Hairstyles for the Festive Season

HAIRSTYLE GUIDE FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON

So the much-awaited festivities have begun! This season, instead of wearing your hair the usual boring way try these easy-to-do, yet ultra chic hair-do’s picked by Najeeb Ur Rehman, (PPS Manager, Schwarzkopf Professional India) that will help channel the inner diva in you!

Mr. Najeeb Ur Rehman says “These looks are very stylish as well as easy to do. Big hair is sure to grab the attention at evening parties. Chignons, quiffs, plaits, ponytails, glamour curls or teased back hair work especially well as high-volume styles with or without hair jewellery are trending.”

1.Pretty plaits

Plaits are always a winner at festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali etc as they are easy to do, go well with any outfit and can easily be kept and taken out to reveal wavy locks for day two!

Get the look
Ø  Start by using a smoothening shampoo like BC Bonacure smooth and shine range then prep the hair with a flattening spray like OSiS Flatliner and blow dry smooth to ensure hair is tangle free.
Ø  Leaving a few strands at the front, part the hair deep on one side and begin two plaits from either side of the parting. Try the French plait technique to add texture and secure on the head to survive all degrees of head bopping!
Ø  Work each plait towards the back of the head until they meet near the nape and tie the ends into a messy bun. Finish with some Firm Hold Hairspray like OSiS  Freeze or Session Spray for ultra strong styling.

2.Messy chignon

Try the very fashionable messy chignon for an easy-to-do yet elegant up-do.

Get the look
Ø  Gently pull back the hair into a ponytail in the middle of the head at the back and back comb the ponytail loosely with a wide tooth comb.
Ø  Then use pins and grips to fix the lengths of the ponytail back into the base, creating a messy chignon. For a variation, try pinning to one side to create an on trend asymmetrical style.
Ø  Leave the front natural or gently curled. For an all-over messy effect use OSiS Mess Up Matt Gum  for an ultimate finish.

3.Vintage updo

The retro style updo is perfect for a stylish day look and disguising greasy locks resulted from the previous night.

Get the look

Ø  Apply OSiS Upload volume Cream into damp hair and scrunch dry 1980s style – do this with your head upside down to get loads of body into it.
Ø  Once dry backcomb all the roots and twist the back and pin into a messy French plait.
Ø  Next wrap a rolled up head scarf behind the ears, over the crown and tie off to one side – leaving your fringe out
Ø  To finish, spray with OSiS  Session strong hold styling Spray.

5 Hairstyles You Can Do in Under 5 Minutes

5 Hairstyles You Can Do in Under 5 Minutes

No Heat Waves

Spending time with a curling iron or hot rollers defeats the purpose of effortless, beachy waves. Rhys has four easy steps to creating chic waves like Nicole Richie’s without plugging in a single styling tool.

Wash your hair the day before you plan to wear the style. Apply a light-hold gel to damp hair and comb through to evenly saturate each strand.
Next, section hair into quadrants: two in the front of your head, and two in the back.
Wrap each quadrant into a bun and secure with a hair elastic. “Place your buns in the back off to either side, or right behind your ears, so you can still sleep comfortably on the back of your head,” Rhys recommends.
Finally, take down all four buns in the morning, mist hair with hairspray, and use your hands to lightly shake out your new waves from the roots to the ends.

Harajuku High Bun

High buns aren’t just for ballerinas anymore. But this bun is fuller, looser, and more fun than the severe, pulled-back styles you might see on a dancer. The result is a look like Vanessa Hudgens’s that Rhys says is “cute yet high fashion” and a surprisingly easy hairstyle to create.
Tilt your head forward to collect hair at the top of your crown (the high point at the back of your head). Use a boar bristle brush to gather hair into a tight ponytail.
Pull the hair in the ponytail forward, and spray with hairspray. Then, lift the tail of your ponytail straight up and back comb, or tease, to create soft texture and volume. “This will create a perfect contrast of smooth and messy hair textures,” Rhys says.
Loosely wrap ponytail around the hair elastic. Secure with bobby pins and mist with hairspray.

The London Flip

This is a quick trick that Jennifer Aniston wears well. It’s an easy way to add volume and texture to fine, long hair that tends to fall straight, Rhys says. Use it to extend and refresh a sleek blow-out. The result is a classy, tousled look that’s super easy to achieve.
First, flip your head upside down and spray dry hair with a light hair spray.
Next, create a deep side part extending about four inches back from your forehead. Then wrap large sections of hair (about 2 inches wide) from about ear level to the ends around a large-barrel curling iron.
Alternate the direction of curls of each section for a soft and natural movement.
Mist each curled section with hairspray and gently shake loose.

Boho Braids

Forget any Pippi Longstocking images braids bring to mind. Tiny braids can look both glamorous and sexy (exhibit A: Blake Lively). Best of all, Rhys says, this works for any hair texture— straight, wavy, or curly hair—and the braids can be as thin (or thick) as you want them to be.
Starting with dry hair, work a drop of shine serum through hair. Make a natural part and section out one small chunk of hair toward the front of your head on each side. (You don’t need to be symmetrical for this to work.)
Braid each section close to the head and fasten each with a clear hair elastic.
Pull the braids together at the back of the head and secure with bobby pins.

The Sleek Ponytail

To beat heat and frizz, “never underestimate a ponytail,” Rhys says. “While the ponytail has always been a go-to style for any girl in a time crunch, you can make it modern instead of lazy with this sleek and smooth pony makeover like Ciara’s.”
Start by misting dry hair with a light-hold hairspray. Then use a flat iron to smooth your hair from root to ends.
Use a fine-tooth comb to create a center part that ends about three inches from your forehead. Smooth frizz and flyaways with a boar bristle brush.
Collect your hair loosely in your hand about two inches above the nape of your neck and fasten it securely with a hair elastic.

11.Cut Blunt Bangs

Give extra-long locks an instant update with freshly cropped fringe like Kate Beckinsale’s. Tell your stylist to snip the center pieces so they fall right below your eyebrows, while the outer ones should be slightly longer.

12.Pull It All Back

A little bit of height in the front and some pieces sticking out in the back prevent Kristen Stewart’s bun from looking too severe. Tease the roots by your forehead before sweeping all of your hair back into a mid-level pony. Wrap the tail into a bun, leaving out the ends.

13.Choose Bold Accessories

Decorate long locks with an eye-catching headband. The multiband gold version Nicole Richie is wearing here is from her new collection, House of Harlow 1960.

14.Make Curls Look Touchable

Last season’s stiff ribbon curls are out. What’s hot right now are the big, silky spirals you see here on Eva Longoria. Start with a shine-enhancing cream like L’Oréal Vive Pro Glossy Style Smooth Gloss Anti-Frizz Cream. Wrap sections of hair from the ears down around a large curling iron. Once your hair cools down, gently run a brush through the curls.

15.Keep It Down with a Twist

Want Lauren Conrad’s boho look? Grab two thin sections a few inches back from your hairline, twist, and secure with pins at the back of your head. For her glossy waves, use a jumbo curling iron.

16.Trick Camera Lenses

For hair that gleams like Emily Blunt’s, apply a light shine serum before and after blow-drying. Use a spray version if you have fine hair and be sure to keep the stuff away from your roots. Our pick: L’Oréal Studio Shine Seeker Glass Shine.

17.Bump Up the Back

Always a trendsetter, Sienna Miller works a creative half-updo. Part your hair down the middle and leave the front section loose and wavy. Tease the hair at your crown, then make a ponytail at the nape of your neck

18.Get Surfer-Girl Waves

Mary-Kate Olsen’s beachy look can be easily re-created on dry land. Just mist hair from with a wave-making salt-infused styler, then twist small pieces around your fingers to shape. Our favorite: Sunsilk Waves of Envy Sea Mist.

19.Go Glam with Your Curls

To get Alicia Keys’s beautiful spirals, make a deep side part, then wrap sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron. Smooth a few drops of shine serum over the curls. Our pick: Pantene Pro-V Frizz Control Extra Strength Serum.

20.Sex Up Your Layers

Draw attention to a layered haircut like Gabrielle Union’s by using a medium-sized round brush to flick your ends in and out while you blow-dry.

20 Sexy Ideas for Long Hair

20 Sexy Ideas for Long Hair

An article in Cosmopolitan I found worth sharing..20 different chic hairstyles for long hair..

1.Pair Wavy Strands with Straight Bangs

Soft, loose curls are still really hot, but if you’re looking to switch up this look just a bit, keep your bangs or shorter face-framing pieces sleek like Reese Witherspoon does here. The effect works best if your fringe is long and wispy.

2.Fire Up Your Flatiron

Super-sleek strands like Ciara’s are back. To prevent your hair from sizzling in your flatiron, use a protective styling spray before you clamp down. We love Got2b Guardian Angel Protect N’ Blow Out Lotion and Gloss Finish.

3.Keep It Loose

Jessica Biel’s half-up style looks so sexy because it’s tousled and not too perfect. Rub body-building mousse through damp strands, blow-dry, then pull them back at ear level and secure with bobby pins. Try Jonathan Create Volume Thickening Foam.

4. Try a Simple Bun

Jessica Stroup’s chic updo is simple to pull off. Blow-dry hair straight, part it to one side, then make a low ponytail. Coil the length of the pony around the base and secure the knot with pins.

5.Enhance Your Natural Texture

Blake Lively has some seriously sexy waves. Dampen hair from roots to ends with a texturizing spray like Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel before blow-drying, then wrap random sections around a 1-inch curling iron

6.Sling Your Bun to One Side

For Becki Newton’s playful chignon, part your hair to one side and twist it into a big, loose bun about an inch above the nape of your neck. If you have really fine or naturally straight hair, add texture before you put it up with a mousse like Garnier Fructis Body Boost Volumizing Mousse, then blow-dry with a diffuser.

7.Break Up Your Curls with Color

Beyoncé’s curls look extra-gorgeous thanks to some randomly placed caramel-hued highlights. Ask your colorist to brighten a few pieces around your face as well as some chunks at your ends. Or go at it yourself with L’Oréal Feria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Color.

8. Do a Flirty Ponytail

Eva Mendes’s pony is easy and super-cute. The trick: Tease your roots around the crown of your head to get some lift before you pull your hair back. For extra oomph, fluff up the length of the pony with a flexible-hold spray like Herbal Essences Set Me Up Extra Hold Hair Spray.

9. Flirt with a Shoulder-Length Style

Want to fake shorter strands? Set long hair in big, hot rollers for super-bouncy curls that temporarily shorten your locks by a couple of inches like Amy Adams did here. Try Conair Instant Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo Hot Rollers.

10.Go for an Easy Updo

Updos look sexiest when they’re not too “done.” Case in point: Hilary Duff’s falling-down style. To get it, leave your face-framing pieces down, then gather the rest of your hair into a low, super-loose chignon.
