Neon is in this season

Neon is in this season: Latest Makeup Trends by Neha Khanna

Neha Khanna, Beauty Advisor, AVON India

Nude face days are passé. We need something to cheer up this summer. The bare-face-bold-look has been an unfailing makeup combination on runways for the last couple of years, more so because it translates so easily off the catwalk. But this time it’s the year of the neon’s – how about berry bitten pout, as colors get more saturated, the intensity is way higher. With Neon look ruling the beauty charts, we figure out from a makeup expert which color will suit your style best.

Neha Khanna, Beauty Advisor, AVON India shares some insights on how neon makeup is trending this summer. Taking cues from a brighter color palette the season is packed in shades of fuchsia, aquamarine, orange and green. You may wonder how such makeup can be used in your daily life. When neon makeup is toned down and tailored, it can be made wearable with a few tips and tricks. Anyone can look bright and bold this summer with the hottest makeup trend.

To carry neon makeup successfully, one needs to highlight a key feature of the face keeping rest very basic, avoiding it to look loud. If you want to carry vibrant lips then just swipe a couple of coats of mascara and a plain black liner. If eye makeup is all you want, then go easy on cheeks and lips with peach or a shade of pink.

While creating a dramatic look, choose to go with a bright eye shade and work it with three to four shades of the same palette starting with the lightest on the inner corner of the eye, working it outwards with each followed by a darker shade. Ensure that your eyes, cheeks and lips are of the same color family to avoid color excess or jarring.

Neon lips can be worn either in a minimalist or bold fashion. If you seek a daring statement, opt for satin or matte lip shades that not only stay perky but also remain even and muted all day. But if you chose to go for soft neon wash, opt for glosses in high shine shades of coral, orange and hot pink.

For neon eyes the quality chosen should always defines the impression that the appearance has overall. For a bright neon effect reach out for matte shades that appear bright and for light application opt for mineral shades that provide shine and sparkle along with lightest of washes.

How can you complete your neon look without nail paints? Neon nails have been there for quite a while now. Every possible pastel or vibrant shade of nail paints like neon green, blue, pink, coral, lemon yellow, orange, violet etc. have taken space in our makeup drawer.

Give neon’s a try this season and have fun with it!

Red Carpet Tips and Tricks

Red Carpet Tips and Tricks

Namrata Soni has a reputation for transforming A-list actors into red carpet stunners. Her signature look of fresh dewy skin and pretty pink pouts has earned her many fans in the tinsel town including the likes of Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Sharma and even an IIFA award. She shares her top five tips and tricks to rock a red carpet appearance like a Bollywood pro.

Red Pout: “Nothing is more red carpet appropriate than a red pout,” says Soni. “Choose a red lipstick that suits your skin tone and fill in only after defining your lips with a red liner. Thin lips need not worry. Create an illusion of fuller lips with some high shine gloss. Swipe two coats in the center of the bottom and the upper lip for a bee-stung effect.”

Camera-ready: “Strategic placement of highlighter is very important when you know that camera flash will be attacking you from every angle. Dust an iridescent gold or pearl coloured highlighter on your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and on the chin to capture light perfectly and use your facial contours to full advantage. For an all-over gorgeous sheen, add powder bronzer to baby oil and smooth over exposed skin.

Flawless Face: “Flash can be very unforgiving and the biggest mistake you can commit is skipping the foundation altogether and applying only concealer on your problem spots. Foundation is important even if you have great skin and few minor flaws. It creates an even base for you to work on and camouflage flaws to perfection.”

Fake Drama: “False eyelashes create drama and are a must for any red carpet look. Whether you’re rocking a red lip or a bright pop pout, false lashes is all you need to add oomph and balance your look. Cut and customize false lashes to your lash line and don’t forget to apply liner to fill in any gaps and blend the real and false lashes seamlessly. Apply two coats of volumising mascara and you’re ready to flutter your eyes for the shutterbugs.”

So Slick: “If you don’t have enough time for a wash and blow-dry, use this secret tip that I swear by to transform a bad hair day into glamorously, swishy locks. Smooth over some MorocccanOil for shine and tame flyways and pull hair into a side ponytail or a low, tight knot. These sleek and sophisticated hairstyles make any outfit look put together and takes my celebrity clients from a shoot to stardom in no time.”

So were these tips helpful ? I love and religiously follow using highlighters and gloss at the centre..

Makeup Trends for 2013

Makeup Trends for 2013

Kindly attribute responses to Ms. Aakriti Kochar, Beauty & Makeup Expert, Oriflame India

When it comes to makeup, natural is always beautiful – but so is a bit of color on the face. Fortunately spring summer 2013 will offer both the options. Brilliant shades of blue on eyes, Slicked vivid crimson hues, emphasized neutral lips and a glowing skin are the trends to look at in the coming season.

Strong and bold brows are yet another look back in fashion. Fill using a dark brown pencil or eye shadow to create a bold statement. After very long, sparkle catches the limelight. Apply just a hint of shimmer or glitter on the eyelids, but make sure you don’t over-do it. The “Smokey Eye” in dark black is officially over. The new trend is to use eye shadows in gray or dark brown tones to create a softer look.

The season is all about clean and glowing skin. Apply a light peachy base and avoid a blush. Try Oriflame Very Me Peach Me Perfect Skin Glow, a tinted gel moisturiser with a lightweight finish that gives a peachy, natural glow and brings out the best in your complexion. One can also go for a light bronzer on cheeks like Oriflame Giordani Gold Bronzing Pearls in Natural Peach and save the bright colors on eyes and lips. Lips accentuated with matte red or crimson are very in. For a more vintage look, one can also use deep Bordeaux lip colours. These bright lips scream drama and balance out more neutral looking skin. The look is sexy and easy to achieve.

Thick or thin, black eyeliner is a staple in every girl’s makeup bag. This season, thin eyeliner, drawn close to lashes and following the natural line of the eye, is used to achieve a demure eye. Heavier graphic lines make for a more extreme and dramatic look. One can create both these look by using Oriflame Beauty Wonder Liner. Its multi-dimensional precision applicator provides both thin and thick lines. Striking contrast with jet black liner can be achieved by swiping on a platinum shadow over the lids. This also gives us inspiration for how to use a few simple strokes and dress up a look to go from day to night.

High pony tails and big open curls with a glossy texture can be extensively seen on the runways. To master this look, blow-dry hair straight, create a clean center or side parting if wanted, and secure hair into a firm ponytail close to the top of the head. Spritz with Oriflame HairX Styling Gloss Booster Spray to add instant shine. For an unconventional look, you can even wrap the ponytail into any number of looks – a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot.

Makeup Tips For Teenagers

Makeup Tips For Teenagers
Guest Post

Use the right makeup products

The most important tip to look good for teenagers in a long run is to select right kind of products for makeup application. Teenager’s skin is subtle and soft; hence using any wrong makeup product could permanently damage their skin. Consider makeup products, which are made up of natural ingredients rather the ones using toxic chemicals. A majority of makeup products contains harmful chemicals; hence you are supposed to check the ingredients before buying them to apply over your skin. Though the chemical based makeup products could make you beautiful instantly, but they have a number of long term repercussions over your skin. They can damage as you reach in your thirties.

Your skin

Before your makeup, the skin has to be cleansed using a cleanser as per your skin type. After applying the cleaner, make sure you thoroughly wash your face and neck. Also, avoid rubbing too hard, rather do it gently in a circular motion and rinse properly followed by cleaning with dry and clean towel. Your makeup starts with a foundation. Though many teenagers do not need foundation, they can use a tinted moisturiser to even out the skin tone or simply cover the blemishes. While applying TM, make sure you do it with easy hand using a flat top kabuki brush or just sanitized fingers instead of trying the powder puff.

The eyes

For this, you need to start with your eye brows. Since they simply frame your entire face, hence you need to keep them neat. In order to give eye brows a right shape, make sure they are threaded properly according to your face shape. This will help you in keeping a perfect look using a pair of tweezers and mirror. Now, curl your eyelashes before you actually apply anything for your eye makeup. The eye make has several options; however, for teenagers it is fun to try some shimmery kinds of eye shadows as they will give a good look. The right way to apply them is to use a minimal quantity of eye shadow and properly blend over your eye crease and gradually build it up.

It is better to use eyeliner over the top lid very close to the lash line. This should follow the use of a cotton swab or try using a good eye shadow brush and then apply the color over your lashes. For the lower lashes, simply apply the dots of eyeliner in between the lashes followed by blending it properly.

For cheeks and lips

For cheeks, you could try some gel blush or any suitable cream. The Pinks are the best option for teenagers, while you could even try rosy pink for darker choice. All you need to do is to put the blush over the cheeks’ apples followed by blending properly. For the lips, the best option for teenagers is to try is a gloss as it gives you the best shine. Avoid using heavy lipsticks and the lip liners since they are too heavy for teenagers to try and could even give an older look.

Final word

During the teens, the girls simply want to look hot and beautiful. Using the above top tips, you could certainly enhance your beauty. However, if you still want to try something more, you could consult beauty professionals to look cool and beautiful. Enjoy being beautiful with the above top tips for teenagers.

11 Best Makeup Secrets Revealed

11 Best Makeup Secrets Revealed

Want to look like you just stepped out of a beauty salon — every day? Uncover the industry’s ten best makeup secrets (plus one bonus tip)

Red Carpet Secrets

Makeup artists have a few tricks up their sleeves when it comes to creating beautiful looks for women. For Vincent Longo, makeup artist and creative director of Vincent Longo Cosmetics, his best-kept secret comes from the red carpet. “When doing makeup for celebrities before big events, I always make sure to stain the cheeks and lips before applying the foundation,” he says. “So if their makeup wears off during the night, the stained cheeks and lips will continue to glow from underneath.” It’s a foolproof beauty back-up plan! Ten more makeup artist secrets, revealed.

A Fresh Face

Resist the urge to powder your face every time you refresh your makeup — the result will look cakey. Instead, use blotting papers to keep makeup intact as you remove excess moisture.

Choosing a Concealer

Follow this rule of thumb when picking the right concealer for your skin’s undertones: If your skin tends to be ruddy (reddish), use a green color corrective stick; if you have a sallow (yellow) complexion, look for a concealer in shades of lilac or pink. Olive or darker skin tones need a peachy or apricot concealer.

A Natural Flush

Cream blushes and cheek stains will give your face a rosy glow that looks natural. Use your fingertips to blend the product into the apples of your cheeks in a circular motion. Note that peaches and golden hues look beautiful on fairer complexions; coral shades look best on medium skin tones; and mauves and burgundies are most flattering on darker complexions.

Defined Cheekbones

Use this simple contouring trick: After applying blush or bronzer to your face, lightly swipe a highlighting powder (a frosted off-white eye shadow will work!) on your cheekbones just above and below the color you’ve applied. This creates an instant face-flattering effect!

Being a Bronzed Beauty

Fake a bake by sweeping golden brown bronzing powder along your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. A powder with light-reflective pigment will give an “airbrushed” glow. Just be careful not to go too dark for your natural skin tone.

Subtle, Sexy Eyes

Smoky eyes aren’t for everyone. If you’re fair skinned, the look can be too much. Instead, opt for nude eye shadow (flattering on everyone!) or a pale gold on lids and gray, not black, eyeliner.

Perfectly Lined Lids

Unsteady hands can make it a challenge to apply liquid eyeliner. To ensure a smooth line, apply your eyeliner by painting little dots along your lash line, as close to the lashes as possible, then connect the dots. Easy!

Long, Lush Lashes

The key to lashes with tons of length and fullness is to use two types of mascara. Start with a lengthening mascara (bristles are close together to better grip lashes and spread the product from base to tip), then follow up with a thickening mascara, which has dense bristles to build volume.

Fabulously Full Lips

For pillowy lips that would rival Angelina’s, you can fake fullness with a nude lip liner. Select a shade that matches your lip tone and draw a line just outside the edges of your natural lip line — but not too far! Smudge the line into your lips and apply a lip gloss or lipstick in a pale pink shade — just a tad lighter than your natural skin. Top with a dab of gloss in the center of both top and bottom lips.

Lip Color With Staying Power

If you want your lip color to last all day, apply lipstick with a lip brush, and then add a coat of translucent powder to set the color. Repeat this once or twice and you can be sure your radiant red lips won’t budge.

I do follow the lip color to stay longer one..And surely going to try the two types of mascara for fuller lashes !
