Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint is a new launch by Liz Earle and their first step into makeup after skin care. I told you about their new launch here.

It surprisingly looks like any other normal foundation..medium consistency but a little thick in texture compared to a tinted moisturiser. It gives light to medium coverage depending on the qty used. I guess the thicker texture is due to the oils present in it..but that would make this perfect for people with dry skin.

It has a blue tube packaging (which is patented ) with a narrow opening just for the right amount of product. The shade 02 Beige at first looked a little lighter for me..but when blended it looked fine. It does not have too much of yellow or pink undertones..its kinda neutral.

Pros:

1. It gives a nice dewy finish to the skin.
2. Has borage oil, avocado oil and Vitamin E.
3. Gives light to medium coverage depending on how much and how you use it.
4. It would be perfect for people with dry skin and who like a dewy finish.
5. The tube is quite handy and easy to carry along.
6. Has SPF 15.
7. Even though its rich and creamy, it does not feel too heavy.

Cons:

1. It has a little weird smell, mostly of the borage and avocado oils which does go away after a while.
2. Oily skinned would surely need to set it with a powder and it would not give you a matte effect..the shine would come back sooner.
3. Only 3 shades to choose from and there is no shade for the duskier lot.
4. Expensive for a tinted moisturiser.
5. Availability is an issue. It can only be purchased online.

Overall I did like it..but I think its better used in winters..and not in humid or hot climate. Its perfect for the dry skinned ladies ! But if you need more coverage you can skip this.

Rating:

Quality: 3.5/5
Value for money: 3.5/5
Availability: 3/5

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Would I buy it again: Umm…I guess no..Its a little too rich and creamy for me as I have a combination skin.

P.S: Product sent by brand for review but it has not affected my opinion.

My Experience with Saks Hair and Beauty

My Experience with Saks Hair and Beauty

About Saks: Saks Hair & Beauty is the UK’s leading high street salon group, with salons throughout the British Isles. Saks has its own brand of professional styling tools, named Saksessories and these, plus Saks gift vouchers are available in salons nationwide.

Saks has won numerous awards for excellence, including the:

Pantene Pro V Best Salon of the Year
British Beauty Customer Care Awards for three consecutive years
British Beauty Marketing Strategy Awards for three consecutive years
British Beauty Salon of the Year
British Beauty Therapist of the Year
British Electrologist of the Year
British Northwest Hairdresser of the Year
British Franchisee of the Year
Midland Bank Franchise Award

At Saks they only use premium products i,e Kerastase for Hair, Elemis for Beauty & Jessica Nails.

Mr. Burzin Daver, CEO of the Livewel Group has brought down Saks Hair & Beauty, UK’s biggest chain of Salon to Mumbai. And I had a chance to get a hair cut there from the senior stylist Darshan Yewalekar. (More about him here)

The whole experience was quite nice..I had a consultation at first about the kind of hairstyles I have had before and what exactly do I have in mind. Then after a rinse, the hair cut began and was followed up by the whole drying and setting up thing.

The ambience was quiet good. They have massage chairs which is on while your rinsing and washing is done and I am sure anyone would doze off..it being so relaxing.

There is a separate section for consultation where your scalp is analysed and the products are recommended to you accordingly…mostly of Kerastase

They have just started this salon a month and a half back and its commendable that they are doing such a good job…it looks quiet established.

Here are my before and after pictures..ok I changed the before picture taken there coz I did not like it :/

So overall I quite liked the haircut, the stylist, the salon..and it was a nice experience…

Check out their facebook page here and their blog here. Do let me know if you too get any services done..

P.S: I was offered services by the company for consideration but it has not affected my opinion about it.

Makeup lessons from beauty campaigns

Some of the best photographers, models and makeup artists come together at beauty product photo shoots. The culminating product is the campaign image, that speaks for everything the product can achieve and more. We took a look at some of our favourite beauty campaigns in the recent past and the makeup lessons we learned from them.

Monochrome magnets

At first glance, it doesn’t look like much but the monochromatic look is the epitome of effortless beauty. Deepika Padukone for Neutrogena Fine Fairness cream, Sonakshi Sinha for Pantene and Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana for Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude Fragrance show us how to indulge in this natural yet glamourous look. Padukone went with peach shade for her eyes and lips while Fontana went the bronze-nude route. For the monochromatic look to work, make sure your brows and lashes stand out with a little help from brow powder and a lengthening mascara.

Match your lip colour with your nail laquer

Halle Berry for Revlon Heavenly Metals Collection teaches us a fun idea of matching our eye makeup with our nails. The hint of silver eye shadow on the inner corners of the eyes pairs easily with the flash of silver on her nails.

Vogue.in tip: Try the same technique with gold or bronze shades for a warm take on silver.
Bigger brighter eyes

The lipstick on Kate Winslet is gorgeous but what drew our attention was the eye makeup in this campaign for Lancome L’Absolu Nu Lipsticks. Note how the makeup artist has lined Winslet’s entire upper lash line with a soft black eye shadow but only the outer half along the lower lash line. Its an insider’s secret for making your eyes look bigger. A flesh toned pencil eyeliner along the water line brightens up the eyes.

A game of balance

In the campaign for Shiseido Shimmering Rouge Lipsticks, model Raquel Zimmerman is shown wearing a shocking purple (shade – RS 308 Iron Maiden) on her lips. Its almost the only pop of colour on her face. The eyes are toned down with a gleaming champagne shade. For a similar look try Shiseido Cream Eyeshadow – lemon sugar.

On similar lines is the Guerlain Terra Inca campaign featuring model Natalia Vodianova. Her bold bronze and blue eye makeup is paired with a touch of soft pink gloss on the lips. We think its a great look for a fun day out in the sun.

Winging it

The wing is an easy way to glam up your eye makeup routine. Pair it with a smokey eye like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in this campaign for L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Serum. Or try the mini wing, paired with bronze eyeshadow as seen in the Chambor Jewels campaign.

I loved the makeup in Lancome, Guerlain, Shisheido and Chambor campaigns. Dont you think the model’s eyes in the Chambor campaign are looking awesome..I loved the mini wing, dark kohl and lots of mascara !

Which is your favorite look ? Or something you would love doing ?

Pros:

1. I liked the texture..its very easy to blend.

3. Stays almost the whole day.

Lancome and Femina’s ‘A Date with Beauty’

I attended the Lancome India and Femina’s ‘A Date with Beauty’ today at the Taj Mahal Hotel. In store was an introduction to brand Lancome, its history, knowing about some of its renowned products. I came to know how they actually test products on a thing which is exactly similar to our skin, made in their labs, and reacts similarly which helps them conduct various researches on how the product works and how effective it is. They also talked about Genefique and their new launch Visionnaire which is coming out in October. It claims to give you the perfect skin, such that you would not need Microdermabrasion if you thinking of it.

Products divided..kept to try

It was followed by a session with Dr Varun Katyal, dermatologist and antiageing expert, about the importance of sunscreen, the dos, donts and everything..let me tell me many of my myths were busted in this session. I am sure you too must be living under some of those..so lets bust them..

  • Myth-1
Skin starts ageing after 30.

Fact : Skin starts ageing from the age of 20 although gradually..the process of ageing starts and we must take care of it from that very moment to keep it supple and healthy forever and prevent it from the ageing hazards.
  • Myth-2
I do not need a sunscreen when I am indoors
Fact: We do ! Though we are indoors there are UVA rays passing through everything even though in lesser amounts, be it your PC or laptop screens or tubelights or windows,etc..we should use a SPF 30 sunscreen atleast once a day even though we are indoors.
  • Myth-3
Sun Block is better than a sunscreen as it would block the rays completely and give me more protection
Fact: There is no such thing as Sun Block ! Companies are no longer allowed to use the word sun block coz nothing can completely block rays, though some companies do, but those are just normal sunscreen and the name is used interchangeably.
  •  Myth-4
Higher the SPF, more the protection
Fact: No,higher SPF does not denote more protection. SPF i.e Sun Protection Factor only denotes the time we can spend exposed to sun. Eg : If a person gets tanned in 10 minutes in the sun without sunscreen, SPF 30 would protect him for 30*10=300 minutes and SPF 50 for 50*10=500 minutes, after which he would need to reapply the sunscreen.
And there were many other things discussed. He said the most important thing to use for anyone, would be a sunscreen, You may even skip a moisturiser, but never a sunscreen. One should use a sunscreen according to their skin types, like gel based for oily skin or a lotion or a thicker texture for dry skin. If some ingredients in sunscreen do not suit a person and he breaks out everytime he uses a sunscreen, he can use Lacto Calamine instead, coz the presence of Zinc Oxide in it would offer some protection atleast.
He also talked about how important is using a moisturiser at night and that it should never be skipped. I also asked him about the steps in a normal skin care regime..would post about it later..this would become quiet big.
And then few Lancome products were used according to the skin type and problems faced. I also had a chat with Stafford Braganza and saw him in action doing his favorite smokey eyes. He was doing green smokey eyes on a girl. I loved the outcome ! He is such a warm and friendly person.

And later we were given a bag containing Genefique Concentrate and Genefique Eye Concentrate samples, Teint Miracle Foundation sample, voucher and chocolates (there was the Lancome design on them too )
So overall it was a fun evening.
P.S: I also bought some accessories..the owl necklace (finally :/), thread bangles and a black beaded bracelet. 🙂
Did some of your myths bust ??

Etude Aqua Rouge Lipstick Review,Swatches

Etude Aqua Rouge Lipstick Review,Swatches

Now I had got this long time back..and these lipsticks do not have names..they just have numbers and this one is PP933. I do not know if they are available widely here but Etude House is easily available in Malaysia, Singapore,etc..basically South East Asia.

I do not have the outer carton now which had the ingredients and content and claim. It has Vitamin E and other stuff I remember which makes it moisturising.

I had bought this from a local shop here..I am not aware if they still have this.

MRP: I am not quiet sure but I guess it was around Rs. 200/-

This shade is a glossy light pink with a little mauve undertone and very fine silver shimmer..I just love this shade ! Period.

T-2 swipes B- 1 swipe

It is super moisturising and very very light on lips..you would never ever feel you are wearing a lipstick. It gives a high glossy sheen to the lips and you would not need a gloss with this.

Here is how it looks on my lips

This shade would look very good on medium to fair skin. Its a perfect everyday pink and would not look OTT at all. I wore it in my FOTD here

Pros:

1. Very moisturising..you can easily skip a lip balm with this.
2. Love the shade ! Its a perfect everyday pink.
3. I liked the off white and silver packaging. Its quiet sturdy too.
4. Gives a nice glossy sheen to the lips.
5. Economical.
6. Glides on super smooth.
7. Does not accentuate lines on lips.
8. The shimmer is not very visible and does not stray around the lips like Lakme 138. It just goes away with the lipstick.

Cons:

1. My only issue with this is the staying power. As its super moisturising it stays just for 1-2 hours.
2. Availability is an issue with this.

Overall I quite love this shade and can use it every single day 🙂

Powder Blusher in Morale (Rosed Flush) mirrors the glimmering starlight that illuminates the insomniac’s lair of unending night-time pleasures. A decadent pigment that dares you to be fearless.

Rosed flush, shimmer finish

Unfortunately it broke before it reached me..its very very soft to touch and may be thats why…it needs to be handled carefully.

As described its indeed a color that gives a rosy flush on the cheeks. It looks quite dark and purply in the pan but the color comes out pinker when used lightly.

It has silver shimmer and is a perfect evening wear blush…gives a fuchsia purple color when layered up. As mentioned in the tip above this shade can give four to five variants depending on how intensely its used.

The other blush Ambition from this collection is more of a neutral peachy shade.

Pros:

1. Its very very pigmented and you need just a little for that rosy cheeks.
2. I liked the classic Illamasqua packaging.
3. This shade can give you different variations of color depending on how you used it.
4. Its a perfect night time blush.
5. This is going to last super long as less is more with this.
6. Its very finely milled and is satin smooth in texture.
7. It would also work as an eye shadow and a pretty pink gloss when mixed with a clear one.

Cons:

1. There is no brush or mirror with this.
2. One needs to be very careful using this and start with very less..as there are high chances one would end up with a clown face..it being so pigmented.
3. Not available here.

Overall its quite a pretty blush and I loved the quality of these..just that one needs to be careful in using.

MRP: Rs. 295/- for 3ml

It comes in a small round silver bottle with a long handle and has felt tip like other Tips and Toes liners. I liked the fact about Tips and Toes that all their liners are felt tip and are quiet easy to use.

Ultra Violet is a light violet shade. The thing I did not like about it, is that its quiet sheer. and they do claim above that green and violet need 2-3 swipes. They have very fine shimmer which is not so visible..but thats why these are named as Sparklers and are different here from the Eye Lights.

T-2 coats B-1 coat

After being in water- see how it completely faded

Pros:

1. Has a felt tip brush and is easy to use.
2. Does not flake.
3. Comes off easily.
4. Gives a glossy sheen.

Cons:

1. This is not completely waterproof though claimed.
2. No ingredients mentioned.
3. I think this is priced more coz Eye Lights are better and still priced at 250 whereas the qty is same in both i.e 3ml
4. This particular shade Violet and Green as they claim are quiet sheer and you need 2-3 coats of it, for it to show up.

Overall I found them ok..I have not seen silver and blue yet..but I liked Eye Lights more.
