When we first shifted times were tough. There were issues running the household and I needed to find a solution and find one fast. Then one day, by pure chance, Kalpana Didi came to our lives and our world changed for the better. Plum is a new emerging brand which many people might not be aware of. Its slowly getting popular. Today, am not just reviewing this body lotion, but also the brand as a whole. I have used a few of their other products and they have worked very well on my sensitive skin. Also their website is intuitive and the entire ordering process is easy and smooth. Also they have a rewards program, plus they give discounts at times. I got their Hello Aloe Moisturiser and the face wash came at Rs.99 instead of the regular price. Additionally, got some samples too. Its good when these companies send such samples, as after I used them, I found it works well for my skin and I might repurchase the full size. And this “Plum Choco Latte Luxuriant Body Lotion”, actually I won it in their instagram contest. So let’s move on to the review.
Product Claims: Strictly inedible! Indulgent aroma and silky texture – this smoothie is only for your skin to drink. There is nothing better than a friend, unless it’s a friend with a chocolate.
The body lotion comes in a white, opaque, plastic bottle. The packaging could be slightly improved to bring in a more fun factor. It has a pump at the top for dispensing which makes it super convenient. The pump has a lock mechanism which shuts on twisting. I have carried it while travelling and there has been no spillage. Plum is transparent not just about its ingredients (What's in). But also lists the What’s out on the packaging. The entire description makes it fun rather than the boring descriptions we usually read in other brands.
Texture and fragrance:
It looks and smells exactly like a hot chocolate drink. No artificial scent like Vaseline, TBS, etc. The smell immediately reminds me of the warm chocolate drink I had at a Himalayan campsite in the cold weather. 😉
My experience:
No doubt it is rightly labelled as a luxuriant body lotion. Its one of the best I have ever used. Has perfect consistency, no stickiness and provides deep nourishment. I have extra dry skin and this has helped me greatly when other lotions haven’t. The staying power is pretty long. And I enjoy the delicious aroma every time on applying. I don’t know how they have bought the exact natural scent of chocolate into it when many other brands have just had artificial fragrances. But those who want to indulge in a Willy Wonka kinda experience, soak yourself in this delicious choco-latte and enjoy 😀
Plus, its free of parabens and all other harmful chemicals. Suitable for sensitive skin. My skin loves it totally and it feels healthy and nourished. You might feel the price is on the higher side. I do feel the price is higher for a body lotion as we use it very often and it gets over quickly in around two weeks. But in the current market, compared to the available body lotions, most of us are seeking paraben-free, artificial fragrance-free and other shit-free products. And they are all highly priced. Plum seems to offer them at more a reasonable price.
Maybe, as more such brands enter the market, the prices might slowly lower with increasing demand. One final thing, check out their website. I ordered from them before and being a software engineer, I couldn’t help admiring the entire UI, easy and intuitive ordering and checkout process, rewards program, etc. I have used other websites for ordering beauty products but Plum is really excellent. Wishing for newer products and innovations. And discounts too 😉
For oily/normal skin types, am not sure if it would work well. But for me, I am going to repurchase this and recommend it to dry skin and choco lovers.
What I like about it:

Verdict: Plum Choco Latte Luxuriant Body Lotion is really an excellent treat to nourish and pamper your skin. I would surely recommend this to everyone. Additionally, I would like to add that Plum gives back 1% of its sales to non-profit organizations dedicated to protecting the environment. Good to see such brands emerging in India. 🙂
I just got the My Envy Box for the month of July. The theme is ‘Band, Baajaa Beauty’ and it’s curated by WedMeGood. The box itself is very pretty, it is neon pink with gold intricate work on it.
I had seen a sneak peek in the email and knew there were two full sized products from SkinYoga and Gulnare in this month’ box.

In total there are 5 products in this month’s box, but except the 2 full sized products, rest of the samples are very tiny. I do prefer deluxe sized samples which have 30g or 30ml product, I do not like the 5g and 5ml tiny samples which hardly serve the purpose.
The foot soak and shimmering body oil do look interesting, but I would have liked body scrub or Gulnare moisturiser/hand cream.
Overall the value of the two full sized products do make up for the cost of the box, but I would suggest go for this month’s box only if you use/interested in trying out the foot soak or shimmering body oil. Or else, can skip this month’ box.
Here I am back with yet another post. With the advent of so many online shopping sites at our disposal makeup and skincare has become a rage. We are aware of the best of high end as well as drug store makeup products. Even the brands which are not available in India are on our fingertips. But many of us can’t get access to those brands. So, what to do in that situation?? Worry not here I am with some of the dupes of high end makeup products. These are the products which are not that easily available in India.
What’s Similar : Both of them come with a tapered brush which gives an edge to the lashes. They help in separating and elongating the lashes.
What’s Not : Dior mascara comes with a quick dry formulation which turns the lashes thick in some time.
2. Benefit High Beam (INR 2665) vs E.L.F. Essential Shimmering Facial Whip (INR 85) –
What’s Similar : Both of these highlighters have a gorgeous, pink sheen which gives a very younger looking dewy skin.
What’s Not : The E.L.F facial whip comes in a tube packaging which is very easy to use. But the finish of the E.L.F. one is very shimmery which is not perfect for day time usage.
What’s Similar : Both of them have highly pigmented 10 metallic and 2 matte shades.
What’s Not : MUA shades are slightly chalky. Also, the UD brush applicator is from cruelty free collection; whereas the MUA brush looks pretty cheap.
4. MAC Prep & Prime (INR 3200) vs Rimmel Stay Matte Primer (INR 1250)
What’s Similar : Both come in similar matte finish which helps the makeup stay longer. Also, they form a smooth base for the skin in order to prep it with the foundation after that.
What’s Not : MAC Prep & Prime stays on for much longer than the Rimmel one. But the Rimmel one is a bit more moisturising than the MAC one. MAC one is meant only for the oily skinned beauties.
5. MAC Ruby Woo (INR 1500) vs Rimmel Kate Matte lipstick in Kiss of life 111 (INR 500)
What’s Similar : Both are deep red with blue undertones in them.
What’s Not : RUBY WOO is very matte with slightly drying formula whereas Rimmel one is a bit moisturising. Also, once ruby woo sets it is impossible to smear.
What’s Similar : Both come in the form of a pen packaging. The formula is creamy which targets to brighten the under eye area.
What’s Not : YSL has a huge shade option of 10 whereas Maybelline has only 3 shade options. Also, touché éclat has limited coverage as compared to the Maybelline one.
7. Smashbox Photofinish Primer (INR 5625) vs NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer (INR 2450)
What’s Similar : Both help in minimizing the appearance of pores and filling them. This makes the makeup look refined and smooth. Even the ingredient list of both of them are somewhat identical.
What’s Not : The Smashbox one makes face greasy after some time. Whereas the NYX one ensures that your makeup stays perfect even by the end of the day.
8. Beautyblender (INR 1999) vs Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (INR 380)
What’s Similar : Both of them are designed in an ergonomic manner to give your foundation a much more even finish.
What’s Not : The Real Techniques one has flat end which makes the application around the eye area easier. Whereas the beautyblender blends foundation way better and quicker that the other one.
9. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (INR 2800) vs Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (INR 195)
What’s Similar : Both of them are so finely milled that excess product also will not make your face look ashy or powdery.
What’s Not : Rimmel one is a bit drying as compared to the MAC one. In winters you cannot use the Rimmel one even with a moisturiser underneath as it will accentuate your pores and cause dry flakes on your face.
What’s Similar : Both of them have similar ingredient list and thus the formula is similar.
What’s Not : The MoroccanOil Treatment is more moisturising for dry hair. It imparts shine and lustre much more than the Organix One.

Who would have thought that a leading Bollywood lady would don a bikini given the holier-than-thou and ultra-conservative setup of our society in the 60s- a time when even the vamp’s (dressed in a saree) viciousness had to be manifested by the rhythmic raising of her brows?
It took Sharmila Tagore a Filmfare shoot to mellow down the shame/discomfort in sporting one. A trailblazer in the truest sense of the word, she took everyone by storm when she sported a tow- piece on the cover of Filmfare. It was in 1967. Roughly, half a century later and we have B-town actresses sporting bikinis well relative ease 🙂 A great many of them not just sport it but in fact, sizzle in it compelling both men and women to drool uncontrollably. On that note, let us have a look at those B-town ladies who manage to set temperatures soaring with their bikini avatars.
1. DEEPIKA PADUKONE- Touted as the ‘Bollywood Actress with the Best Body’, it is no surprise that Deepika makes it to the list. Do I even need to expatiate a bit on why? Just look at her. 6. ADITI RAO HYDARI- Cuteness is the epithet for Aditi any day. With a heart-warming smile, doe-shaped eyes and pert persona, Aditi resembles a typical girl next door but she magically turns into the seductive diva as she dons a bikini. That is one heck of a transformation but who’s complaining? 😀
7. LARA DUTTA- If there was anything remotely memorable about the movie- Blue, it has to be the visuals of the sultry and exotic Lara Dutta sauntering beaches and swaying underwater. Her sun-kissed skin added an exquisite touch to her bikini avatar. Sensual, exotic, sultry, mesmerising, captivating… keep the adjectives coming. It’s Miss Universe Lara Dutta after all!

While we sing paeans in the honour of eyes for they are appositely called “The windows to one’s soul”, there is another part of ours that exudes sensuality in an unprecedented way. KATRINA KAIF- To those who don’t know, in De Dana Dan (an Akshay-Katrina starrer comedy flick), a special song was added (yes, the ones whose stills you are feasting your eyes to) to bank upon this on-screen couple’s sizzling chemistry. While the lesser we say with regards to the flick, the better but we surely do not disapprove the person(s) whose idea it was 🙂 After all, we got to see that this Hong-Kong born lady has a back that tantalises one to the T.

6. ANUSHKA SHARMA- Ms. Sharma who redefines pertness, vivaciousness and ebullience is not just a storehouse of energy and youth but also the proud owner of a sultry back that is well- flaunted here by her.

And when swathed in Desi apparel, those possessions get highlighted like never before. Tinseltown stood testimony to the launch of Mr. Prakash Padukone’s daughter opposite SRK. It was the perfect launch vehicle. To top it all, the movie was clashing with Sanjay Leela Bhansaali’s Sawariya which starred two star kids. So, the competition had some teeth in it too. The release date arrived. The box office stated its verdict. OSO thrashed Sawariya point blank and the leading lady of the former became an overnight sensation. Despite bagging almost all the Best Female Debut awards that year, her acting skills were limited and were panned by critics for long. 3. LET’S GO BLING- For another promotional event for Bajirao Mastani, Deepika opted for a monochrome striped blouse with a gold sequined pencil skirt. A studded belt from ASOS and cage sandals rounded her look out. To top it all, her poker straight hair looked chic and upped her glam quotient by leaps and bounds.
4. A LITTLE MORE BLING NEVER HURTS- Taking the bling look ahead, Deepika donned a pair of ripped bling jeans with a casual sweatshirt for the least leg of promotions of Bajirao Mastani. With her hair tied in a ponytail and s pair of heels, she sashayed as the shutterbugs tried to get a glimpse of this leggy lass. This look is apt for parties if you wish to break free from the monotony of one-piece dresses 🙂

GOING CASUAL WITH TUNICS- Keeping it casual and comfy during the Pune promotional tour of Bajirao Mastani, Deepika breezed through the scorching heat in a casual light grey tunic with distressed white pants, gold-tone jewelry,a brown belt, and animal-print ballerinas. It looks comfy and would make for an ideal pick for a casual day out with friends when the Sun is leaving no stone unturned to toast you
6. WITH TRIBAL JEWELLERY- Deepika gives one major fashion goals with this ochre Mango shift dress paired with a fringed Stradivarius vest that she donned for the promotions of Tamasha. The tribal jewellery is the perfect finishing touch.
7. IN MICHAEL KORS- The leading lady of Tamasha defines the art of chic dressing as she opts for a midi-length Michael Kors dress with Steve Madden heels. Add to that, her fresh as a daisy skin tone and you are sure to be smitten, aren’t you?

Starting with the Sugar Lipstick, I am very happy to get this one in this month’s bag, I think I had got one earlier in March or April when they had launched, the shade was Mad Magenta. This time I got a chance to pick the shade and I went with Peachy Little Liars, they have added two new shades, one this and the other red.
I absolutely love the shade, it’s not a peach but more of a pink brown nude. I will be posting a pic wearing that on my Instagram soon.
Neemli Naturals Bengal Gram exfoliator is a clay based face pack which needs to be rubbed after it days, so that it even exfoliates skin. It is on the lines of a ubtan, and can be used both for the face and body. Though it is very expensive to be used for the body and you will need the whole pack for one time use, I will be sticking to using it for the face. It has multani mitti, turmeric, gram flour, rice flour and sandalwood powder.
I have the Johara Instant Radiance face scrub before (full review HERE) and quite like it, this sample is very tiny though, but this is good for travel and might last 3 uses.
I have never tried Pep Moisture Velvet Shampoo, this has Oat Proteins and claims to make hair very soft and manageable in few uses. This 50 ml bottle should last 7-8 uses, again perfect for travel. I am looking forward to trying this out.

1. Kangana Ranaut – The queen actress turned vegan as soon as she landed into Mumbai. She said that it has brought a lot of positivity in her life.
2. Shahid Kapoor – He got inspired by the book “Life is fair” by Brian Hines. He said in an interview that this book was gifted to him by his father Mr. Pankaj Kapoor. This actor is believed to have inspired a lot of celebs to turn vegetarian
3. Kareena Kapoor – Being from a healthy Punjabi family eating non veg was part of her lifestyle. But she gave up non veg food owing to healthy influence by her ex beau Shahid Kapoor. Even after their love saga ended she continues to remain vegan till date.
4. Aamir Khan – The perfectionist of bollywood is perfectionist here too. Once his present wife Kiran Rao showed her a video of 15 most common diseases which costs life and how they can be prevented after which he got hooked to vegan eating and never turned back.
5. Vidya Balan – She has been following a vegan diet and lifestyle since her birth. Few years ago her dietitian suggested her to have eggs but after some time she left eggs again and turned into a full vegetarian again.
6. Amitabh Bachchan – The mega star of bollywood has been vegetarian since a no. of years. And he has also been nominated by the PETA three times for being the hottest vegan celebrity.
7. Vidyut Jamval – This hot bodied actor has been vegan since he was 14 years old. He even mentioned once how his concentration has improved since he turned vegan
8. Neha Dhupia – The actress was going through health troubles some years ago. Her doctors suggested her to turn vegetarian and she did. She turned a complete vegetarian and was also named by PETA for the Asia Pacific sexiest vegetarian woman 2011.
9. Celina Jatley – In 2013 there was a 21 day vegan kickstart program which she joined with other celebrities. After which she turned vegetarian
10. Alia Bhatt – It seems that her real life inspiration Kareena Kapoor was the one who inspired her to become vegetarian. And looks like the youngest Bhatt daughter is not going back anytime soon.
