DIY – Makeup Setting Spray

DIY – Makeup Setting Spray

By Sanchita

Makeup setting spray plays a very important role in the application and setting of base. In fact, this is the reason the makeup looks so flawless and does not budge for a long time even during scorching heat. You have often seen the matte or dewy look on various celebrities and how impeccable it looks! It also helps in removing the cakey or any patchy look in case you applied the powder or foundation in excess. Sadly, not many Indian brands manufacture makeup setting sprays and therefore the other brands are quite expensive. One day, I was having a casual chat regarding makeup setting with my friend who is a makeup artist and she told me how she sets the makeup on her clients. She uses a concoction liquid of certain ingredients which are readily available in the market and I was so determined to make it. In fact, you can also make two different setting spray – one for dewy and the other for matte. So, scroll down to see how to make your own makeup setting spray.

INGREDIENTS

  • Rose water – act as a toner, moisturizer and skin enhancer.
  • Aloe Vera Gel – helps in setting the look without getting patchy or cakey.
  • Glycerin – moisturizes the skin and evens out the makeup. Acts as a sticky base to keep the makeup adhered to
  • Distilled Water
  • Empty Spray Bottle

PROCEDURE

  • Take an empty spray bottle and make sure it is completely cleansed, sterilized and dried. Fill 1/3rd of the bottle with distilled water.

  • Add 2/3rd rose water to the bottle.

  • Add 1 tbsp. of Aloe Vera Gel.

  • Now, add 1/2 tbsp. of glycerin or any other essential oil of your choice.

  • Shake the bottle very well so that the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

  • Voila! Your makeup setting spray is ready!

Note: If you want to make the spray for matte finish, use the distilled water and rose water in a 50:50 ratio and add only little bit of glycerin. However, if you want to make the spray for dewy finish, use the distilled water and rose water in a 20:80 ratio and add 1tbsp. of glycerin. Also, you can add Jojoba Oil or any other essential oil to increase the hydration factor during winter.

Caution: If you’re allergic to any of the above mentioned ingredients, please do not incorporate them in the concoction.

This can also be used a toner and refresher in this scorching heat. Simply spray the liquid from a slight distance, closing the eyes and let is dry on its own. Also, do not spray too much as it will take a long time to dry up. It is free from chemicals and preservatives and hence it is best to use it up within 1-2 months of making.

Editor’s Note: This sounds amazing Sanchita, definitely worth trying. I am surely going to.

Will you try this DIY Makeup Setting Spray?

Do Wishes Come True? #AbHarWishHogiPoori

Do Wishes Come True? #AbHarWishHogiPoori

Hi guys,

What do you think of wishes coming true? You know how sometimes, a someone special gifts us exactly what we wanted?! Now that’s a wish genie whispering our wishes in their minds 😀

Flipkart similarly tries fulfilling everyone’s wishes, acts as a wish genie on our behalf, when we want to gift something special to someone.

One of my fellow blogger Manjulika wished for this Philips Air Fryer for her mom as she makes super yummy kachoris and samosas, smart wish I would say, coz it benefits the entire family plus takes care of their health too with less to no usage of oil. Also, one can bake, grill, fry and do so much more with an Air Fryer. I would love to try the Air Fryer too some day.

But when it comes to fulfilling wishes, I would like to be a genie here and fulfill my husband’s wish and get him something very useful which saves him a lot of time. He is always multi-tasking and managing his own freelance work too on weekends, apart from his regular job. He is mostly on the phone interacting and connecting with people. Also, he is looking to get into fitness coz that is something he has been neglecting since a while and has just started putting on weight.

We hardly get to spend time together as he is working on something or the other on weekends too,and we are ‘newly married’! Imagine my life later on. A few weeks ago when we were making some plans for weekend, my husband had to go for a meeting on Saturday related to his freelance work and the entire Saturday was spent in it, plus there are times he has conference calls on Sundays and at odd hours coz few participants are from US. I truly believe he should start delegating stuff and also invest in gadgets which save him a lot of time and manage his time wisely.

The all new Motorola Moto 360 Smart Watch is a perfect gift for him.

The watch displays notifications based on your location, be it weather, flight alerts or traffic so that he will always be on track. A light vibration ensures that he would be notified of incoming or missed calls, text messages and emails.

Say the two magic words ‘Ok Google’ before you begin your sentence to get answers to your questions, send a text, dictate a note or even schedule a meeting. The watch can also discreetly navigate you all the way to your destination when you’re lost. So he can be working on the laptop or driving, and still be scheduling meetings or asking for directions or any questions and let the Moto 360 do the math for him.

The watch is designed with an in-built pedometer and a heart rate monitor that keeps a track of your steps and heart rate. With the heart activity app using the daily and weekly benchmarks, he will be able to effectively track his progress towards his health goals and keep his weight in check.

I think this would save him a lot of time and energy and make his life much easier. His birthday is coming up in August and I know what to get now 😉 Flipkart will help me fulfill his wish. Also, all the time saved can be spent together 😀 Double win!

What do you think of #AbHarWishHogiPoori ? I personally loved the ad, very well made 🙂

Inspiring Women In Leadership

Inspiring Women In Leadership

How do inspiring stories elevate women of the future and help them raise the bar?

#EveryWomanIsALeader in her own way. It is important for her to realize her worth. And there are so many inspiring women out there, who would make you feel like, get up and do something, you too can!

For me, these are a few examples of inspiring women who are the most amazing leaders..

1. Indra Nooyi

Well, who else would be the most inspiring woman in the world for all of us?! Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi, business executive and the current Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo, the second largest food and beverage business in the world. She has consistently ranked among the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. In 2014, she was ranked 13 in the list of Forbes World’s 100 most powerful women.

2. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the founder Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Biocon Limited. She started Biocon in 1978 and today under Shaw’s leadership, Biocon has established itself as a leading player in biomedicine research with focus on diabetes and oncology.

3. Chanda Kochhar

She is the MD & CEO of India’s largest private bank ICICI Bank, Being a Chartered Accountant, I always admired her the most and still do!

4. Saina Nehwal

Coming to sports, Saina is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by Badminton World Federation. She is also the first Indian after Prakash Padukone and the first Indian woman to become world number 1. She also recently won the India Open Super Series Title.

5. Mary Kom

Mar Kom is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. She became the first Indian woman boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014.

6. Tarla Dalal

Coming to other fields now, I used to really follow, respect and admire Tarla Dalal. She was the only woman in the field when there were others like Sanjeev Kapoor. She wrote over 100 books and sold more than 3 million books. She also ran the largest Indian food web site, and published a bi-monthly magazine, Cooking & More. It is sad that she is no more.

7. Ekta Kapoor

She is the most successful female producer in the entertainment industry. Though her work is not something we love or applaud, but she knows her business well and has been super successful till date.

And there are many many more, these were just a few examples. It is not ‘luck’ that played a part in their lives always. Each and every successful women leader out there, has an inspiring story. Struggles have been a part of everyone’s lives and it was not all hunky dory for them. Neither did they achieve all this in a day! Hard work and sheer perseverance have made them reach where they are.

So, pick you leader, be inspired and remember ‘You Too Can’!
