I got a few more things from FemmeLuxe, do you remember my previous haul? See HERE
The collection is very trendy and apt for curvy girls.
About the collection: From head-turning evening and going out dresses to cute n’ chilled casual day dresses, shop every style from slinky and bodycon, to crepe and bandage. Going out, Everyday Slay, Special Occasion, Date Night, Just Chillin…they have dresses for everything
They also have shoes and accessories like belts, bags, corsets, hair accessories and even some beauty items.
There is a separate trend section where they cover collections as per current trends like ruched, corsets, slogans, snake print, student style, etc.
I picked these 4 things..
1. Peach Frill Sleeve Jumpsuit
I love the colour of this jumpsuit, peach is very fresh and summery. The frill sleeves are also pretty. It doesn’t fit me well and is slightly tight though, especially at the crotch area. I will have to check if it has seams inside.
2. Black Button Up Belted Blazer Dress
This dress is so hot! I love how it curves the body, I wish it was a little longer though. Blazer dresses always look smart and this one is just perfect.
3. Blue Satin Button Up Tie Front Shirt
Satin shirts are a classic, this is my favourite piece because it is so versatile and can be paired with a lot of things from pants, jeans, skirts. I love the bright blue colour, it instantly adds a pop.
4. Button down Denim Dress
This is the cutest denim dress, I wore it with a white crop top inside, again can be paired with a lot of things. Casual cute chic is how I would describe it. Also can wear white sneakers for a more sporty vibe or heels and a fancy top for something more glam.
My favourites are the denim dress and satin shirt. I loved the peach jumpsuit and black blazer dress as well but the size and fit are an issue for me.
They cover all sizes till 12 and some till 14. The quality is pretty good for the price and I will definitely be buying more from Femme Luxe. And I do recommend it.
Indian designers have been experimenting to make clothes fuss-free and comfortable and that was one of the highlights of the showing of 2019 spring/summer collection. Many designers showcased clothes where surface texturing was used which add a different look and feel to clothes. There was also a focus on colors as per seasons, fabrics, cuts and embellishments on everyday wear.
Design Trends
If you are bored with the same printed and embroidery trends that have been around, novel design changes are being introduced and they would soon percolate down from the couture to the mass-produced and casual styles. As was evident from what was shown on the ramp, tone on tone shades, and florals on dresses and with high slits as well as drapes that flatter are what would make dresses and clothing different in coming months.
There is a focus on functionality that was evident in what the models were wearing as well. Even though the styles they carried were glamorous and edgy, there is a stress on comfort and being free without too many embellishments or stiff fabrics that weigh down styles.
The Indian fashion scene has also been drawing inspiration from art and museums. This was evident in what was showcased for autumn and winter collections 2019. Inspiring artworks of Dutch artists can be seen reflected on dresses and other clothing forms. Indeed, with the advancement of fabric printing technology, it is akin to magnifying any piece of art and wearing it with all minute details and color impressions intact.
There is a renewed focus on surface texturing along with graphic prints and geometric patterns. These are being made signatures by different designers to separate their works. For instance, many designers are using origami, florals, and geometric patterns besides organza, silk velvets, and taffeta. Many are using design technologies of other cultures. Evident are new patterns such as the Japanese sashiko where hand-cut materials are used along with cutwork layering technique, origami images in three dimensional forms and so forth.
Since casual wear dominates the scene for all seasons, we would be seeing unique combinations such as blazers paired with shorts, puff shoulders in tees, bucket hats as the weather gets colder along with experimental styles like boiler suits and neo gothic styles and patterns.
Colors in Trend
Corals are the new favorites and have been the focus of summer 2019. With the oncoming of winter and autumn trends, there would be a focus on heavier fabrics such as organza and velvet. These fabrics also bring in scope for embroidery. Quilting work is being seen in print but could take on embroidered forms as well in clothing. Lattice technique, ribbon work, embellished meshes as well as leather flowers are new trends being done on clothing to add unique features to everyday wear.
Challenges for Indian Designers
The online world has changed things in many ways for the Indian fashion industry, as it has for entertainment. Just as Indians would log in to play Leo Vegas India jackpot, many international casino portals are making gambling legal and safe for the Indians. There are several portals where Indians can gamble in their own currency. The same works for the fashion industry. Indian designers are competing on a global forum and their designs need to keep up with global trends. At the same time, originality is what makes a region’s fashion unique. Hence, many fashion designers seek out inspirations from across the globe and blend it in ethnic styles of clothing for Indians. However, the need for everyday, casual styles still dominate and that is where designers need to bring in originality in affordable ways.
I have so many outfit posts to share with you guys, at least 2-3 more and I haven’t got around editing, resizing or writing a post.
I didn’t post on the blog in such a long time, this was honestly the longest break I have taken from my blog per se, but I was posting a lot of content on my Instagram and other platforms.
Yesterday I posted about the ShopBop Black Friday Sale, this outfit and all the accessories are also from ShopBop co-incidentally 🙂
I am very conscious of my arms as they are my problem area, all of us have 1 or 2 problem areas in the body which tend to store stubborn fat which doesn’t go away even after you try hard and lose weight all over or do specific exercises for that part. For some, it’s the stomach or hips or thighs, for me my upper arms. I avoid sleeveless outfits for the same reason, because I dress as per my body type and avoid wearing outfits that accentuate my problem area, the first and basic rule 🙂
I do like off shoulder dresses as they hide my arm fat, but this one was a tie up and half backless/shoulder baring dress. Loved the lavender colour and floral print, this dress was overall very cute and fit me perfect like a glove.
Even though it does show my arms, I am ok with it this time 😀 I love the overall look and fit of this dress. I paired it with a simple white lace choker, a white DVF sling and silver Jeffrey Campbell bow slides with a unique and transparent heel.
I loved how it came about overall. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

P.S.: I am really sick currently, viral fever infected my liver, so resting and trying to be fine ASAP.
5 Times International Celebs Wore Sarees in India and Floored Us All!
From #iwearhandloom to #100sareepact and #protestsaree, a saree has come a long way and is definitely not at all sorry! Saree has come a long way. Not just Indian, but international celebrities too have put the saree on a pedestal. Be it for a saree as a symbol of diversity on international borders or an all-inclusive customary attempt to honour and compliment Indian traditions on a maiden voyage. A saree has arrived on the world stage and how! The world has opened up to the Indian traditional outfit and here we bring you 5-sightings of international celebrities in a saree!
Sophie Trudeau
The Canadian family won hearts and accolades for its down to earth manners and transparency on its India trip. While all of them looked amazing in Indian attire but it was Sophie who looked so graceful and elegant in a pearl white south Indian saree. She pulled the look of ethnic diva effortlessly and looked unbelievably charming.
Serena and Venus Williams
These ladies can kick some serious ass on a tennis court. Though, here you can take some lessons on how bad styling can ruin your looks even if you are a celebrity of an international repute. That velvet-y blouse is downright tacky and a big no. However, on other occasions, we know that this power duo knows how to rock a dress or two. This one certainly is going down in the fashion books as a disaster that could have been averted with little attention.
Oprah
Besides, learning a trick or two of draping a saree from Aishwarya Rai at her own show, she wears an Indian handloom saree when she is in the country. Though, it will be delightful to see her in a handloom saree made by local craftsman and artists than a designer’s.
Stacy Jacobs
It is often seen that international celebrities wear sarees as an honorary act and we would certainly like that to change! Not many of us know Stacy Jacobs. She is one woman who is single- handedly leading protests against the Trump government for the border along the Mexican border. She doesn’t hold any banners and believes that borders look beautiful only on sarees. Her stint with sarees started during her India visit in 2015. She deducted sarees has one impossibly beautiful outfit. She wears handloom sarees woven by tribes and local artisans in India.
Kim Kardashian
It was so refreshing to see Kim Kardashian in a saree. She brought her signature oomph and sensuality to the six-yard stunner. The sequins and shimmers look ethereal on her. She keeps accessories minimal to draw attention to her sculpted jawline and collar bones. The pleats on pallu are folded for a stylised look.
These beautiful and prominent international celebrities are wearing sarees and marking India’s presence on a global map. What’s your excuse for not wearing a saree to your office and rock it just like they do?
I am doing an outfit post after ages! I didn’t shoot anything new since Sept, almost 5-6 months apart from 1-2 campaigns in between which were not proper outfit shoots as such.
My photographer was busy with weddings and I wasn’t too keen in between. I had a bunch of things to shoot this time from this dress, to shoes and bag. I have also shopped a lot in the past 2-3 months from ShopBop, Zara and online H & M and Lulu & Sky, so expect more shoots and posts 😀
We did three outfits this time, and the first one was this. It’s a little difficult to get the venue and match the availability of photographer, venue and me i.e. on days when I don’t have events, shoots or any family stuff. So shooting 2-3 outfits at one go works best. But after two changes and clicking the third outfit, it gets a bit tiring :p
So anyhoo, coming back to this bright orange dress! I love yellow and orange, they are my favourite colours, apart from red. Anything bright and colourful and I am instantly attracted. I am loving mustard yellow, sunflower yellow, this orange and all sunset hues this summer (in fact, all year round :D)
This orange straight fit dress is from Afamado. It’s neither a shift dress nor a tight bodycon, but a straight, comfortable fit which hugs your body but doesn’t cling it.
Afamado has sizes from S to 6XL, so you can be any size and still you can get the dresses and they even have a ‘Made to Measure’ option where they can customize the outfit for you as per your exact measurements.
When I got this dress initially, it was quite loose and then they altered it for me. I lost some weight and it’s still a little loose, I clipped it from behind so that it gives a better fit 😀 But basically, it’s a boon for people who do not find the correct size in clothes as per their body type or have basic, boring things which they never like.
I love the interesting cold shoulder ruffled sleeves it has. I am not into sleeveless clothing, and this works perfectly for me. It’s not see through or sheer and I didn’t have to layer anything underneath.
I paired it with nude bow design shoes from Truffle Collection, these are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own and I have many! I am not comfortable wearing heels for a long period of time, but these I can wear. They are super comfortable and light weight, does not give any shoe bites plus look so cute! They work with everything from dresses to denims.
I chose this colourful Loeffler Randall sling with round pom pom kind of floral work on it. This bag is super cute and colourful and even though the dress is bright, the shoes were nude and the accents of this bag matched the dress well as it had orange too.
Overall I really liked this outfit and how it came through. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below 🙂
Also I am looking for something lemon print, top or dress, do let me know if you find it :p

Thankfully, the size zero fad is over. We Indians love our ladies with curves. Whatever be your body type – skinny, voluptuous, plus size, athletic or anything and everything else, women have curves, period (let’s not body shame please) and admire the ones who flaunt them tastefully, proudly and uninhibitedly! Ladies, you all have us slobbering. Fitness goals re-chalked and how!
1. Vidya Balan – Unarguably, the lady who had been hounded by the fashion fraternity, media and so-called fans for not fitting into the archetypal Euroepan-model like frame, the way Vidya chose to turn the cards in her favour with ‘The Dirty Picture’ (wherein she owned, flaunted and celebrated her natural curves) had everyone sighing over this South siren. Vidya Balan today is the first actress whose name explodes in one’s mind the minute “curvaceous” is mentioned.
2. Parineeti Chopra – Hounded in the name of being advised for long by every Tom, Dick and Harry for not being “in shape”, Parineeti transformed herself by 180 degrees by opting for a stringent fitness regimen that has enhanced her curves all the more. The baby fat that she had has now made way to toned and taut muscles. And that’s how you shush naysayers.
3. Huma Qureshi – Unapologetic about her naturally voluptuous curves, Huma Qureshi clearly owes no one perfection and is comfortable in flaunting her natural self like no other as evidenced by one of her iconic magazine cover shoots that stands nothing short of epoch- making. A powerhouse performer, she is the textbook definition of voluptuous.
4. Ileana D’Cruz – An angelic semblance and a waistline to kill for, South siren Ileana D’Cruz blends naivety with a dash of notoriety and mischief. No wonder Indian apparel highlights a woman’s curves tastefully and Ileana is no exception to that.
5. Jacqueline Fernandez – She oozes cheerfulness, boisterousness and joy, period. Sri Lankan beauty queen Jacqueline Fernandez has curves to die for. An athletic body frame with curves thrown in at the right places, who says that woman of only a particular body type qualify as curvaceous women? Jacqueline is here to refute you all point blank.
6. Sunny Leone – Unbridled and uninhibited sex appeal with a devil-may- care attitude wrapping it, Sunny Leone aka Karenjit Kaur Vohra has a body that’d leaving many drooling uncontrollably. The way she has shushed all her critics for belittling her previous career by never playing the victim card along with her noticeable and drool-inducing curves certainly raises her desirability quotient by leaps and bounds.
7. Bipasha Basu – Another fitness freak’s on our list and for very valid reason. Bong beauty Bipasha Basu has the quintessential gym-girl look with all her curves adorning her chiselled physique even more. Better hit the gym soon for that body is a work of dedication.
8. Chitrangada Singh – Bearing a strong resemblance to the dynamic performer late Smita Patil, Chitrangada Singh is your classic Indian beauty – big doe-shaped eyes, a warm sun-kissed skin tone that she (thankfully) hasn’t lightened and curves thrown in at the right places. Sultry, sensuous and enchanting, no wonder she leaves mouths agape. Oh by the way, she’s a mommy. Hit the gym, if you didn’t get that!
9. Zareen Khan- She started with Veer Zaara and has lost a lot of weight post that. For her debut Veer Zaara, she lost 30 kg from her original 90kg. She lifts weights and is currently the fittest curviest actress in Bollywood.
10. Bhumi Pednekar- The latest entrant to join the club, she was overweight and had lost all of her weight gradually and then she was offered her debut movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha for which she put on weight. Again her journey of losing the additional weight began, she is quite fit now. But is not stick thin, she resembles an ideal, healthy body.
Editor’s Note: That’s a great list Nidhal, I would add Kareena Kapoor to the list too!
Bollywood Actresses Who Nailed The Punjabi Kudi Look
By Nidhal
There is something indescribable about an archetypal Punjabi kudi, isn’t it? An aura of cheerfulness, pertness with oodles of vivaciousness and a my-way- or-the- highway attitude that she naturally exudes – Punjabi ladies compel one to take a second, more relaxed look at the firebrand lasses.
With respect to their choices in raiment, they know what they want and make no bones about it and boy, they look drop-dead gorgeous in everything that they swaddle themselves in as if it were tailor- made for them in the first place.
A number of our leading ladies in Tinsel-town have oft essayed Punjabi characters. While some went too loud and embarked on a cheesy treacle, others gripped the audience, critics and fashion connoisseurs effortlessly. Discounting for the ones who took the audience for a ride, here is a precis of those leading Bollywood Actresses Who Nailed The Punjabi Kudi Look.
1. ANUSHKA SHARMA- With a radiant skin, glossy mane, piercing gaze and go-getter persona, Anushka slipped into the role of a typical Punjabi girl from Delhi named Shruti Kakkar in Band Baaja Baaraat opposite then newcomer – Ranveer Singh effortlessly. While the flick was exalted for its fresh script and execution, we cannot get over the burst of vivaciousness Anushka brought to the silver screen with her Punjabi character.
2. KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN- Here comes a Punjabi kudi in real life too. It is trite that expectations hit the ceiling when a real-life Punjabi lass essays a reel-life Punjabi character. Kareena’s portrayal of the loudmouth but lovable Geet in the 2007 rom-com opposite Shahid Kapoor – Jab We Met, won her accolades and appreciation from all corners. Naturally, she looks an archetypal Punjabi lady onscreen convincingly!
3. ALIA BHATT- The young and perky actress swaddled herself in typical bright Punjabi outfits in the rom-com Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania opposite the livewire Varun Dhawan who played the titular role. With oodles of rumbustiousness and boisterousness, she looked adorable onscreen.
4. PREITY ZINTA- With that enviable dimple on her cheek, Preity Zinta slipped into the role of a rustic Punjabi lass effortlessly. Clad in colour co-ordinated Punjabi salwar Kameez, while beaming joyfully she infused a new energy on the 77 mm screen.
5. GENELIA D’SOUZA- The livewire Genelia essayed the character of a Punjabi girl – Mini in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya opposite her now-hubby Riteish Deshmukh. Donned in typical embellished Punjabi suits and exuding a carefree attitude, Genelia nailed the look.
6. KAJOL- And who can give the powerhouse performer Kajol’s role in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham a miss? Essaying the role of a typical Chandni Chowk motormouth, her portrayal is hard to miss. Chirpy, bubbling with gusto and an out and out live-wire, she hits the bulls-eye with her styling and acting chops.
7. SABA QAMAR – A newbie to B-town, Pakistani actress Saba Qamar’s acting credentials are hard to overlook. So is her cherubic semblance. In the critically and commercially acclaimed Hindi Medium, Saba essayed the role of Mita Batra and carried off the typical Delhi lingo, mannerisms and body language convincingly.
So with that, we wrap up the look-book for the day. Did we miss out on of the leading ladies who, in your view should have made it to our list?
P.S: I do not own the images in this post
Which ones out of the aforementioned ladies caught your eyes the most?
