I attended the Toni & Guy HairMeetWardrobe event on 7th at Taj Lands End, Bandra..was a fun night..here is the official press release..

Make a side parting to your wet hair and braid the larger section of hair, framing your face. Follow the
same method of braiding as you would for a French braid. You could either leave the rest of your hair
open, or make a ponytail with this section and secure your braid around it.

Twist it up

Make a side parting to your wet hair and gather 2 inches of hair of the larger section, all along the frame of your face. Twist this section tightly throughout its length and tie it up with the rest of your hair into a side ponytail (position it towards the larger section) and wrap the twisted section around it. Use bobby pins to keep it in place.

Embellished buns

A low bun is the easiest way to style wet hair. However, to make it look more interesting, keep
accessories like stylish bobby pins handy to give your bun a more contemporary look. While styling
wet hair, remember to be gentle, since it is most susceptible to breakage.

3. Holding the end with one hand, start twisting the hair around the end in a clockwise direction.
4. Tuck the ends inside.
5. Secure with a rubber band.
6. Done !

5 Hairstyles You Can Do in Under 5 Minutes

No Heat Waves

Spending time with a curling iron or hot rollers defeats the purpose of effortless, beachy waves. Rhys has four easy steps to creating chic waves like Nicole Richie’s without plugging in a single styling tool.

Wash your hair the day before you plan to wear the style. Apply a light-hold gel to damp hair and comb through to evenly saturate each strand.
Next, section hair into quadrants: two in the front of your head, and two in the back.
Wrap each quadrant into a bun and secure with a hair elastic. “Place your buns in the back off to either side, or right behind your ears, so you can still sleep comfortably on the back of your head,” Rhys recommends.
Finally, take down all four buns in the morning, mist hair with hairspray, and use your hands to lightly shake out your new waves from the roots to the ends.

Harajuku High Bun


High buns aren’t just for ballerinas anymore. But this bun is fuller, looser, and more fun than the severe, pulled-back styles you might see on a dancer. The result is a look like Vanessa Hudgens’s that Rhys says is “cute yet high fashion” and a surprisingly easy hairstyle to create.
Tilt your head forward to collect hair at the top of your crown (the high point at the back of your head). Use a boar bristle brush to gather hair into a tight ponytail.
Pull the hair in the ponytail forward, and spray with hairspray. Then, lift the tail of your ponytail straight up and back comb, or tease, to create soft texture and volume. “This will create a perfect contrast of smooth and messy hair textures,” Rhys says.
Loosely wrap ponytail around the hair elastic. Secure with bobby pins and mist with hairspray.

The London Flip


This is a quick trick that Jennifer Aniston wears well. It’s an easy way to add volume and texture to fine, long hair that tends to fall straight, Rhys says. Use it to extend and refresh a sleek blow-out. The result is a classy, tousled look that’s super easy to achieve.
First, flip your head upside down and spray dry hair with a light hair spray.
Next, create a deep side part extending about four inches back from your forehead. Then wrap large sections of hair (about 2 inches wide) from about ear level to the ends around a large-barrel curling iron.
Alternate the direction of curls of each section for a soft and natural movement.
Mist each curled section with hairspray and gently shake loose.

Boho Braids



Forget any Pippi Longstocking images braids bring to mind. Tiny braids can look both glamorous and sexy (exhibit A: Blake Lively). Best of all, Rhys says, this works for any hair texture— straight, wavy, or curly hair—and the braids can be as thin (or thick) as you want them to be.
Starting with dry hair, work a drop of shine serum through hair. Make a natural part and section out one small chunk of hair toward the front of your head on each side. (You don’t need to be symmetrical for this to work.)
Braid each section close to the head and fasten each with a clear hair elastic.
Pull the braids together at the back of the head and secure with bobby pins.

The Sleek Ponytail


To beat heat and frizz, “never underestimate a ponytail,” Rhys says. “While the ponytail has always been a go-to style for any girl in a time crunch, you can make it modern instead of lazy with this sleek and smooth pony makeover like Ciara’s.”
Start by misting dry hair with a light-hold hairspray. Then use a flat iron to smooth your hair from root to ends.
Use a fine-tooth comb to create a center part that ends about three inches from your forehead. Smooth frizz and flyaways with a boar bristle brush.
Collect your hair loosely in your hand about two inches above the nape of your neck and fasten it securely with a hair elastic.

Essential Looks CATWALK TO SALON Collection 2: 2012 is presented in four moods:

ECCENTRIC HERITAGE

On the Autumn/Winter runways traditional looks were twisted, shaken and subverted. Plundering the past for inspiration, designers mashed up military detailing with country garb and ladylike chic to great visual effect. Marc by Marc Jacobs showed debutante print dresses mixed with big-buttoned great coats, drummer boy hats and bovver boots. At Burberry Christopher Bailey took the hunting, shooting, fishing feel further with tweed flat caps and herringbone jackets lined in shearling. Hair is classic with a twist. Long and luxe, it mixes rich autumnal tones of caramel, gold and chocolate with concise cuts and truly intense shine.

60’S TWIST

From Carnaby Street to Camden Town via the left bank and Warhol’s NYC Factory, this season’s nod to the iconic 60’s was multifaceted, but always with a young, cool edge. Strong, streamlined runway looks referenced the silhouettes of Courrèges, Paco Rabanne and Cardin, with slim cigarette pants cropped above the ankle, sleek A-line shifts and structured Quant-esque tunics. Hair embraces the revolutionary spirit of the 60’s, going shorter, brighter and blonder. Styles run from precision cut blunt bobs and elfin crops to softer, face framing fringes and mussed up beehives.


ORIENTAL EXPRESS

Proenza Schouler kick-started the trend with inspiration running from Karate and Kimonos to Yoko Ono circa 1970. Zac Posen’s take was more glamorous, whilst intellectual Dries Van Noten plundered London’s Victoria & Albert museum for Japanese, Chinese and Korean iconography, seducing stylists with the resulting digital prints. Hair pays homage to the Orient with sleek, sharp, cheekbone grazing cuts juxtaposed with high shine. Colour only intensifies the fervor with intense reds creating a hypnotic mix of sophistication and simmering sensuality.

NEO COUTURE

This season fashion writers from across the globe were furiously scribing ‘androgynous, futuristic, powerful, strong.’ Black, black, black and with a hint of black was the colour palette for this trend, with strict, sharp lines echoing the edgy vibe. In New York concisely creased trousers, tailored coats and pointy-toed shoes all communicated a strict, noirish feel. Givenchy was the stand out show for this look. The clothes were heavy on leather and fur, with over the knee boots, pleated skirts and jodhpur shaped trousers. Hair is dominated by moody blues, blacks, greys and wild reds, complementing the androgynous close crops and undercuts. Textures are extreme, from ultra slick to super sticky.

We’re shouting it from salon rooftops: The difference between a haircut that’s aging and one that’s age-defying comes down to layers. “Without them, hair doesn’t move–and nothing makes you seem older than stiff hair,” says hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon in New York City, who works with Jennifer Lopez. “No matter what your length, you want delicate layers throughout and face-framing pieces. This creates lush, healthy-looking hair, which softens your entire appearance.” (Blunt cuts, on the other hand, can catapult you a decade, à la Callista Gingrich.) And we’re setting the record straight on length: You don’t have to abandon long hair for a short, so-called sensible ‘do when you hit 40. “Just get regular trims so your hair maintains that healthy look,” Maciques says.

EMBRACE YOUR TEXTURE

If you have kinky or African-American hair and wear it natural, “a cut that’s shoulder-length or shorter is the most youthful–any longer, and your hair starts to balloon around your head, which piles on the years,” says hairstylist Tippi Shorter, whose clients include Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige. This hair type also needs a serious wallop of moisture to prevent it from getting dry and brittle (an instant ager). For this, use a curl-enhancing product, says Shorter, whose fave brand is Kinky-Curly. “It’s an ethnic hair-care line with different curl enhancers, from a lightweight serum to a rich cream, so there’s something for every type of curl.”

Slicked-back styles put every pore and fine line on full display. Instead, use your fingers to rake your hair back into a ponytail or bun, which creates soft ripples and a slightly fuzzy finish that’s relaxed and sexy. “It’s okay if it’s a little messy–that’s what makes it young,” Pipino says.

GET YOUR SHINE ON
