The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Range Review

The Body Shop had come up with three limited edition ranges this Christmas, one was Spiced Apple, Frosted Berries and this Vanilla Chai one. I had these three products from the Vanilla Chai range and here are my thoughts..

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Body Butter

Claims: Our Limited Edition Vanilla Chai Body Butter is a rich and delicious-smelling festive treat for softly-sweet skin. The Vanilla Chai scent is warm and inviting, filled with creamy milk and addictive vanilla

Claims: Add a hint of holiday magic to bath time with our Limited Edition Vanilla Chai Bath Foam. The warm and inviting scent, infused with creamy milk and hand-picked vanilla from Madagascar, creates an indulgent spa experience.

Ingredients:

This range comes in a pretty light yellow packaging with the Christmasy print on it. The smell is warm and woody, more of chai than of vanilla. It’s not the light vanilla scent, the strong chai scent is overpowering the vanilla.

But I still love the warm and spicy scent and it’s perfect for the winter season.

I have the Body Butter, Shower Gel and Foam bath. Now I don’t have a bath tub, hence cannot use the Foam Bath in that way, but I add it in a bucket and use it that way. Also it is great for manicures and pedicures at home, those pampering days.

I love the Shower Gel and Body Butter combo, the smells lasts longer when both are used simultaneously. The body butter is slightly thick and rich for my taste and hence it is perfect for current winters. I don’t like using heavy body butters in summers or monsoons in Mumbai.

The shower gel foams and cleanses really well, and skin does not feel overly dry or stretchy. I would recommend trying out this range right now as it is perfect for the season. I am not sure if it is still available, but if it is, do grab the Vanilla Chai range!

If you know I have running an Instagram contest for this new Virgin Mojito Range from The Body Shop, I also got a chance to try a few products from this new range and here is my review on it.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml

It comes in the same plastic jar as the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and has the same gel like texture and consistency with white and green fine granules. I already love the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and loving this too, this one smells more refreshing and exactly like Mojito! It leaves the skin gently exfoliated and soft without any greasiness or heaviness.

What the Company claims: The Body Shop brings you an innovative, brand-new fragrance format! With a zingy fragrance, our NEW Limited Edition Virgin Mojito Body Splash lets you splash on the crisp, refreshing scent of lime and fresh mint after the shower to extend the feeling of freshness all day. Innovative way to apply our new fragrance Light and fast-drying With the extract of Caribbean mint and lime Made with Community Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar from Paraguay

This is the first time The Body Shop has come up with a Body Splash, I think it is launched in place of the Body Mist. It is a thin, runny water like liquid which you just need to rub all over your body after a bath or after using the body butter. It evaporates quickly leaving behing a nice whiff of lime and mint. Again very, very refreshing. Only con would be it doesn’t stay that long on it’s own and over the body butter, it stays for like 3-4 hours. I would have loved if it stayed longer for at least 5-6 hours.

As I had mentioned in my previous Fuji Green Tea Range Review, that I am not a fan of The Body Shop Body Butters and I prefer the Body Lotions as my skin is not very dry and I do not like rich and heavy creams except in extreme winters which is rare in a humid city like Mumbai.

I was expecting this to be of the same formulation as the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter but this one was very rich and heavy. I compared the ingredients of both and I found that the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter only had soybean oil and shea butter as the rich ingredients whereas this Virgin Mojito Body Butter contains cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax, soybean oil and sesame oil as the rich ingredients and that makes it very heavy.

I would be using this Virgin Mojito Body Butter only in the 2 months of Mumbai winters, but otherwise I still prefer the Fuji Green Tea one coz it is very light and non greasy. If you are someone who has very dry skin, the Virgin Mojito Body Butter is perfect for you! It is very moisturizing and hydrating. Also for someone who feels itchiness due to dry skin or is developing stretch marks, this one will give your skin the much needed moisture.

Overall I would say this range is very, very refreshing coz of the fresh lime and mint. It would have been amazing if this range would have been launched in the summers. I love the Body Scrub and the new Body Splash too, the Body Butter is slightly rich for me but when everything is used together, the smell stays on much longer.

September 2015 My Envy Box Review

If you remember the previous month’s My Envy Box, it was a bomb!! It was the best My Envy Box I had ever received. So I had very high expectations from this month’s My Envy Box, did it stay upto the expectations? Read on to know..

I received September’s My Envy Box today, and I also filmed a video and edited it all today 🙂

This month’s box is a silver colored one. It has the September card and the product details card, which has a few makeup tips on the back side of the card.

 

Let’s look into the contents:

  • Za Total Hydration Fresh Foamy Cleanser 5g sample- Full size Rs.299/- for 100g
  • Davidoff Cool Water Shower Gel 75ml- Full size Rs.1800/- for 150ml
  • Catrice Ultimate Shine Lip Colour in What’s Apricot Full size- Rs.610/- for 3.5g
  • Trussardi Donna perfume vial 1.5ml

This time there is just one full sized product i.e. the lipstick, one super deluxe sized sample i.e Davidoff Cool Water Shower Gel which is half the original size and two tiny samples which I am not too happy with.

The cleansing foam is only worth Rs.299/- and not something very expensive, so a sample size of at least 20g could have been included. I don’t like perfume samples in subscription boxes or bags, though this one smells nice, but you can get such tiny samples for free at the brand counters.

Catrice Lipstick in What’s up Apricot

My Catrice lipstick was a nice, everyday n*de shade and good to pair with smokey eyes, but it has melted and broken from the base and got damaged in transit :/

Overall I would say this month’s box is pretty ok, I am not too pleased. My expectations were sky high after the super amazing box last month. I would suggest you buy it only if you like the Davidoff Cool Water and the Catrice lipstick.

The price of the lipstick i.e. Rs.610/- and the shower gel i.e. Rs.900/- is a total of 1500/- which is decent for a box worth Rs.722/- (post discount)

I hope your lipstick remains intact though 🙂

It comes in a standard TBS scrub and body butter tub packaging, has the golden and blue print the Argan Oil Range has.

Its light brown in color and is gel like wobbly in texture. The argan and walnut shells are mild enough for body exfoliation including the sensitive parts. It spreads out easily since not too thick and washes out easily too.

It does not leave a sticky,slimy feeling and does not dehydrate the skin too. The texture is just perfect. It helps exfoliating some ingrowth hair on the legs, etc. (not the deep ones though)

Overall, its a decent body scrub and I quite like it. Recommended
