Top 10 MAC Eye shadows for Indian Skin Tones | Indian Bridal Makeup Kit

Top 10 MAC Eye shadows for Indian Skin Tones | Indian Bridal Makeup Kit

Top 10 MAC Eye shadows for Indian Skin Tones | Indian Bridal Makeup Kit

Hi guys,

I have been planning to write this post since a long time. I wanted to jot down my favourite and best MAC eye shadows, which are an absolute must have in your kit. If you a bride-to-be or just a new makeup artist, I would definitely recommend starting with these 10 at first as they are a must have!

1. MAC Bronze eye shadow

This is my favourite eye shadow in MAC. I believe they had discontinued it in between for some time, now they have launched it again as a part of the MACxMickeyContractor collection and now it should remain permanent I guess. It is one shadow that can help you create a bronze smokey eye in a minute. You won’t need any other shadow except this and your kohl. That’s it. It works for weddings, parties, everywhere. Highly recommend this!

2. MAC Expensive pink eye shadow

Now this shade works really well on Indian skin tones. It’s a perfect peachy pink mixed with gold. It goes with every Indian ethnic outfit, especially day time functions. It gives a nice wash of colour on the lids, you can just blend it with a basic brown in the crease and you are good to go. Love this shade!

3. MAC Goldmine

Goldmine is a true warm yellow gold. If you have a lot of gold in your outfits, then this one is great to pair them with.

4. MAC Antiqued

Antiqued is a medium reddish brown with warm undertones. Again a shade you can do an entire look with on it’s own. And perfect for Indian ethnic wear.

5. MAC Embark

It is a deep matte brown. It’s a perfect outer V colour to create that smokey effect and define the eyes. It can also be used to fill in eyebrows for Indian skin tones.

6. MAC Sketch eye shadow

This is a deep burgundy plum shade, perfect for night time and receptions/wedding parties. You can create a gorgeous plum smokey eye with this one.

7. MAC Woodwinked eye shadow

Woodwinked is another light gold bronze that is a must have, and perfect for brides/bridal kit/weddings. A soft wash of colour on entire lid or as a center colour for halo effect with Fix+. This one is light compared to Bronze and you can pull it off easily, even if you are new to eye shadows.

8. MAC Satin Taupe eye shadow

It’s an everyday taupe shade with a satin finish. A perfect day time colour, you can wear it for work too if you like a wash of taupe on the eyes. A basic, everyday wear shade, that’s too not OTT.

9. MAC Amber Lights eye shadow

Again a gold copper with orange undertones. A beautiful shade to pair with Indian ethnic wear and perfect for brides/weddings.

10. MAC Ricepaper eye shadow

This is one highlight colour that you need in your kit. Whether highlighting the brow bone or inner corners of the eyes, this one will work with all eye shadow looks

I will cheat and add one more, MAC Soft Brown. You need this for blending in shadows in the crease as a transitional shade.

I hope you liked this list, if you are looking for investing in MAC eye shadows, I would definitely recommend starting with these. Also let me know if you would like a similar list for Inglot, as Inglot has many dupes of MAC 😉

PAC Colorlock Longlasting Lipliners & Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches

PAC Colorlock Longlasting Lipliners & Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

So apart from the new Retro Matte Gloss V2.0 (Review HERE), I have also been using the new shade additions in the PAC Colourlock Longlasting Lip Liners and the matte eyeshadow palette since quite some time now, and here are my thoughts..

Claims:

  • Purely pigmented, Waterproof, Smudge proof, Pure matte
  • Long lasting power
  • Unique formula

MRP: Rs.385/- for 1.6g (Buy HERE)

New Shades:

  • So Spicy
  • Plush
  • Beauty Queen
  • Forever Fuchsia
  • Infinite Kiss
  • Hello Pink

PAC has Colorlock Longlasting Lip Liners since a long time, they had all shades of reds and pinks earlier. They have added these 6 new shades which are all nudes and browns and perfect for everyday wear and as a base under all lipsticks.

I love the color co-ordinated packaging, they match to shades and are easier to identify. Each shade name is marked in a nice big font on the center, which again makes it easy, rather than trying to read the small font on the edge of the pencil.

They have a black cap and the whole packaging is long, sleek and quite classy. They need to be sharpened, but they are quite easy to sharpen.

They are quite creamy and pigmented and glide on very easily on the lips. The finish is matte and slightly drying, but that makes the staying power longer. They stay for about 4-5 hours minimum.

L-R: So Spicy, Hello Pink, Infinite Kiss, Forever Fuchsia, Beauty Queen, Plush

I absolutely love the new shades, 3 of the nudes are my favourite and I also love the vampy Infinite Kiss. The nude ones would work under all the lipsticks, Forever Fuchsia under pinks and Infinite kiss for deep wine and vampy lipsticks. These would definitely make your lipstick last much longer and help give a nice definition to the lips. Especially on the edges and corners.

But they also work really well on their own, and I pretty much use these on their own. Plush, Beauty Queen and So Spicy are my favourites! I highly recommend this.

Though these are slightly expensive than other PAC lip liners, but the packaging and quality of Colorlock is pretty good. And compared to other brands, these are definitely a lot better.

PAC Matte Eyeshadow Palette

Claims:

  • 7 velvety shades
  • Blends smoothly with the touch of your fingertips
  • A perfect palette with all the colours that you would need when warm browns are concerned with a super pigmented black

MRP: Rs.975/- (Buy HERE)

I was in love with this no. 2 matte eye shadow palette the moment I saw it! It is every neutral girl’s dream palette! I love warm neutrals and all shades of brown, and you definitely need those for crease, blending and merging other metallic and bright colours.

All the shades of brown in this palette are absolutely perfect for defining crease and outer corners and even lower lashline. These shadows can be used to create any look.

Not only are the shades perfect in colour, but they are also good in pigmentation and are easy to blend. Usually matte eye shadows are chalky in palettes and it is very difficult to get good pigmentation and creaminess when it comes to matte eye shadows. Few shades in Makeup Geek and theBalm palettes are the only ones from what I have tried, which are almost perfect when it comes to matte shadows. I would say PAC did a fabulous job here.

It also has this basic black long strip, coz you need more of black shadow to set your liner and even use as a liner. The pigmentation of this black shadow is mind blowing.

Of course, 1-2 are a little less pigmented than others and they also do have a slight kick back, but they blend very easily and are quick to work with.

I highly recommend this palette, it’s perfect for travel, economical and the only palette you will need, apart from 1-2 other shades to create from neutral day to smokey night to wedding/party or any look.

Have you tried these new launched from PAC? What do you think?

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation, Down to Earth Eyeshadow Quad Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation, Down to Earth Eyeshadow Quad Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

If you have seen the previous post, I have already reviewed The Body Shop’s new Matte Lip Liquid. See HERE

I am quite impressed by those and using them daily currently, kind of obsessed with the Goa Magnolia shade.

However, did the other two launches impress me? Read on to know..

Starting with The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation..

Claims: Our multi-tasking Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation is packed with beneficial skin care ingredients in a portable and innovative design. Discover buildable semi-matte coverage for instantly smoother, shine-free skin and 24 hours of fresh moisture. Experience the freshness of a liquid foundation and the on-the-go practicality of a compact all with mess-free application.

Suitable for sensitive skin , Non-pore clogging, Designed with a built in mirror and pad applicator

MRP: Rs.2695/- for 12g

Shades Available:

  • 03 Malawi Beach (Medium)
  • 04 Wanaka Honey (Dark)

How to use: Apply using the pad applicator for even, lightweight, semi-matte coverage: • Press the pad applicator onto the cushion to activate • Reapply for additional coverage

All brands are coming up with cushion foundations these days. The Body Shop also jumped on the bandwagon, but but only two shades available. Just like Maybelline.

One is for medium skin tones and one is for deeper skin tones. So very fair and deep skin tones will not find their match.

They already have the Fresh Nude Liquid Foundations and that comes in a variety of impressive shades including deeper shades. I wish they would have launched more shades in Cushion Foundation too.

I like the handy, sleek packaging. The mirror is really good and sharp, comes with a sponge. I basically love Cushion Foundations for their ease of use and ease of travel. They are very handy.

It gives a soft, dewy finish which will need to be set with a powder. Coverage is light to medium, so you will definitely need concealer over this.

It stays for about 5-6 hours, you will need powder touch up in between as you will get shiny.

I would say it’s pretty good for daily use for work/college when you do not need heavy coverage. But it is definitely quite expensive.

Here is a small demo..

Price and only two shades would be the cons, other than those, it’s pretty good.

Coming to the quad..

Claims: Our Down to Earth Eyeshadow Quad Brown features 4 neutral eyshadow shades, inspired by nature:

• Oregon Sunstone
• Peru Clay
• Sienna Dust
• Idaho Jasper

Special Features:
• The individul shades all click in and out of the palette casing, so you can switch shades between palettes and quads.
• Shades come in three different finishes: true mattes, iridescent shimmers and eye-catching sparkles.

MRP: Rs.1995/- for 8.8g

How to use: Apply your favorite shades wet or dry directly onto the eyelid. • Start with lighter colors and build up darker colors towards the outer corner of the eye. • To apply the product wet, dampen the bristles of the Down to Earth Multi-Tasker Eyeshadow Brush with a damp tissue.

Shades Available:

  • Brown
  • Plum
  • Black

I have the brown quad. I like the mirror finish packaging of the quad and the fact that the shades could be removed and inter changed. However, I did not see additional shades or that option available at the store yet. Not sure of that.

It comes with a mirror, which is again quite good. Each quad a mix of matte, shimmer and satin finish.

This brown quad has a shimmer peach, matte taupe, shimmer light golden and satin finish deep chocolate brown.

Now I swatched all three at the store and then picked this, out of the Brown and Plum as the shades in Plum did not swatch well on my hand. This one all four shades swatched well. And were creamy and pigmented.

When I tried using it on my eyes, the colours just won’t show up on the lids. I had to go over each shade 2-3 times and this is the result I got finally.

I wouldn’t say it’s bad but it requires a lot of efforts and the result is not that good. I wouldn’t recommend this particular quad, I am not sure how the other two show up on the eyes. The black/grey one looked the most pigmented though.

Overall, I would recommend only the cushion foundation and matte lip liquid from this range, especially the matte liq liquid lipsticks 🙂

Have you tried the new launches from The Body Shop?

Huge Makeup Geek Haul: How to Buy, Prices, Shipping, etc.

Huge Makeup Geek Haul: How to Buy, Prices, Shipping, etc.

Hi guys,

So I did this huge Makeup Geek Haul a few months back and was caught up with something or the other and couldn’t post this. I had to click pictures, so I didn’t use anything and I was dying to use them!

Finally I got around clicking pics and doing this post. I would be doing another post for swatches as there are way too many pictures in this post already.

I am mentioning a detailed description of each product, prices, how to buy, etc. in this post.

Starting with the Full Spectrum Eyeliner Pencils..

Claims: Define your line. Ultra creamy and richly pigmented, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eye Liner Pencils apply effortlessly to create a vibrant display of color on the lids. Choose from a full spectrum of color—available in 10 dynamic shades.

  • All our Pencils are Cruelty Free — we do not test our products on animals
  • Paraben Free
  • Pencil product weight is 1.20 g / 0.042 oz

Price: $9 each (Buy HERE)

I have the shades Ocean, Mint and Orchid which are very unique and beautiful! Just pop this on your lower lashline when you don’t feel like doing much and you will still stand out. I highly recommend getting the Nude one too for the waterline.

They come with a matching body and are easy to identify. They need to be sharpened though.

Best part about Makeup Geek website is they have very good swatches of all their products on different skin tones.

Coming to eye shadows which is Makeup Geek’s best selling product till date..

Claims:

  • These are all highly-pigmented – just check out the swatches!
  • Half the price of high end shadows without sacrificing quality
  • These pans can be placed in empty palettes such as Z-Palettes.
  • Eyeshadow pan weight is 1.8G / 0.064 oz
  • With a separate palette, you can build your own custom palettes (and save the extra cost and the plastic that eyeshadow compacts bring)
  • All our shadows are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals
  • These eyeshadows are Paraben-Free

Price: $6 each (Buy HERE)

Makeup Geek eye shadows are super affordable and have amazing quality! Easily comparable to MAC, Anastasia, etc. which are very highly priced. They have all the shades possible and you will find all MAC eye shadow dupes in Makeup Geek. I would anyday recommend getting these over a high end brand.

If you are just starting out with makeup/eye shadows, I have bought these basic nine shades which everyone should have in their vanity. So if you are confused and don’t know which shades to pick, go for these nine 🙂 I have done a lot of research before zeroing on these shades, so you can trust me.

I got the shades..

Creme Brulee
Cocoa Bear
Shimma Shimma
Moondust
Cosmopolitan
Bitten
Corrupt
Frappe
Mocha

I also picked a few foiled shadows. If you already have all basic ones and are looking for something fancy or need 1-2 foiled to work along with the basics, I would recommend these.

Claims: With these rich and intensely-hued shades, the new Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows go beyond your standard line of cosmetics, introducing you to a new and powerful cosmetic experience. This cutting-edge formula offers a creamy texture that is a hybrid between a powder shadow and a cream shadow that is on a level of its own. The intense pigmentation combined with an opaque, metallic finish make these shadows a dream to work with. These can be applied effortlessly in just one swipe with no primer required! Our lineup includes a diverse array of rich colors and a smooth silky formula that we believe help elevate pressed eye shadows to the next level of exceptional quality.

  • These are all highly-pigmented – just check out the swatches!
  • These pans can be placed in empty palettes such as Z-Palettes.
  • Eyeshadow pan weight is 1.8G / 0.064 oz
  • With a separate palette, you can build your own custom palettes
  • All our shadows are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals
  • These shadows are Talc and Paraben-Free

Price: $10 each (Buy HERE)

I picked..

In The Spotlight
Grandstand
Starry Eyed
Magic Act
Day Dreamer
Ritzy

Makeup Geek also has pretty good blushes and contour powders, again all in pans. You can pick up the pans and an empty palette and make your own eyeshadows/blush/contour complete eye and face palette.

They also come in compact individually. In compact they are priced at $15 and the pans are priced at $10.

Claims: Get cheeky! Soft and subtle to bright and bold, Makeup Geek Blushes blend effortlessly into the skin to add the perfect dose of radiance to your cheeks. Their finely milled powder guarantees a smooth, buttery feel and a flawless application, every time. Rich pigmentation combined with a fade-resistant formula offers buildable, long-lasting color. This Talc-free formula is also great for sensitive skin

  • These are all highly-pigmented – just check out the swatches!
  • Half the price of high end blushes without sacrificing quality
  • Blush pan weight is 4.25G / 0.15 oz
  • All our blushes are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals
  • These blushes are Talc and Paraben-Free
  • Made in the USA

Price: $10 each (Buy HERE)

I picked Romance and Spellbound

All Makeup Geek powder products are majorly talc free and hence they are more creamy and pigmented and don’t give crazy fall outs or feel patchy.

Coming to the contour powders, many people contour with a bronzer which is warm toned and that is fundamentally wrong. Though you can make it work, there are no rules. But a warm toned darker powder will warm up and bronze the skin for a sun kissed look. For contouring or creating a shadow or cutting the face as pro call it, you need a cool toned powder which is slightly ashy or grey. Not too much or it would look muddy. There is a very thin line in between and very few brands and products get it right.

Makeup Geek makes both warm and cool toned powders for all different skin tones, so you can pick whatever suits you best.

Claims: Super soft and buttery smooth, Makeup Geek Contour Powders blend like a dream and have been specifically designed to accommodate skin tone extremes and everything in between. From the lightest of light, to the deepest of deep, we have your shade. Choose from a complete lineup of 8 unique shades—four with warm undertones and four with cool undertones.

  • These are all highly-pigmented – just check out the swatches!
  • These contours are Talc and Paraben-Free – great for sensitive skin!
  • Vegan
  • All our contours are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals
  • Contour pan weight is 4.25 g / 0.15 oz
  • Made in the USA

Price: $10 each (Buy HERE)

Both the blushes and contour pans are 4.25g which is huge and enough for a lifetime even if you use them daily!

I got Complicated and Infidelity.

And finally I have some sparklers in the shades Zodiac, Solstice and Stargazer

Claims:

  • A sparkle beyond compare, Makeup Geek Sparklers go where no cosmetics company has gone before! Loose, reflective particles create a glitter-like effect that is out of this world.
  • For maximum impact, Sparklers are best applied with an eye-safe cosmetics adhesive. A galaxy of gorgeousness awaits—light up your universe with Makeup Geek Sparklers!
  • Completely Eye-Safe: Uses Reflects to create a Glitter effect
  • Jars fill weight is 4G / 0.14 oz
  • All our Sparklers are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals
  • They are also Talc and Paraben-Free

Price: $10 each

Now many of you had questions related to shipping and customs. Makeup Geek ships worldwide and they use either Mail Service i.e. normal post and UPS i.e. Expedited and more expensive. I opted for Mail Service and it took me almost 2 months to receive it. Mail Service cost $8 to $12-13 depending on the weight and UPS costs $40-41.

I had to pay customs of Rs.250-300 which is pretty reasonable for so much stuff. Again if you order less, you might not have to. Customs duty cannot be predicted though.

I would highly recommend shopping from Makeup Geek. It’s a paradise for eye makeup lovers especially. All Makeup Geek products are top notch in quality and they keep adding new shades and new products. They have recently launched highlighters which are again fabulous!

I will do swatches of all these in a separate blog post, as it would be too image heavy.

P.S: Happy Holi! This is my kind of Holi 😉

L’Oreal Paris #BoldInGold Collection Review, Swatches

L’Oreal Paris #BoldInGold Collection Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

L’Oreal Paris launched the new Bold in Gold Collection and I have the entire collection consisting of an eyeshadow palette, 7 lipsticks and 2 nail paints.

I have been trying these out since 3-4 days and here are my thoughts..

Have also done a video on the same..

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold La Palette

Claims: La Palette Gold consists of a unique selection of 10 exclusive shimmer shades, from subtle pinks to bold, shimmery golds and purples that allow you to unleash your creative side and create multiple glamorous eye looks for every occasion.

MRP: Rs.1450/-

It comes in the usual L’Oreal Paris La Palette packaging with a brush and sponge on each end and a mirror. The shades are all satin/shimmer finish and very pigmented.

All these swatches are two swipes each. There is a stunning olive green, warm bright gold, bronze pink, champagne, white gold, deep navy blue, aqua blue, gray and sea green.

I created this olive green and gold halo smokey eye with this palette. The shadows work better with fingers and I did not get the desired pigmentation with brushes. I tried different brushes but none transferred the product on the lids and finally I used my fingers.

Also there are no matte crease/blending shades in this palette and hence you will have to use it with some other shadows/palette for those shades.

The palette is not very travel friendly as one side of the shadow plate had come off when I opened it as the glue wasn’t enough on one side. It will shatter if dropped even once, so be careful with that.

I love the shades though and all are stunning and bright with decent pigmentation. I do recommend this palette, but you will have to use a base underneath as they blend sheer. I am not sure if it is Limited Edition, or wait for it to go on discount.

Coming to the Color Riche Lipsticks,

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipsticks

Claims: Get Set to be #BoldInGold. L’Oreal Paris introduces the latest beauty trend from Paris – Gold Obsession by Color Riche. Infused with precious 24 carat gold* for illuminated lips. (Note – *Particles coated with 24 carat gold. )

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession delivers intense moisture while providing a velvet matte finish. It’s unique formula contains Jojoba oil for unrivaled moisture and comfort along with matte gel technology to create an intense matte look.

Jojoba Oil keep lips hydrated

Highly pigmented for a rich matte effect

Available in 7 different shades.

Easy to apply and long lasting

MRP: Rs.1025/-

Shades:

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha, Le
Le, Rouge,Rose, Plum

Scarlet Gold– Beautiful cool toned cherry red

Coral Gold– Orangey coral but not neonish

Mocha Gold- Deep wine

Le Gold- Bright gold

Rouge Gold- Warm toned bright red

Rose Gold- Muted rosy pink

Plum Gold- Deep grape

All the shades have very fine shimmer (except Le Gold which has a lot of visible shimmer) and give a glossy, wet look to the lips. These are very, very pigmented and super moisturising on the lips. Be careful while applying, coz they literally melt in touch with lips and it might bleed. Make sure to powder around the lips well.

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha
Le. Rouge, Rose, Plum

Love the gold packaging and each lipstick has the name of the L’Oreal Paris Ambassador, same as with the Reds and Pinks collection earlier.

Scarlet, Coral, Mocha, Le
Rouge,Rose, Plum

I am so glad these are very wearable and do not have frosty, shimmery finish. I don’t like metallic or frosty finish lipsticks. Also the shimmer is hardly visible and they make for great shades to wear normally.

I love the Coral Gold, Rose Gold and Plum Gold. Also Le Gold is a nice shade to own to mix and match or wear as a topper.

I created this ombre lip with Le Gold and Plum Gold.

Also there are two nail paints in this collection, Violet Vendome which is a beautiful plum grape and Coral Trianon, a bright coral. I feel there should have been a bright metallic gold nail paint too, in this collection. The nail paints are priced at Rs.350/- each

I will update the pics wearing the nail paints in this post.

Overall I do recommend this range and I love all three products i.e. the eye shadow palette, lipsticks and nail paints in this collection. The range is available on Nykaa right now, and soon will be available on Amazon and other websites.

What do you think of the new L’Oreal Paris BoldInGold Collection?

New Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palettes Royal Persia, French Rose Review, Swatches

New Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palettes Royal Persia, French Rose Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

In my previous post on the Lakme Absolute x Sabyasachi’s ‘Illuminate & Shine’ Collection, I reviewed the new bronzer, highlighter and shimmer brick. (See HERE)

These two eye shadow palettes are also a part of the Limited Edition Sabyasachi Collection.

Lakme already has the day Gold and night Silver palette in this Illuminating Palette range, see the swatches of the Day Palette HERE.

Claims:  They say it’s the eyes that gives you that extra sparkle. So as you prep for your festive looks this year try the new Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow palettes to add to the glam quotient. These limited edition eyeshadows by Sabysachi Mukherjee have 6 versatile colours to play with and create stunning looks that are bound to turn heads.
Whether it’s the lovely plum tones of the Royal Persia palette or the warm earthy shades of the French Rosé palette, these unique shades are absolute must-haves.

Limited edition eye shadow palettes designed by fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee
High intensity powders
6 versatile shades that blend beautifully
Suited for most Indian skin tones

MRP: Rs.995/- each for 7.5g (Buy Royal Persia HERE and French Rose HERE)

Royal Persia has more purple/pink tone shades and French Rose has more warm browns/coppers. From the first look of it, I absolutely love French Rose! The shades are stunning and so apt for the fall/winter/wedding season currently. I can think of 9-10 different eye looks immediately looking at the palette.

French Rose is definitely very versatile and very flattering on Indian skin tones.

Both palettes have the usual packaging with a mirror and a double ended sponge tip applicator.

Honestly except for 1-2 shades, I was not so impressed with the pigmentation of the shadows in the previous day palette. This time I am blown away and how!

I had huge expectations from the palettes as the shades looked really pretty. And I am so glad Lakme has worked on the pigmentation this time, all the shadows are super creamy and buttery and these swatches are just one swipe each!

Top Row:

A coppery bronze, close to MAC’s Amber Lights (Amber Lights is slightly more gold)

A matte plum brown, this was the only shade with little less pigmentation compared to the other 5, but is easily buildable

A satin finish pinky red

Bottom Row:

A matte dark chocolate brown

A satin finish peachy pink, close to MAC’s Expensive Pink (Expensive Pink is a little more pinker)

A matte burnt orange with some gold shimmer

Each and every shade is super pigmented! This palette is a must have for all brides to be, it’s a perfect addition to your trousseau. I will be creating a look with this palette super soon.

Coming to Royal Persia,

Top Row:

A satin finish aqua blue

A matte purple, again the only shade in the palette which is not that pigmented

A matte slate blue

Bottom Row:

A satin finish plum

A satin finish light pink

A satin creamy beige with gold shimmer, very creamy.

This palette has more cool toned and grey based shades, and more on blue and pink lines.

All the shades in both the palettes are very creamy and buildable, except for one shade in both, all are pigmented and blend well into each other.

If you like warm shades, you can go for French Rose and if you like cooler shades, you can pick Royal Persia.

For me personally, I absolutely love French Rose and if I have to recommend one, I would say French Rose 🙂

I hope you liked the review, let me know your favourite in the comments below.

First Colourpop Haul, Review, Swatches | How to Buy in India

First Colourpop Haul, Review, Swatches | How to Buy in India

Hi guys,

Finally I am sitting down to write this post, I know this took forever and I am really sorry. In fact, I bought more Colourpop after this but will include it in a separate US haul post.

For now, let’s start with this. I wanted to try Colourpop since a long time but they did not ship to India. Once they announced they are starting international shipping, I had my wishlist ready and as soon as they started it, I tried to place my order and I got the shock of my life! Shipping was $25! Yes, my order was $30 and shipping was $25 which is close to double. Obviously I didn’t want to spend that much and many people complained on social media regarding this, Colourpop replied that they have flat rate shipping of $25 so you can order more items for same shipping amount.

If in case you have to place a huge order or 2-3 friends are combining an order, then buying directly from Colourpop made sense. Since I didn’t want to place a huge order as that attracts customs and wanted to just try a few things initially, it was not very economical for me.

Enter ‘Ship Out From USA‘. Magali did an entire video on them and explained how to use it, you can watch the video HERE.

Basically what they do is, they create a virtual USA/UK address for you and you can use that address to place order on any website which does not deliver to India directly. They will receive the items, repack it well and send it across to you. Like an intermediary, and of course it has some charges.

Charges without the discount are a little high, but I have a huge 40% discount code for you all i.e. “NEWLOVE40” (code to be applied on the Ship Out From USA website, not on merchant website) This code will not have an expiry period! So you can use it anytime and to buy from any website, valid for both virtual USA and UK orders. I would definitely suggest make use of it during sale periods (Black Friday sale is coming soon) and also ‘Free Shipping within USA/UK’ above certain amount.

That way is turns out to be pretty economical. After the 40% discount and using Ship Out From USA, it was pretty decent a price to pay for Colourpop considering all sellers here have a good amount of margin and it turns out to be much cheaper than that.

Also all Colourpop products are $5 and $6, plus they are very high quality and full of pigments! From eyes to cheeks to lips, all products are full of pigments and are long staying!

So let’s see what all I got in my first haul..

T-B: November, Point Zero, Beeper, Lumiere

I have been using some of the products since quite some time now, especially the lipsticks. I got one from Lippie Stix ($5), two Ultra Satin ($6) and one Ultra Matte ($6). And I also got one eyebrow pencil ($5), one creme gel liner ($5), three Super Shock eyeshadows ($5) and one Super Shock cheek highlighter($8).

Now the eye and cheek products of Colourpop are very buttery and should be used only with hands, especially eyeshadows. You cannot get the colour pay off with brushes. Also they break easily, I got one eyeshadow slightly broken when it came but then their nature is such, that will easily break even if dropped once. And also their products dry up pretty quickly if kept open, so they mention to close the lid pretty tight!

So I got two Ultra Satin Lips in November and Point Zero from the recent KathleenLightsxColourpop collaboration and the Lippie Stix in Lumiere from her previous collaboration. I love Kathleen Lights and all the shades she created in the recent collab were pretty amazing, so I had to get these! Apart from these, I got the Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper which I wanted since a long time! That shade is gorgeous and a must have!

The Lippie Stix are like a matte chubby lip crayon but much more creamier and pigmented. They stay for about 3-4 hours and longer without eating or drinking. The Ultra Satin Lip also stays for about same time, but it is a proper liquid lipstick formula which is completely matte. But fortunately they are not drying. Ultra Matte is drying but stays the longest and is the most pigmented!

L-R: November, Point Zero, Beeper, Lumiere
L-R: November, Point Zero, Beeper, Lumiere

Lumiere is a dusty mauve pink

November is a mid tone warm peachy pink

Point Zero is a cool toned grey brown

Beeper is a warm mid tone taupe

The eyeshadows I got are So Quiche, Nillionaire and LaLa.

These swatches are just one swipe each! Also I tried hard to capture the exact colour, but the shades are gorgeous and the camera was just not picking up the exact colours or doing justice to the shadows.

The eyeshadows are so creamy and the colours are gorgeous! They are very different and unique with a beautiful combination of reflects.

So Quiche

So Quiche is ansoft olive with a highly reflective gold and pink violet glittery duo chrome metallic finish

Nillionaire

Nillionaire is warm bronze with tons of gold and multi coloured glitter in a Metallic finish.

LaLa

And I also picked the Brow Pencil in Bangin Brunette which is the perfect shade for my dark eyebrows and hair. I love the fact that it has spoolie at one end which makes it very convenient to use and you do not need extra brushes. And I wanted a nice, nude eye pencil for my waterline since a long time and my search ended at Colourpop Creme Gel Liner in Honeydude which is a perfect peachy nude for my waterline.

Highlighters are my weakness, so I had to get one highlighter! 😀 I picked Lunch Money which is a gorgeous soft light gold shade with reflective duo chrome. This is one shade which will work for a lot of skin tones from light to medium. It will be a little light for very dark/deep skin tones. It is super buttery and creamy and very pigmented, absolutely love the shade!

And the quantity is huge! I think only the highlighters are a little more than their usual $5 and $6, but even for $8 the quality and quantity is amazing!

Here is how a few shades look on me.. (First is November, then Point Zero and Beeper)

I absolutely love each and every thing in this haul and highly recommend each of these! You can just close your eyes and get these, for the price, they are amazing!

Also you can trust on my research that I would pick shades after spending hours in finding out the best shades 😀

Also Colourpop has free shipping above $50 and $4.99 below that just for 3-4 days currently, if in case you want to get something, right now is the time 😀 Or else my 40% off Ship Out From USA coupon code ‘NEWLOVE40’ is valid forever and for everything you want to buy from US/UK.

I paid around $51 for everything (they have $5 off for new registered members) plus the shipping through SOFU was around 2000 which came to about INR 1200 after the 40% discount. So in total around INR 4500 with shipping for everything. But I would highly suggest placing the order in the next 1-2 days if you are really planning to get something, coz of their free shipping offer 🙂

Hi guys,

I hope you like the look.

Products used:

Sephora Smoothing Primer
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Powder
Revlon Nearly Naked Medium Deep Powder
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter
Marks & Spencer Blush Damson
Maybelline Colorsensational 3D Eyeshadow Palette Sapphire Blue
Colorbar Eyeshadow Crayon Moss
Maybelline Super Black Colossal Kajal
PAC Eyeliner Pen
Rouge Bunny Rouge Alchemy Eyebrow Pencil

I liked this Maybelline Palette but they do need a base eyeshadow/pencil for the colors to show up. The highlight shade was pretty good, black one had a lot of fall out though.

I love this Colorbar eyeshadow crayon and these are fabulous even on their own when you don’t want an all out look but some nice color and definition.

Studiowest Maaya Crystal Eyeshadow Trio Goldmine Review, Swatches

Studiowest Maaya Crystal Eyeshadow Trio Goldmine Review, Swatches

By Devika

Hola loves!

We all love buying makeup, don’t we? Even those “random” visits and strolls through makeup boutique and counter aisles end up with us eventually buying the stuff we fancy lying at the counters! We can’t help 😀

During such one random visit to Westside I discovered that they actually have a huge makeup and skincare studio, STUDIOWEST. I drove straight into it and the product that fascinated me the most was their eye shadow trio as I was on a hunt to get travel friendly palette to carry along for weddings!

They actually have their range sorted into two lines: (Read more HERE)

The Pure Passion line which is a more wearable, lightweight ranging from nudes to pinks for the woman at work

The Maaya line which is more edgy, has shimmery and bold dazzling shades for festivities, weddings and women who want to look more glamorous.

They have a great range of colors which are designed specifically to flatter the Indian skin tones.

Pure passion has daytime neutrals and black Smokey eye shadow trio. While Maaya has stark shades in Bombay jewels and goldmine trio.

I chose the goldmine for its vibrant color combination. It’s a mix of plum, gold and brown. I tried it at the counter and gosh it blew me off with the pigmentation. I had to pick it up!

So let’s get into reviewing the STUDIOWEST MAAYA CRYSTAL EYESHADOW IN M03 GOLDMINE

PRODUCT CLAIMS: “Hi intensity color, for dramatic eyes. Blends effortlessly to create a complete look”

PRICE: INR 425 for 4.2 g

SHELF LIFE Is approx. 2 years

TO USE: “Combine three shades to experiment with your look! Using the applicator, apply the dark shade to line the eyelid. Next, blend in the medium shade along the crease & highlight under the eyebrow for a stunning result”

AVAILABILITY: The Studio West range is available across most Westside stores in India and is an awesome stop for high quality, reasonable products. How I wish it could be available online too!

MY EXPERIENCE

PACKAGING

Studio West Maaya crystal eye shadow comes enclosed in a black paper box with small cutout window which shows off the product. Inside is a compact plastic case with no mirror attached. Well that doesn’t bother me at least. It has a transparent lid making it easier to see through the shades.

The details are written on the base. Inside the case rests three eye shadow colors in square cases. The double sided sponge applicator it comes with, is of no use and I use my own set of brushes to apply the shadows.

The packaging is simple, nothing fancy or great but not cheap looking either. It is breakable and not sturdy so one needs to be careful while handling it or while travelling.

TEXTURE

The texture is to die for!! Truly speaking I didn’t expect this kind of texture from this palette, since most drugstore brands have those powdery finish with loads of fallout. All three eye shadows are so creamy and satin soft and glide on like a dream!! Application and blending is super easy and seamless. The shimmer present in the formula is very subtle, not like big crystals but are finely milled and I didn’t observe any fall out during application, however I always prefer doing my eye makeup first and base later.

PIGMENTATION

This Goldmine trio is a beautiful palette containing great festive shades: a plum, antique gold and a copper brown. Great color selection and would suit most of our heavy attires.

I can’t really stress enough on how pigmented these eye shadows are. Just have a look at the swatches and this is without a primer (just swatched once). All the three shades are super pigmented and have a reflective, subtle shimmery finish which doesn’t look over the top. The colors blend well without a hassle.

SHADES

The color pay off in a single swipe is exceptional (see swatches). The first shade from the left is so unique. It is a plumy-burgundy shade and looks gorgeous. The middle one is shimmery golden with warm bronze undertone to it. The third one is a gorgeous copper-brown shade. Perfect blend for Indian skin tone.

STAYING POWER

They stayed quite well on my eyes for over 6 hours without any creasing or fading that too without a primer (do prime in case you have oily lids). However with a good base and primer, longevity increases by up to 2 hours. No fallouts whatsoever after application. It can easily be removed with any makeup remover for that matter. Impressive staying power!

PROS

  • Very affordable
  • Gorgeous shade selection
  • Very few fall outs
  • Blends easily
  • Staying power & pigmentation is brilliant
  • Soft creamy texture
  • Super Affordable (3 shades for 425)
  • Primer not required to intensify the colors
  • Works really well with all Indian skin tones
  • Compact and easy to carry around
  • The quantity is good enough for the price

CONS

  • Availability
  • Have a little Fallout (only during application)
  • The Brush is merely useless
  • Packaging could have been sturdier
  • Oily lids need a primer to make it last long
  • No mirror provided

RATING 4.5/5 (-0.5 for not so sturdy packing and a bad applicator)

RECOMMENDATION

Yes! I absolutely recommend this particular trio if you are looking for a palette which would be perfect for festival/ wedding season as it would team perfectly with all your ethnic attires. You can’t ask for better quality at this price. I loved the color selection on the whole, shades are sorted out to work on Indian skin. The formula and shades are absolutely fantastic and it’s very reasonably priced too. If at all you have to pick any one product from this range, this must be it!!!!

Will I repurchase?

Yes I am planning to give Daytime neutrals eye shadow a try!

Editor’s Note: I have the basic daytime neutrals one. These are a total value for money. The centre gold shade is to die for!

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

By Simran

“Beauty is how you feel inside , and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical”

Hello everyone!

Today i am going to review the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome. I was not into eye shadows until last year since i couldn’t figure out how to use it. Haven’t we all been there? We just level up by trial and errors and reach the pro level.

The salvation palettes are limited edition eye shadow palettes which come in 10 different variants, which are; Unicorns Unite, What are you waiting for?, Girls on film, Run boy run, Welcome to the pleasuredome, Dia de los muertos, Give them Nightmares, Colour chaos, Girl panic and Hard day.

All the palettes consist of 6 matte and 12 shimmery or metal finish eyeshadows.

I bought Welcome to the Pleasuredome since it had eye shadows perfect for a quirky or smokey eye look and i got too bored of my pink and nude palettes.

Claims: Salvation is here! Why a Salvation? For the first time we have combined Shimmer and Matte Shades in a series of exciting Limited Edition Palettes with 18 shades of super high pay off Impact. These Palettes are in beautiful compact with large full size mirror for the first time in our series of palettes. We hope this is what you have been waiting for? We have assembled this as the perfect mix of nudes and naturals for day, moving to smokier by night. 12 shimmers and 6 Mattes inside with full length mirror.

Ingredients:

Price: Rs. 1350/- for a palette consisting 16 shades.

Packaging: Can we talk about how intriguing the outer packaging is? i fell in love with it. The palette is a classic sleek black palette, the material of the palette feels a bit cheap though. There is a full size compact mirror provided in the palette which is actually really handy. The palette closes with a click and is quite sturdy and can be carried in your handbag. There is a useless sponge tip applicator provided in the palette but i just never use it, who uses it anyways?

My take on Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

I was having high expectations from this palette since Makeup Revolution is an affordable and trustworthy brand and the product aced all my expectations. The shadows are highly pigmented and the shades provided in the palette are so mesmerising. I usually use the matte shades in my crease as a transition colour and the shimmery shades go on the lid.

You can create a classic smokey eye from this palette since the shade Never Doing What I am Told is the matte-est black you will ever find.

Shades like Sell it by hour & Shooting stars never stop, There goes a Supernova give a metallic finish which i absolutely love.

Welcome to the Pleasuredome & Xanadu can be used as a highlighter for your face; who doesn’t like multi tasking products?

The shadows can last you the whole day and i have actually mistakenly slept with my makeup on and these shadows did not even budge an inch.

Pros of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • Highly pigmented
  • Lasting power is amazing
  • Decently priced
  • Full size compact mirror provided

Cons of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • A brush not provided, but a sponge tip applicator.
  • Contains parabens

Rating: 5/5

Editor’s Note: The shades are quite pretty Simran, as you rightly mentioned perfect for smokey eyes. Loved it.
