Kalki Fashion’s SS’19 Zinnia Collection

Kalki Fashion’s SS’19 Zinnia Collection

Hi guys,

Kalki Fashion unveiled its SS’19 Collection, ‘ZINNIA’ – The Modern Romanticism at the Bombay Times Fashion Week last month.

Zinnia flowers are the colorful annuals that have a rich history to match their rich colors. Hence, taking inspiration from the flower’s originality, the collection showcases an array of multi-colors and hues. It is filled with modern and eclectic silhouettes in a vivid colour palette.

Zinnia Collection is perfect for summer weddings with painterly hues of summer fog blues, mighty mauves, the lime greens, the spicy mustards, the fuchsia pinks and the fiery reds putting in inventive spin to your wedding closet staples from floor-sweeping jacket styles to voluminous shararas, from the quirkiest bridal lehengas to monotone red veil lehengas.

This collection features beautiful gowns, lehengas, palazzo suits, crop tops and shararas in interesting silhouettes, frills, layers with ornate embroidery, feathers, stones, etc.

Each garment is carefully hand crafted to create the perfect outfits for your mehendi soirees, a perfect garden party, a dreamy destination theme, or a traditional summer wedding. The embroideries talk diamond shapes layered upon rich silks, flowers quilted with stripes on opulent organza, bordered with miniature geometric conception with studs and summer sequins. The playfully proportioned silhouettes are enhanced in unconventional elements with strip embroideries, thread ties, featherweight crystal embellishments and 3D flower burst.

The Zinnia collection is distinctly dainty and eccentric, celebrating the creative needs and expressions of the woman who wears it.

Some of my favourite pieces from the Zinnia Collection..

Kalki Fashion's SS'19 Zinnia Collection

1. Malaika Arora’s red gown

Malaika Arora was the showstopper for the collection and wore this beautiful, ruby red gown accentuated with feathers and detailed embroidery.

2. French Pink Multi Embroidered Kameez with Long Flared Sharara

I love everything about this sharara, the colour, silhouette, embroidery. It’s perfect for a day wedding function.

3. Citrus Green Double Layer Palazzo with Strapless Bustier and Long Embroidered Net Cape

This green hand embroidered strapless bustier embellished with multi color resham, cut dana, sequins and zari work is paired with a double layered georgette palazzo and tassels at the edges. It is teamed with a matching long embroidered net cape with back trail. This outfit is absolutely perfect for a mehendi function.

I love the colours, silhouettes and all the designs from Kalki Fashion’s Zinnia Collection, which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.

These gold earrings are made of metal alloy and embellished with pearl work by Designer Label Amara. Choose a statement piece from our collection of dangler earrings which is easy enough to build an outfit around. How stunning is this pair! No matter which part of India you belong to, mehendi is a must have thing for the brides except for few traditions. Mehendi has been a part of marriages since time immemorial and there is a reason why the bride applied mehendi or henna on her hand. Firstly, weddings are stressful and tiring and applying henna, which is a very powerful medicinal herb, helps to cure the headache.

It cools the body and keeps the nerves from becoming tense. This is the reason why mehndi is applied on the hands and feet, which house nerve endings in the body. It is also antiseptic and protect from viral diseases. Further, improves blood circulation in the body and improves general health.

It is also considered to be a sign of good luck and festive occasion. Traditionally, it says that mehendi has a rich smell that act as a powerful aphrodisiac and boosts the romance in the initial days of wedding. It is better to use the pure and herbal mehendi or henna which is derived from plants to be used on hands. Chemical ones often causes irritation and contains toxic chemicals in it. • Make sure the hands are dry when you are applying the henna or mehendi.
  • Make a juice of lemon and sugar syrup or powdered sugar. The mixture will be sticky but this will give a glorious color to the hands and shine as well.
  • You can also warm the hands under a light or heated box.

And hair reverse tiara hairstyle is done.

2. Side braid hairstyle – Blow dry the hair and do a side Dutch braid along the side till the back. Secure the end with a bobby pin. Now, for the rest of the hair, simply curl and tug them with bobby pins to give an illusion of volume. Make sure all the tugging is on one side to give an impression of side bun. Lastly, put 3-4 floral pins to decorate the look and use a hairspray to make sure the hair is kept safely.

3. Low bun with accessories – Well, you can create low bun with short hair as well! Simply straighten the hair (simple straight and not poker one) and middle part the hair. Give a sleek look and bring all the hair in the back, forming a low pony. Now, divide the pony into several parts. Take a single potion, roll it and tug with a bobby pin. Similarly, follow this up for other parts as well. Now, add the shown accessories from the front to the back side, forming a half crescent on both the sides. Use a hairspray to finish the hairstyle and a pretty bridal hairstyle is done.

1. Matha patti hairstyle – Matha patti is a very popular hair accessory for bride and has been used in various bridal occasions. Well, you can incorporate a traditional Matha patti and create a gorgeous hairstyle for yourself. This is best for medium hair length. Blow dry the hair well to create a natural volume. Now, middle part the hair slightly and tease the crown area and create a puff there. Secure it nicely with bobby pins. Now, for the rest of the hair, simply curl them and let it be loose. Types of Bajubands/Armlets

Types of Bajubands/Armlets

Hi guys,

I am talking about one more piece of jewellery today i.e. bajubands or armlets. There are number of different varieties of armlets available.

You can choose to go with a heavier one or a lighter one, depending on your outfit or occasion. You get them in pearl, kundan, simple basic ones, heavy ones with latkans, etc.

I recently came across this jewellery website gold24.in and loved their bajubands collection (you can see them here https://gold24.in/products/costume-bajuband). Some of my picks:

1. This gorgeous armlet/bajuband designed exclusively by Traditsiya is everything you need to stand out in an upcoming wedding. Pair it up with a saree, anarkali or a lehenga, it will help complete the Indian look by making your arms look graceful.

2. This one is made with alloy and has 22K gold plating. The kundan, emerald and ruby are set very well together in a tear drop pattern. I like the fact that it is broad and thick for heavier arms, something for people like me. This one is not meant for skinny arms.

3. This one is heavier with ghungroo and latkans. If you are a bride to be, this is perfect for you. A blend of pearl, kundan, emerald, ruby, diamond and golden ghungroos. Again 22K gold plated.

4. A basic, simple one that would work with almost all Indian outfits and even some Indo-western fusion wear. The best thing about these adjustable ones are that one size fits all and you can also use these as a choker. Chokers are IN these days, so this works in multiple ways 😀

You can even find simple pearl string ones to just a plain kundan lining one, which can work with any outfit, and not require color coordination.

I absolutely love baju bands, they make your arms look very elegant and graceful. And all girls should have atleast 1-2 bajubands/armlets in their stash.

What do you think of baju bands? Do you like them?
