OOTD: Royal Blue Pleated Trousers

OOTD: Royal Blue Pleated Trousers/Friday Work Wear

Hey, I am back with an OOTD..after a long time no..

Inverted Box Pleated Trousers are quite in these days..and look quite chic and smart..colored pleated trousers are something you can wear to work too..and can pair them with casual tops for Friday work wear..

Whenever we wear bright colored bottoms..be it denims or trousers, we keep the tops neutral..its just the opposite of how we pair with our neutral blue, black denims..so you can imagine the opposite when pairing..

I paired this with a neutral grey top..I am so loving this..that I am wearing this a lot these days..wore this to the recent Colorbar Bloggers Meet too.

And a neutral brown bag from thboxes.com..yes this is the famous Zara brown bag dupe which costs a bomb at 7k ! And this is for $20 ! Comes in 3 colors..red, black and brown..Must have !!

Sterling silver twig shaped ring is from Colby June on etsy..she has such interesting designs..and customised sizes…love the designs on her shop.

Trousers are from iknowstudio.com. Did you check it out ? The designer duo have great stuff…solid colors and clean cuts and silhouettes. I surely recommend them !

Get Straight Hair with Sunsilk Perfect Straight Range

Get Straight Hair with Sunsilk Perfect Straight Range

Straight Hair with a shampoo and conditioner ?! Is it really possible ??

Well, read on to know if it is..

What the Company claims: There is a magic moment between wet & dry hair when your hair looks perfectly straight and beautifully aligned. But as it dries, it starts to puff up and lose shape. Sunsilk expert Yuko Yamashita has co-created Sunsilk Perfect Straight, the ideal shampoo for straight hair every day. Its breakthrough Straight-Lock technology to actively control and hold every strand perfectly aligned as it dries. It penetrates deep within the hair fibre, reducing frizz and straightening strands, keeping them fully aligned as they dry*. Experience unbeatably straight hair that is shiny, smooth and gorgeous, right from the shower.

Straight baal lock karo, rock karo!

*When used with Sunsilk Perfect Straight Conditioner.

Shampoo MRP: Rs.110/- for 180ml and Rs. 56/- for 90ml
Conditioner MRP: Rs.64/- for 90ml

I like the purple color of the bottles…and easy to use flip cap packaging..it flips tight well..and would not spill.

Shampoo claims and ingredients:

Its a light pink colored runny shampoo..with candy sweet smell..it lathers well..and cleanses well too.

Conditioner claims and ingredients:

Its a white colored conditioner with the same sweet smell..not too thick..and easy to use..

After using both..my hair was quite straight just after washing..then after drying..it gained some natural volume and slight waves..but it was straighter, sleeker and frizz free than it normally is. This sure works !

Hair after drying

Pros:

1. Shampoo lathers and cleanses well.
2. Smells nice..
3. Economical.
4. Easy to carry around and travel with.
5. Available everywhere.
6. Leaves hair straighter and sleeker as claimed.
7. Hair is completely frizz free.
8. Gives a nice sheen to the hair.

Cons:

1. Has SLS.

Overall I would say its a must try..if you like straighter hair..and either don’t want to use irons or don’t have the time for it..this would not give you 100% straight hair as with a straightening iron..but reasonable straight, well managed and frizz free hair for sure..

The Four Fountains Spa has helped over 72,000 guests discover the secret to living stress-free through regular spa therapies. We welcome you to our family.

I was invited to the Powai branch of the Four Fountains Spa..as that is convenient for me too. Upon arriving..you can feel the whole relaxed and aromatic environment..they check your appointment and take your details and also make you sign a disclaimer..well thats their job..

They take a stress test..and then suggest you therapies according to your stress level..I was in the high stress category and my shoulder area has always been a pain..so I was suggested head, neck, shoulder massage..but I was somehow keen on the body wrap..and did not wish to go for the head massage..I have previously always got massages and mud body wraps done and liked them..so I selected the Bastar Mitti Body Wrap.

About the wrap: Every body wrap begins with a body polish. After the body polish a mask is applied over the body. The mask is usually made of mud, clay and other natural substances that help rid the body of toxins through metabolic stimulation. After the mask is applied a sheet is snugly wrapped around the body, creating a kind of thermal blanket that promotes sweating and aids in the emptying of unnecessary interstitial fluid, or the fluid located between the small spaces of body tissues. Body wraps improve the texture and appearance of skin by removing excess fluid and toxins from the body. They firm loose skin, treat the unsightly appearance of cellulite, soften the skin and give a boost to the lymphatic system and metabolism.

Bastar Mitti Body Wrap begins with a Jasmine Body Polish. It is followed by application of a Bastar Mitti mask, specially sourced from the Bastar region in Central India, which balances the skin’s oiliness and helps lighten the skin.

Bastar Mitti is a type of soil found in the Bastar region of Chattisgarh. The soil is said to have excellent lightening and healing properties.

The prices vary according to the location..at the Powai branch it is Rs.1899/- on weekdays and Rs.2099/- on weekends..

It includes the Jasmine body polish too..which separately costs Rs.1349/- on weekdays and Rs.1549/- on weekends..well I would obviously suggest anyone to go for the wrap..coz with just 550 extra you can get the body wrap done too..

Jasmine Body polish is a spa therapy that uses a blend of oils with fine grains of salt to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation through body polishes helps to reduce build up of dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth. It is followed by the application of emollient lotions to soften skin.

Jasmine Body Polish uses a blend of Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang essential oils and Dead Sea salt to exfoliate the skin. It balances the skin’s oiliness, helps control acne and blemishes and at the same time softens and smoothes the skin.

Jasmine essential oil is also widely used for Aromatherapy since it acts as an anti-depressant.

I had a masseuse named Anjana who guided me through the session..there was a small room with dim lighting and soft music..and a massage table and an attached bathroom. The towels, pillow and disposable UGs were arranged on it..

The session lasts for an hour..with 30 mins of the Jasmine Body Polish followed by 30 mins of Body wrap..with bathing after each..the body polish was indeed good…I could feel the exfoliation and blood circulation on the skin..and the smell of jasmine and ylang ylang oil..and as the shoulders were my pain area..Anjana was told to concentrate on the shoulders.

Later after bath..the body wrap followed..and after the application the body was wrapped in a plastic sheet with a towel above..it was to be kept on for 20 mins…Anjana kept cotton soaked in rose water on my eyes..and the body felt warm and cozy.. I dozed off those 20 mins..felt super relaxed.

After the bath..I felt super light and amazing..skin was as soft as a baby’s bum..and they offered green tea at the end..For me, it was quite a good experience..and I like the fact that they are reasonably priced for a spa..and they have some membership cards too..where you get happy hours on weekdays..and its a prepaid card..and you get double the amount of services..and its valid all over India and can be used by anyone.

Things I think could be improved on are..all the rooms were quite close to the reception area..and the noises in between don’t allow you the desired peace..but I agree that space is an issue in Mumbai..may be sound proof doors could be an option..secondly there should be white lights too in the room..so that changing and all before and after gets easier..and the flash in my cam showed the dirty walls in the room..cleaner walls may be..

Overall the spa experience was great and the masseuse was good enough..and the jasmine body polish and bastar mitti body wrap indeed made my skin super soft..I cannot stop touching it 😀

Read more about them and book your appointment on their site http://www.thefourfountainsspa.in

P.S: Services were offered free of charge but that has not affected my opinion.

It would be available on the Sleek website from 10th April,2013.

MRP: £7.99

When I first saw the names of the shadows, I was kinda surprised..what they have done is..they took one shade from each of their 12 permanent i- Divine palettes..and named them after the palette..

So we have Storm, Paraguaya, Oh So Special, Bad Girl, etc..

Its a standard Sleek MakeUP Palette black packaging..with 12 shadows of 1.1g each and a mirror and a double sided sponge applicator..

Shadows are a mix of matte and satin finish..matte ones being not as pigmented as the satin ones..but the shades sure are amazing..stay on well..and blend smoothly too..

Paraguaya is a matte nude peach..hardly visible..good for blending
Sunset is satin finish burgundy
Me, Myself & Eye is a frost finish white..works great as a highlighter
Bad Girl is satin finish olive green..love this shade..
Noir is satiny bluish grey
Ultramattes V2 is a matte deep black.

Oh So Special is a matte grey..not too pigmented
Bohemian is a matte coral..makes a good blush
Storm is a matte navy blue
Sparkle is frost pink..again a highlighter
Au Natural is a matte deep plum with silver shimmer..its Festive from Sparkle 2 Palette
Graphite is satin finish light milky brown

Overall quite a nice mix of colors..and mix of matte and satin shades..good highlighters and a pretty dark matte black..matte blending shades..and a nice olive green, grey, burgundy, plum and brown..shades which are quite wearable..

Personally for me..I love wearing plums, browns, greys and burgundy, olive greens for weddings, etc..plus a matte black and two highlighters just completes the palette..I am loving every new palette of Sleek MakeUP..but there are a few which are quite suited for our warm skin tones..and quite wearable..this is one of those..I am loving it as much as my Sparkle 2 and Oh So Special 🙂

These are online exclusive and do check online at www.sleekmakeup.com

Launch: April 10th 2013

Almond oil For Face

Almond oil For Face

Guest Post

The significance of the skin cannot be under estimated as the skin is the major organ of our body. Most of them go behind the skin care products which are pretty useless. If you are one of them, take time to read this article which may help you to get healthy skin naturally.

Almond oil, a type of nut oil is extracted from Almonds. There are numerous health and beauty benefits of this oil. Read on to find out the top secrets of Almond oil for face.

There are two different almond oils, the first one is the Bitter Almond oil which is the essential oil for perfumes and cannot be used over skin. And the other is the sweet almond oil which often used as the carrier oil smells soft and nutty and is safe for skin. So, the best decision would be verifying the Almond oil before using over the skin.

Best skin moisturizer

Almond oil is not just for cooking. It contains essential fatty acids and hence it is used a moisturizer. It easily penetrates the skin and makes it delicate and soft. As it contains fatty acid, it minimizes the loss of moisture and makes the skin look young and healthy.

Good skin toner

As it has the property of soothing the skin, it improves both complexion and skin tone. It helps to give a healthy glow when applied directly over the face. It also reduces the scar formation after surgery.

Acne prevention

The acne is produced due to the over production of keratin and sebum which makes the pores to get clogged and infected. The fatty acid present in almond oil deposit the fat over the pores and repair the damaged skin and hence this oil is considered as the natural treatment for acne.

Prevents wrinkles and eye problems

The regular and proper application of the oil over the face may helps to prevent the earlier wrinkles and make you to look youthful. If the oil applied with raw honey habitually at night, the eye puffiness and dark circles will be reduced.

Procedure for applying oil

Till now, you would have known the skin benefits of almond oil. Do you know how to apply it over the face? Read ahead to know how to use it.

Before applying it over the face, wash your face and follow up normal cleansing routine. Then apply a couple of drops over each side of the face. Wet your hands with warm water and gently massage it all over your face. Allow your face to dry to let the almond oil settle.

Remember, Almond oil is least greasy oil and soaks in to your skin quickly leaving slight residue. But don’t apply too much which will make your face feel swimming in oil.

EXPERT TIPS:

MRP: Rs. 600/- for g

Shades Available: 10

Honey, Crush, Darling, Cherish, Lovesick, Sweetheart, Smitten, Rendezvous, Romantic, and Adore.

What makes this product so interesting is that it’s not only a pampering lip balm but it works as a lightweight lip stain too! That said, this product leaves you with softer and smoother lips with color that lasts for hours. This handy product comes in a chubby crayon form that retracts to avoid all messy smudges inside your bag.

Thats the whole qty

It a chubby retractable crayon stick with a sturdy cap..all crayons are of the color of their shades. The packaging is quite similar to the Clinique Chubby Sticks..but these are more of a stain..and the Clinique ones are more like tinted balms.

Honey, Lovesick, Romantic

These have a minty smell..and feel cooling on application too..are moisturising and glossy at the start..but settle to a stain in around an hour..and the stain lasts for 5-6 hours ! I do think you should top it up with a gloss or lip balm time and again if you suffer from dry or chapped lips..coz otherwise it did look terrible.

Honey is an amazing pink brown..an MLBB shade for me..this can be worn everyday everywhere..to your office, market, just about anywhere..

Lovesick is a gorgeous fuchsia pink..ahh I am into the fuchsia mode you know 😉

Romantic is a warm orange red

I love how light they feel on the lips and can be worn sheer or builded up…but the only issue is the stain fades unevenly especially the darker colors.

Here are the swatches..

L-R: Romantic, Lovesick, Honey

I am sorry for the Romantic lip swatch..its difficult to remove the stain..and use another..and removing the stain made lips quite dry too 🙁

Pros:

1. Feels light.
2. Darker colors are quite pigmented..the stain stays for 3-4 hours.
3. Very pretty universal shades in the collection.
4. Colors of packaging as per shades..so easy to identify.
5. Feels glossy and moisturising at the start and settles to a semi matte stain later..
6. Do not bleed.

Cons:

1. Darker colors fade unevenly.
2. One needs a lip balm underneath..and also over the stain after a few hours..coz it tends to feel dry.
3. Not travel friendly..it messes in a bag..inside its cap :/

Overall I quite love these stains..glossy and moisturising..and the shades offered..these are quite handy and low maintainance..Honey is a shade which can be used everyday too..and Lovesick is a very pretty fuchsia..Surely recommend these.

Rating:

Quality: 3.75/5

Would I buy it again: Yes..and I like Smitten and Rendezvous too.

Finally, you could also apply a little Kajal and Lip Balm for a great natural look.

Available in 2 shades:

1.Radiance (Fair)

2. Fawn (Medium)

Maybelline BB Stick comes in a swivel twist up packaging with a plastic cap..comes in 2 shades..Radiance for fairer skin tones and Fawn for medium to dark..Fawn is a little darker and yellower for me..Fawn would suit skin tones NC 40 and above..I have not checked out Radiance..so I am not sure how light it is..but I heard its ashy and does not have yellow undertones.

Thats the whole qty

It needs to be swiped around all over the face in 2-3 strokes..nose, forehead, area around the mouth, cheeks, jawline and neck..and blended using fingers in outward direction..either you can use it directly from the stick..or if you have acne prone skin or tend to share makeup, take it on your clean fingers and apply and blend away.

The first time I used this..I did not like it much..2nd day I liked it..3rd day I liked it even more..actually the longer time you wear this you will love it more..coz it keeps the skin matte and shine free..and gives a nice glowy effect and cuts the dullness from the face…plus gives decent coverage..and looks better after a few hours.

It gives medium coverage and covers redness, dark circles, etc well..but acne scars would need concealer above it..keeps the skin matte..mine is combination and I did not feel the need to use a powder or even touch up..coz skin looked the same and shine free..

It has SPF21 and Salicylic acid..so sun protection plus good for acne prone skin..it is so easy to carry anywhere..and use just with your fingers..

Here is it..unblended and blended..

Pros:

1. Gives medium coverage.
2. Easy to use and carry along.
3. Blends easily with fingers..and effortless to use anywhere.
4. Has SPF 21 PA+++
5. Keeps skin shine and oil free for 5-6 hours.
6. Stays all day long..and looks better by the end of the day.
7. Gives a nice glow to the skin and cuts out dullness from the face.
8. Salicylic acid helps heal acne..so good for acne prone skin too.
9. Reduces the appearance of pores.
10. Cost effective at Rs.250/- and 10g is a good qty too..this would last long..unlike the very less qty of the BB cream.

Cons:

1. Accentuates dry patches..dry skin would need a very heavy moisturiser before using this..
2. Radiance is light and Fawn is dark..most of us fall in between..there should have been minimum 4 shades launched in this.

Overall I quite liked this..I only need to use a good moisturiser underneath it..and I would have loved it more, if I had a shade that would have matched correctly..but nonetheless..it does blend in like second skin..but just a little yellower and darker.

I surely recommend this..if you around NC 40-42..this would quite suit you..and if you oily skinned..grab this now..
