New Sunscreens- Lakme and Vichy

New Sunscreens- Lakme and Vichy

So with the advent of summers, we see new sunscreens launched in the market..Lakme and Vichy being two of them..
Lakme 9 to 5 Sunscreens
Lakmé, India’s iconic beauty brand, has introduced the new Lakmé 9to5 Super Sunscreen with SPF 50 to give you the right 9 to 5 look. Its sheer lightweight formula gets absorbed so easily that it can be worn alone, over a moisturizer or under your Lakmé 9to5 make-up. Lakmé is known to innovate continuously and add new products to its repertoire across cosmetics, salon services and skin care and the Lakmé 9to5 Super Sunscreen is yet another addition to this list. If you are looking for that gorgeous finish along with sun protection, then the Super Sunscreen is just what you need as it also serves as a makeup base.
Lakmé 9to5 Super Sunscreen is apt for women with very little or no time to layer their skin with multiple products. What makes this new Sunscreen from Lakmé “super” is the fact that it feels great on your skin and does not leave a white patchy appearance. For the first time, a sunscreen by India’s no 1 brand, Lakmé, is giving you dual benefits.
MRP: Rs. 500/- for 30ml each
The new Lakmé 9to5 Super Sunscreen comes in two variants:
·         Lakmé 9to5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen – for normal to dry skin
·         Lakmé 9to5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen – for oily skin
With UVA/UVB protection and SPF 50, claims to stay long..and for both skin types..this is quite interesting..
Vichy Capital Soleil Suncreens
Research suggests that both Ultra violet rays of the Sun, UVA and UVB are equally responsible for skin damage. Vichy Laboratories’ comprehensive solution to this growing predicament is the revolutionary Capital Soleil range, a sunscreen containing anti-oxidant minerals for balanced and double protection.

CAPITAL SOLEIL Micro Fluid Mat, High Protection for face SPF 50+ (Skin Type – Combination to Oily Skin)

As a result the skin looks shiny on the surface and feels dry within. Micro-fluid mat is a formula enriched with Sebostop, sebum absorbing micro-particules, in order to instantly mattify skin.
MRP – Rs 1350 for 40ml
CAPITAL SOLEIL SPRAY SPF 50+/UVA Ultra (Skin Type – Normal to Dry Skin)

MRP – Rs. 1790 for 200ml
UVA Rays can cause wrinkles, pigmentation disorders, sunspots, immediate darkening of the pre-formed melanin while UVB rays are a source of sunburns and tanning by stimulating melanocytes to produce melanin rapidly. It has also been found that pro-longed exposure to both of these rays can induce ageing and skin cancer. Health-conscious consumers hence demand a potently shielding Sunscreen for daily application. In such a scenario, a good Sunscreen like the Capital Soleil should fulfill the following factors:
Complete protection:  Thorough measure of the Protection factor against both UVB & UVA rays thus protecting the skin’s Health, Youth and Beauty.
High Safety: Should be Hypoallergenic, friendly with sensitive skin, Non-comedogenic
Texture: Should be easily absorbing and should suit different skin types
Resistance: Not influenced or affected by Water or Sweat
So, enjoy a bright and sunny day hesitant-free with Vichy’s Capital Soleil range and open the door to a smooth, soft and sun protected you with your favorite sunscreen this season.

Lakme Absolute Illusion Masterclass at LFW S/R 2014

Lakme Absolute Illusion Masterclass at LFW S/R 2014
NATASHA NISCHOL CONDUCTED THE LAKME ABSOLUTE ILLUSION MAKEUP MASTER CLASS AT LAKME FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2014
I attended Lakme Fashion Week on Saturday..i.e the 15th..if you follow me on facebook or Instagram, you would have seen the pics..
So anyways, there was this Lakme Absolute Masterclass too..remember last year’s Masterclass..see HERE.
Lakme a trendsetter for decades has created several outstanding looks each season. An informative makeup masterclass was conducted by Lakme Makeup Expert, Natasha Nischol at the Jabong Stage on day four during Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014.
Purnima Lamba, Head Innovation at Lakme, introduced Natasha Nischol on stage and invited her to demonstrate the second edition of Lakme Absolute Master Class themed around Lakme’s latest offering the Lakme Absolute Illusion range. Natasha revealed how to achieve the Lakme Absolute Illusion Metallic Look that is all set to be the beauty trend of the season.
VJ Sarah Jane Dias, Lakme Digital Ambassador was the model for the session. During this one hour session, Natasha Nischol demonstrated the Absolute Illusion Day and Night looks on Sarah Jane Dias.
Lakme Absolute Illusion – Day to Night
For the Lakme Absolute Illusion by Day look, a base of Lakme Youth Infinity Moisturizer, Foundation and Concealer was applied to Sarah’s face prior to the show. Sarah’s hair was also prepped up according to the 70’s vibe – big and curly. A bronzer from the Lakme Absolute Face Stylist range was used for the cheekbones, followed by blending the eyes with the Lakme Absolute Illusion Pearl Eyeshadow, which Natasha insisted could be used in light or heavy portions. A streak of black eyeliner was applied to infuse the colour of the shimmery eye shadow, to give it an electric feel. Dots of electric violet and blue from the Lakme Absolute Eye Shadow Duos were added on top of the eyeliner and to the inner corner of the eye, adding dimension.

Sarah’s eyelashes were curled using the Lakme Absolute Voluminizing Mascara. Sarah confessed that she loved flaunting fake eyelashes, which she found very dramatic.
Natasha finished this Absolute Illusion day look by dabbing the lips in a matte orange lipstick (I guess it was Vermillion) from the Lakme 9to5 range. Sarah walked down the ramp flaunting her bold avatar, swaying to the Bee Gees. Natasha mentioned that ‘Saffron Gossip’ from the same range is a lighter hue of orange lipstick that is safe to play with.
Sarah expressed that she faced a problem with metallic eye shadow fading off an hour after applying it. Natasha explained that the secret to long lasting makeup is to layer and blend in eye shadow with cream and powder so that it sets through the day. Natasha suggested that women should go all out and experiment with purple, blue and aquamarine that look gorgeous on Indian women.

The Lakme Absolute Illusion by Night was achieved by adding touch-ups to the day look and blending in purple Lakme Absolute Drama Stylist Crayon Eyeshadow followed by building in the intensity of the eye shadow with a slightly darken tone. Another line of eyeliner which smudged easily into the purple canvas brought a little sparkle in a pink glitter shadow over the inner corner of the eyes. Sarah’s lips were dabbed in a soft coral called ‘Rust Crush’. The look was completed by applying a coat of mascara and brushing the face with some glitter over the cheekbones in a decent amount of bronze blush – Lakme Absolute Blush, Night Sheen.
Natasha mentioned that all girls love their glitter and one can never have too much of it. Sarah Jane revealed the secret of big hairdos by simply making multiple tiny braids on wet hair and leaving it overnight, untie each braid, a dab of mousse for the 70’s look.
Natasha Nischol graduated from the prestigious London College of Fashion, worked in London and Hong Kong. Trained with Oscar winning make-up artist Jenny Shircore in the UK, she assisted him on The Phantom of the Opera and Four Feathers.  Natasha runs India’s paramount make-up academy – fat mu makeup school, along with her partner Virginia Holmes.

  • POW4

Maybelline came up with these pretty pink lipsticks called Pink Alert just before Valentine’s Day..and these were so perfectly launched for the apt day.

They come in pretty pink packaging..the packaging is the same as the Maybelline Colorsensational range..but prettier and pinker.

They are creamy and quite pigmented..and stay on for 4-5 hours..even after drinking and eating proper dinner..the color had just faded a little..I am quite impressed by the staying power.

POW1 is a blue based neon pink..a super bright pink..that does not even show the true color in picture..but looks amazing in person..MAC Pink Pigeon dupe..but do not wear this shade when flash is going to be used..I did the mistake..it makes you look ghastly with flash.

Here it is on moi..

Pros:

1. The Packaging is pretty.
2. They are very creamy and glide on well.
3. Nicely pigmented and stays on better than other creamy lipsticks…they stay for around 4-5 hours and do not fade completely.
4. Amazing pinks..I actually loved all 4 pinks ! This one is for pink lovers..
5. Economical.

Cons:
1. Pow1 looks ghastly with flash.
2. Looks blotchy when layered quiet a few times..you need to remove the previous first and reapply for touch ups.

Overall, this range has great pinks..and there is one for everyone..there is a neon pink, coral pink, fuchsia pink..you will find your favorite pink or pinks 😉 I am going to buy POW2 next..I love that one too..Highly Recommended !

Oriflame Beauty Studio Artist Gel Liner Review, Swatches

Oriflame Beauty Studio Artist Gel Liner Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: Oriflame Beauty Studio Artist Gel Eyeliner gives the precision line of liquid eyeliner for professional and smudge-free results.  The smooth texture of the gel eye liner delivers rich color and even coverage and ensures long-lasting luring eyes for up to 24 hours. It comes with a slanted brush applicator that gives smooth and flawless effects.

MRP: Rs.449/- for 3g

It comes in a small glass pot and a small slanted brush alongwith..

Its rich and deep..and matte black..good pigmentation..can be easily layered..I quite like it for tighlining..gives precise definition..

Texture wise, it is quite soft but not that smooth..I like the fact that the small brush can be used for travel and no need to carry a separate brush..but for regular use,I wish it came with a longer brush too,as holding that small brush and lining is sometimes difficult.

It stays on for 8 hours plus on my upper lashline with minimal fading. But it sets quickly and layering over it does not go smooth.

Pros:

1. Rich black

2. Very creamy.
3. Glides on well..no tugging or pulling.
4. Small travel friendly brush.
5. Stays put quiet long.
6. Its often available at a discount..and the qty is more than other gel liners..like Maybelline and L’oreal..so quite economical.

Cons:

1. I wish there was a longer brush too along.

2. Available only through reps.

Overall, I would say its a nice rich black, matte gel liner..and buttery in texture..comes with a nice travel friendly brush too..if you love gel liners, you should definitely try this.

Godrej Expert Rich Crème Hair Colour Review

Godrej Expert Rich Crème Hair Colour Review

Ok so I am not into coloring my hair as of yet..don’t worry..I have not got the greys yet. When I got the chance to review the Godrej Expert Hair Color, I thought of trying this on my mom..and thats what I did.

About Godrej Expert Rich Crème Hair Colour: It comes in a Sachet form with the creme and developer sachets separately..The sachet costs Rs.30/-

  • It has Aloe Protein
  • comes in pre-measured sachets, that makes it easy to use
  • no ammonia formula helps retain hair protein
  • keeps hair strong
  • 100% grey coverage

Ingredients:

Warning: Please do a patch test first before using. Some people might be allergic to some ingredients.

You may need:
  • Colourant and Developer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Brush
  • Gloves
  • Ear Caps
  • Stain Removal Wipe
  • Conditioner

Godrej Expert Rich Crème Hair Color comes in 5 shades: Natural Black, Black Brown, Dark Brown, Natural Brown and Burgundy

Directions to use:

I got all 5 shades..Natural Brown was what worked best for my mom.

Mixed the Creme and Developer in the mixing bowl..and used the brush to mix well. And applied it all over the hair and in the sections with the brush and using the hands through gloves..

L: Crème and Develeoper R: Mixed
Mom kept it for 30 minutes and washed it off with water and used the conditioner at the end as mentioned.

Since mom had already coloured her hair previously and keeps doing it, you won’t see complete whites but brown here and there..the colour was uneven..and in the after pic..as you see, the colour is more even..and looks great….hair is softer and gives a nice shine.

There was no ammonia smell since its ammonia free.Like any other hair colourant in the market, Rich Crème also requires a patch test.

Also the quantity felt short for evenly using throughout..a woman’s hair easily needs 2 packets of these..one can be used only for touch ups, etc..

Overall, its quiet easy to use…and the whole process takes hardly around 45 minutes..I liked the effects too..

Would update you guys on how the colour fared and stayed.

Have you or your mom tried Godrej Expert Crème Hair Colour ? Your views ?

P.S: PR Sample. Honest Review.

The Secret Unveiled: Love Long Hair Range is

The Secret Unveiled: Love Long Hair Range is

So finally the secret is revealed..if you don’t know what I am talking about..I had taken a blind test for a shampoo and conditioner which was called the Love Long Hair Range..See HERE and the update and review HERE and HERE.

So now this range has finally been revealed..and its the all new revived Garnier Fructis Long and Strong Range..

New & Improved Garnier Fructis Long & Strong Strengthening Shampoo (Anti Breakage, Anti Split ends) and New & Improved Garnier Fructis Long & Strong Strengthening Conditioner ( 12x stronger hair ).

I really liked the shampoo and do recommend it.

What do you think of this all new improved Garnier Fructis Range ?

Love Long Hair Range Review

Love Long Hair Range Review

Remember the mystery shampoo and conditioner (HERE) and the update I did. (HERE)
So I am finally reviewing this range today..
After 2-3 more uses, here is what I feel about it..
As I mentioned in the previous post, bot the shampoo and conditioner are white in color and smell fresh..the normal shampoo smell.
The shampoo foams and cleanses well..and removes all traces of oil too in two washes. Hair feels cleaned..and there are less knots and tangles..

Conditioner is not too thick but spreads well..there is no slimy conditioner feeling and it washes off completely..though the hair is free from knots..hair does not feel moisturised..and a little dry.

Both leave the hair great smelling..and hair is straighter and frizz free..only there is no volume or bounce..and conditioner could have been more creamy and moisturising..
I like this shampoo for days when I need straighter, sleeker, longer hair..not a fan of the conditioner though.
The reveal happens tom..are you excited to know which brand it is ??

Kaya AntOx Vit-C Formula Serum Review

Kaya AntOx Vit-C Formula Serum Review

What the Company claims: It is a non-oily, easily absorbing anti-oxidants gel based on Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to counteract free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing, protect the skin against environmental assault and delay the appearance of dark spot, fine lines and wrinkles and gives you softer, smoother skin.

How to use: It is a non-oily, easily absorbing anti-oxidants gel based on Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to counteract free radicals responsible for premature skin ageing, protect the skin against environmental assault and delay the appearance of dark spot, fine lines and wrinkles and gives you softer, smoother skin.

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Cellulose Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

MRP: Rs.1790/- for 30ml

It comes in a small glass bottle pump packaging with a cap to cover that shuts perfectly tight..and had a seal at the start..for authenticity.

Its a transparent watery gel in texture..not too runny..and does’nt give any strong Vitamin C smell which is normally found in Vit C products..also it blends in well and is quiet light weight and non greasy.

But it does not moisturise and definitely need a separate moisturiser. And also what I noticed is, it sits on the face like a layer and does not get absorbed..and when you wash your face, you notice the slippery layer going away.

As far as the effect goes, I saw minor reduction and fading in 2-3 spots after continued usage. And cannot comment on lines or wrinkles coz I don’t have them. But there is not brightening as such.

Actually, Vitamin C serums have never worked that great on my skin..had the same experience with Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Concentrate..it did not do anything much for me..Instead Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate worked better for me..and skin was brighter and glowing whenever I used that..same with this..the Kaya Brightening Serum which I reviewed HERE worked great for me than this.

So, I would recommend this to people on whom Vitamin C works or may be try it out at the clinic first. For me, if I had to choose one, I would go with the Kaya Brightening Serum.

Pros:

1. Non greasy.
2. Light in texture.
3. Easy to use day or night.
4. Good pump packaging.
5. Continued usage helps in fading spots..and might help in wrinkles and lines too.

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Sits like a layer on the face.
3. Results were pretty ok.

Overall I would say its a nice serum and more suitable for people searching an anti-aging serum but who do not need an anti aging one..should go for the Brightening one.
