The Body Shop Sleepover with Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Hi guys,

So yesterday night I had a sleepover with The Body Shop! Not literally :p But, the lovely people at The Body Shop had sent a surprise box and a letter for a sleepover. That’s all I knew, coz the box and letter was to be opened only when they told us the sleepover would be, and it was yesterday night.

As I read the letter first, I had to rip apart the box immediately, I couldn’t contain my excitement looking at all the cute stuff. See what all I got:

  • A #BounceBackBeautiful tote bag
  • A #BounceBackBeautiful Cute Pillow to hug me 😀
  • A mug
  • Hot Chocolate! (My favourite thing in the kit)
  • A stress busting ball
  • Super cute Pink eye mask (Yes, pink :p)
  • The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

The letter it came with..

The Body Shop Drops of Youth falls under their ‘Nutriganics’ Range.

About the product: Discover our Drops of Youth™ Bouncy Sleeping Mask, enriched with Edelweiss stem cells. Designed to be left on while you sleep, this overnight mask leaves skin looking bouncier and feeling replenished. Discover how this mask will bounce your skin back to youth. • Youth-enhancing formula for bouncier, younger-looking skin • Unique bouncy, memory shape texture • To complete your skin care routine, pair perfectly with Nutriganics Drops of Youth Concentrate and Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate

MRP: Rs.2295/-

How to use: Smooth onto face before bed either alone or after Drops of Youth™ Concentrate, and allow to sink in overnight. Do not wash off. For best results, wait 15 minutes before going to bed.

Here is a video that shows exactly how to use it:

It is white in color and gel-like in texture, feels bouncy indeed, difficult to get the product with hands. It comes with a small, white spatula. I used 2 small spatulas and massaged the product on the skin the same way as in the video. I let it absorb on the skin while I enjoyed my hot chocolate 🙂

Here is a picture of me with the mask on and the ‘After‘ is the morning ‘just washed with water’ face. The difference in light is due to night time and day time light. Also, you can see the shine on the face in the pic with the mask as it was still getting absorbed.

L-with the mask, R- Morning Just ‘washed’ face

My skin indeed felt softer, hydrated and smoother. There was no dryness or stretchiness and skin looked refreshed.

I like the fact that it comes with a spatula which makes it hygienic and easy to get the product. But it comes in a heavy glass jar, so it is not exactly travel friendly.

I was very happy with the ‘Sleepover’ idea and the kit, one of the best ideas by The Body Shop. Also, this is one of the best kits I have ever received from a brand.

I actually slept very peacefully yesterday after ages, I don’t know what exactly worked for me, but no nightmares haunting me (Which has been happening since a lot of days, the same old ‘accident’ scenes) and I slept for a long, long time 😀

Thank you The Body Shop for the kit and the sleepover idea.

I loved the mask and I am going to continue using it, would update you guys.

The Body Shop Red Musk Eau De Parfum Review

The Body Shop Red Musk Eau De Parfum Review

What the Company claims: Defy conventions with Red Musk™ Eau de Parfum. Combining spiced musk with hot notes of cinnamon and intense tobacco for a distinctly different fragrance. No flowers – just a bold blend of musk and spice.Contains cruelty-free musk Lasting eau de parfum Enriched with Community Fair Trade Alcohol from Ecuador

MRP: Rs.2995/- for 60ml

To start with, let me tell you I love warm, woody and musky perfumes, so I was bound to love this one!

Top note: Pepper

Middle note: Cinnamon

Base notes: Tobacco, Musk

The Body Shop Red Musk EDP is a mix of spicy and musky. It smells slightly strong in the first whiff after you directly spray it, but after a few minutes, it settles to a perfect, well balanced fragrance.

Though it does not stay very long, I would have loved if it stayed a bit longer.

It comes in the size of 60ml only currently, I think they should launch a 30ml soon which would be more reasonably priced too.

Its more of an unisex perfume even though it is meant for women, coz of the spicy, musky hit.

If you are like me who more often reaches for men’s perfume and likes strong, spicy, musky smell, you will surely love this and I definitely recommend this to you!

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub Review

MRP: Rs. 1095/- for for 200ml

It comes in a standard TBS scrub and body butter tub packaging, has the golden and blue print the Argan Oil Range has.

Its light brown in color and is gel like wobbly in texture. The argan and walnut shells are mild enough for body exfoliation including the sensitive parts. It spreads out easily since not too thick and washes out easily too.

It does not leave a sticky, slimy feeling and does not dehydrate the skin too. The texture is just perfect. It helps exfoliating some ingrowth hair on the legs, etc. (not the deep ones though)

Overall, its a decent body scrub and I quite like it. Recommended

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet Review

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet Review

What the Company claims: An instant cooling sensation for all day hydration. This silky-soft moisturiser hydrates and refreshes skin with an ultra-light light formula. Learn More → Quenches skin’s thirst Feels like a burst of freshness on skin Enriched with wheatgerm oil Enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter

Directions: Apply to face and neck after cleansing and toning using fingertips.

MRP: Rs.1195/- for 50ml

Ingredients:

It comes in a glass jar packaging and is light pink in color. Has a very weird smell though :/

I like water based gel creams and this is exactly that. Super light in texture and absorbs in a jiffy. It feels cool and soothing on application. It does hydrate the skin, but feels a little silicony. It would make as a great primer underneath makeup.

During the current winters though, I do need extra hydration at times, above this. I feel it launched here at a wrong time. This is the perfect summer product. Though Mumbai is humid and we do not see winters here, so it works.

As you can see in the ingredients, wheatgerm oil, soyabean oil, Tocopherol, Parkii Butter are the hydrating ingredients and Vitamin E part.

But I would recommend this for oily skin and/or for use in summers. I would switch back to this in summers. For now since the chill is just beginning to set in, I would switch to a heavier cream.

Also it contains alcohol as per the ingredients which dries skin more, so dry skin would not particularly like this, especially right now. If you have dry skin but live in a humid place like Mumbai, this would still work.

Overall, I would say its a good product. Only issue would be the smell and the alcohol. Would recommend using it for summers.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: Perfect your complexion and fight the look of blemishes with our Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream. This dual action cream gives you flawless coverage whilst tackling the appearance of blemishes. Formulated with purifying Community Fair Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya. – Blemishes and imperfections are instantly covered – Lightweight formula gives shine-free complexion – 3 shades blend seamlessly into all skin tones for natural-looking coverage.

MRP: Rs.1095/- for 40ml

How to use: Squeeze BB cream onto fingertips and spread all over face until fully blended. Alternatively, dot gently onto emergency blemishes for on the spot coverage. TOP TIP: For best results, use our Tea Tree Pore Minimiser before applying BB Cream for spotless-looking skin with pores that look smaller and skin that appears smoother and more mattified!

Ingredients:

Shades Available: 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Dark

Here are the swatches of all three shades.

I have the shade 02 which is an almost perfect match for me. 01 had grey undertones, so I would have gone with 02 anyways.

It comes in a small green tube packaging with a beige flip cap. Its small and handy to carry around.

The texture is very soft, it feels like butter (maybe coz of shea butter) and spreads like it too. Just that you need to blend it in well. Its very light weight and does’nt feel like you have applied something on the skin. Gives medium coverage and reduces appearance of redness, etc. It won’t give complete coverage or help with acne scars or dark circles.

Its more like a tinted moisturiser. Stays put whole day, but since its quite rich in texture (coz of shea butter and soyabean oil), one needs to set it with a powder or it might look shiny.

I think its good for everyday use and also the tea tree oil would help against further acne. It has a strong tea tree oil smell which is apparent from the time you squeeze the product out.

Here it is on me.

I do not agree on the complete coverage of acne or blemishes it claims. And also its expensive for the qty coz if you use it everyday, it might last just month or a week above.

Overall, I did like it but not very satisfied with the price tag and qty. And also oily skin needs to powder on top. I would say ‘can try’.

The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose EDT Review

The Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose EDT Review

What the Company claims: A daring and mysterious fragrance in a light eau de toilette, featuring an intoxicating blend of cruelty-free musk with sinuous notes of black smoky rose and tobacco flower.

Seductive floral-musk scent
Contains cruelty-free musk
Light eau de toilette

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 30ml & Rs.1695/- for 60ml

I have been using this from almost 3-4 months now. The White Musk Smoky Rose comes in both EDT and EDP form like other scents from The Body Shop. EDT is milder and lighter whereas EDP is a little more heavier in terms of scent/fragrance (more concentrated)

Top notes are bergamot, pink pepper and black currant; middle notes are tobacco blossom, black rose, orange blossom and immortelle; base notes are olibanum and white musk.

I quite like the cute pink packaging too. Its very small and handy to carry along anywhere.

I love white musk smell but it can be a little heavy at times. When blended with this floral and fruity notes, it balanced the white musk smell. ‘Smoky’ is what the tobacco flower in this gives a hint of.

Its neither too sweet nor too floral or fruity. Like everything is in perfect proportion. You have a hint of fruity, floral, manly white musk, smoky tobacco but all subtly balanced.

I quiet love this ! Its something unique and nice. Only issue is it does not stay long on me, max 3-4 hours. So lacks on the longevity and sillage department. I wish it stayed longer. Perhaps I would try the EDP next time.

Highly recommend this. If you are someone who does not like too floral or fruity fragrance and you like white musk, this is the perfect balance.

Directions: Apply a few drops in the palm of your hands and gently rub together to warm. Apply on the face and the neck with a gentle patting motion. Using fingertips, massage in small circular movements over forehead, cheeks, around mouth and chin area.

MRP: Rs.1695/- for 28ml

Ok so to start with, let me tell you, I loveee serums and oils…mostly use one every night, if at all, I am not trying out an overnight cream or something. (Which is rare these days..skin on a testing spree :/)

It comes in a small pink glass bottle with a dropper. The serum is transparent and clear..it feels like a very light oil. You just need 2-3 drops, blend in your hands and lightly apply over the face and neck.

It has a sweet fragrance..I am not too fond of perfumes and fragrance in my serums and oils unless it is a natural one like lavender essential oil. If you read the ingredients list above, you see many ingredients being used just for fragrance which I think could have been avoided.

Coming to the texture of it, it is so super light..sinks in the skin under a minute. No oiliness or greasiness. And the skin feels super soft and plump the next day. Vitamin E also helps in fading your acne marks, etc. If you have dry skin or dry patches, it will help you get rid of the patches within a week. Skin feels better and better every morning with regular use.

Pros:

1. Super light in texture.

2. Sinks in the skin and no oiliness or greasiness.

3. Skin feels super soft and plump the next morning…no dry patches.

4. Has a blend of oils in ingredients like wheatgerm, sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, sesame and Vitamin E and glycerin which are all amazing for the skin.

5. You just need 2-3 drops, so 28ml would last a long time.

6. It may be slightly expensive but when compared to other serums in that category, its half their price.

Cons:

1. Glass bottle not travel friendly.

2. I would have liked it without the added fragrance ingredients.

Overall, I would say its quite nice and perfect for dry to normal skin..works for my combination skin too. Oily skin should try it in winters. I love how skin is more softer and smoother with it, the next morning..and also gets the dose of some hydrating oils in a serum form which is quite light on the skin. Recommended!

I also love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, but that it priced at Rs.2750/- for 30ml. If I have to choose one, I would go with Kiehl’s coz I like it a little bit more 😀 But I would definitely suggest trying out this Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil and if you are getting it at 20-30% off on sales, surely grab it!

The Body Shop Bath Gloves Review and a Dupe

The Body Shop Bath Gloves Review and a Dupe
I think the Body Shop Bath Gloves are the best thing ever made…they are simply awesome. And I know all my fellow bloggers wouldnt agree more..I am in love with them..And  they are my HG for body exfoliation.

As I had said earlier about the benefits of exfoliation that it helps remoce the dead skin cells from the skin’s topmost layer i.e the epidermis so that the new cells formed can form up the topmost layer. What the Company claims : Best if you want to remove dead skin cells and increase the lather of your body wash with exfoliating mitts.

Source

How it works:
Textured mitts are elasticized to stretch to fit any size hands.
Available in a variety of colors. (White, Yellow,Orange,Green,Pink,Off White,Lavender, etc)
Particularly for use on dry skin that needs intense exfoliation on a regular basis
Elasticated and woven nylon material – provides intense exfoliation.
An elasticated wrist band on each glove – stops the gloves from slipping off the hands during use.
A loop on each glove – enables you to hang them in your bathroom for ease.

Recommended use: Use the gloves two to three times a week for maximum effect. Pour a small amount of body wash onto gloves and rub in circular motion over body. Rinse after use and hang to dry. Regular exfoliation and massage can help to tone and firm skin. For extra exfoliation, use with one of The Body Shop® scrubs.

Instructions :  Pour a small amount of body wash onto the gloves and rub over the body in circular movements. (You need to wet the gloves before pouring body wash on it.)

Price : Rs 245/- for a pair. (Increased to Rs.395 now)

Pros:

1. It is the best for exfoliation and no loofah can beat this.
2. Lathers all body washes well.
3. Easy to use.
4. Fits all sizes of hands coz of its elasticity
5. Shrinks back to its own size after drying.
6. Long lasting. I am using it from 6 months and they still have the same effect.I think you can change them after a year for hygiene purposes.
7. I have them in PINK..!!
8. I also use them lightly on my nose for exfoliation and it works fine but be gentle.
9. Leaves my skin super duper soft and smooth even with using it twice a week.
10.Lightened my dark elbows a bit.(I am habituated to keep elbows on the table from the start 🙁 )
11.Reduces bathing time to half as this hardly takes only 10 mins.

Cons:

1. They are a bit rough and abrasive at the start for 3-4 washes but then the texture is perfect and fine enough for exfoliation.

Overall rating- 5/5

Would I buy this again : Yes..forever..they are full value for money..!!

P.S : There is a similar product in the market called Fenny Bath Gloves and those are for Rs 110/-. I dunno about the quality but they look exactly similar. Check them at Suma’s blog here

Have you used these ? Do you like them or should I say love them ??

Update: These need to be changed after 7-8 months as they loose their elasticity later.
