Denims, more specifically, jeans, have taken over the clothing industry faster than any other garment has and are as widely embraced, worn and loved the world over. The classic symbol of the American West is now a staple in wardrobes around the world. From a waiter at a restaurant, to the most influential people in the world, everybody has jeans as an important part of their wardrobe.

Have you ever wondered why jeans are so popular?

The main reason for their popularity among the people was not only because of the different ways they are worn, but the different and particular styles in which they ‘wear’. The way jeans wear off over time or the way the “age” says a lot about the person wearing them. They have become a common representative for anyone and everyone’s unique personality. Durable, comfortable and yet stylish enough to always be a part of the latest trends, Jeans are forever.

Denim Over the years

The 70’s
This decade in particular was also popularly known as the “hippie age”. Embroidery, bright colors, stonewash, rhinestones and patches were just some of the jean trends of the time.

The 80’s

This decade is when designer denim was truly born. Designer jeans became a true status symbol. Stonewash, acid wash and ripped jeans were some of the most popular looks, along with skinny leg cuts that were tapered at the ankle

The 90’s

Carpenter jeans and Baggy Jeans were among the most trendy looks, as well as overalls, which were popular among women.

The 2000s

In the early 2000s, with the rise of pop culture denim also became a fashion staple once again, becoming an appropriate item of clothing to wear out on a Friday night or even to the office. A lot of new styles like skinny jeans and Straight cuts began to trend in a very strong manner.

OOTD: Being a Kid at Disneyland, Hong Kong

Hey guys,

Here is another OOTD from Hong Kong…from Disneyland 😀 Yay

Everyone becomes a kid again once you enter Disneyland..it was super fun, though in terms of rides, Ocean Park was much better. Disneyland is a place where the kids would enjoy a lot, where as adults would love Ocean Park and the rides there more.

I wore this fun blue tee which read ‘I am LOLing..what’s your mood today?’ with lots of smileys thrown in. How cute is it..I loved it and thought it was perfect for Disneyland.

Paired it with my blue denims and mint flats from Bata, accessorized with Daniel Wellington watch and a pearl and spiked bracelet.

Also my black blazer to layer since it cold there..Mumbai people not used to :p

Do you know there is a separate MTR just for Disneyland Resort station? One needs to change the MTR to get to Disneyland. Also the train has mickey mouse windows and handles..how adorable the train looked!

Wardrobe Full of Clothes But Nothing To Wear?

How many of you relate to this on some or the other days? :raises hand up slowly: Do you know that most women wear only 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time? #Fact

The main reason for a wardrobe brimming with clothes but still have nothing to wear, is unorganized/cluttered wardrobe.

Few ways in which you can organize your wardrobe in a much better way:

1) Donate

Do away with clothes you haven’t worn in the past 6 months..there is hardly any chance you would be wearing them anytime soon in the near future. Donate the old clothes and shoes (or the ones that no longer fit) to the needy, that way you have more space plus some extra blessings 🙂 Do not keep those old denims/tees, etc. waiting to lose weight and get back in them some day. You can always buy new clothes when you lose weight..a little motivation to work out harder 😀

2) Arrange

Arrange your clothes according to seasons..summer and winter clothing, according to formal, casual and Indian wear, maybe all denims together,skirts together,etc. I do that always, makes my job of finding clothes easy. Some people prefer arranging according to colors which is also a good idea.

3) Curb impulsive purchases

‘Sale’, ‘Flat 50% off’, ‘Clearance’,etc. are some magical words which attract us :p Been there, done that! Or even emotional shopping, having a bad day and there starts our  online shopping sites’ browsing. Do not give into the magical ‘sale’ word which is nothing but a marketing gimmick and also cut down on the emotional shopping! Shopping is no solution to our problems, its difficult but you can also try and restrict yourself to once a month or having a budget for shopping,etc.

4) Invest in key pieces

Anything that you have too many of needs to go, 5-6 pairs of black formal pants and denims, 3-4 white shirts, etc You do not need multiple of same things instead invest in some key pieces and quality stuff. Buy some premium western wear for women which are classic, can be worn on multiple occasions and you can create at least 3 different looks with! That, my friend, is the key.

5) Repeat the process

Keep cleaning, reorganizing and rearranging your wardrobe regularly, at least once in 6 months. Repeat this whole process and you are bound to keep your wardrobe in check.

Remember out of sight,out of mind. If you cannot see all of your clothes, you are never bound to wear them. Only the ones that are visible would be worn day in and day out while the rest just catches dust.

OOTD: A  Memorable Day at The Venetian,Macao

Hey guys,

Some of my outfit posts from my honeymoon were pending, so I thought of posting them and share some memories too. The Venetian is a beautiful place!! Its almost similar to the Las Vegas one, in fact all the hotels in Las Vegas are present in Macao too, the entire set up of the city has been made in a similar way.

If you love casinos, you will love Macao, if not, head directly to The Venetian! Its the best place in Macao and a must visit. Its a huge huge hotel with a mall inside and the entire mini Venice setup in between..so basically you see shops all around behind while taking a Gondola ride, right at the centre of the mall! And they have this fake blue skies setup above, so its always daytime there, even at 2 am at night 😀

We stayed one day at The Venetian, it is super expensive but it is so so worth every penny.

I wore this pretty floral skater dress which hugs beautifully till the waist and flares at the bottom..its one of my favourite dresses and what better place than to wear it at this beautiful location.

I paired it with my pearl statement necklace and a Daniel Wellington watch and a spiked and a pearl bracelet in one hand. I was carrying only 2-3 pairs of shoes, so wore these black ankle straped wedges. Unfortunately, I had worn these on the day of the accident and they just flew off when I had the huge fall. I will miss them 🙁

One funny incident related with the pic below..when I was getting my pics clicked, 1-2 random ladies from a group where also getting their pics clicked and suddenly came and started getting pics clicked with me 😀 Then another of her friend did the same..it was kinda weird and funny..may be they loved my dress or me..no idea :/

OOTD: Cliché Red on Valentine’s Day

Hey guys,

An OOTD after a long time, of course its not new since I can’t even stand yet but hopefully soon. I had done a shoot for this dress in early Jan and was waiting for an occasion to post it, when I saw the pics I thought today is the perfect day to post this red dress.

I am not a person who would usually wear red, so Valentine’s Day would have been a good occasion/reason to wear red.

I love how this dress fits snuggly, ends over the knees giving it a pencil skirt look and has pockets at the front. It is super comfy and figure flattering.

OOTD: Pink Princessy Gown, Sky High Heels

Hey guys,

This is a random OOTD I had to show you guys. I got this pretty pink evening gown from Buyingdress and I paired it with my highest heels coz obviously this gown is long. The heels are 6 inches 😀 I am glad there is platform of 2 inches which makes them comfortable and also they are very light weight.

I love the nude color, strappy design and the tassels behind.

Also the gown has this nice silver detailing on the neck and front, but its not over the top. I wore this diamond in rose gold set along with it and some pearl + diamante bracelets.

OOTD: Black Lace Maxi Dress

Hey guys,

So I had ordered for a beautiful beige lace maxi dress with a deep V back for my DJ function which is on 4th Dec but it has still not arrived :/

Hence,my 2nd option is this pretty black lace dress. This dress is perfect for a party, including a formal party, or a late night event, etc. Its formal and pretty at the same time.

The length needs some altering I believe, would check.

I paired it with my favourite Colorbar Darkened Summer Lipstick in Wild Mauve and gold dangling earrings with hair on one side. I intend to go for side swept curls for the function.

I don’t usually like cap sleeves coz it makes the arms look fatter which is also my problem area.

A gold cuff in one hand and black gold studded gladiator heels to finish the look. I might go for my Dune London shoes, still thinking. I plan to change into my red polka dots Wills Lifestyle knee length dress (which I had shared on my Instagram and twitter) later while dancing 😀

OOTD: Orange Bag, Black Studded Pumps

Hey everyone,

This time around I planned my OOTD keeping my new orange bag and my favourite black studded pumps in focus. I have hardly accessorized.

The top has dull gold thread and pearl detailing on the neck, so I skipped a neck piece and went for simple pearl Aldo studs.

I only wore a Daniel Wellington watch, so the full focus is on my bright bright orange bag and the lovely shoes.

 

This crocodile print bag is exactly the same as the one I have in black and you guys have seen in most of my OOTD’s and which I absolutely love. (I had shared it HERE as a part of my wishlist.)

And the new Dune London black studded pumps are also my latest love. (Just look at them! I can adore them forever) Dune London has a store in Palladium in Mumbai for those who are interested.

I also added this beige light drawstring trench, which is perfect for fall/winter and places like Mumbai where it is not too cold.

Loving my skin these days! I have absolutely no makeup/base on the face except my Ruby Woo 😀

OOTD: Little White Dress, Polka Dots Blazer

Hey everyone,

After Diwali and New Year and all the Indian wear, I am back with an OOTD again. I have so many Little Black Dresses (LBD’s) but a Little White Dress is also crucial in your wardrobe.

I went for a white bodycon Little White Dress (LWD) this time. It fits like a glove and of course I had to wear my shapewear underneath it (Sigh! Girl’s problems) But it looks quite elegant and chic with the gold chain detailing on the shoulders.

I skipped a statement necklace since it had the chain detailing and went for statement gold earrings instead. And finished it with gold and stone bracelet and rings from Silvette. I am absolutely loving them, these days <3

Finally my black suede block heels with gold ankle strap.

I also layered it with a polka dots denim blazer. This blazer is so multi-use,would work with many of my outfits from denims to dresses. Its warm, thick, fits perfectly, snugs correctly and looks amazing. What else would one want from a blazer ?! 😀 I love it!
