April My Envy Box Review

April My Envy Box Review

For those of you who don’t know what My Envy Box is..read HERE…and check out my Feb box HERE and March box HERE.

MRP: Rs.850/-

If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen the pic of the products I got..

April My Envy Box Review

This time the box was a nice pink colored one..I loved it..always their boxes and packaging..though the cute pouch was missing this time..I guess coz 1-2 products were big in size..

There was also this 10% off coupon for the site www.monsoonandbeyond.com

Products I got:

  • Benefit Porefessional– 0.15 ml sachet
  • SkinYoga Almond Orange Face Scrub – 5.67g
  • Avene Sensitive White Whitening Essence -3ml
  • Za True White Day Cream– 5g
  • H2O+ Sea Moss Replenishing Body Wash– 60ml

Ok, so coming to the products..I only liked the SkinYoga and H2O+ samples..and I wanted to try out Za..so kinda that though 5g is too less..I am not a fan or endorser of Whitening products..so Avene Whitening Essence is not what I would really choose, if given an option..

And let me not talk about Benefit Porefessional..coz 0.15ml is too less for even one time use :/ Few boxes had Benefit Fake Up Concealer..and that was still a decent sample..I would have preferred if they would have sent some other brand’s deluxe sample rather than Benefit !

So the April box was a mixed bag..I liked only 2 products..I hope next month’s box has something better..I mean 0.15 or even 1-2 ml products should be avoided in my honest opinion ! ‘You know what I mean’ :p (Did you watch the Sonam Kapoor’s Koffee with Karan episode ? If not, go watch now 😀 )

Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Kit Review

Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Kit- Face Wash, Scrub and Mask Review

By Agnibanya

Face Wash ~ Rs.90 for 50gm  | Rs.160 for 100gm.
Scrub ~ Rs.110 for 50gm  | Rs.225 for 100gm.
Mask ~ Rs.110 for 50gm  | Rs.225 for 100gm.

Lakme has been dishing out newer and exciting products regularly for the past year and amongst many other things that I liked, I really have to say, this Clean up kit for various skin types did sound the most exciting to me.

I will review all the three products from the Clean Up Kit | CLEAR PORES | With Green Tea Extracts in this review

Key Features of the Lakme Clean Up Clear pores kit with Green Tea Extracts

Green Tea extracts to soothe skin
Suitable for Normal to Oily Skin
Salicyclic Acid to prevent breakouts & fight blemishes
Dermatologist tested| Non-comedogenic| Hypoallergenic
Available in 50g and 100 g packs

Face Wash / Clear Pores

The Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Face Wash comes in a green tube with a flip top lid which is quite sturdy and travel friendly. The face wash itself, is a transparent gel that is meant to clean all visible dirt and impurities and helps control oil. This particular face wash doesn’t lather up much but it does the job of cleaning out all superficial impurities very well. It surely makes the skin feel squeaky clean and leaves behind a nice refreshing feeling without that dry-stretchy skin. The Green Tea fragrance is absolutely delightful. And it does control oil too, but only to a certain extent. In extreme summers, it controlled oil on my T-Zone for about 2 hours which is quite nice.

Pros:
1. Budget friendly
2. Travel friendly
3. Refreshing Green Tea Fragrance
4. Cleans dirt effectively
5. Not drying

Cons:
1. Controls oil only for about 2 hrs

Face Scrub / Clear Pores

The Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Face Scrub has the same packaging as the face Wash from the same range, i.e. green tube with a flip top lid which is sturdy and travel friendly. According to me, scrubbing is absolutely an essential for clearing out clogged pores and get rid of dead cells. This particular scrub has been especially designed for skin that is prone to breakouts and has Salicylic acid to prevent breakouts and fight blemishes. The scrub itself is a white colored emulsion with fine white beads that are very gentle on the skin.

After using the face wash, the scrub has to be massaged on the face for 2-3 mins , avoiding the eye area and then rinsed off. This scrub is perhaps my most favorite product out of the kit because I’ve already finished a tube and going to finish off the second one soon too. It is totally unlike most scrubs that I’ve used till date and the micro-particles are so gentle on the skin but do their job of scrubbing away dead cells very well. There isn’t a thing that I do not like about this scrub. Gives a visibly clearer looking skin post the cleaning routine and I have felt that creams work better on my skin after using this scrub. Also, the skin stays matte for long hours when used in conjunction with the Face Wash. This is a STAR product !!

Pros:
1. Travel Friendly
2. Budget friendly
3. Micro scrubbing particles which are very  gentle on skin.
4. Leaves skin feeling squeaky clean
5. Skin stays matte for long.
6. Gentle and refreshing Green Tea fragrance
7. Clears away dead skin and opens up pores for skin care products to work better by penetrating the skin deeper

Cons:

None

Face Mask / Clear Pores

The Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Face Mask ,again has the same packaging as the other products from the range. It is a greenish white clay  Mask with absorbing powers. It also removes excess oil from the face and claims to tightens pores It is supposed to be used once a week in conjunction with the Face Wash and Scrub. The texture is quite easy to work with, and you can apply a thin layer on the face and leave on for a few minutes before washing off.

I like the delicate soothing feelin when the mask is on.I am not really impressed with the Face Mask because there really weren’t any visible effects that I could notice. It just felt like any other clay based face masks that I may have used previously. The skin feels fresh but only for a few minutes after which it is back to normal. I didn’t see any tightening of pores.

Pros:
1. Travel and budget friendly.
2. Easy to use and spread.
3. Fresh feeling post removal of mask and even when it’s on
4. Fresh Green Tea Fragrance.

Cons:
1. No visible mattifying effects
2. Didn’t see any tightening of pores

Overall, The Lakme Clean Up Clear Pores Kit (Face Wash, Scrub, Mask) is a great ritual for a nice and easy cleanup at home. While the Face Wash effectively cleans superficial impurities, the scrub sloughs away dead skin and opens up clogged pores. The mask claims to tighten pores but I didn’t notice much of the tightening effect . When all three products are used together, you surely get matte and clean looking skin , and the combined effect may last more than a day which is great considering you can do it at home and at a much lesser cost than a Clean Up at a Salon.

Editor’s Note: I think it sounds perfect for oily skin..may be can try in summers..Nice review Agni 🙂

It comes in a plastic jar packaging..with a cap in between..is light berry in color..and more of a creamy scrub..the particles are not that abrasive..

How I use it, is like a normal scrub..massage on moist face..leave it for about 5 minutes and then wash off..

I like the fact that it works as a scrub cum pack..and has sandal and turmeric as main ingredients which are known for cooling and brightening the skin..and turmeric is also anti bacterial making it good for acne prone skin..I would only suggest to massage very lightly if you have fresh acne..

No SLS, no parabens..and made of herbal ingredients..its quite good..skin feels smooth and brightened..though the glow lasts for a day or two..

I feel it should have been priced a little lower..and availability is also an issue with Auravedic..see where all its available HERE

Aloe Vera gel is very handy and a must have..super cooling, works as a toner, cools your skin in summers, helps post waxing or sun burns, rashes, cuts, also on nails to moisturise and strengthen them, etc.

This one has added pure essential oils ands smells good too..I just use it as a moisturiser at times when I do not want anything heavy on the face..

This absorbs quick and does not settle like a slick layer..and also works post waxing or threading to soothe the skin.

They also recommend using it as hair styling or shaving gel..quite a multi tasker this is..plus all natural…with no added preservatives or chemicals..

I highly recommend keeping one of this at home..for not only yourself..can be used by everyone.

Nivea Total Face Cleanup Review

Nivea Pure Effect Total Face Cleanup Review

What the Company claims: Nivea pure effect total face cleanup enriched with Active Magnolia Extract provides you 5 benefits for Pure and Clear skin:

• Its anti-bacterial formulation helps fight spot causing bacteria & gives visibly pure skin.
• Is soft and gentle to skin due to its mild formula.

Directions:
Step 1: Apply the product to moistened face by smoothly massaging in upward circles focusing on forehead, nose & chin, avoiding the eye area.
Step 2: Spread evenly across face & leave for 3-4 minutes.
Step 3: Rinse off with lukewarm water to get the perfect complexion.

MRP: Rs.99/- for 50ml, Rs.199/- for 150ml

Ingredients:

It comes in a normal tube packaging with a flip cap..is off white in color with small blue granules..has a minty salty smell..its quite creamy and runny in consistency..so spreads easily..

I love multi tasking products..and this is 3 in 1..face wash, scrub and mask..you can carry only this when travelling..and be sorted..

It does not foam as a face wash..I am not a foaming fan..if you prefer foaming face washes, you would not like this as a face wash..works decent for me.

As a scrub, the particles are quite small..this is good for people with sensitive skin..who cannot bear those harsh scrub particles..I like it coz I many a times forget scrubbing..and this does the work when using it normally like a face wash too..though very mild as a scrub.

As a mask, its amazing..as it has kaolin it dries fast..just 3-4 minutes is all you need..the kaolin clay would absorb all the oil..and keep skin fresh..love it in this summers..

Dry skin would find it drying..and need a moisturiser after this..its meant for normal to oily skin..and it surely is for them..

Pros:

1. Does what it claims.
2. Multi tasking.
3. Travel friendly.
4. Would work well for normal to oily, combination and sensitive skin too.
5. Economical.
6. Reduces appearance of pores when used as a mask.

Cons:

1. Dry skin will need a moisturiser after this.
2. Would not help in removing blackheads or reducing spots.

Overall I do like this..its decent as a face wash, mild as a scrub but amazing as a mask…but multi tasking is all we need in today’s world, don’t we ? 😉 Surely recommend it..

Four Yummy Homemade Body Scrubs

Four Yummy Homemade Body Scrubs
Many ingredients from your kitchen can be used to make yummy-smelling face, body, and foot scrubs at home. Start with a skin-friendly exfoliant, such as oatmeal, cornmeal, sugar, or salt. Then choose a moisturizing, binding ingredient. I recommend honey and avocado, which are non irritating emollients, for the face. Olive or coconut oil will work well on the body and feet, especially on dry, scaly, or flaky skin.

However, if you tend to get breakouts on your chest or back, skip the oils and stick with honey or yogurt.

You can add other ingredients as well, such as fresh citrus juice (which acts as an astringent) or cucumber (which soothes skin). For a more aromatic scrub, add some fresh herbs or a few drops of skin-friendly essential oils. I love dessert, so I like cinnamon or vanilla in my scrubs — if you’re a chocoholic, try adding cocoa!

Below are a few recipes to get you started on your own scrubs:

Simple Cinnamon-Vanilla-Oatmeal Facial Scrub
1/4 cup oatmeal
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon plain yogurt

Cornmeal-Citrus Facial Scrub
1/4 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon fresh-squeezed citrus juice (lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit)
2 teaspoons honey
1 drop ylang-ylang essential oil (optional)
1 drop ginger essential oil (optional)

Avocado-Strawberry-Sugar Body Scrub
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup mashed avocado
1/4 cup mashed strawberry
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon honey
1 cup minced fresh basil
1 drop rose essential oil (optional)

Rosemary, Mint & Salt Foot Scrub
1 cup coarse sea salt
5 tablespoons olive oil
3 sprigs fresh rosemary (remove leaves from stalk)
1 cup minced fresh mint
3 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)

Mix ingredients together and gently scrub your face, body, or feet. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Don’t they all sound so good enough to eat ! Yumm…the warm vanilla cinnamon..

Additionally you can scoop out a papaya or mango (or avocado) and save the fruit to eat later. Rub the inside surface of the skin all over your face and arms. The antioxidants and fruit enzymes will help soften your skin.

Vedic Line Papaya Scrub And Papaya Face Pack Review

Vedic Line Papaya Scrub And Papaya Face Pack Review

What the Company claims: Vedic Line Papaya Scrub

Get the skin amazingly clear and glowing.
Formulated from papaya, the most nutritious fruit, it effectively melts and removes extra melanin thereby avoiding skin darkening.
Natural papaya acids bring brightening with clear refreshing look.

Ingredients:

How to Use: Wet skin and gently massage for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse it off with water then.

MRP: Rs. 175/- for 100ml

What the Company claims: Vedic Line Papaya Face Pack

Papaya formulated face pack helps removing blemishes and dark spots.
It also promotes fairness by increasing blood supply to skin.

Ingredients:

How to Use:
Wet skin and apply it liberally.
When it is semi dry, clean with damp cloth or rinse off with water.

MRP: Rs.175/- for 100ml

Since both are from the Papaya Range, I decided to review them together..I also use them together at times..

Both have a yellowish orange tub packaging with an orange cap..they have an overly sweet artificial smell which I did not like..

The scrub is brown in base with black walnut granules for scrubbing…its creamy enough and glides well on the skin..and the mask too has same texture..in fact the ingredients list for both are the same..except for the added walnut granules in the scrub.

It gives a tingling sensation for a few seconds at times but then resides soon.

Pros:

1. Parabens and chemicals free
2. Scrub is creamy enough for use..and does not dry on the skin in between…and same goes for the pack..in fact I like the fact that the pack is creamy and not watery kinds unlike a few face packs.
3. Economical.
4. Good enough quantity.
5. Both helped reduce tan and skin felt refreshed and moist..and not drying.
6. Ingredients include almond oil, clay and aloe vera along with Papaya..all are good for the skin.
7. Would suit all skin types..except sensitive skin..the scrub might be a little harsh for sensitive skin.
8. Shelf life of 3 years.

Cons:

1. The smell ! I hate the overly sweet smell.
2. Vedic Line is only available online.
3. Jar packaging.
4. Scrub might not suit sensitive skin.
5. I am amazed at the same ingredients in both..when both serve different purpose !
6. Contains Phenoxyethanol ! (More harmful than parabens)

Overall I liked both..but I liked the face pack more than the scrub..and for Papaya Scrub..Biotique Papaya Scrub is still my HG ! I surely recommend the face pack though.

The Nature’s Co. Coffee Face Scrub Review

The Nature’s Co. Coffee Face Scrub Review

I had mentioned about the Nature’s Co. Christmas Hampers here..They have a Berry Hamper and a Chocolate Hamper in a special silver tray packaging and at a discounted price only for Christmas…the offer is valid till 1st January 2012..

The Chocolate Hamper consists of the Coffee Face Scrub, Chocolate Mint Lip Balm and the Chocolate Body Butter…I am reviewing the Coffee Face Scrub. Its a part of their Earthborne Range.

What the Company claims: Pamper the coffee lover in you with our invigorating Coffee Face Scrub. It is full of anti-microbial and antioxidant properties that sloughs dead skin, boosts circulation and imparts an instant radiant glow. Wet your face and neck, massage using light circular motions. Rinse off and pat skin dry. Can be used daily. Go ahead and get addicted!

Net Wt: 125 ml (4.2 fl. oz)
MRP: Rs. 525.00

Ingredients: Each 100g contains: Coffee extract 0.5%, Coffee powder 1%, Coffee grits 3%, Vegetable Glycerin 6.5%, Olive Oil 1%, Cream Base, Aroma and Natural Preservatives Q.S

Now obviously since its a coffee scrub it would have a coffee aroma and coffee grits for exfoliation..the smell is strong Madras coffee one ! I quite love the smell…the texture is just fine..not too harsh and not too mild..but I guess sensitive skin should stay away. The base is very nice and creamy though. Coffee is very good for detox and cellulite too.

Pros:

1. Love the coffee smell.
2. Perfect scrub texture.
3. Scrubs off dead skin or dry flakes and without being too harsh or dry on the skin.
4. Its quick and easy.
5. Tube form is easy to use and carry around.
6. Its creamy enough to massage on the skin.
7. Would last long.

Cons:

1.  A little expensive.
2. Granules can be a little harsh for sensitive skin.

No other cons as such for this..I quite liked this..and would surely recommend it to others.
