Himalaya Herbals Anti-Hair Fall Range Review : #4FabulousHair

Hi guys,

Many of us are facing hair fall with our current lifestyle and water. Diet is something which we have to take care of, to reduce hair fall. If we lack iron/folic acid, proteins, water/zinc/omega-3, we need to add them in our diet through food or multi-vitamins.

The external factors like dirt, harsh shampoos, hard water, dandruff, etc. which lead to hair fall can be controlled with a proper range of hair care and correct use.

Himalaya Herbals has an entire anti-hair fall range and I gave that a try..

There are four steps in their range and four products i.e. oil, shampoo, conditioner and cream.

Steps

Anti-Hair Fall Oil

Claims: Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Hair Oil prevents hair fall and stimulates hair growth. It is enriched with the goodness of Bhringaraja and Amalaki which strengthen the root shafts and prevent hair fall.

Key ingredients:

Bhringaraja is rich in phytochemicals like eclalbosaponins and wedelolactone which help promote hair growth and strengthen the hair root, and keeping hair healthy.

Amalaki, a natural hair tonic used extensively in Ayurveda, is an effective ingredient for treating the hair and scalp. It strengthens hair follicles and promotes hair growth.

Directions for use: Part your hair and apply Anti-Hair Fall Hair Oil on the scalp. Massage the scalp gently in a circular motion using your fingertips so that the oil is absorbed into the scalp. Leave for an hour or more before washing.

MRP: Rs.100/- for 100ml

Ingredients:

Anti- Hair Fall Shampoo

Claims: Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo is a breakthrough 2-in-1 formula that reduces hair fall and provides nourishment to hair shafts. It also conditions and improves your hair texture to reduce hair fall due to breakage. The herbs Butea Frondosa and Bhringaraja stimulate hair follicle growth and are effective in strengthening hair roots and controlling hair fall.

Key ingredients:

Butea Frondosa or ‘flame of the forest’ is native to India and Southeast Asia. It strengthens hair and helps promote hair growth.

Bhringaraja is traditionally used in Ayurveda for hair growth and hair dyeing. It nourishes the hair root, improves hair texture and reduces hair fall.

Directions for use: Gently massage the shampoo into wet hair and scalp. Leave for two to three minutes, and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.

Effective for all hair types. Safe to use on artificially colored or permed hair.

MRP: Rs.130/- for 200ml

Anti-Hair Fall Conditioner

Claims: Himalaya Anti-Hair Fall Conditioner nourishes, fortifies, and improves the texture of hair, making it smooth, soft, and healthy. Enriched with protein-rich herbs like Bringaraja and Chickpea, it stimulates hair follicle growth and effectively strengthens hair strands and roots, helping control hair fall.

Key ingredients:

Bhringaraja

Butea Frondosa (Palasha)

Chickpea, a rich, natural source of protein, effectively nourishes hair, making it healthy and strong.

Directions for use: After shampooing, gently apply Himalaya Anti-Hair fall Conditioner along the length of wet hair from base to tip. Leave for two minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

For best results, use in combination with Himalaya Anti-Hair Fall Oil, Himalaya Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo, and Anti-Hair Fall Hair Cream.

MRP: Rs.130/- for 200ml

Anti-Hair Fall Cream

Claims: Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Cream is a unique, daily-use formula which reduces hair fall and strengthens hair follicles. The goodness of essential herbs like Bhringaraja and Amla nourish hair from the roots, help reduce hair fall, improve hair growth, and strengthen hair follicles.

Key ingredients:

Bhringaraja

Amla

Directions for use: Massage Anti-Hair Fall Cream gently into the scalp using a circular motion. Use regularly before and after shampooing to reduce hair fall and maintain healthy hair.

For best results, shampoo hair with Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo.

MRP: Rs.80/- for 100ml

The cream can be used before or after hair wash i.e. as a deep conditioner. I either oil my hair if I have an hour before I shampoo or I use the cream as a pre treatment, 10-15 minutes before washing my hair.

The oil is very light in texture and non-sticky as claimed, it gets absorbed easily and is easy to wash off as well. It does help a bit with hair fall, I will have to use it more regularly to see visible results in hair growth though.

Both the shampoo and conditioner are white in colour and have a soft, floral smell. They are very light weight and do not weigh down the hair or make them flat.

Shampoo foams and cleans the scalp well, and the conditioner does moisturize the ends and give them enough hydration. But if you have very dry hair and need extra hydration towards the ends, I would suggest using the cream regularly.

The cream is very rich and moisturizing, it’s perfect for dry hair. I love using it as a pre-treatment, so that it doesn’t weigh down my hair and yet I get it’s benefits.

Overall I am loving this range and I definitely see a visible difference in my hair fall during and post hair wash, plus regularly too. The hair I see each time I comb my hair, is reduced to a great extent.

If you are looking for a good anti-hair fall hair care range, definitely try out this new Himlaya Herbals Range.

Satthwa Premium Hair Oil for Hair Fall Control & Hair Growth Review

Satthwa Premium Hair Oil for Hair Fall Control & Hair Growth Review

Hi guys,

What can the oil do? Within the 1st-2nd wash after use, you can feel the difference in the health of your hair (Soft and shine). In a month of use, it reduces hair fall and eliminate dandruff within 3-4 months it will help with regrowth of hair. MRP: Rs.599/- for 100ml

Buy on Flipkart or Paytm

I always mix a few different oils when I have to oil my hair. This was a readymade mix of 9 different oils including Emu oil which is the main oil here for hair growth.

I tested this product for a long time, coz I definitely saw results in 2-3 uses in terms of softness and shine, and after one month use, saw some difference in my hair fall too. It was reduced to a great extent. But in terms of hair growth, the growing phase takes time and hence I am reviewing it now after 3 months.

It comes in this small plastic bottle with a white flip cap packaging. The oil is not very runny or thin, but neither too goopy or thick. It’s the perfect consistency and easy to use. Also the flip cap shuts tight and it doesn’t leak.

I love how each oil has a different benefit and a blend of all is giving all the benefits together. That makes this oil a blend of a lot of different vitamins and nutrients and you don’t need anything else additionally when using this.

It also helps in dandruff and greying of hair, along with hair fall and promoting hair growth. I usually suffer from dandruff in the Dec-Jan winter period coz of dry scalp and dryness in general. I have already seen some difference in my dandruff with this, I am pretty sure this will help keep the dandruff at bay this winter.

I do not have a lot of hair fall and still saw difference with this. I even made my husband try this and he saw difference in his hair fall too.

The only con would be the smell, it’s not very pleasing. But then this is 100% chemical free and only a blend of oils with no other chemicals, parabens or artificial fragrance in it. So can’t complain 😀

Also I know this is slightly on the expensive side, but some of the oils in this are expensive and not easily available. So anyway you cannot make this same blend at home and/or you will need to buy 9 different oils separately.

Since this works, the price is justifiable. And I totally recommend it! Many of you have been asking me a hair remedy or product for hair fall or promoting hair growth, look no further as we have found the perfect product here.

Khadi Trifla Powder Review & How to use for Hair

Khadi Trifla Powder Review & How to use for Hair

By Nidhal

The most common and irksome hair woe everyone be it a man or a woman faces today is the dreaded 8-lettered word ‘HAIR FALL’. Didn’t it send shivers down your spine? Its roots (no pun intended) find origin in myriad causes ranging from stress to poor/substandard quality of products used, from bombarding oneself with chemical-laden products to diet deficient in proteins. ‘When everything fails, head to Granny dearest’ is the mantra I espouse and live by both metaphorically and literally.

My grandmother’s pearls of wisdom in the realm of hair care have always had one product since times immemorial. No points for guessing ( for you would have already seen what it is thanks to the title of the post), it is TRIFALA POWDER (also called ‘Triphala’). It is a blend of three herbs- Amlaki (Amla), Haritaki (Harar/Hadad) and Bibhitaaki (Bahera/Baheda). And the three together, pack a punch at so many hair woes that you’d be left wondering why on Earth didn’t you use it before.

Trifla Powder is also excellent for people suffering from constipation, acidity and irregular bowel movements. You just need to have one spoon with water whenever you feel bloated or have irregular bowel movement. Do not have it regularly as the body gets used to it.

I grabbed KHADI TRIFALA powder from a Khadi store in Delhi a few months ago. Today is the time for us to know if it deserves a second try or not 🙂

PRICE- Rs 45/- for 200 g

DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Mix Khadi Trifala powder in the base ingredient. Mix well. Apply on scalp and hair. Rinse with cool water.

INGREDIENTS- Amla, Harar and Bahera

WHAT IT CLAIMS- Trifala is good for constipation and acidity. It regulates bowel movement. (This indicates that the product is edible)

MY EXPERIENCE-

Packed in a simple plastic pack, the packaging of Khadi Trifala powder is way too simplistic in fact, underwhelming. Once cut open, the contents need to be transferred to either a clean container or a zipper pouch. Carrying it while travelling is a hassle both ways. As a result, I think it would be better if Khadi revisits its packaging decision for the current one for this product is disappointing.

Khadi Trifala powder is finely powdered and that makes it a cakewalk to mix it with the base ingredient of one’s choice be it curd, water, raw milk or anything that suits one’s hair type. Since my hair type is dry, I team it up with coconut milk. I suffer from one hair woe and that is why I opt for coconut milk because of its intensely hydrating properties.

I have used the above concoction for a month consistently without fail twice a week and what I noted was an improvement in my mane’s volume, strength and frizz control. It softened and imparted shine/lustre too but that wasn’t as praiseworthy as some of the herbal powders I had used in the past such as-hibiscus powder. It is important, I believe to be realistic. One product cannot be a Hindi film hero who’d bash all the goons to pulp, mouth one-liners that’ll make the audience whistle in awe, rescue his leading lady and basically do everything 😛

This product is no different. When used consistently over a period of time with the right base ingredient, it works wonders in some spheres (say-volume increase, strength, frizz control) but doesn’t perform as well as expected in some (shine and softness). Perhaps, addition of a few more ingredients to the above mix help me achieve my ‘unachieved goals’. All in all, it is a good investment keeping the price and its benefits in mind. Go grab a few packets to treat your mane naturally!

GOOD-

1. Dirt-cheap

2. A single pack will last long. Each pack contains 200 g of Trifala powder which is sufficient to last long.

3. Finely powdered hence, mixing with any base ingredient is cushy.

4. Gives complete volition to the user to mix with whichever base ingredient one wants to say- milk, curd, water, etc.

5. Strengthens hair overtime

6. Removal is easy

7. Other ingredients can be added to the Trifala+ base ingredient mix such as- Reetha powder, shikakai powder, tulsi powder, etc.

8. Makes one’s tresses voluminous

9. Suitable for use by all

10. Natural. No chemicals pumped into it hence, a safe solution to combat hair woes.

BAD-

1. Limited availability. It isn’t easily available online. The only option currently is to visit a Khadi store and grab it.

2. Does not impart as much shine as is expected from Trifala powder (Amla imparts shine)

3. Packaging needs to be improved. The provision of a zipper pack will be better.

4. Does not soften hair much. I have used some herbal powders before and this powder does not soften my tresses as much as those did. That said, it does not even dry my hair too.

RATING-4.5/5

Editor’s Note: Trifla is fabulous, I have had it often as a part of capsules if I suffer from irregular bowel movement. But I have not used it directly as a mask, though a part of hair masks in general. I would surely give this a try Nidhal.

Top 5 Natural DIY Hair Conditioning Treatments

Top 5 Natural DIY Hair Conditioning Treatments

By Somreeta

The dry and cold weather during the winter months tend to strip your hair of moisture. As a result, your tresses look dull, frizzy, and lifeless. Dry hair is more prone to breakage and develops split ends. Hence, it is important to nourish and condition your hair. The right kind of conditioning treatments during the winters would help to lock in moisture content in the hair shafts, thereby making your hair soft and manageable. Check out the top 5 natural hair conditioning treatments that are not only simple but also effective.

1. BANANA NOURISHING HAIR TREATMENT: Put a ripe banana, 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 tablespoons of honey in a blender. Blend well and apply this rich concoction on your hair shafts. Olive oil is one of the best known natural moisturizers while honey is a natural humectant. Banana helps minimize contraction while nourishing your hair thoroughly. After 30 minutes, wash it off. Be patient while washing, as banana tends to stick to your hair. Do it once a week for best results.

2. WHOLESOME EGG TREATMENT: Whisk an egg, 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise and a cup of plain yogurt in a bowl and apply the mixture liberally on your hair strands. The natural proteins and vitamins present in egg works wonders in strengthening the hair follicles and bringing about significant reduction in dryness. Yogurt makes hair soft while mayonnaise moisturises your hair. Wait for 45 minutes post application and rinse thoroughly with trepid water and shampoo. This homemade hair treatment can be done twice every week.

3. AVOCADO PROTEIN HAIR TREATMENT: Avocado is a rich storehouse of natural proteins and oils. Mash an avocado and add 5 to 6 drops of peppermint oil. Shampoo your hair, squeeze the water out and apply this mask. Wait for about 20 minutes and rinse well. Hair feels soft, smooth and hydrated.

4. CLASSIC MILK AND HONEY TREATMENT: It is pretty easy to prepare this classic hair mask. Mix two tablespoons of honey to a cup of whole milk and apply this natural hair potion along the length of your hair. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse well. This mask strengthens your hair, moisturises it and rejuvenates dry hair. Do this treatment twice every week to see amazing results.

5. HOT OIL TREATMENT: The homemade hot oil treatment has stood the test of time. Warm up any natural oil of your choice and massage your hair and scalp well. You could use olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. You may even love to blend two oils in equal amounts and then, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for extra benefits. Follow up with turban therapy and then shampoo. Hair feels soft, moisturized and well-nourished.

Isn’t t easy to attain gorgeous locks just by following a few homemade hair care treatments? Opt for these DIY conditioners and get beautiful and nourished hair, naturally!

Editor’s Note: I so agree with Hot Oil one. I am going to try a few of these for sure, especially milk and honey 🙂 Nice post Somreeta

MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner Review

MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner Review

Hi guys, I had this Moisture Repair Range since a long time but never really got to use it. Since this range is meant for dry and damaged hair, I thought the winters would be the perfect time to use it.

MoroccanOil products are sulphate, phosphate and paraben free and Color Safe.

What the Company claims: Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner are for hair that has been weakened or damaged by color, chemical processing or heat styling. They restore hair by bathing it in a highly concentrated formula rich in antioxidant argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids. Both products restore elasticity, moisture and manageability. The formulas are free of sulfates, phosphates and parabens, so they’re safer for the environment and won’t dry, fade or strip color-treated hair.

Directions:

To Use the Shampoo: Because Moisture Repair Shampoo uses a highly concentrated, water-loving formula, begin by using plenty of water to activate the shampoo into a rich, luxurious lather. Add more water if necessary. Massage through hair and scalp. Rinse and follow with Moisture Repair Conditioner.

To Use the Conditioner: Gently squeeze excess water from hair and apply a small amount of the highly concentrated conditioner from roots to ends. Leave in for 1–2 minutes. Rinse well.

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 250ml (BUY HERE)

To start with, I love the blue and white round packaging, the color is quite bright. It has a flip cap and the shampoo being blue and conditioner being white, it’s easy to distinguish.

It has an off white tint and is quite runny. It foams and cleanses the hair well, but if you have oiled your hair, you will need to shampoo twice. Also as they have mentioned in the directions above, it does need a wet base and lot of water to foam up. Since I wash my hair twice a week, I do need to shampoo twice to cleanse my hair well.

Conditioner

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 250ml (BUY HERE)

The conditioner is thick and creamy and off white in color. It is quite rich in texture, it does hydrate the lower half and ends where it is applied, really well. Also it is easy to wash off.

Hair is soft, smooth and frizz free. No trace of dryness at all.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a slight argan oil kind of smell, not very pleasant but kind of ok. It’s quite a rich range and even though I used it for winters, it is still rich for me. I have normal hair which are straight to wavy, they are not very dry or voluminous and neither damaged. I do not use heat, color, chemicals on my hair, so my hair is quite healthy and for my hair, this range was over rich. It weighed down my hair and also my hair looked oily 2 days post washing, which does not usually happen. My hair stays well behaved for 3 days post washing, sometimes even 4. (Perhaps I should also try the ‘Reverse Shampoo’ technique with this, do you guys know about it? Would you like a blog post?)

I loved the ingredients, it has argan oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, chamomile leaf extract, lavender extract, rosemary oil, castor oil, glycerine and even panthenol and hydrolyzed keratin. It has all the ‘good things’ needed for the hair. It is the best thing for dry and damaged hair coz the keratin and panthenol along with all the oils will deeply repair the damage and also control the volume and frizz.

For me since I do not have dry or damaged hair, I would skip this, maybe I would use this once a month or so or when I have travelled a lot or my hair has gone through some heat. I would love to try their other Hydrating Range. For now, I have switched back to Wella Pro Elements Range.

Moroccanoil is pricey and also available at selected salons, but now you can get it online on Amazon too. But being all chemical and sulphate free, it is perfect for cysteine, rebonded, colored hair or that has gone through any chemical procedure. And while being color and treatment safe, it will also repair, nourish and hydrate at the same time. Definitely recommend this range for dry, damaged and treated hair.

How to Make your Hair Stronger & Thicker Naturally

How to Make your Hair Stronger & Thicker Naturally

Do you want a stronger, thicker mane? Well, who doesn’t. One of the main causes for weak hair is thinning, which makes it more prone to hair fall, and inversely overall thinner density and fine hair. Many of you have always asked for my hair care routine, now I don’t follow particular brands all the time, but these tips are something I follow in general always.

This is my natural hair which is curled..no extensions
Straight Hair

Read on to know how you can get stronger & thicker hair naturally.

1. Washing hair on alternate days

If you are washing hair every day, then you are washing off the natural oils from the scalp, which keep the scalp healthy. On the contrary, if you are washing it just once a week, you are letting dirt and dandruff settle on your scalp making it more prone to hair fall. The frequency of washing hair should be moderate, preferably once every two-three days.

2. Never brush wet hair

Never ever do that. This is a strict NO-NO. Wet hair is prone to breakage. It may come off from the roots or even split in parts. Invest in a wide tooth comb, preferably made of wood, to comb through wet hair with a very gentle hand. Take a firm grip of your hair in small bunches, while combing through the roots, so that the roots are not succumbed to unnecessary pulls.

3. Well Balanced Diet

Your hair may be thin because the roots are unable to get the nutrients it needs, from your diet. Proteins and Vitamins are an absolute necessity for your hair. Include fish, daal, pulses, and soybeans (for proteins) And nuts, fruits and veggies (for Vitamin B, Biotin and Omega 3 Fatty Acids). Flax seeds, Avocado deserve special mention as a rich source of Vitamins. Also, Vitamin C helps promote hair growth, so a lot of citrus based fruits and Amla must also be included. As a last resort, you can also take supplements which usually contain biotin, fish oil, protein, multi-vitamins, etc. Also, drink lots of water as mentioned always.

4. Massage your scalp

Massage your scalp daily with your fingertips with a gentle hand for better blood circulation of the head and scalp. You can also go for an overnight oil treatment or a one hour massage just before you shampoo, with warm coconut or olive oil or a mix of both. I also add Evian Vitamin E capsule oil at times.

5. Avoid hot tools

Use hot tools only during special occasions (read once in a blue moon). Avoid it as much as you can. Air dry your hair instead of a blow dryer and use frizz-fighting products. If you still have to use hot tools, always use a heat protectant.

6. Protect your hair

Protect your hair from direct sunlight by using hats, scarves, etc. Go for regular trimming to get rid of split ends and breakage.

7. Do not color your hair

I know if someone has grey hair and wants to cover that, coloring is necessary but if want to color your hair just for the fun of it, you are going to damage your hair, especially if you go for lighter colors like a blonde which requires bleaching of the hair. It thins your hair to 1/4th of the original size! I have pictures and would find them and add them maybe. I had just gone for highlights on a few strands a year ago and that too a darker color but I literally saw the size difference in the colored strand of hair and my normal strand of hair! I am never coloring my hair again, unless I have way too many greys. Also would prefer using something natural first like henna or sesame oil if that can help. But of course if you want to color anyway, always take good care of your hair by regular oiling, deep conditioning, etc. coz color does thin and dry out your hair!

All the above tips when followed religiously would help reduce hair loss and promote new hair growth which will help your hair become stronger and thicker.

I follow all of these and try to follow the diet one as much as a I can. I rarely use a blow dryer or straighter, I prefer natural, air dried hair and let my hair be. I always use a conditioner post shampoo and also a leave-in serum or cream, I like MoroccanOil and Kerastase for that.

Read another similar hair concerns post HERE and more hair care posts HERE.

I have gone shorter this year coz I wanted a change but I am sure my hair will grow back again quickly 🙂

Do you follow these tips? What do you do for stronger, thicker hair?

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Range Shampoo, Conditioner Review

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Range Shampoo, Conditioner Review

Hi guys,

So after I finished using the Dove Oxygen Moisture Range, I tried this new TRESemme Ionic Strength Range and here is my review.

What the Company claims:  This innovative range is inspired from salon treatments that “reconstruct”and “repair” hair that has been exposed to styling and in the process, weakened and damaged. The Advanced IONIC Complex in this new range nourishes the hair and forms a protective shield, allowing it to withstand the potential damage due to heat styling tools and frequent brushing, while also reinforcing hair’s natural strength. Gentle enough for daily use, TRESemméIonic Strength ensures your hair is strong and beautifully soft making it manageable, like you have just stepped out of a salon.

How does the product work?

Using an electric appliance on your hair can damage it. Damaged hair has more negative charge. TRESemmé Ionic Strength technology with ionic complex contains positively charged ingredients which get attracted to the negatively charged damaged hair, making it smoother. When used with Ionic Strength conditioner it helps restore and nourish your hair, reinforcing its natural protection to damage.

MRP: TRESemmé Ionic Strength Shampoo 190ml Rs. 185, 580ml Rs. 415

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Conditioner 85ml Rs. 94,  190ml Rs. 185

Ingredients Shampoo:

Ingredients Conditioner:

It comes in the trademark TRESemme black and white packaging with a press button flip to open and shut. Also it has the same runny white shampoo and a thick white conditioner as the other TRESemme ranges. Smells also almost the same. My favourite TRESemme Range was the Split End Remedy one, that reminds me it’s been ages I have not used that and should try that again soon!

The shampoo foams amazingly well and cleans your scalp and hair nicely, it is very hydrating and moisturising, so it actually would hydrate the dry, damaged hair as claimed. I don’t have dry hair and neither is my hair chemically treated or colored, so I did not see much of a difference in that. But it definitely left my hair softer and smoother, only thing being since my hair is not dry, rich shampoos kind of weigh my hair down and I do not get volume and bounce.

I love volume in my hair and the Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo actually used to give me amazing volume, since I used this shampoo directly after Dove, it was a straight comparision in my head and that is the only thing I don’t really like in this shampoo. However the same thing is a boon for dry, damaged hair.

Conditioner is rich and hydrating again, it untangles all the knots left while washing the hair and makes your fingers slide through the hair easily. I do like rich conditioners especially for the end parts of the hair and I quite like this.

At Rs.185/- it is slightly expensive than other shampoos and conditioners, but the difference is not much. I like it when brand has different sizes available and the smaller ones are perfect for travel.

Overall I would say, if you have dry, damaged hair, use a lot of heat, coloring, etc, this range will work really well on your hair. However, if your hair is normal, not very dry and you are not into coloring or heat, I would suggest using the Dove Oxygen Moisture Range. If I have to choose one for myself, I would go with Dove. I like this range but it is not my favourite

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil Cream Review

Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil Cream Review

What the Company claims: Drawing inspiration from our legendary Elixir Ultime Oil, we have now created a unique concept in hair care – the revolutionary ‘Elixir Ultime Beautifying Cream’.

Infused with the goodness of oil, the ease of a cream and the lightness of a silk veil, it was created for the Kérastase woman of today, who deserves and expects perfection and pampering, in every aspect of her life.

Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Beautifying Oil Cream beautifully nourishes and softens hair without weighing it down.

Enriched with the Oleo-Complexe and infused with the delicate floral scent of Millennium Rose, Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Beautifying Oil Cream is a versatile beautifying oil which protects hair against external aggressors.

Directions: Apply Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Beautifying Oil Cream to damp hair. Leave in.

MRP: Rs.2200/- for 150ml

Ingredients:

I have tried lots of hair serums from different brands, also the Kerastase Resistance Fibre Architecte Serum which I loved but had not tried the Elixir Ultime Oil yet. I had heard lots of good things about it and then I got the chance to try their recent new launch, the Kerastase Elixir Beautifying Oil Cream which co-incidentally came with the Elixir Ultime Classic Oil.

The Kerastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil Cream comes in a long golden tube packaging, the only con with the tube packaging is one cannot know how much product is left inside.

It comes seal packed, so you can be rest assured of the product and also there is no spillage before you open and try the product, as happens with a few without the seal, being smeared all around in the cap.

It is a white colored cream, very light and runny in texture, it feels almost water based, even though it is oil based. It has very tiny shimmer particles which will be left all over your hands, after using it on the hair.

I take a tiny pea sized amount and use it from 2 inches above the roots to the tips, as mentioned. I add in extra if I feel I need more, but that is very rare.

Residue Shimmer

I love how light weight it is, that it blends seamlessly and just evaporates from the hair like you haven’t applied anything at all. I use it on still a bit damp but towel-dried hair and let it air dry naturally.

It has controlled about 90% of my frizz even in these monsoons when I face the frizz issue the most. My hair is soft and smooth to touch post drying and the tiny shimmer is what gives the hair a nice shine too.

Only caution I would like to mention is do not use too much or it weighs down the hair and gives it a wet look.

I also use it in one other way, i.e. mixing the Kerastase Beautifying Oil Cream with a little bit of Kerastase Elixir Ultime Classic Oil and then applying the combo, it works like MAGIC! Trust me, my hair feels and looks the best with this combo.

Mixing both

I can just say I am in LOVE with this! I absolutely love this Beautifying Oil Cream and highly recommend it!

Only con I would say is the price, it’s a bit on the higher side and the availability, it is salon-exclusive or you would get it at stand-alone Kerastase stores. But 150ml is still a very good quantity, considering most Kerastase products are 30 to 50ml for around the same price.

MRP: Rs.1195/- (Available for Rs.1045/- on Flipkart)

To start with, it is the most small and handy hair straightener I have come across till date, very convenient for packing along. I love the black and pink color. The plates are not too wide, so you can only cover a smaller portion of hair part by part.

I love the fact that it heats up instantly, no waiting here at all! It heats up to 210°C and there is no heat setting here, you just plug it in and start using it. The cord is long enough and the swivel head helps you work around your hair without hassles.

The ceramic plates are safe for your hair and give a smoother result. I have almost straight hair but with wavy ends, I usually need to straighten the lower half for smooth, straight looking hair.

Now this is quite small and handy and best used for daily use, when you just want to straighten your bangs or the ends like how I use it. If you have long or curly hair and want a completely straight look, this is not the product for you as that needs wider plates and more heat.

Ignore my half makeup face, as I jump from hair to makeup to outfit when in a hurry :p

Coming to the price, it is very economical and a straightener at 1000 bucks is a boon for college goers. Also, this product is perfect for them as it can be easily carried along in their bags when they directly go partying from college 😀 Philips’ products come with a 2 year warranty, that again is a plus.

This is the ‘After Straightening’ result on me..I have used it on my lower half of the hair.

As you can see, hair is not poker straight but a lot straighter and less frizzy. I prefer the natural look it gives.

Overall I would say it is a must buy if you are in college and looking for something on a budget or need a straightener to carry with along during travels.

Have you tried the new Philips Selfie Straightener?

Shampoo for Different Kinds of Hair

Shampoo for Different Kinds of Hair

This is the common type of question people ask when it comes to hair care, which shampoo and conditioner would suit my hair. Now there are different kinds of hair, some are oily, some dry, curly, wavy, straight.frizzy, etc

Now what kind of shampoo would suit which hair type..let’s get on to this..

1. Dry hair

Your hair needs moisture and at the same time if you are washing your hair daily,it is getting ripped off the moisture. So you need a shampoo that is creamy and moisturising and yet gentle enough for everyday use. Also dry hair is more susceptible to hairfall and breakage since they are more brittle. A good, rich conditioner is also required for dry hair. I absolutely love the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolute Repair Lipidium Shampoo and Mask. Or the Schwarzkopf Professional BC Repair Rescue Range. You can also follow with a good hair serum for the ends. Look for ingredients with naturals oils, shea butter, etc in the shampoos and conditioners. Oil based shampoos like L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish also work for dry hair. Oil your hair once a week for an hour before shampooing.

2. Oily hair

This type of hair is more sticky and limp due to excessive sebum production, Make sure you do not massage your scalp a lot, leading to stimulation of the glands and also wash hair with warm water and not hot. A gentle, clear gel based shampoo works for your hair type, something like Biotique Bio Green Apple Fresh Daily Purifying Shampoo or Omved Brahmi & Peppermint Shampoo. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week. Look out for ingredients like Panthenol and Wheat Protein in the shampoo. Also use the conditioner only towards the ends.

3. Coloured/Straightened Hair

Since the hair has gone through chemical treatments, it is best to use a SLS free shampoo so as to let the effect stay longer. The Body Shop Rainforest Range is SLS free and all natural. There are also a few natural brands like Omved and SoulTree which have SLS free shampoos.

4. Curly hair

Curly hair needs a right shampoo to maintain its curls and texture. You do not want straighter looking hair which actually leads to neither straight nor curls kind of hair. To maintain the natural form of the curls, a separate shampoo for curly hair is needed. I would recommend Curly Twirls, Kerastase Nutritive Bain OleoCurl Curl Definition Shampoo or TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Shampoo.

If you have frizzy hair, a shampoo recommended for dry skin above would work. A good serum will help control frizz and also avoiding heating tools as much as possible, would keep frizz under control.

What kind of hair do you have? And what shampoo do you use?
