Modern Women Experience Skin Ageing Faster ?

Modern Women Experience Skin Ageing Faster ?

A recent global study conducted on ageing skin proves that women today are ageing faster than the past generations. Indian dermatologist Dr. Nina Madnani, renowned Consultant in Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine talks about it here keeping the Indian women skin in picture.

Women today experience skin ageing faster than women in past generations!

Modern women today face a myriad of increasing stresses that not only have an impact on their health and overall well-being, but can take its toll on skin. From physical stress arising from less sleep, an increasing amount of sugar in our diets and rising pollution levels; to emotional and mental stress faced in everyday life; these stresses shift the optimal balance that enables us to look and feel our best.

Rising emotional stress

With the rise of globalization, increasing urbanization and economic pressures, comes an upsurge in stress levels. A recent study conducted by Olay reveals, Emotional stress from work, finance or relationships, have recently been found to have significant physiological effects on skin. The increasing amount of stress faced is so prevalent that an emerging specialty known as psychodermatology, which focuses on the psychological components of what causes skin to look poorly has arisen.

It was found that psychological stress can go as far as to weaken one’s skin barrier function allowing more irritants, allergens and infectious agents to penetrate the skin and cause problems, as well as shortens the molecular countdown mechanism in our cells and may explain how stress causes us to age more quickly.

According to Dr. Nina Madnani P&G Dermatologist says, “A modern day life with its multitude of stresses has a significant role to play in the rapid ageing of the skin. There is a presence of Properdin or factor P which is stress induced and often occurs during anxiety or a stressful situation. Properdin is known to play a role in tissue inflammation which can be caused due to rising levels of stress. Not many people are aware but your stress levels have a direct impact on your skin.

Early signs of aging such as dark circles, dull, blotchy skin with freckles or lentigenes, are evident as early as the late teens and early twenties. Hence skin care as a preventive measure should start in the 20s with products which contain Vit C, anti-inflammatory agents like niacinamide, sunscreens. Products such as Olay total effects include Vitaniacin which is a key ingredient that fights the changing skin needs. Products containing retinol, CoQ10, Alfa-hydroxy acids, etc can be added, followed by peptides, and introduction of procedures. It’s no use waking up in your 40 s and expecting products to work miracles after all the damage is done. Olay Total Effects simple to follow regimen is a one stop solution for women who are constantly on the go without being able to give any time to their skin.”

Changing lifestyles and increased physical stress

On top of mental and emotional stress, the impact of physical stress in the form of UV exposure, cigarette smoke, pollution and poor dietary choices have all long been proven to have a direct biological impact on our skin. And changing lifestyle trends are contributing to an increase in physical stress in modern society.

1. Less sleep

Firstly, the lack of sufficient sleep as a result of an ‘always-on’ culture can affect one’s appearance. A poll conducted in the US found that 95% of respondents use some type of electronics at least a few nights a week in the hour before bed. This ‘always-on’ culture that comes with the proliferation of digital screens in our daily lives has a tangible effect on our bodies: The light exposure has the effect of suppressing melatonin, the hormone which helps promote sleep.

This can result in people getting less sleep than they need. A study in the US found that sleep duration in adults adolescents had decreased by 1-2 hours per night. But how does this affect our appearance and skin? It’s intuitive that sleep deprivation affects our appearance. Studies have shown that sleep-deprived people are in fact perceived as less healthy and less attractive. Further research has revealed sleep deprivation can weaken the skin barrier and slow its ability to renew itself.

Dr. Nina Madnani adds perspective on the research, “Modern lifestyles have deprived women of sleep. The sleep patterns have been altered, further leading to hormonal imbalance. Your skin needs certain amount of sleep because sleep acts as a recovery phase from all the stress during the day. The “pores” on the skin are actually the openings of pilo-sebaceous follicles which self-cleanse. In order to de-stress the skin, there are specialized creams which work at different levels, and need to be in contact with the skin for several hours without being affected with sweating etc. hence at night when the application is done on a cleansed face, the cream serves to be more effective.”

2. More sugar

“A healthy intake of food definitely shows its effects on the skin, but today healthy food has been taken over by food with high glycemic index, genetic modification, and fraught with chemicals. Excessive intake of sugar gives a rise to the insulin in the body which is a direct cause for inflation on the skin,” says Dr. Madnani

Against this backdrop of increasing mental stress and decreasing sleep comes a third phenomenon: an increasing consumption of sugar due to the proliferation of processed foods and beverages. To understand what sugar does to our skin, we need look no further than coffee and the process of caramelization. Coffee beans start off fresh and green, but when heat is applied, they gradually turn brown and take on complex aromas. This is due to the small amounts of sugar present in the coffee beans are being transformed in a chemical process known as glycation.

Glycation also takes place in our skin, although in ways that do not require heat. As a result of the reaction between sugar and the proteins in our skin, Advanced Glycosylation End products (AGEs) are formed. The more sugar is present, the more AGEs are formed. Unlike the flavor enriching process that chefs strive to achieve with food, AGEs are largely unwelcome: They cause our skin to stiffen and even take on a yellowish hue. In other words, glycation is a significant cause of skin ageing.

3. Higher levels of pollution

It is well known that air pollution is a source of free radicals that damage our skin cells and ultimately age our skin. While reports suggest that air pollution in North America and Europe is either declining or leveling out, thanks to stringent government regulations on emissions, emissions in Asia have been climbing steeply, due to its rapid economic growth, and appear to have surpassed the levels in North America and Europe. This rise in air pollution is yet another worrying stressor that can cause signs of ageing to appear earlier than they should.

The quest for youthful skin in an increasingly stressful world

The relationship between stress and skin is clear and while both emotional and physical stress have plagued us since time memorial, increased stressors are not making it any easier to maintain young, healthy looking skin in the 21st century. These stresses can take its toll on women’s skin – by weakening skin’s renewal power, lose its elasticity, or take on an unflattering yellowish hue, ultimately causing it to age more quickly.

In an age where we are fighting an uphill battle for fair and youthful skin, the question that begs is, is your current skincare powerful enough to fight these extra stressors?

Pioneering research on skin aging in Indian women has brought to light new evidence that gives reason to rethink what skin aging looks like, and at what age it may appear. It was revealed that caring for your skin at an early age can make a significant difference in keeping the signs of aging at bay. According to Dr. Nina Madnani, women who took followed an effective skincare regimen at an early age to overcome the effects on the skin due to a hectic lifestyle have significantly less fine lines and wrinkles than women who overlooked their skin amid chaotic schedules. Hence early skincare helps to reduce the signs of aging.

To effectively address skin ageing concerns, women should be aware of not just fine lines and wrinkles, but all 7 signs of ageing which are:

1. Rough/uneven skin texture
2. Age/dark spots
3. Uneven skin tone
4. Sagging skin
5. Dry/dull skin
6. Increased pore size/Open Pores
7. Lines and Wrinkles

I am 26 and soon would be turning 27 in one and a half month. I think its better to start taking care of your skin and include an anti-ageing regime also in your skincare as soon as possible. These factors stated above are definitely more rampant these days, and were not much of an issue in the previous days. Women are surely ageing faster and I believe prevention is better than cure. In terms of ageing skin, there is no cure as such except for botox or those chemical treatments. I would be including Olay regime in my skincare soon.

Do you guys believe women age faster these days ? What do you do to prevent your skin from ageing ?

All Good Scents EDP Love & Joy,Evoke,Lolette Review

All Good Scents EDP Love & Joy,Evoke,Lolette Review

Hey guys,

Today I am reviewing perfumes again, after the recent Estée Lauder Modern Muse, now its time for these babies.

About All Good Scents: Much like musical notes make up a song fragrance notes are necessary to make a perfume. Overall, there are three note scales that when blended together create the perfume’s fragrant accord. All Good Scents has based its LOGO on this pertinent allegory of the perfume world- The Perfume Pyramid.

APPLICATION:

Top Notes: (Within 5 minutes) The initial whiff, the first few seconds of the perfume. The top notes of a fragrance are generally the lightest of all the notes. They are recognized immediately upon application of the perfume. Common fragrance top notes include citrus (lemon, orange zest, bergamot), light fruits (grapefruit, berries) and herbs (clary sage, lavender).

Heart Notes: (6 to 8 hours) The heart notes, make an appearance once the top notes evaporate. A perfume’s heart is often a smooth combination of floral or fruit tones. Common fragrance heart notes include geranium, rose, lemongrass, ylang ylang, lavender, neroli and jasmine.

Base Notes: (8+ hours) The base notes are the final fragrance notes that appear once the top & heart notes have evaporated. These often, rich notes linger on the skin for hours after the heart notes have dissipated. Common fragrance base notes include cedar wood, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, patchouli, oak moss and musk.

They have a separate range for men and women. And within men and women, they have a premium EDP Range and the Essentials Range for daily wear.

Today I am reviewing the Premium Range EDP for Women which are Love & Joy, Evoke and Lolette.

About the Premium Range: Exquisitely distilled fragrances from rare blossoms and exotic ingredients. Celebrating the spirit of the Venus in you.

Evoke For the Femme Fatale: Envelop yourself with this sensual fragrance and spice up your evening. Leave a lingering, passionate scent whenever you move. It’s intoxicating yet subtle, powerful yet delicate.

Evoke- passions he never knew existed.

Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Green Notes, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Jasmine, Lily Of The Valley, White Flowers
Base Notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Tonka Beans

MRP: Rs.1200/- for 50ml

Evoke has this squarish golden packaging but with slight curves 😉 Blackcurrant is the strongest among the top notes here when I smell it. Later on its the Lily from the Heart Notes and the faint whiff of vanilla in the Base Note. The top notes are a little heavy for me but I loved the Heart and Base Notes, so this perfume is something I would love after some time of application.

Lolette for the Naughty Lady: Revel in a sensual and dainty aura as you celebrate with this floral bouquet. Enjoy the mischievous sparkle that will follow you, leaving many yearning for more.

Lolette- Tease your naughty, with a spray of our nice.

Top Notes: Coconut, Plum, Apricot
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Pimento, Jasmine Sambac
Base Notes: Vanilla, Rose, Jacaranda Wood

MRP: Rs.1200/- for 50ml

I loved the royal bluish purple packaging to start with, and the bottle stands tall, unlike those short, round ones. Lolette too has stronger top notes, followed by the same floral heart notes and musky base notes. This again I loved after some time of application.

Love & Joy For the Free Spirit: Indulge yourself in a quaint symphony of flowers. For your blossoming youth and free spirit, celebrate ‘YOU’ with this elegant fragrance. Mixed with soft freshness, eternal youth, and the divine feminine that is YOU.

Love & Joy- celebrate life, celebrate ‘YOU’.

Top Notes: Freesia, Peony, Litchi
Heart Notes: Rose, Lily Of The Valley, Magnolia
Base Notes: White Musk, Amber, Powdery Notes

MRP: Rs.750/- for 30ml, Rs.1500/- for 75ml

I loved the bright yellow packaging with a butterfly on this. Though the top note has Litchi, this time its more floral and not too fruity. The rose and lily combo in the heart notes are just perfect. And my favourite White Musk and Amber in the base notes. This is my favourite out of the three! Absolutely loved this one. Totally my kinds.

Also, one thing I would like to mention here is, these perfumes stayed 11+ hours on me, which hardly any perfume does! I was amazed by the staying power and loved it.

You can buy these HERE. They also have Free Shipping all over India and one can get a free mini spray using the promo code ‘MINISPRAY’ which would be perfect for travel. Also they have a concept called ScentBox where one can try upto 3 tester samples. You can choose the testers yourself.

The Mumbai Bride Diaries: 1 Month to Go!

The Mumbai Bride Diaries: 1 Month to Go!

Hey guys,

Yes only one month left now, to be precise 29 days. I don’t know how and why is time flying 😮

It seems yesterday that 6 months were left or rather 4 months.

Updates:

  • We got the wedding invitation cards printed and have started with distribution.
  • I am yet to collect my wedding saree blouse from the designer Gaurang and my morning function saree blouse is yet to be stitched which is with another designer and she is taking ages :/
  • Have not found an evening gown/maxi dress yet for the DJ. I think I have 1-2 options in mind which I will share with you guys soon and you help me select one.
  • Got my chooda and bangles for both the morning function and the wedding.
  • Got a nice bangle box and other random stuff.
  • We would be shifting to a new place and have zeroed on a house, now would start the painful process of setting up the entire house and shifting the luggage and then settling everything up, which I guess, would go on even after I come back from the honeymoon
  • Coming to honeymoon, I have’nt started packing anything yet :/
  • My other 2-3 blouses are still pending to be given for stitching and a few other semi- stitched dresses are also in process (Diwali in between delayed everything)
  • I have started with the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, completed Day 7 of Level 2 today with 2-3 days breaks in between coz of some shopping or something or the other. I have also made some changes in my diet. (If yiu guys want more updates about the fitness and diet, do let me know. I would make a separate post on it)
  • My dupatta is still pending, I have to search one. One of my bhabhi is a makeup artist, so maybe she has 2-3 options which I am planning to check.
  • I have to buy a DSLR (zeroed on Nikon D5200)
  • I won’t be available almost the whole December, so also worried about the blog. I think I am over burdening myself.

I thought I would never stress myself, but actually as days are nearing and so much work pending, its more about have to do this and have to do that, rather than the excitement or nervousness which people are asking me about!

Actually my fiancee (H) got a new job, so this whole new house thing came up last minute in the previous month. We were searching for houses the last whole week. And setting up a whole new place is no joke, along with your wedding preps i.e. :/

I know things will work out well, and we are still on time and have 29 days. I just hope I get the strength and endurance physically and mentally to deal with the whole thing 😀

I think I can go on and on, and should stop now :p What’s up with you guys ?

Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain 040 Shanghai Sizzle Review, Swatches

Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain 040 Shanghai Sizzle Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain promise the shine of a gloss, moisture of a balm, long wear of a stain, and the opaque coverage of a lipstick. It is a glamorous gloss that contains Vitamin E and Aloe extract that pampers your lips, making it soft and smooth all day. It also gives a non-sticky feeling and easily glides on your lips to a creamy and glossy finish.

  • Drenches lips in glossy wet color
  • Ultra-light creamy lipstain with Vitamin E and Aloe
  • 88% of women felt lips were instantly moisturized without stickiness

Shades Available: 8

  • Parisian Passion
  • India Intrigue
  • Barcelona Nights
  • Shanghai Sizzle
  • Milan Moment
  • Miami Fever
  • Rio Rush
  • New York Scene

MRP: Rs.675/- for 8ml

To Start with, let me tell you these are not stains, I am not sure why they are named as stains :/ These are more like a pigmented liquid lip balm or a lip lacquer to be precise.

I like the rectangular packaging and the colors outside according to the shades like red or pink. Also the country names, loved them!

The applicator is slanted and small but perfect for application. Its very runny in texture as you can see here in the swatch, so be careful when applying. It gives a wet, glossy, opaque color. Its completely non sticky and very light weight.

I absolutely loved the pigmentation! These are like so pigmented, the most in the lip lacquer category I would say. These stay for around 3 hours without eating or drinking, but if you eat, it would vanish completely 😀 It does not leave any stain. But lips are moisturized and you do not feel the need of a lip balm even in these winters, when using this. They fade away gradually and evenly.

They do get on the teeth though, even after wiping off the excess with your finger in between lips, you would need to do it 2-3 times, since these tend to run on the lips :/ Maybe since its a deeper color.

Shanghai Sizzle is a true warm red, not very bright or in your face. A subtle, wearable orange red.

T- Heavy Swatch, B- Lightly Spread

Here is it on me..

Overall, I would say these are like nice pigmented lip gloss/lip lacquer. Would not call them a lip stain. These are pigmented and glossy, stay for around 3 hours and very very light on the lips. Lips remain moisturized too. At 675 bucks, these are slightly expensive but 8ml is a good quantity. I would love to try Parisian Passion and India Intrigue.

Mumbai Bride Diaries: Goa,Bachelorette Pics,OOTD

Mumbai Bride Diaries: Goa,Bachelorette Pics,OOTD

Hey guys,

Some of you who follow me on facebook, twitter or Instagram, must have seen few of my Goa pics. I did not upload all, coz I wanted to post them on the blog 😀 So, last month, I am and my friends went to Goa for the weekend. We had guys too, but then 3 of my girlfriends are out of India,so it was just me and two other friends..so we did not mind guys. The more the merrier.

Two days were a little hectic as both days,Friday and Sunday, we hardly slept for half an hour or so as it was early morning 5 am flight. We stayed at Santana Beach Resort in Candolim, Goa which is near to Kingfisher Villa. A very nice place and spacious, clean rooms with good breakfast options. And pretty economical too. Also has a private beach area.I would highly recommend this place, its all connecting to all the beaches. We hired a Mahindra Thar and were roaming around in a Thar! Super experience 😀

Since it was still raining then, water sports were shut. We enjoyed food, clubbing, etc though. On Saturday, we went to LPK- Waterfront and on Sunday, Mambo’s. (The weirdest and funniest crowd I have ever seen in a pub, we could’nt control laughing :D)

My outfit on Day 1..

I was made to the weirdest and most embarrassing tasks like dancing on road, randomly getting up and dancing in a restaurant, take a picture with strangers, take a guy’s autograph and what not.(Ahem!) There was a whole list, of which I successfully completed maximum 😀 I also got :ahem ahem: gifts from my girlfriends.

I was also made to wear a sash and floral tiara one whole day 😀 The sash of ‘Bride To Be’ from the time we landed at Goa.

Of course we had the desserts at Brittos all the time! :yumm: I did not like the vegetarian food at Brittos :/ Cafe Sussegado Souza is one place which I recommend for amazing cocktails, mocktails and yumm food. Infantaria for pastas and pizzas.

BlueBerry Cheese Cake and Chocolate Alpine Mousse at Brittos

We went to Aguda Fort just to while away some time in between.

(Above outfit shown HERE)

Some random clicks..

L’Oreal Professionnel Techni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo Review

L’Oreal Professionnel Techni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo Review

What the Company claims: Now refresh and cleanse your hair while you’re on the move! L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Fresh Dust Shampoo is the ideal dry shampoo for hair. The no residue shampoo mildly cleans your hair and scalp while the micro oils help absorb dirt and impurities from hair.

Micro Oils absorb dust and dirt particles to give fresher look to hair.
No residue formula gives your hair proper texture.
Gives a flexible hold to hair.

MRP: Rs.950/- for 150ml

Directions:

1) Shake before use.
2) Spray onto the roots and work in the product evenly.
3) To restore volume spray approximately 20 cm away from hair.
4) Brush your hair to remove any excess product.

So this is the first dry shampoo widely available in India! I had bought the Batiste one from Dubai and still have it. I had never found any in India before. I am glad we finally have a dry shampoo now.

It comes in a simple white can packaging with a cap. I like the fresh smell. We all have been through those bad hair days, 2 days since you washed hair, have to go somewhere but no time to wash hair. It takes me 30-40 minutes to wash my hair. So I have been there a lot of times! Coz I am always pressed for time and late.

Its perfect for 2+ days hair. Absorbs the oils well and hair looks less greasy and smells fresh. Gives some volume too.

But you definitely need to wash your hair the next day once you have used it the previous day. You cannot use it for 2 days continuously since it builds up and then hair looks weighed down.

Its more or less at par with Batiste Dry Shampoo. Dry Shampoos usually work only for a day or so when you are too pressed for time. But never give a washed hair effect. It can somewhat help you on a bad hair day though.

I don’t agree with cleanses your hair and absorbs dirt and impurities claim. No dry shampoo can do that.

Overall, I would say, a girl needs a dry shampoo in her kitty for those emergencies and ‘no time’ days. I won’t suggest using it regularly, it cannot replace your normal shampoo. And I am glad, India has an option now.

The quantity of 150ml is very good. You hardly need few sprays at a time. It would last long too, considering its not used that regularly.

Rating: 3.75/5

A New Concept in Fragrance

Composed of subtle contrasts and bold contradictions, Modern Muse reveals layers of strength and softness in an appealing creative tension. Its innovative “dual-impression” structure invites women to connect with the fragrance through two contrasting aspects:

Sparkling Jasmine Accord: This facet of the fragrance captures the creative energy and magnetic femininity of a modern woman. Exotic Mandarin and tempting Honeysuckle Nectar send a spark of energy through a youthful sensation of Dewy Petals. Two extractions of Jasmine Sambac, including one new to the perfumery palette, Jasmine Sambac China Absolute, bring luminous texture to the feminine bouquet of rich Tuberose Fleur and Fresh Lily.

Sleek Woods Accord: Her sleek style, strength and sensuality are expressed through this innovative blend of two Patchouli essences wrapped in the creaminess of Madagascar Vanilla, rich Amber Wood and soft Musk – all of which craft an undeniably sensual finish.

MRP: Rs. 7900/- for 100ml & Rs.5900/- for 50ml

To start with, I am in love with the packaging! How beautiful does that bow look!! There is no separate cap and you need to directly spray it. The complete soft pink and gold with a hint of black on the bow looks very classy.

Coming to the scent, I have always loved musky ones. Those warm vanilla, woody, musky kinds. Too floral or fruity is not my taste. When I first smelled this perfume, I was in complete awe of it.

Its the perfect blend of floral and woody. Not too woody and not too floral. It hits the right chord. If you are someone, who does not like too much floral, fruity scents but love the hint of it in between the woody, this is just perfect for you! Highly recommended.

How You Can #ShopQuikr on Quikr.com

How You Can #ShopQuikr on Quikr.com

Hey guys,

Most of you must have heard about Quikr.com obviously with the amount of ads coming in, now on TV too. Did you see the two new latest ones ? I like that red sofa :p

But how many of you have actually shopped on Quikr ? I had not untill yet, so I am glad I got this opportunity by Blogadda.

Read on to know more about Quikr and what all I got:

About Quikr: Quikr is India’s no.1 online classifieds platform, a place  where people can connect with each other to buy or sell goods and services. Launched in 2008 with the vision for buyers and sellers to “meet online, transact offline”, today we have over 4.2 million listings and have generated over 150 million replies.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Quikr operates from 940 cities across India and is accessed by more than 30 million unique users and 26 million brand new customers per month. We now have over 13 categories and 170 sub-categories, with the most popular being mobile phones and electronics, real estate, cars and bikes.

At Quikr, we have created an online community which is simple and secure. We are constantly innovating so that users can buy and sell in the easiest and most convenient way possible. We recognized that getting a fair price could be a hurdle for our customers, and we developed a Maximum Selling Price (MSP) calculator to help users estimate a reasonable price range. We also pioneered the Missed Call service in India, enabling first time or non internet users in India to give us a missed call so that we can help them post an ad. This way we aim to make people ‘Quikr’ users, perhaps even before they are internet users.

Our efforts are being recognized. In BAV® 2013 (a Brand Asset Valuator by Rediffusion-Y&R), Quikr was the only classifieds platform to be featured in the list of top ten ‘Best E-commerce Brands in India Amongst Youth’.

Quikr has also raised big money – US$ 60 million last month, from investors, which means better technology, more categories and super cool user experience in the days to come. :p

When you enter the site, at first you get a select city option and are taken to the sub domain of the city directly. You have a city wise classification and they have a sub domain for every city. For eg, for Mumbai it is mumbai.quikr.com. It is better to stick to your city while searching things, especially if they are heavy, coz transportation would be a pain

Then ‘Post Free Ad‘ option and to Buy or Find anything according to the categories mentioned. You can also create a free alert according to your requirement, category, city and locality and submit your email id and phone number, and you will get free alerts whenever someone posts about something that matches your requirement! Alerts are cool, saves you a lot of time in browsing and finding stuff yourself.

I had to buy a few kitchen appliances, and that’s where I went http://mumbai.quikr.com/Home-Kitchen-Appliances/w1037. All 4 items are from this category.

Saved Ads on the right side corner

I registered on the site, which also gave me an option of ‘Saved Ads‘, so that I did not have to go through everything again to find the thing I had liked and shortlisted.

I got this Orbit Handy Chopper and Shake N Go Juicer which are both new and from the same seller. I called them and they said they would deliver the product home, show a demo and then collect the money which was amazing 😀

A man came in 2-3 days with the products and showed the demo, it was all fine. And collected the cash of Rs.2200/- i.e. 1100 each.

I think the Handy Chopper is perfect for onions, garlic and ginger, and many other things of course. Perfect to use when you don’t want puree/mince but fine chopping. The Shake N Go is more of a blender or a smoothie maker. It blends milkshakes and smoothies amazingly well and comes with 2 blenders.

Then I found this brand new Boss All Time Mixer Grinder for Rs.1200/- but the only glitch was I had to go to collect it to Malad. But nonetheless, I am happy coz it was a good deal. Boss makes good kitchen appliances and I loved this mixer with three jar attachments.

And the final thing I purchased is a Eureka Forbes non electric Aqua Sure water filter whose ad the seller took down :/ This screenshot was I could see.

Cached page

Thankfully I got the image from the cached link. It was mentioned for Rs.2000 but when I asked the seller on phone, he said for Rs.1500/– and it’s not much used :p :Happy Dance: (fits under 5000 budget) He agreed to come to the nearby station where I live. Thank God for that :p It has two new extra filters too.

I am getting married and shifting to a new place and these things would be indeed very helpful for me. In fact, now that I have shopped for Quikr and have had a good experience, I am also buying 2-3 things more and saving on some bucks 😀

I compared the price of each of the above items online and this was a good deal in all ways, hence I went for this. There were 1-2 items I had shortlisted before and the seller agreed to send but later when I called to follow up, he denied saying he got a better deal and someone is paying more for it. I know it’s perfectly fine, but the sellers should stick to their words. Secondly the product price he mentioned, I was getting the same brand new product on Flipkart for a lesser amount and so I had quoted 100 bucks less than Flipkart and told him the same, to which he agreed.

Some buyer who must have not compared the price on Google paid a much higher price for the product. I did not like the part where some sellers only try and fool the buyers and sell them the product at a higher price than what is normally in the market.

I suggest Quikr add a comparison tab online under each product page where people can compare the same model or item’s price online and not get fooled. That would be very helpful for many.

Also, sometimes you see a helpline number on the side where they mention they would pick up the product and deliver to your place. I had called that helpline number and they said they charge Rs.30/- per km. which I found very high, and that this price should be mentioned on the site itself.

Other than that, I have had a good experience shopping on Quikr and getting 2-3 more things soon for my new home.

It’s a very good medium bringing the buyers and sellers together. Some sellers even negotiate the prices and some clearly mention no bargaining. So as a buyer, check the product, go for one with pictures, call and try to negotiate. Also find a suitable mid point where you can meet and collect the product if it is not huge.

As a seller, do not price the product higher than the market price. If it’s a used product, always count the depreciation factor. And always include good quality pictures. Helps a lot in selling the product faster.

Also, Quikr has an option of Premium Ads where they charge you some minimal fee per day and place your ad right on the top in the particular category which helps a lot. If as a seller you need to sell something urgently, I would say try the Premium service.

OOTD: Little White Dress, Polka Dots Blazer

OOTD: Little White Dress, Polka Dots Blazer

Hey everyone,

After Diwali and New Year and all the Indian wear, I am back with an OOTD again. I have so many Little Black Dresses (LBD’s) but a Little White Dress is also crucial in your wardrobe.

I went for a white bodycon Little White Dress (LWD) this time. It fits like a glove and of course I had to wear my shapewear underneath it (Sigh! Girl’s problems) But it looks quite elegant and chic with the gold chain detailing on the shoulders.

I skipped a statement necklace since it had the chain detailing and went for statement gold earrings instead. And finished it with gold and stone bracelet and rings from Silvette. I am absolutely loving them, these days <3

Finally my black suede block heels with gold ankle strap.

I also layered it with a polka dots denim blazer. This blazer is so multi-use,would work with many of my outfits from denims to dresses. Its warm, thick, fits perfectly, snugs correctly and looks amazing. What else would one want from a blazer ?! 😀 I love it!
