L’Oreal Paris #BoldInGold Collection Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

L’Oreal Paris launched the new Bold in Gold Collection and I have the entire collection consisting of an eyeshadow palette, 7 lipsticks and 2 nail paints.

I have been trying these out since 3-4 days and here are my thoughts..

Have also done a video on the same..

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold La Palette

Claims: La Palette Gold consists of a unique selection of 10 exclusive shimmer shades, from subtle pinks to bold, shimmery golds and purples that allow you to unleash your creative side and create multiple glamorous eye looks for every occasion.

MRP: Rs.1450/- 

It comes in the usual L’Oreal Paris La Palette packaging with a brush and sponge on each end and a mirror. The shades are all satin/shimmer finish and very pigmented.

All these swatches are two swipes each. There is a stunning olive green, warm bright gold, bronze pink, champagne, white gold, deep navy blue, aqua blue, gray and sea green.

I created this olive green and gold halo smokey eye with this palette. The shadows work better with fingers and I did not get the desired pigmentation with brushes. I tried different brushes but none transferred the product on the lids and finally I used my fingers.

Also there are no matte crease/blending shades in this palette and hence you will have to use it with some other shadows/palette for those shades.

The palette is not very travel friendly as one side of the shadow plate had come off when I opened it as the glue wasn’t enough on one side. It will shatter if dropped even once, so be careful with that.

I love the shades though and all are stunning and bright with decent pigmentation. I do recommend this palette, but you will have to use a base underneath as they blend sheer. I am not sure if it is Limited Edition, or wait for it to go on discount.

Coming to the Color Riche Lipsticks,

Scarlet Gold– Beautiful cool toned cherry red

Coral Gold– Orangey coral but not neonish

Mocha Gold- Deep wine

Le Gold- Bright gold

Rouge Gold- Warm toned bright red

Rose Gold- Muted rosy pink

Plum Gold- Deep grape

All the shades have very fine shimmer (except Le Gold which has a lot of visible shimmer) and give a glossy, wet look to the lips. These are very, very pigmented and super moisturising on the lips. Be careful while applying, coz they literally melt in touch with lips and it might bleed. Make sure to powder around the lips well.

Love the gold packaging and each lipstick has the name of the L’Oreal Paris Ambassador, same as with the Reds and Pinks collection earlier.

I am so glad these are very wearable and do not have frosty, shimmery finish. I don’t like metallic or frosty finish lipsticks. Also the shimmer is hardly visible and they make for great shades to wear normally.

I love the Coral Gold, Rose Gold and Plum Gold. Also Le Gold is a nice shade to own to mix and match or wear as a topper.

I created this ombre lip with Le Gold and Plum Gold.

Also there are two nail paints in this collection, Violet Vendome which is a beautiful plum grape and Coral Trianon, a bright coral. I feel there should have been a bright metallic gold nail paint too, in this collection. The nail paints are priced at Rs.350/- each

I will update the pics wearing the nail paints in this post.

Overall I do recommend this range and I love all three products i.e. the eye shadow palette, lipsticks and nail paints in this collection. The range is available on Nykaa right now, and soon will be available on Amazon and other websites.

I got a few things from Feelunique.com a few months ago. I had filmed this video earlier but if you don’t already know, I have got a fracture recently and hence it took some time to edit, etc.,

About Feelunique: Feelunique is a UK based website which stocks all international brands from Real Techniques, Sleek MakeUP, NYX, Maybelline, Benefit, theBalm, Rimmel London, etc. They have 1000’s of brands under them. They offer free shipping all over the world above £60 and £15 shipping below that. But even if you buy 2-3 items, you can easily cross £60.

Also they have a lot of offers from time to time and free Gifts with Purchases. Only disadvantage I would say is customs and since that is not fixed or cannot be determined, it is a bit of risk.

I got 6 items out of which one item was missing. I paid Rs 950/- customs on rest of the 5 items. Let’s see what all I got..

And the item which went missing was the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick. I wanted all of these items since a really long time! They were on my wishlist! And I am so glad I got these.

Maybelline India Blushed Nudes Palette Review, Swatches, Tutorial

I have been playing with The Blushed Nudes Palette and also created this look you see here.

What the Company claims: With all the things you’ll love about the new Blushed Nudes Palette, here are a few more:
– 12 rose-gold infused shades
– Easily blend-able
– Creates countless looks
– Compliments every skin tone

MRP: Rs.899/- for 9g

They have 13 different eye shadow combinations given behind, same like in the original Nudes, and that’s a very interesting idea. I can’t wait to try some of these looks.

The packaging of the palette is exactly like the original Nudes Palette and the pricing is also the same. It comes with a small applicator which has a sponge tip on one side and a brush on one side. The brush is pretty good for using in the inner corners or highlighting brow bone.

The palette is quite handy and small to carry along. It does not come with a mirror sadly, I would have loved a mirror.

The original Nudes Palette had all warm shades and more of browns, this palette has more pinks and grays and all cool toned shades. While the original Nudes Palette was supposed to pretty similar shades wise to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, this one the Blushed Nudes is very close shade wise to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

If you follow me on Snapchat (bhumika_t), you must have seen a comparision of this palette with the same one in US and the shades are quite different, a lot of you took screenshot of that image coz the palette was quite different. I believe the US palette has more pinks and mauves and lighter shades and those shades might not show up on all Indian skintones, so they kept more of greys and darker shades in the Indian palette.

There are mostly satin finish shades, with one deep plum shade being shimmery and there are two mattes. One is a greyish taupe shade which is not that pigmented and the other is a matte white shade which is pretty decent.

Most of the shades are pretty pigmented while few are not that good and need a lot of layering for the colors to show up. But they stay on pretty good throughout the day once applied, more longer with a primer. They do not crease but the finish is not as fresh and slightly fade at the end of the day.

The top row has all whites, peaches and pinks

The bottom row has greys, taupes and purples.

I created this pink smokey eye look with this palette..

Overall I would say, this is a decent palette and worth checking out. We do not have many palette options available in India, and hardly any cool toned or pink-gray based. For the price, this is definitely pretty good. I do recommend this.

Finally the review. Its the most beautiful and gorgeous palette I won! And trust me, I own many :p But what can beat chocolate?! It looks like a chocolate bar and all the eyeshadows smell like chocolate too! Like what more would one need.

It has 16 shades from the nudes,beige to browns,purples,etc. The pigmentation is beyond amazing, I just touched the eyeshadow for swatches and I got real powder pigment coming out. The metallic and satin finish needed just a small touch not even a complete swipe for swatch. Matte shades in any palette are not usually very pigmented. But not here, the mattes are rich and pigmented too especially the browns. 1-2 matte shades out of the entire 16 would be a bit less pigmented. But none are chalky or dry, all the shadows are super creamy.

It comes with a guide for three different eye makeup looks.

They stay for a good 6-7 hours even without a primer and more so with a primer. I think this palette has all the shades one would ever need, unless you are a ‘brights’ person. I am a neutral lover and this one is just perfect for me. I reach for it all the time even though I have other palettes including Too Faced Palettes.

Gilded Ganache: Satin finish darkened chocolate brown with gold shimmer

White Chocolate: Matte pale beige for highlighting the brow bone

Salted Caramel: Matte medium peachy brown

Marzipan: Warm peach with frosted metallic finish

Semi Sweet: Matte medium brown with red undertones

Hazelnut: Medium golden bronze with metallic finish

Creme Brulee: Darkened molten gold with rich,metallic finish. One of the best in the palette

Haute Chocolate: Dark chocolate brown with red undertones and frost finish

Right:

Milk Chocolate: Matte medium brown, its almost my skin shade. Good for blending.

Black Forest Truffle: Burgundy brown with burgundy and bronzer shimmer

Triple Fudge: Matte deep dark brown

Strawberry Bon Bon: Matte cool toned light pink

Candied Violet: Smoky violet with blue and pink shimmer

Amaretto: Frost warm toned medium brown with red undertones

Cherry Cordial: Matte plumy brown with some flecks of shimmer

Champagne Truffle: Off white with a golden sheen and metallic finish. Perfect for inner corners of eyes.

I think this is one perfect palette for everyone and a must have. All the necessary shades you will ever need. Carry only this for your holiday, weddings,etc and you are sorted. Highly recommended!

How to: Create mysterious eyes:

Gold Souk can be applied on the eye lid as a base for every look

Blend darker shades Valley of Diamonds or 1001 Nights along the eye socket to contour and add definition to your eyes.

Top Row:

Scheherazade’s Tale: Satin finish rosy bronze. Almost cream like finish.

Gold Souk: Metallic yellow gold with glittery finish. You need to pat and layer it like you do with pigments.

Aladdin’s Lamp: Pigmented frost finish deep bronze brown.

Valley of Diamonds: Matte wine with gold shimmer. Slightly dry

1001 Nights: Cream Finish Rich Black. Highly pigmented.

Overall I would say its an amazing palette to own coz of its perfect mix of matte, shimmer, warm, neutral shades and finishes. Though 1-2 shades are drier and repeated, rest all are pretty amazing. And at this price point, definitely a must have. Sleek MakeUP nails it every single time! I love most of the i-Divines coz of the themes, colors, shades, pigmentation, price. If you are a lover of smokey eyes, this one is not to miss! Highly recommended.

Basically these are cool toned neutrals..and a mix of matte and satin shadows..

1st row:

Naked: Matte Beige..almost invisible on the skin
Devotion: Light Gold
Shy: Light Silver
Fiery: Copper
Lavish: Matte Taupe
Dreamy: Bronze Brown

2nd row:

Tranquil: Cool toned old gold
Exposed: Light silver grey
Reveal: Cool toned silver
Wink: Bronze with purple undertones

Corrupt: Matte black..very dry in texture..

Pros:

1. Super economical.
2. Perfect cool toned neutrals.
3. Great for everyday wear and work wear.
4. Mix of satin and matte.
5. Shades complement each other well.
6. Decent pigmentation..especially of the satin finish.
7. Stays for 5-6 hours and longer with a primer.
8. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Dupe..at a much lesser price !

Cons:

1. Matte shades are dry and not that pigmented.
2. Availability is an issue..needs to be ordered online.

Overall I love the shades..and the combination..its a nice everyday use palette..Highly recommend.
