil
2. Pixi Beauty Hydrating Makeup Remover with coconut & probiotics
3. Heimish All Clean Balm
4. Pixi Double Cleanse Balm
5. Clinique Take The Day Off
6. Pond’s Cleansing Balm
7. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
8. Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash (soap free)
9. Suganda Centella Green Tea Face Wash
10. Forest Essentials Kashmiri Saffron & Neem Delicate Facial Cleanser
11. Kama Ayurveda Sensitive Skin Cleansing Foam with Sandalwood & Aloe Vera

Step 2 is Tone/Treat, it’s CTTM now in place of CTM. Treat is a very essential step in skincare and all your actives, serums, essence are a part of Treat.

Toners and Serums can be exfoliating or hydrating. If you use an exfoliating toner, go for a hydrating/calming serum and vice versa. You can also use both hydrating (if you have exfoliation in your cleanser/moisturizer) but don’t use both exfoliating because we don’t want to sensitize our skin. I like actives (Vit C, Chemical Exfoliants, etc.) in the form of toners and serums. Things you should add in your skincare routine, if you haven’t already:

Vitamin C
AHA/BHA
Niacinamide (optional)

Vit C (Ascorbic Acid) increases production of collagen, reduces hyper pigmentation and evens out skin tone, brightens skin and protects against pollution and sun damage.
Best used in serum form (10-20%) Start with 10%, when used in the mornings before sunscreen, boosts the protection from sun damage.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids i.e. Glycolic, Lactic, Mandelic, etc are water soluble and work on surface layer of skin, works better for dry/dull skin.
Beta Hydroxy Acids i.e. Salicylic Acid is oil soluble and goes deep into the pores to unclog the pores and hence works well for oily, acne prone skin.

Both AHA/BHA unglue the bond holding dead skin on the surface and exfoliate the skin. Also help improve the texture, bumps, minimize the appearance of pores and uneven skin tone, etc. But you need to be regular to see results.

If you are a beginner at chemical exfoliation, start with Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic which has 5% Glycolic Acid and is gentle enough for everyday use as well.
Suganda AHA/BHA serums are also very gentle for beginners as they are balanced with Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) and Green Tea.
Paula’s Choice 8% AHA gel works well for dry skin and 2% BHA liquid exfoliant for oily/acne prone skin or those with enlarged pores.
Dr.Sheths Gulab Glycolic Toner is also very, very gentle for daily use. (You can use my coupon code ‘BHUMIKA’ to get 20% off on Dr.Sheths products)

Niacinamide (Vit B3) helps in reducing inflammation, redness, regulates oil production & minimizes the appearance of pores. Works best with Zinc, in serum form. (5-20%, can start with 5-10%) You can add it at a later stage.

Step 3 is Repair/ Hydrate which will again have serums and essences, now if you have used an active serum/toner, you can use an hydrating essence to balance and calm. This will include mostly calming, repairing and hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, cica, honey, propolis, ceramides, etc. Some repairing serums/essences may have little actives, so on some days you can skip actives all together and just use this.

The Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid and the Olay Retinol24 Serum fall under actives but I use them on non active days or just with Niacinamide (not with AHA or BHA) and they have a cream gel and a serum like consistency + some hydrating ingredients.

Products shown:

Secret Key Multi Cell Night Repair
May Coop Raw Sauce
Guerlain Abeille Royale
Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic Serum
Dr.Sheths Cica & Ceramide Repair Serum
Nacific Fresh Herb Origin Serum

Step 4 Moisturize

Now you generally wouldn’t go wrong with a Moisturizer, it’s a pretty basic skincare product and most brands make a good one. The only rule you need to remember is keep it simple, less ingredients, and no fragrance if possible.
Moisturizer should have occlusives, humectants and emollients.

Occlusives (petrolatum and other oily substances) hold the water in. Humectants (glycerine, honey, panthenol, etc.) pull water both from the air and from deeper layers of skin. Hence occlusives and humectants are used together, to trap the moisture in, and to not let it pull from the skin. Emollients like some fatty alcohols fill the dry, flaky skin with fatty substances, called lipids, which make your skin smoother and softer.

Other ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, vitamins, etc. are added benefits.

Now you can use the same Moisturizer day and night if you like, but I would say use a night cream with a slightly heavy texture or a sleeping mask, which will help repair the skin. Also since most people now sleep in an air conditioned room, the added moisture and sealing helps.

Products shown:

1. Clinique Moisture Surge
2. Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream
3. Pixi Retinol Jasmine Lotion
4. Nellietier Face Cream
5. Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer
6. Etude India Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream
7. Etude Moistfull Collagen Cream

Night Creams:

1. Dr.Sheths Haldi Hyaluronic Sleeping mask
2. Iunik Propolis Vitamin Sleeping Mask
3. Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Overnight Rice Mask
4. Pixi Vit C Caviar Balm
5. Dr.Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Deep Cream

Apart from these, I also really love Suganda White Lotus Moisturizer in summers and the Rosehip Moisturizer in winters.

Step 5 for daytime and the most important is Sunscreen.

You may spend thousands on skin treatments and expensive skin care products, but even few minutes of direct sun exposure without sunscreen can negate all the effects.

UVA and UVB rays can cause skin cancer and lead to premature aging, wrinkles and sun spots.
UVA (Aging) rays can cause tanning and aging and UVB (Burning) rays can cause burning, your sunscreen should be broad spectrum meaning protect against both rays.

Chemical exfoliation and actives make your skin photosensitive, so you cannot skip your sunscreen at all.
Sunscreen can be physical (with zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, etc.) Or chemical (with avobenzone, octisalate, oxybenzone, etc.) Earlier, physical sunscreens used to leave a strong, white cast but now you most physical sunscreens use nano technology and the nano particles blend in better. Physical ingredients block the UV rays and chemical absorb and scatter. I like a mix of both in my sunscreens, but if you are allergic to any chemical ingredient, make sure you check the ingredients before you buy.

SPF (Sun Protection Factor) denotes the time your skin can be protected from UVB rays i.e.burning. If your skin would normally burn after 10 minutes in the sun, applying an SPF 15 sunscreen would allow you to stay in the sun without burning for approximately 150 minutes.

You can use SPF 30 or 50, but the key is reapplication every two hours!
PA denotes protection from UVA rays and PA+++ is the best and highest level (some countries have researched and included PA++++ in certain products)

So SPF 30 PA+++ should be good enough, but make sure you reapply. You can reapply in spray or powder form if you have makeup on through the day. Also you need one teaspoon qty for face and one shot glass qty for entire body in one application (especially the exposed skin)

Products shown:

1. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+ PA+++
2. Brinton UV Doux Silicone Sunscreen Gel SPF50 PA+++
3. Biotique Bio Aloe Vera SPF30 (good for indoors or entire body)
4. Skin & Lab FreC Sun Lotion SPF 50+ PA+++ (with Vit C)
5. Organic Harvest SPF 60 PA+++
6. Avene Very High Protection Emulsion SPF

Weekly Treatments

Apart from my daily skincare routine, I also use some masks and additional exfoliation products once a week or once in 10-11 days.

You can increase Retinol to once in 2-3 days once your skin is past the ‘Retinization’ phase, I am using it once a week currently. I use the @deciem Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2%. Granactive Retinoid has hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), a retinoic acid ester with a similar action on the skin as Retin-A. It is not the same as Retinol, and hence 2% of that is actually equal to very less retinol comparatively but there is no exact proven measurement.

Also once your skin gets used to regular acids, you can try the 30% AHA, 2% BHA from Ordinary which is an amazing at home exfoliating peel. But do not try it if you have very sensitive skin or your skin barrier is compromised or you can’t tolerate acids. There are a lot of precautions you need to take like skin should be dry, not to keep longer than 10mins, follow with a rich Moisturizer and loads of sunscreen, etc.

For beginner level, I would recommend the Secret Key lemon sparkling peeling gel, Pixi Peel & Polish.

My favourite masks when my skin is feeling dry are Fresh Rose Mask, Biossance Squalane + Vit C Rose Mask and Glamglow Thirsty Mud. For breakouts, Glamglow Supermud, Raw Nature Dead Sea Mud & Charcoal, Pixi T zone Peel off mask.

Also apart from these, pretty much all of The Body Shop Masks. I am not a fan of sheet masks, I haven’t bought a sheet mask in years (also most are not bio degradable). But I do have a lot of them from PR which I am trying to finish.

Let me know your skincare routine and your current favourite skin care products in the comments below 🙂

5 Effective Skincare Products for Women in their 30’s | Current Skin Care Routine

5 Effective Skincare Products for Women in their 30’s | Current Skin Care Routine

Hi guys,

While skincare has always been a constant change for me, I have realised that moving from the 20’s to the 30’s your skin is also diversifying through age. So I have decided to share my skincare routine that has worked for me during my 30’s. While I am testing products that suit my skin I have a few constants that I maintain on regular basis, here are some to try for starters.

Let’s begin with the eyes, a rich night cream and an eye cream are products that are absolutely necessary for your 30’s. While I suggest that these products can be used at 25-26 for early preventive measures for anti aging. For instance, whenever I skip an eye cream for some weeks in between, I instantly notice dryness around my eyes and it also accentuates the lines more when I apply makeup/concealer.

Second most important thing to add is a serum, especially a hyaluronic acid based one. It’s a powerful humectant that retains the moisture and plumps up the skin. I also use a Vitamin C based one during night time.

Now coming to acne, there is no such thing as ‘You break out only in your teens’. It’s a myth, break outs occur anytime due to hormonal imbalance (that time of the month) or your skin/pores are clogged and not cleansed/exfoliated well. Yes, now coming to cleansing, which is the most important step in skincare. While you can skip a serum or moisturizer but never for daily skin cleansing! Especially when you wear makeup, be it little or more. Even sunscreen needs to be cleansed/taken off completely. I use oil to take off my makeup, it melts the makeup completely and most of it comes off with water. And then I double cleanse with a gentle face wash.

I realised that, I was breaking out a lot around my chin and on the sides close to ears. The break outs near the ears could be due to lymphatic fluids but I know that it was time to make a change in my cleansing routine.

After much research I decided to invest in the Foreo LUNA2 which is by far the best skin cleansing device I have bought online. When I say investment, it is because the device is on the expensive side. However, after much anticipation and watching several review videos online plus a 4.5 star rating, I knew it had to become mine. So I waited for Sephora India online which is known as nnnow.com to have a sale. The minute I saw a 10% sale I quickly got mine.

The Luna 2 cleansing device comes in four variants i.e. for each skin type – Normal, Combination, Sensitive, Oily. I bought the Normal skin type which came in pink. The cleansing device has two sides to it, one side is meant for cleansing and the other side for massaging, which makes it the perfect device to invest in, for your 30s.

The LUNA2 gently exfoliates dead skin cells, unclogs pores and removes 99.5% of dirt, oil and any
remnants of makeup. So after wiping my skin with oil, I double cleanse with my Luna 2 with a gentle face wash on it and go over for about a minute. You won't believe the amount of makeup that still comes off after cleansing, which would never come off otherwise just with your hands.

Then I go over the other massaging side for a minute, which uses lower frequency pulsations to massage the face and reduce fine lines around the eyes and mouth, giving the skin a firmer, lifted appearance over time. It helps in blood circulation and lymphatic drainage too. Your skin care penetrates deeply, making it more effective.

Touchwood, I haven’t broken out even once since the time I have started using my LUNA2 cleansing device and super content with this investment. Just one hour of charging lasts 100+ uses, so almost over 4 to 5 months. It is made of medical grade silicone which is non porous and naturally resistant to bacterial build up, hardly needs any cleaning and looks almost as new even after months or years. It is super soft and very gentle, compared to the brush based cleansing devices. The latter also needs frequent cleansing and changing brush heads, adding to the cost later.

After cleansing and massaging, I use a mild, exfoliating toner on alternate days to get rid of dead skin build-up and smoothen the texture of the skin. Every now and then I do use very gentle and mild toners which can be used daily for sensitive skin as well. Since my LUNA2 is a good exfoliator I only keep alternating toners as over exfoliation can make your skin dehydrated over a long time. I am currently switching between Dr.Sheths Gulab and Glycolic Toner & Pixi Glow Tonic.

For my serum, I am using the Skindeva Matrixyl Synthe ‘6 Serum with Hyaluronic Acid which helps in deeply hydrating the skin and preventing wrinkles, for day time. And for night time, I am using Skindeva Vitamin C + E + Ferulic Acid serum or the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

I follow it up with an eye cream and a moisturizing sunscreen during day time and a night cream + eye cream at night. Currently using Avene SPF 50 High Protection Sunscreen for day, Dr.Sheths Multitasking Miracle Cream for night and Dr.Sheths Date & Quinoa Eye cream.

To sum up, if you are touching 30s or in your 30s you need to definitely add these things in your skin
care routine –

• A cleansing device and a massaging device or both in one, like in Foreo LUNA 2
• Serum, preferably Hyaluronic Acid based one for day and Vitamin C based one for night
• Mild Exfoliating Toner, alternate days
• Eye Cream
• Rich Night Cream

Apart from these regular for all ages..

• Sunscreen
• Face Mask, once a week

How I Protect My Hair From Damage

How I Protect My Hair From Damage

Hi guys,

I have been using this new range from BBLUNT for about two weeks now and if you follow me on
Instagram, you must have seen the story I did about this new haircare range and how my hair looks the
day after I wash it.

It was this Repair Remedy Range from BBLUNT. This range is specifically meant to help hair that has been damaged by chemical treatments, pollution and heat styling, get back to life!

The two key ingredients of this range are Keratin and Argan Oil which help repair damaged hair and give it a shiny, smooth and soft feel and look respectively.

BBLUNT products are specially created for Indian hair and this range offers colour protection as well, so even if your hair is coloured or chemically treated, you can use this range.

Repair Remedy Shampoo

MRP: Rs.675/- for 400ml

Repair Remedy Conditioner

MRP: Rs.450/- for 200g

Claims: Severe damage to hair caused by pollution, chemical treatments and heat styling results in the need for extreme repair. Made with a special blend of Keratin and Argan Oil, this conditioner is perfect for coarse, brittle and damaged hair that needs a bit of love. Hair looks shiny, feels soft and smooth from root-to-tip. The deal fix for your hair hangover! Helps dry, damaged hair get back to life. Specially created for Indian hair. Colour protect

Repair Remedy Leave-in Cream

Claims: This hydrating leave-in cream helps replenish overly damaged hair, leaving strands supple and repaired without sacrificing natural bounce and movement. It works to smoothen hair whilst protecting it from harmful pollution, chemical treatment and heat styling damages. The special blend of Keratin and Argan Oil helps prevent split-ends and protects against breakage. The ideal fix for your hair hangover! Helps dry damaged hair get back to life.

MRP: Rs.550/- for 150g

I love the bright red colour and the packaging as usual is very convenient, a press pump for shampoo and a cute squeezy round conditioner. The leave-in cream has a very unique and interesting shaped bottle.

I have tried all the hair care ranges in BBLUNT and I have to say, this one is my absolute favourite.

My hair feels super sleek and smooth, very straight and shiny after using this range and stays so for 3 days. The best part is there are absolutely no knots in the hair even after washing, when there are usually at least 2-3.

I don’t use heat everyday or colour or chemically treat my hair, but sometimes for shoots you do have to style or use heat and that does damage your hair eventually. Since the time I have started using this range, I see a visible difference in my hair health and it feels so smooth, that I just can’t stop touching my hair or running my fingers through it.

Shampoo foams well and the conditioner is rich enough to hydrate the ends, but not weigh the hair down. It also amazingly detangles. The leave-in adds to the shine and smoothness and nourishes the ends.

I am super impressed with this range, and honestly it delivers much more than I expected it to. Highly recommend the BBLUNT Repair Remedy Range, especially if your hair is coloured/chemically treated/dry/damaged.

The packaging is similar to their It’s A Pout Time Vivid and Never Say Dry Creme Lipsticks but the cap shuts quite tight and is very secure.

One issue with this packaging is they are all plain black and now can’t differentiate between these 3 formulas too.

I love the pigmentation and texture, it’s a plush, powder matte look and feel, just as it claims. It is super comfortable on the lips and very light weight. It doesn’t feel like you have any lipstick on. I am all about the matte finish but have dry lips, so this fills in the lines and doesn’t accentuate them and is still matte.

It doesn’t transfer much, there is minimal transfer and stays put easily for 7-8 hours. With a full oil based meal, might need touch up at the centre but is very easy to touch up and layer.
