Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Treatment and Range Review

Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Treatment and Range Review

If you remember my #MakingUpWithMatrix posts on my facebook, twitter and Instagram, I had gone for this Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Treatment at the Matrix Hair Academy. And later on, I was using this range to see the difference.

I was attended by Faiyaz Shaikh– Asst. Manager, Artistic at Matrix.

About the Fiberstrong range: BIOLAGE Advance FIBERSTRONG is the next generation of hair care from MATRIX that offers anti-hair fall hair products & services specially formulated to tackle weak, fragile and brittle hair.

Fiberstrong combines the goodness of Nature with BAMBOO and the power of Molecular Science with INTRA-CYLANE to give 95% less hair breakage in just 1 application. Bamboo passes on its strength to the hair promoting the elasticity of hair strands. Intra-cylane, an exclusive patented molecule, helps fill in the gaps and seals cuticles to reduce breakage. These indulgent ingredients help in creating a structural reinforcement system to strengthen weakened hair cuticles as they condition the hair for ultra -soft & smooth results.

Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Treatment and Range Review

It claims to have the power of Intra-Cylane and Bamboo extracts which gives 12 x stronger hair. Its a hair strengthening treatment against hair breakage and hair fall. And also claims to help reduce hair breakage by 95% in one application.

Step 1: At first, the hair is checked, by pulling one strand of your hair. If it goes back to its position and has elasticity and is strong enough. Upon that, its decided which stage of treatment your hair requires.

There are 3 stages:

Stage 1: Normal hair..not much breakage

Stage 2: Hair does not have enough elasticity and is prone to hair breakage

Stage 3: Damaged hair..breaks and falls easily.

Thankfully, I was falling under Stage 1, but Faiyaz said he would give the Stage 2 treatment so that I can see the difference.

Step 2: Hair wash and conditioning with the Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner.

Step 3: Fiberstrong Intra-Cylane Concentrate is applied on every section of hair.

Step 4: Fiberstrong Strengthening Masque is applied.

Step 6 and 7: Hair is rinsed and towel dried.

Step 8 : He applied Fiberstrong Strengthening Leave-in-cream and blow dried..and finished with few drops of Matrix Biolage Serum for shine.

This treatment is to be followed by using the Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Strengthening Shampoo, Conditioner and leave-in-cream at home. Faiyaz made me feel my hair and I could definitely feel the difference.

For Stage 3 hair, special Aminexil ampules are used which anchor the roots and prevent hair fall.

The treatment costs anywhere between Rs.600- to Rs.1500/- depending on the hair damage stage and the salon. Its available in all salons which house Matrix services and products. Find a salon near you HERE

The products used..shampoo, conditioner, masque, leave-in-cream,serum and the intra-cylane concentrate.

And here is my before-after..

A front after shot..why break up when you can make up 😀

Coming to the Matrix Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong Strengthening shampoo and conditioner I was using later on..

Shampoo claims and usage:

MRP: Rs.270/- for 200ml, Rs.485/- for 400ml

Ingredients:

Conditioner claims and usage:

MRP: Rs220/- for 98g, Rs.380/- for 196g

Ingredients:

I like the packaging in gray and green…the shampoo foams well and cleanses hair well..I normally see hair falling during shampooing too..but with this range, the hair fall during shampooing was very less.

The conditioner is not very creamy and moisturising..its light in texture and easy to use and rinses off easily since not very rich.

I see volume and strength in my hair and less hair fall too, but my hair is not soft and smooth which I generally prefer. Maybe its coz  of the conditioner, I do like the shampoo though. I would recommend this range for fine, limp hair which faces a lot of hair fall.

If you have tried many hair fall shampoos and conditioners and nothing has worked for you, give this range a try ! I am sure you will not regret. And also try and include the Intra-Cylane strengthening leave-in-Cream with it. I have not used that..but that would give better results together.

The Fiberstrong Treatment is surely worth a try..and at that price, its quiet worth it too..your hair does need some strengthening apart from the regular haircuts and styling !

MRP: Rs.1695/- for 28ml

Ok so to start with, let me tell you, I loveee serums and oils…mostly use one every night, if at all, I am not trying out an overnight cream or something. (Which is rare these days..skin on a testing spree :/)

It comes in a small pink glass bottle with a dropper. The serum is transparent and clear..it feels like a very light oil. You just need 2-3 drops, blend in your hands and lightly apply over the face and neck.

It has a sweet fragrance..I am not too fond of perfumes and fragrance in my serums and oils unless it is a natural one like lavender essential oil. If you read the ingredients list above, you see many ingredients being used just for fragrance which I think could have been avoided.

Coming to the texture of it, it is so super light..sinks in the skin under a minute. No oiliness or greasiness. And the skin feels super soft and plump the next day. Vitamin E also helps in fading your acne marks, etc. If you have dry skin or dry patches, it will help you get rid of the patches within a week. Skin feels better and better every morning with regular use.

Pros:

1. Super light in texture.

2. Sinks in the skin and no oiliness or greasiness.

3. Skin feels super soft and plump the next morning…no dry patches.

4. Has a blend of oils in ingredients like wheatgerm, sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, sesame and Vitamin E and glycerin which are all amazing for the skin.

5. You just need 2-3 drops, so 28ml would last a long time.

6. It may be slightly expensive but when compared to other serums in that category, its half their price.

Cons:

1. Glass bottle not travel friendly.

2. I would have liked it without the added fragrance ingredients.

Overall, I would say its quite nice and perfect for dry to normal skin..works for my combination skin too. Oily skin should try it in winters. I love how skin is more softer and smoother with it, the next morning..and also gets the dose of some hydrating oils in a serum form which is quite light on the skin. Recommended!

I also love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, but that it priced at Rs.2750/- for 30ml. If I have to choose one, I would go with Kiehl’s coz I like it a little bit more 😀 But I would definitely suggest trying out this Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil and if you are getting it at 20-30% off on sales, surely grab it!

Lakmé Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening Serum and Light Creme Review

Lakmé Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening Serum and Light Creme Review

Remember I first mentioned about this new Perfect Radiance Cream and Serum launch HERE.

What the Company claims: Lakmé Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening™ Serum consists of Luminizing Vitamins that make your skin more even and radiant; while the Light Reflecting Pearls highlight your skin texture.

Price : Rs.799/- for 30ml.

Lakme Perfect Radiance Light Creme: Lakmé Perfect Radiance Intense Whitening™ Light Crème consists of Bio Hydrators that work towards replenishing the skin’s moisture; while the Luminizing Vitamins lighten your complexion from within.

Price : Rs.275/- for 50gm.

The revolutionary Lakmé Perfect Radiance Polishing Serum and Light Crème works in 3 effective steps:
1. The luminizing vitamins make your skin more even and radiant and insta-collagen TM boosters tighten skin
2. Light Reflecting Pearls highlights your skins texture and creates an irresistible sheen
3. The final touch is a silky smooth, polished skin finish.

This 3 way action gives you that high definition polished look with a glow, and makes your skin luminous and smooth in texture to keep you ramp ready always.

Ok..so as per the claims the serum makes the skin more even and radiant and the cream hydrates and lightens (Not a fan of the lightening claim anyway)

I have been using a combination of these both from quite some time..2-3 weeks around. Both come in a pink packaging..the cream is a normal tub packaging and the serum is twist and pump out dispensor packaging..a few faced issues with the pump..so please check that if possible.

Light Creme is light pink in color. It has a floral baby powder kinda smell. Definitely tightens the skin. The cream provides some basic moisturisation..but also gives a tightening effect to the face. As the name suggests, its quite light in texture and smooth to apply. The serum is very light in texture and feels siliconey on application.. but quite water like and no greasiness or stickiness with it.

It gives a cooling minty sensation for a few minutes. I like how the skin looks smoother and fresh the next morning..I use this serum overnight and have been loving the effect on the face next morning.

I am not sure of the brightening and lightning claim..but it did help me reduce my tan a bit. I was also carrying it for my Beauty and The Blogger Show..and even with 3 hours of sleep, skin looked decent enough on all 3 days thanks to this!

It was travel friendly and easy to carry around..only the serum requires quite a few pumps at times for the product to dispense.

The cream is decently priced and it would last long too..the serum is priced a little on the higher side and would never be able to see the quantity left too.

I am not much a fan of the Light Creme..its a basic regular moisturising cream..but I quite loved the serum. Would definitely recommend the serum.

Kaya AntOx Vit-C Formula Serum Review

Kaya AntOx Vit-C Formula Serum Review

What the Company claims: It is a non-oily, easily absorbing anti-oxidants gel based on Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to counteract free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing, protect the skin against environmental assault and delay the appearance of dark spot, fine lines and wrinkles and gives you softer, smoother skin.

How to use: It is a non-oily, easily absorbing anti-oxidants gel based on Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to counteract free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing, protect the skin against environmental assault and delay the appearance of dark spot, fine lines and wrinkles and gives you softer, smoother skin.

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Cellulose Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

MRP: Rs.1790/- for 30ml

It comes in a small glass bottle pump packaging with a cap to cover that shuts perfectly tight..and had a seal at the start..for authenticity.

Its a transparent watery gel in texture..not too runny..and does’nt give any strong Vitamin C smell which is normally found in Vit C products..also it blends in well and is quiet light weight and non greasy.

But it does not moisturise and definitely need a separate moisturiser. And also what I noticed is, it sits on the face like a layer and does not get absorbed..and when you wash your face, you notice the slippery layer going away.

As far as the effect goes, I saw minor reduction and fading in 2-3 spots after continued usage. And cannot comment on lines or wrinkles coz I don’t have them. But there is not brightening as such.

Actually, Vitamin C serums have never worked that great on my skin..had the same experience with Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Concentrate..it did not do anything much for me..Instead Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate worked better for me..and skin was brighter and glowing whenever I used that..same with this..the Kaya Brightening Serum which I reviewed HERE worked great for me than this.

So, I would recommend this to people on whom Vitamin C works or may be try it out at the clinic first. For me, if I had to choose one, I would go with the Kaya Brightening Serum.

Pros:

1. Non greasy.
2. Light in texture.
3. Easy to use day or night.
4. Good pump packaging.
5. Continued usage helps in fading spots..and might help in wrinkles and lines too.

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Sits like a layer on the face.
3. Results were pretty ok.

Overall I would say its a nice serum and more suitable for people searching an anti-aging serum but who do not need an anti aging one..should go for the Brightening one.

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum Review

Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum Review

What the Company claims: A product that will get rid of the source of growing problems of skin darkening, uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, dehydration, dryness, roughness and dullness of the skin due to overexposure and ageing.

The new fortified complex in the Neutrogena® Fine Fairness® Brightening Serum in synergy with Neutrogena® Healthywhite Complex™- a white lily extract and Retinol, works from the inside out, simultaneously targeting all three elements of tone, texture and hydration to bring out lasting healthy fairness. The naturally derived White Lily extract enhances whitening from within. In addition, it effectively promotes lightening of dark spots via the effective action of Retinol in the epidermis. Double your skin’s whitening power for even-toned lasting healthy fairness. This breakthrough high penetrating formula penetrates beneath the skin surface and helps deactivate melanin production at the source for a renewed visibly brightened skin tone.

Directions: Use 1-2 times a day after cleansing. Lightly massage in to boost penetration. Close pump after each use. (It oxidizes if left open)

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs. 599/- for 30ml

Its a white colored bottle with a silver top and a plastic cap. Its a pump dispensor..so quite easy to use..you need just 1 pump..or max two pumps for the entire face..but since it has retinol..many do not use it all over the face..just on dark spots or problem areas. I like using serums..some how they work better and deeper for me..than just moisturisers..

Its a light yellow colored liquid..if you have used a serum..you would know the texture..not exactly like a lotion nor like a gel..some where in between..has a sweet smell similar to all Neutrogena products..I just pat it on..and restrict it to use at night..since it has retinol..which makes the skin sensitive..if you use it at day time..make sure you use a high SPF sunscreen..

You might experience some itching for a few minutes after application coz of the retinol..do not fret..some even experienced peeling of the skin in the first week..but skin was brighter and better the next week..depends on how your skin reacts to retinol..do a test patch first if you like..

Pros:

1. Does lighten dark spots and makes the skin more even toned..but not an overnight effect..takes 2-3 weeks for the difference to show up. But if you are suffering from dark spots, you should surely give this a try.

2. Skin is more brightened when used all over..I have used it both ways..but I prefer using it on dark spots more..as I do not want to use retinol all over.

3. Non comedogenic and oil free.

4. Did not break me out..but there is some itching for a few minutes.

5. It does what it claims.

6. The quantity lasts long.

Cons:

1. Has parabens, phenoxyethanol and silicones.

2. May not suit sensitive and dry skin.

3. Skin does need added moisturisation.

Overall I did like it..and the brightening effect it gives to the skin. I did not have many dark spots..but it makes the skin more even toned..if you suffer from dark spots..this might help. But I do not recommend it for dry or sensitive skin.

Raw Gaia MSM Beauty Spray Review

Raw Gaia MSM Beauty Spray Review

What the Company claims:  A unique moisturiser with outstanding skin regeneration properties and a heavenly aroma. Made with precious cold-pressed oils, organic floral waters & MSM, without the use of any preservatives or alcohol.

Each of the ingredients has powerful skin regeneration properties which help to nourish deeply, repair damaged & scarred tissue and give an unmistakable glow to your skin.

Ingredients: MSM Beauty cream is made with:

MSM: A nutritional form of sulphur. Adequate levels of sulphur help to promote a radiant complexion, glowing skin and mineralised hair. Sulphur is often referred to as “The beauty mineral”.

Cold-pressed, wild crafted argan oil: Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and plays a vital role in skin de-aging and wrinkle repair. Rich in essential fatty acids, it helps to revitalize and nourish the skin and is of vital importance for cell structure renewal. It is recommended for acne, stretch and chicken pox marks and certain skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Cold-pressed, organic rosehip oil: Sun exposure, environmental stresses, lifestyle and injury can all result in damage and unnecessary premature aging of the skin. Rosehip oil is the perfect antidote. This unique oil is a powerhouse of nutrients and essential fatty acids that play a vital role in the regeneration process of our skin cells and the repair of damaged tissues. Rosehip oil is a fine oil that absorbs instantly, allowing the skin to breathe, helping to reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines and pigmentation and restoring the skin’s moisture balance.

Wild crafted frankincense essential oil & floral water: Both are excellent conditioners for the skin. Frankincense is perfect for mature skin and it can improve skin structure and texture as it encourages the growth of new skin cells.

Ingredients:

MRP: £19.99 for 50ml

Suitable for all skin types

Sold in a bottle with spray atomizer

It also comes in a cream form…which is more rich and meant for dry skin..

Whats the difference between the two ?

The MSM Beauty cream and the MSM Beauty spray are basically the same. The only difference is that the cream is made from a base of cacao butter and the spray is obviously a spray and not a cream which contains no cacao butter but has argan oil and is a lot lighter than the cream.

I would make your decision based on how dry your skin is and if it is particularly dry then  the MSM Beauty cream is recommended.

Please note: During pregnancy, it is extremely important to be cautious about what you eat and put on your body. It is best to err on the side of caution and we therefore recommend avoiding all products containing essential oils during the first three months.

Ok first of all…I loved the spray bottle packaging..it is super convenient to use..and the blend of essential oils give it a very pleasant light aroma..it comes in a dark blue tinted glass bottle..as it has a blend of essential oils..and has a spray atomiser on top and a plastic cap.

I expected it to be a little lotion like…but this is completely a runny liquid..like water..and looks more like a toner..than a moisturiser..I would say its ideal for very oily skin or oily skin and summers..where we do not like the thick greasy moisturisers..but if your skin is such that it requires more moisturisation..I would suggest trying the MSM Beauty Cream and not the Spray..

Pros:

1. Love the blend of essential oils and Ingredients..
2. Though it has quite a good amount of different essential oils, it feels super light on the skin.
3. Gives a completely matte finish.
4. Love the light aroma.
5. MSM is very good to reduce or stop break outs..so it never broke me out..and those who have acne prone skin can give this a try..if it helps in reducing their acne.
6. The spray bottle packaging is very convenient..though its a glass bottle and one has to be careful with it.

Cons:

1. I did not see any much of a difference on my skin using this.
2. Expensive.
3. It takes a little time to absorb completely..since its in water form.
4. Not available here. Though they ship worldwide..you can buy it here

Overall its a nice moisturiser..especially for oily or sensitive skin or for people who suffer from redness..I liked the ingredients it has..but I did not see any much of a difference on my skin..may be it helps acne prone or sensitive skin more..but I would definitely suggest giving it a try..especially the MSM Beauty Cream for people having dry skin..if you have papery or parched skin..the MSM Beauty Cream would surely help.

Ingredients:

MRP: 1.0 fl. oz Bottle(30 ml)- $43.00 (Rs. 2750/- here)

1.7 fl. oz Bottle- $68.00

It has this dark blue packaging with a black dipper cap. The dipper helps you get the exact quantity..i.e 2-3 drops of it. I quite liked the packaging..the only thing is since its glass it needs to be handled with care..though the glass is quite thick to break just like that.

The main ingredient being evening primrose oil and lavender oil..it has a wonderful smell..which even helps you sleep better..you just need 2-3 drops of it..and so it lasts real real long.

I am using it from the last 3 weeks and its still almost full. I love the lavender smell..its quite soothing. It does make the skin appear healthier and plumper the next day. Even though its a serum and has oils in it..the texture is not sticky or oily..and gets instantly absorbed into the skin. If you have had a stressful or tired skin of late and need to attend an important event…this thing would help you for sure !

Pros:

1. Quite like the ingredients.
2. Does make the skin more radiant, even toned, healthier and plumper.
3. It even helps in drying out your acne and heal them faster.
4. Though its expensive, it lasts real long as you just need 2-3 drops of it.
5. I liked the packaging…there is no scope of any wastage whatsoever.
6. Naturally derived and paraben, fragrance and mineral oil free.
7. Does what it claims.
8. Would help replenish tired skin.

Cons:

1. Has to be stored well..away from light and handled with care.

No other cons as such..I would surely recommend it..in fact it has been recommended by 93% of people on their site too. I would suggest you to try this..especially if you are a bride to be. And I found it much better than the Lancome Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate which is priced almost double and did not do anything for my skin at all.
