DIY At Home Facial with R.K’s Aroma Moringa Facial Kit

So I did a facial yesterday at home and recorded it for my YouTube channel, I used this R.K’s Aroma Moringa Facial Kit and hence I thought of reviewing it here too and showing you guys the video..

What is Moringa? The super plant Moringa is native to Africa and Asia, and is widespread among the lush, green foothills of the Himalayas. It belongs to the Moringaceae family, and derives its name from the Malayalam word, ‘Muringa’. Its leaves, pods, fruits, flowers and bark are all abundant in restoratory and healing properties, making it a powerhouse of nutrients and anti-oxidants; a bounteous natural agent, generous with its benefits, truly worthy of the moniker ‘miracle tree’.

Benefits of Moringa: Moringa is rich in vitamins C and E, and contains over 30 different natural anti-oxidants, minerals, phytonutrients and natural anti-inflammatory agents that gently soothe the skin. Perfect for everyday use, Moringa prevents the onset of blackheads, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, and protects from sun burn and minor skin infections. It softly cleanses the skin without robbing it of its natural radiance, while its anti-ageing properties rejuvenate and bring it to life.

Directions:

1. Clean the face with Moringa Cleansing Lotion to cleanse and minimize the pores.

2. Apply Exfoliating Scrub and gently massage for 5-7 minutes for skin exfoliation. Clean the face with wet cotton. Steam your face for 2-5 minutes.

3. Now take Moringa Cream approximately 3-4gms and add 2-3 drops of Moringa oil and massage for 10-15 minutes. Wipe off the excessive cream with cotton or tissue.

4. Apply Moringa Gel and massage for 5-8 minutes and wipe off the excess.

5. Apply Moringa Mask by mixing it with required amount of water, keep it for 5-10 minutes until it dries off and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

6. Complete your facial by applying Moringa moisturizing lotion.

First off this range smells absolutely amazing, Moringa skincare range is available in many brands and you have must have seen/heard of it before. Even The Body Shop has a Moringa Range.

This pack contains 7 sachets of Cleanser, Scrub, Massage Cream, Oil, Gel, Mask and Moisturizing Lotion. Though it’s a one time use kit, the quantity is enough for two people to use together but you have to use it at the same time since once opened, it is difficult to store sachets.

You can do it with your BFF or your mom or sibling, you can do the facial on each other. Make sure you have no rings, watches, etc., and your hands are bare.

The cleanser is milky white and takes off your basic makeup and cleanses your pores. The scrub is super creamy and glides on the skin really well, the exfoliating beads are not that gritty and feel very comfortable. This scrub would work even for sensitive skin.

I took a steam for about 3-4 minutes and then went ahead with the massage.

You have to mix the massage cream and moringa oil together and then massage it all over your face for about 10-15 minutes. Now this is the main part in any facial. Concentrating on pressure points and going with outward strokes to drain lymphatic fluids from your face and skin. If you are someone who has a bloated face, under eye bags, etc., you have a lot of lymphatic fluids which are not drained properly and a good massage definitely helps in draining those out. Plus boosts your circulation and gives your skin a nice flush and glow.

This is followed by the moringa gel which is again massaged for about 5 minutes. It’s a semi-transparent gel and again glides on the skin really well for a good massage.

Then comes the face mask. It’s in powder form, so needs to be mixed with water and applied evenly all over the face. I kept it for about 10-15 minutes and washed it off.

At last, the moisturizing lotion to complete the facial.

I absolutely loved the results! My skin was so soft, smooth, supple and hydrated. The redness I had before the facial, was all gone in 2-3 hours and it was soothed. Facial results are best seen the next day and my skin is glowing today! It also did help in getting rid of a little tan. Overall skin is more brighter and glowing. I definitely suggest checking R.K’s Aroma products and especially this new launch, the Moringa Facial Kit. Many of their products are available on Amazon and I have linked them above.

Pic the next morning..

Usually the skin is a little red on the same day of the facial, but the actual results are seen the next day. I am so loving my skin right now!

Few pointers before any facial:

  • If you have undergone bleach or any face treatment, do not try this for at least 4-5 days
  • Use a sunscreen if you are stepping out after this facial, as your skin might be a little photo sensitive
  • Do not use a face wash for one day, you can wash your face with normal water. You can use a face wash the next day
  • Since all essential oils do not suit everyone, it’s better if you do a patch test on your chin or jaw line first.

All R.K’s Aroma products are pH tested and suitable for sensitive skin. I am a big fan of aromatherapy oils and products and having talked to the owner, I am so curious to try more of their products. 1. DETOX

• Gel cleanser (Lakme Professional Cleansing Gel) followed by an enzymatic based scrub for exfoliation (They use Christine Valmy Vegetal Peel– Bromelin, Papaya, Pineapple)

• A mixture of Lactic acid (Lakme Professional- contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids) along with other actives (Christine Valmy Special Cream 11) are mixed together and applied to desquamate cells and help better penetration.

• The skin is neutralized by a skin toner. (Lakme Professional)

2. REVIVE

• Pure Argan oil (Moroccanoil) is applied to the clean skin with gentle pressure point massage for 10 minutes followed by Gold peel off masque. (Lakme Professional-Lemon, cucumber, green tea, vitamin C)

I had gone for trying out this facial at the Lakme Salon, Bandra..and at first I was a little skeptic of argan oil on my face..but the procedure as a whole sounded good. The girl I was attended by, explained the whole treatment to me in detail. She told me its a hydrating facial and it repairs the skin..but that does not mean people with oily skin cannot go for this facial since it helps with Grade 1 acne too…only if you have too many pimples and Grade 3 acne, they would avoid doing this facial on you.

It helps in cell regeneration, improves skin’s elasticity and healing acne scars, etc making you skin more softer, clearer and supple.

At first, the skin was cleansed followed by a enzyme based vegetal peel. Then, lactic used mixed with Special Cream 11 is applied all over as a pack..there can be mild tingling here since the lactic acid has AHA’s. Its followed by a toner and Morocaanoil..which is massaged all over the face for better penetration..the 10 minutes massage for the head, face and neck is the best part here..deeply relaxing..I did bet you would sleep!

Then, a gold peel off masque is applied till it sets dry and is peeled off..followed at the end by few drops of Moroccanoil and sunscreen (for protection since your skin is peeled coz of lactic acid and AHA’s)

I saw my skin looked fresh and hydrated and there was a glow. But, the skin looked even more better after 1-2 days. The effect stays for a week or so. Also, the dead skin cells are gone, so you get rid of the tan too. I had gone for this service before..and now I am so tanned that I need it again 😀

Before- After

I am not sure if you can see much difference in this before-after pic coz of the lighting there.

I think its totally worth a try before your special event or something..though its priced at a higher side for your normal regular monthly facial if you go for one..but worth a investment once in 5-6 months.

My only issue was they used Moroccanoil on the face..I mean I agree its pure and all,but its a hair product for a reason. I would have much preferred if they did use pure argan oil. Also, I got a small pimple after a day or two..so since the face is cleansed of dirt, etc..sometimes it first reacts and one may break out as it all comes out and up.But soon the skin settles and you would see good results.

Some precautions to be taken:

  • Do not thread or bleach 4-5 days before going for this facial and 7 days after.
  • Do not use any creams, serums,etc on your face after this facial for 7 days..just a mild face wash and sunscreen.
  • Use enough sunscreen if you going to be out in the sun, after this facial, since it involves a peel.

Well with tons and tons of weddings right now, (I have already attended 4 engagements, 3 sangeets and 3 weddings :/) what one needs is glowing beautiful skin and Kaya comes to our rescue..

Remember the Aqua Fairness Luxe which I got done just before my engagement (read about it HERE)..how it left my skin super glowing and flawless..

This time I tried the Kaya Aqua Radiance..I went to Kaya Skin Clinic at Nirmal Lifestyles, Mulund-W. Neha attended to me..and I enjoyed my favorite signature Kaya drink…the apple,cinnamon,honey combo is divine.

Coming back to Aqua Radiance,the main difference between Aqua Fairness Luxe and Aqua Radiance is that in Aqua Fairness Luxe, 10% Glycolic Infusion is done..and a brightening mask is used at the end..whereas in Aqua Radiance, in place of 10% Glycolic Infusion, some vitamins are infused into the skin after the exfoliation..which vitamin serum is used depends on your skin type and skin issues..Skin Glow Serum was used for me..there is one for Anti- Ageing, Vitamin C for pigmentation, Hydrating one, etc..

I loved how skin felt all hydrated and nourished from inside after the Aqua Radiance..you can feel the hydration of aqua seeping into the skin.

And exfoliation gives a different look and feel to the skin. I surely recommend it..in fact people who get their regular facials done, should try this..it is recommended once a month..even if you do not wish to get it done that regularly, once in 2-3 months would help too..

Now which do I personally recommend out of the two, Aqua Fairness Luxe or Aqua Radiance ?
I would say if you have some special occasion lined up..like your own personal functions or a very close relative or a family member’s occasion, go for Aqua Fairness Luxe..without a doubt ! And if you want your dose of regular facials and routine skin care or just want to hydrate or prep up skin, go for Aqua Radiance.

It comes in a round flat white tub..it has a silver seal inside..I liked the fact that the whole tub was filled to the brim..and it was not half empty inside..like a few brands do..

Has a fruity smell..and is quite emollient..so perfect as a massage cream..as the hands do glide on well.

Do not expect any change in your skin..its just a normal massage cream..which would help you with your facials.

 Pros:

1. Quite emollient and glides on well during massaging skin.
2. A lot of quantity.
3. Very economical.
4. Has a nice fruity smell.
5. Has extracts of apple, apricot and aloe vera powder, almond oil, jojoba oil

Cons:

1. Has silicones and parabens.
2. It has mineral oil..so if you are allergic to it..better avoid.
3. There would not be any change in your skin..its just a massage cream.

Overall its a decent massage cream..and those who are into facials..can surely give this a try. I would recommend this if you like going for facials..or do your facial at home.
