Docolor Fantasy Makeup Brush Set/Contouring Brush Review

Hi guys,

If you follow me on Snapchat and Insta stories, I had shared these brushes with you guys and many of you asked me to review them.

I am using these since about 2 weeks now, especially the face brushes. Docolor is a Hong Kong based makeup brushes brand, they have so many different varieties of makeup brushes, from sets to individuals and also a lot of accessories like brush holders, lash combs, instant brush cleaner, etc.

I have the 16 pcs Fantasy Makeup Brush Set and the Kabuki/Contouring Brush. They have synthetic hair and the body is plastic.

Docolor Fantasy Set: Inspired by rainbow’s colorful, among a sea of basic, black, utilitarian beauty tools, they are just as magical-looking,totally special as one might imagine.

Features: The handles are a beautiful glistening rainbow, the bristles are pastel pink hued, the overall effect is totally dreamy as you might imagine, this brush is created for all genders! Because makeup has no gender.

Vegan Brushes: Bristles are made of synthetic fiber, a super-soft fiber that feels luxurious against the skin, and no shedding that avoid embarrassing moments.

What’s In The Box? Brushes for applying the magical powder, foundation, concealer, eyebrow, highlighter, eye shadow, blending brushes — all housed in a beautiful rainbow box.

This set contains:

12 Eye Shadow Brush

13 Angled Eye Liner Brush

14 Lip Liner Brush

15 Lip Brush

16 Spoolie Brush

Price: $23.18 (Buy HERE)

First of all, just look at the packaging. They are the most beautiful brushes I have ever seen. The ombre of white and pink bristles and gold/blue/green/pink/purple on the handles with the glitter texture looks amazing. These are aptly named ‘Rainbow’ brushes.

The bristles are super soft and fluffy, quite soft for synthetic hair, the powder brush is my absolute favourite. It’s one of the softest powder brush I have used. They haven’t shed hair at all yet. I love the build of it too, they are quite sturdy and tight.

All the face brushes come with brush guards, so that they can be kept tightly in the guards and don’t lose shape.

Synthetic brushes are great for cream products and for packing colour. The eye shadow blending brush is ok, it’s not pointy enough in shape. But you can always make do with blending brushes, the more the merrier.

One thing I would like to add is, they do not pick up a lot of product, hence need building up. Which is good for bronzers/blushes as you won’t end up with too much at a time. But if you need something that is quicker, then you might not like these.

Coming to the contouring brush,

Claims: This Single Flat Contour Trimming Brush is inspired by rainbow’s colorful, among a sea of basic, black, utilitarian beauty tools, It’s just as magical-looking, totally special as one might imagine. It is small and flat, the angular design of this brush makes it ideal for controlled application of powder and color. Excellent for blending, contouring and highlighting the complexion, allow you to achieve professional makeup application every time.It is designed to create targeted contouring and strong, sculpted cheeks. If you want to make your face look slimmer and gives you a super chiseled appearance, then this is the brush for you.

Price: $8.99 (Buy HERE)

Now this has the exact same design as this is also from the Fantasy collection. Again a sturdy body and well packed bristles. It’s a flat rectangle shaped brush and is perfect for cream contouring. It works for powder contouring too, but best for blending creams. Even though it claims to work for highlighting too, the shape is not very suitable for highlighting.

Overall, I would say these are pretty affordable and stunning in terms of design. Pretty sturdy and I do recommend them for the price.

Have you tried Docolor brushes yet? They even have a unicorn collection 😀

Kara Nail Polish Remover Wipes Review

Kara Nail Polish Remover Wipes Review

Hi guys,

Today I am reviewing these life changing nail polish remover wipes from Kara! I remember the first time ever I came across wipes, I was elated! It’s a pain to sit with cotton balls and acetone/nail paint remover and work on each nail, also that takes forever!

Most of the nail paint removers come in glass bottles and you need to carry cotton balls also, if you want to remove your nail paint on the go or while travelling. Most inconvenient thing ever!

Enter nail polish remover wipes! And your life is sorted, I have tried numerous about 3-4 different brands and absolutely love the idea.

I have been testing these new nail polish remover wipes from Kara and here are my thoughts..

What the Company claims: The pack contains 30 wipes and every wipe is effective in cleansing up to 10 nails!

The wipe contains an Acetone free formulation for effective removal of nail polish, even of the darkest shade. These wipes are made from poly-viscose fibre and contain natural olive oil extracts that prevents drying of nail and skin surrounding nails. Also enriched with skin nourishing vitamin E, it helps in keeping your nails nourished and moisturized at all times. All wipes come with a delightful fruity fragrance, which comes out pleasantly post usage.

This on-the-move pack has been designed for convenience of use anytime anywhere. It can be easily slipped in your bag, used in flights, classrooms, and boardrooms anywhere anytime. All our wipes are dermatologically tested, are Acetone free, Toluene free and Paraben free.

Thus from now on if you’re worrying about chipped nails, all you need is a wipe. A new shade is now just a wipe away and say hello to your nail’s new BFF cause you can wipe off, paint on wherever you are. All with Kara Nail Polish Remover Wipes.

About Kara:  Kara is a quality product brought to you by Future Consumer Enterprise Limited. Kara wipes are manufactured at our conversion plant at Kharach. This plant is FDA approved and the manufacturing process is carried out under stringent conditions to ensure user safety and hygiene. Each Kara wipe is made from Viscose fibres, a 100% natural bio-degradable fibre.

MRP: Rs.100/- for one pack of 30 wipes

Availability: Currently on 20% discount on Nykaa.com HERE and offline available at Big Bazaar, Health & Glow, Star Bazaar, Hypercity, Beauty stores, etc.

Variants:

  • Rose
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Strawberry

I had about 2-3 packs of nail polish remover wipes and I haven’t been able to find them at my place, post shifting. You won’t believe but I haven’t painted my nails often since the time I lost those :/ It’s a pain to remove nail paints with a normal nail paint remover once you have tried these wipes. Also if I use acetone free nail paint remover, it takes me literally ages to remove paint from one single nail! I get so tired by the end of it, that I have stopped doing my nails on my own unless I go for a professional manicure-pedicure.

And thanks to Kara, my life is sorted again! I am so glad Kara has come up with nail polish remover wipes and that too in four different variants.

Each variant smells really good and the smell stays on your nails for some time. My favourites are rose and lemon. It comes in a round box and the box is very tiny and handy, it is almost the size of your fingers, as you can see in the image here.

Each wipe is super thin and made with poly-viscose fibre. You can feel how thin the wipe is, it is almost see through. Having tried 2-3 different brands, I have to admit this is the thinnest wipe I have used and the material feels superior quality in touch and feel.

One wipe is enough to remove paint from all 10 fingers at a time. It is so easy and convenient to use, I did not have to go over my nails twice, even with a dark nail paint. As you can see here, I just tried to lift one pad and it already took some nail paint off from the finger.

I love the ease of use! And the fact that it is Acetone free, Toluene free and Paraben free. The olive oil and Vitamin E leave the nails super moisturized. Normal nail paint removers leave my nails so dry that I have to immediately apply some oil or hand cream.

Also these are the most economical ones in the market considering the price and quality. These are more travel friendly too, I would say keep one in your bag all the time. You never know when your nail paint might chip and bare nails are better than chipped nail paint!

At Rs.100 for 30 pads, it comes to Rs.3.33 for one pad which is enough to remove nail paint from all fingers. Even if you change your nail paint every week, this will last you months.

I am highly impressed and definitely recommend the Kara Nail Polish Remover wipes! Stock up on these at the current Nykaa sale for just Rs.80!

Have you tried the Kara nail polish remover wipes yet?

MAC Matte Blush Raizin Review, Swatches, FOTD & Dupes

MAC Matte Blush Raizin Review, Swatches, FOTD & Dupes

Written by Ishleen

Hello sweeties!

So here I am with my very first blush-review on New Love – Makeup! Thanks Bhumika mam, for giving me a chance! :*

Mac blush in Raizin is my second blush, and is perhaps the most impulse purchase till date! I went out to buy a good pair of shoes and got home this rather muddy looking blush (just in the pan) as I wanted a good bronzing powder!

Claiming to be a makeup addict and a beauty blogger for over two and a half years now, I could no more make excuses to avoid blushes just because they can look dominantly clownish if applied improperly! But after having tried my hand on a blush (also from mac) I knew I had to take a step forward with this dark brownish-red blush!

So coming to the main review now, keep on reading to know more!

About Mac Raizin Blush!

Claims: A blush that provides fantastic colour with ease and consistency.Designed by and for professionals, formulated to provide fantastic colour with ease and consistency. Applies evenly, adheres lightly to skin to achieve a natural-looking application of colour that stays put all day.

Dermatologist tested
Non-acnegenic

Directions: Choose appropriate brush and glide brush over the blush. Tap off excess powder and apply blush to skin using sweeping strokes and blend well.

Price: INR 1350 for 6 grams of product

This not so gorgeous looking blush belongs to the Mac permanent collection of blushes. Mac permanent line blushes are available in 5 stunning finishes, and Mac Raizin comes under the Matte finish; so you know it’s bound to be drop-dead pigmented no matter what!

Packaging: The regular line MAC blushes come in a very specific, matte black round casing with a see-through lid! The packaging looks quite sturdy, strong and is indeed very classy to look at! If there is one thing that a mac blush is not—it is flimsy! The lid is very sturdy and spill-proof as it has a click-sound lock mechanism—which is very reliable! One thing which I am not sure if I like or dislike about the MAC blushes is the fact that it does not come with any applicator! I guess that is not much of a con though, because those tiny little brushes which do come with blushes are somewhat useless—at least, most of the times if not always!

Shade: Okay, I’ll be true to you guys! One look at the blush, and I wanted to look away—real bad! But it just struck me that this kind of a shade was such which I could really use as a blush as well as a bronzer! And a double duty product always gets a yes from my brain! 😛

Outside
Indoors

So coming to the real hue, the blush appears to be a rather muddy looking red toned brown in the pan! Really unflattering, even for the most dusky Indian skins if you ask me! But on application, guys take my word for this; it was the most spectacular earthy-toned blush my cheeks had ever adorned! It looked so flattering that I had to pick it up—no second thoughts here! The blush has very beautiful and quite evident red undertones which add to the earthiness in the blush and makes it much more wearable!

Texture: okay all you blush-lover’s; when was the last time any MAC blush disappointed you? I can’t remember any such instance! Just like all iconic blushes from Mac, the texture of Raizin too is silky, almost satiny smooth—not at all chalky or too powdery despite being a powder blush!

Pigmentation and Colour Pay-Off: Coming from the matte collection of finishes—this blush is the not the one to be trusted with mediocre pigmentation! This is crazy pigmented—like insanely pigmented! Talking of the colour pay off—one swipe of my finger, and the earthy reddish brown powder covers up the entire fingertip and does not allow the skin to peep through—yes it is THAT pigmented!

Staying Power: I have never had a problem with the staying power when it comes to Mac—and Mac blushes generally stay put on my oily cheeks for a good 6 hours! Mac raisin is a bit different in this aspect—but different in a good way though! Being on the darker side of the spectrum, it stays on for a tad bit longer duration—it stayed “even” atop my foundation and powder for more than 7-8 hours while fading evenly! And this was without using a primer—I can only guess how much it will stay had I used a primer underneath my base!

My Take on Mac Raizin Blush

I am glad that my impulse purchase did not fail me this time—as it did cost me a lot! 😛 Being an Indian skin type, I know that this blush will work for us desi beauties fantastically! And as it is a powder blush, it did suit my oily, acne prone skin very well! Secondly, like most Indians, I too have very prominent yellow undertones and the red undertones in the blush do help in accentuating my natural skin tone! I just need to dip my brush very lightly in the pan and use it on the apples of my cheeks, blending it towards the hairline during summer months! But I plan to use it in my hollows during the upcoming fall as I like more bronzed kind of a skin in winters!

Do not care to swirl the brush in the pan as the pigmentation is such that the slightest overdoing will offer no scope for forgiveness! All in all if used judiciously, this blush is a go to for Indian skin tones!

Though the most underrated of blushes in the market, this one is the most muted, neutral blush especially for deeper Indian skin tones! And if you are fair to medium, or have skin similar to mine, more power to you as this particular blush will double up as both a blush and a matte powder bronzer which is very flattering!

Pros:

  • Silky-smooth texture
  • Matte brown with red undertones
  • Tremendously pigmented
  • Long-staying
  • Fades out evenly
  • Classy packaging
  • Can double up as a bronzing powder
  • Easily blendable

Cons:

  • Can be a bit expensive for some
  • Will look ruddy on very pale skin tones
  • Does not come with an applicator

Will I recommend?

If you have a native Indian kind of warm skin with yellow undertones—man, go for it! This will give you the most natural earthy kind of warm glow you could only think of! A very wearable blush especially for the deeper skins! Do not let the pan frighten you with its muddy brown appearance—it’s red undertones are indeed very flattering for the Indian skin!

Rating: 4.3/5

Editor’s note: Thanks Ishleen for this lovely review, the blush is perfect for deeper skin tones.

Dupe Alert: Few dupes of MAC Raizin blush are La Femme Blush in Sienna, NYX Cream Blush in Tan (Milani Sunset Beach is said to be a dupe but it is slightly on the orangey side)
