L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Oil, Shampoo and Conditioner Review

L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil, Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Hey everyone,

With tons and tons of new shampoos coming up (pun intended), its difficult to catch up with all and review all. I tried the Sunsilk Natural Recharge at first..and then this L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish which I was using from quiet some time..and now shifting to the TRESemme Split Remedy.

For now, I have been using the combination of these three..so lets review them today.

L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil: The Extraordinary Oil has been scientifically created to give your hair the nourishment it truly deserves with three traditional oils and three exotic oils providing 6 specific benefits. It has no heavy feel or greasy look. Starting with the Extraordinary Oil, it has a strong artificial smell..comes in a glass bottle..you need to be careful with this one..and the dispensor takes its own time for the oil to come out :/

Its quiet light in texture and never gave that chipku look..gets absorbed well..hair does not feel greasy or heavy..and it was easy to wash off too..did not require multiple washes..

I am not a fan of using it post washing as a serum..its slightly heavy to be used as a serum and may weigh down the hair.

Except for the fact that it has mineral oil and that too 68% :/ Mineral oil is not entirely bad for the hair..if you have curly hair, then it works for you all the more..what is does is, it forms a film on the hair..means it prevents moisture from going in..but its two way..so in a way it helps in controlling frizz but also prevents other useful products to reach the hair..but actually it also has some benefits and I would not discard a product if it has mineral oil..the question remains..how much qty of mineral oil is used in the product ! I also read that mineral oil should not be used on dry hair as it locks the dryness and dries them over..but it has worked for some and not for some..there are mixed opinions. I did not face much of an issue with this one.

Overall I would say I would have preferred lesser mineral oil..I mean 68% is quiet a lot !

Coming to the L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner. I have tried these oils in hair range before..with the Dove Nourishing Oil Range and Sunsilk Radiant Shine Range..both of which I loved ! So, the hair range with oils have always worked for me..

Does this one too ? Lets find out.

These have a yellow colored packaging and both are golden yellow in color..the shampoo has tiny shimmer which reflects. I love the amazing smell.

Shampoo is the perfect texture..not too watery..lathers amazingly well, washes off easily..and leaves hair smooth and detangled..

Conditioner is rich and creamy and coats hair well and leaves hair hydrated and moisturised.

I only felt that conditioner if used slightly more, can weigh down normal to oily hair since its a little rich.

Also, they claim that this conditioner can be used directly on the scalp..I did not try it and would not recommend it too..after all its a conditioner !

Though the shampoo does have SLS and conditioner, the silicones.

The range gave me shiny, smooth, detangled hair but weighed hair down sometimes..especially when all three used together since I have normal hair..It would work amazingly well for dry hair.

Overall, I would say this range is amazing for dry hair..and normal hair can work it too but carefully..but I would not recommend it for oily hair.

Rating:

Quality: 3.75/5
Value for money: 3.75/5
Availability: 4/5

Overall Rating: 3.75/5

Would I buy it again: May be in winters or when my hair is drier..I am liking newer ones for now :p

Have you tried the L’oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Extraordinary Oil, Shampoo and Conditioner ?

Haircut and Nail Art at the Juice Salon

Haircut and Nail Art at the Juice Salon

Hey everyone,

If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen my pic getting a haircut at Juice :p (shamelessly promoting my Insta..please follow :D)

So, I went to the Juice Salon in my area (Juice has 8 salons in Mumbai)..for getting a haircut..and then got the nail art done too..

Its a nice spacious salon..has two three rooms and one with a shower for the spas.

I was assisted by Rohit for my haircut..and since my hair was already pampered at Jean Claude Biguine (read HERE), it was super smooth and looking great..I did not wish to get a cut :p But a cut was long due..as the ends had grown out..

I wanted layers as they always have been that way and wanted to maintain my length..so he kept my length and gave me short layers at the crown so that I can get that volume and bounce..and side swept bangs..which I can partition either ways..

I loved the cut..he used TIGI Epic Volume Shampoo (which is SLS free and was quite nice..recommend this) to wash hair first..and he told me a good volumising shampoo is enough for my hair coz they are good texture wise 😀

And also a heat protectant serum was used at the start itself..and after the cut, he showed me the hair with cold blast blow drying before styling too..and it looked great without the styling maintenance too.

They use all TIGI products mostly at Juice..

Here is my before and after haircut..

And then there is this nail bar..does’nt it look amazing..with so many colors around..

I had to select a design from these options for the nail art..

And I chose this glitter one…I wanted something simple and quick..she used three nail paints for this..2 Jordana Glitters and one Love..First silver glitter was applied all over..then the love one with very find golden shimmer on the front half and then the Jordana orange gold glitter again on the front half layered, followed with a top coat.

I loved the final effect..and its been 6 days and its still almost intact..and she said if maintained it can stay 10-12 days..they also had gel nail option..

So, did you like the hair cut and nail art ? Have you been to Juice Salon ?

P.S: Services were offered by the brand but it has not affected my opinion.

Post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at JCB

Post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon
So I did play Holi and my hair was definitely affected even though I had oiled it..and even though I had played only with colors..those colors are pretty drying dude..

And I had to wash my hair thrice to remove the color..that made the hair all the more drying..as the essential oils on the scalp which moisturise the scalp are also lost with frequent washing..

I definitely needed some hair pampering..and got to try this hair ritual at the perfect time..

Jean-Claude Biguine had post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Rituals..its like a detox for the hair..here is the official press release:

Indulge in the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa

There’s no better day than Holi to let your hair down and indulge in some colourful revelry. So, don’t let it end on a sour note with hair woes. Post the chemicals and colours, indulge in the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa for healthier and beautiful hair.

Hair can turn brittle and extremely dry if color remains in it for a long time. The Kérastase hair treatments provide shine; they moisturize and condition the hair, and help in repairing all types of hair damages. The Kérastase Chronologiste Caviar Ritual uses mimetic caviar pearls and special creams to nourish hair and make it feel softer, stronger and more lustrous. It is an excellent choice for deep conditioning of hair and scalp. Kérastase Ultime Liquide-Gold Oil Ritual provides instant radiance and deep nourishment to all types of hair – making it intensely shiny with a weightless touch. The Monodose Ritual is an express treatment that is offered primarily with a hair-wash. A Monodose Ritual for dry hair nourishes hair and makes it soft to touch.

The Kerastase hair rituals begin at INR 1500++ up to INR 2500++. The services are available across all Jean-Claude Biguine Salons & Spas, in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

To avail of the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual, book an appointment at your nearest salon.

Our present locations: Mumbai Bandra: 022- 65222211 | Colaba: 022-22153311 | Juhu: 022-66995555 | Kemps Corner: 022-66501111 | Khar(W), Linking Road: 022 26462626 | Lower Parel: 022- 65113311 | Lokhandwala: 022 – 65653300/22| Ghatkopar : 022- 25171700  Bangalore | Phoenix Market City, Whitefield: 080-67266666 | Lavelle Road: 080 – 41514000

So I went for this hair ritual..you must have seen my pic on Instagram, if you follow me. I was assisted by Zara.

And after checking my hair, she suggested the Kérastase Chronologiste Caviar Ritual for me..as my hair was slightly dry. I also asked her the difference in three and which is meant for which type of hair, and she explained well.

Chronologiste Caviar Ritual is meant for normal to dry hair
Ultime Liquide-Gold Hair Ritual is meant for all types of hair
And there is one more..Signature Kerathermine which is meant for extremely dry hair

She explained the whole process in Chronologiste Caviar Ritual and how its not real caviar..since real caviar is super expensive and they cannot use it world wide as vegetarians and vegans would have an issue with it..so its basically artificial caviar..made up with vitamins, etc that are beneficial and hydrating for the hair..

Durations: 1.5 hrs

Price: Rs. 1500/- for Ultime Liquide-Gold Oil and Rs.2500/- for Chronologiste Caviar and Signature Kerathermine

Procedure followed:

1. My hair was checked first and after suggesting the Chronologiste Caviar Ritual, we started off with it..

2. Hair was shampooed twice with Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Shampoo..and towel dried.

3. The caviar was crushed and mixed well with the creme and applied all over the hair in sections..each strand at a time.
Artificial Caviar
Caviar and Creme
Mixed together
4. Then head and neck was massaged..and I was like sleeping on the chair..it was so super relaxing…Zara has magic in her hands !

5. Hair was given a mist (indirect steam) for 10 mins.

6. Washed hair again with plain water.

7. Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum was used generously and hair was dried giving a cold blast and once normal blow dry. (no styling)

And this is the before and after..

I am telling you this pic does not do any justice to how my hair felt..they were so super soft and smooth..I just could not stop touching my hair !

I had to go for a hair cut the next day..and since it was blow dried and styled I could not wash and judge the difference later on..I will update this post as to how long the effect lasts and till when the hair feels and looks the same :p

But from what Zara told me, if hair is taken care of with proper serums and conditioning, the effect lasts a month..and this can be done monthly..or else if very dry hair, twice a month.

At JCB, they use mostly Kérastase and L’oreal Professional..and a few Moroccanoil products..

I highly recommend trying out the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon..if your hair is normal kinds, the Ultime Liquide-Gold one would do..but its definitely to be experienced..you will love your hair !

I think its a perfect addition to must-do’s before the wedding for the brides !

Have you tried the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon ??

P.S: Services were offered by the brand but that has not affected my opinion.

With Schwarzkopf, he was responsible to strengthen the Schwarzkopf educational initiatives for the hairdressers’ community in India. To take this initiative to the next level he designed various training programs from Beginner level to advanced Level and conducted educational training through seminars and workshops in salons for hairdressers across the country. In 2011, Nitin took charge of INDOLA as the technical head, and has played a key role in increasing the footprint of the brand across the country.

I interviewed Nitin..and asked him some major concerns Indian women face, how to tackle them and some easy DIY hairstyles and how to do them..

1) Major issue of women in India is hair fall…how do you suggest tackling that?

There are lots of reasons for hairfall, and one of them is stressful lifestyle.Other reasons to it would be nutritional deficiency, dandruff, excessive oiliness of the scalp, illness, thyroid imbalance, etc

Take proper care for your hair, use appropriate shampoo and conditioner. Once in a month go for Hair spa treatment. Make sure you get adequate sleep.Consult a hairdresser or doctor if your hair loss is increasing even after you take proper care of your hair.

2) Dandruff is a bane in winters..How to fight against it?

With winter setting in, the skin tends to dry out and dandruff is aggravated. Simple dandruff is harmless and disappears on its own within 15-20 days. However, if you have persistent dandruff and experience an increase in hair fall for a period of two to three months, then the problem is a little more serious.

It seems to thrive in oily hair, so regular shampooing can help you fight it off.  Massage your hair so that you can clean your skin as well as your hair. Again for the second time you can wash, rinse and repeat because first wash removes the oil layer and second wash helps removing the dandruff.

Maintain a healthy and a balanced diet.

3) Some quick easy DIY hairstyles..

Braids: it has become a huge trend of modern times. Youngsters and woman are sporting this look for parties, weddings, etc. Well, it can be counted as a simple hairstyle that works for all occasions. But when a braid is worn in a variation looks amazing. Different kinds of plaits ( like Fish tail plait, Rope Plait etc.) can be worn. These plaits can also be used to create and enhance updos.

Curly Hair: Curl your hair using a diffuser and then it can be left loose or pinned to create a sexy look. A gorgeous look for a romantic weekend getaway or an evening out with that special someone.  These curls are very soft.

Steps for romantic curls:

• Dry hair using the Diffuser attachment on your blow dryer.
• Take a small barrel curling iron and wind horizontal sections of hair.
• Spray hair all over with a flexible styling spray.

Ruffled  messy buns: they can be easily done at home. Following are the steps for the same.
Snip the toe tip of your tube sock and roll it up until it forms a mini donut.
Using your fingers, comb your hair up into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie. You decide how high you want it, but I would not suggest a sky-high one if you are going for a more casual look. (For a sleeker ponytail, feel free to use a brush.)
Take the ends of your ponytail and pull it through the donut. Spread out the very ends of your hair around the donut so that it is slightly covered. Tuck those ends under the donut.
Roll donut with the tucked ends down the rest of your ponytail until you reach your head. There will be some fly-away pieces and some that fell out of the donut while rolling. Leave those alone. They add to the tousled, messy look.
Ruffle the bun with your fingers to loosen it and pull a few random strands out to make it even more tousled. Now, you’re done!

French knot: If you want a clean hairstyle, then you should always go for French knot.
Comb your hair thoroughly so that they become smoother and easier to manage. Neatly separate a section of hair from the central region of the top of your head.
Again, comb your hair entirely, including the separately held section and hold them together as you do while making a pony.
Hold the base of the pony and twist the pony so that it covers your left hand fingers.
Now remove your left hand from the center of the twisted pony keeping it tight and fix it at the top using bobby pins on all its sides so that it forms a bun. Similarly fix the tail. Settle the extra hair which may come out of the bun.
Tighten the bun as much as possible. Use a hair spray for a shiny look.

4) Which hairstyles look good on Indian face structures? For medium long hair..For curly and straight hair each…

1. Curly Hair- As most indian women have wavy to curly long hair, so to enhance the natural texture of the hair, an appropriate layering or graduation technique can be used depending on the face shapes (e.g  forward graduation, pie layering, square layer etc). a side fringe can be crafted to highlight the whole look. )

2. Straight Hair – If you have straight long hair, keep it smooth, shiny, one length and have a straight solid fringe as such fringes a very much in Vogue.

Thanks for the answers Nitin..quite a help..

I hope you all found it helpful too..

Haircut at Lakme Absolute Salon Mumbai

Haircut at Lakme Absolute Salon Mumbai

By now you must be knowing about the new Lakme Absolute Salon that first launched in Delhi and now recently in Mumbai..

How Lakme Absolute Salon is different from other Lakme Salons was my first question..

I am told the services are not the normal kinds..all latest trends from all over the world are adopted and even straight from the runway..Lakme Absolute Salon are at a much advanced level in terms of styling..

They have services for skin, hair, nails, etc..I met Ron who is in charge of the Lakme Absolute Salon in Bandra, Mumbai..its inside in the opposite lane of Shoppers Stop..

I loved the setup..its 2000 sq.feet huge..and looked amazing inside out..quite spacious..and has different sections for each service..

I was invited for the haircut and styling..which was done by Meena..she washed my hair first and went ahead with the cut..I told her I wanted the length..and she suggested a nice cut..and kept the crown area hair a little shorter for the bounce..since the hair get flat otherwise..and added side bangs but not too short..something I can wear everyday to work too and does not require too much styling and maintenance..

Hair was blow dried and styled at the end..she scrunched the ends for a softer messier natural look..

They use Thalgo skin care and TIGI Bed Head for hair and a few other renowned brands too..and they also stock the entire Lakme Absolute range..and Ron told me they are also going to have a retail counter for sale..

And finally my haircut..

I hope you like it..and share your experience if you have visited the Lakme Absolute Salon before..

Interview with Marcus Francis – Global TRESemmé Stylist

Interview with Marcus Francis – Global TRESemmé Stylist

TRESemmé’s Global Stylist, Marcus Francis was in India recently and was available for email interviews.

Marcus decoded a few hairstyles from Mercedes Benz Fashion week and elaborated on trends this season, his association with TRESemmé and much more. See the hairstyles HERE.

About Marcus Francis :

From the shows at Paris Fashion Week to a celebrity photo shoot in Los Angeles, Marcus Francis is showing his wide range of creating beautiful hair across the world.

Moving to Los Angeles in 1999 from Seattle, Washington, Marcus soon discovered that his innate talent for hair styling was more than just a hobby; it was his passion that would allow him to combine his love for Hollywood, fashion, and travel. When he finished his education in cosmetology, Marcus pursued both cut and color at various salons, the last five years at Jonathan Salon in West Hollywood. His appeal and talent crossed over to the fashionistas in New York City where Marcus worked at Robert Kree Salon. He soon joined forces with Vogue and W to style for events with designers such as Versace, Bally, and Ports 1961.  While juggling a career in Los Angeles and New York, Marcus expanded into television. He was cast as a style expert on the television show “Style Her Famous” on the Style Network. Marcus also started the AOL makeover show “Hairapy”, which lead him to commercial work for TRESemmé India and style Diana Penty.

After 2 years of being bicoastal, freelance hair styling became a part of the next phase in Marcus’ career by assisting on photo shoots and fashion shows for legends Guido, Danilo, Sam McKnight, and Orlando Pita. Marcus became a part of the shows at Fashion Week in New York, Milan, and Paris for designers Prada, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Balenciaga, and many more. Marcus’ work also captured the cover of fashion’s WWD magazine in February ’09 during NY Fashion Week. Marcus has styled the tresses of such celebrities as Salma Hayek, Natalie Portman, Kirsten Dunst, Kerry Washington, and Marisa Tomei to name a few for events like the Cannes Film Festival and Academy Awards. He has also worked in film doing hair for screen legend Lauren Bacall, shot with famed photographers such as Mark Seliger and Norman Jean Roy, and his work was featured for magazines such as Vogue, Interview etc.

So I asked him these basic questions..

1.Hairstyles that are ‘IN’ globally?
Ans: Braids and buns are the two hairstyles that are in today. You can wear them in different styles, accessorize them and style them as per your requirement. A bohemian braid can do wonders and looks chic and feminine or a side swept bun also adds glamour.

2.What hairstyles would you recommend off the ramp for daily wear? And how to do them?
Ans: A chic side bun incorporated in your daily style looks great. You can wear it at work or accessorize them with embellished bobby pins for a party, this braid will work wonders. Steps to achieve a chic bun:

1)Part your hair to one side – your part should start directly above the middle of the eyebrow on whichever side you choose to part it.

2)Pull all your hair around behind your head over to the same side that you parted it on – pin it in place at the back of the head to keep it to that side.

3)Using a fine-tooth comb, back comb the hair to give it body – you can go a bit nuts here and don’t worry about how messy it gets.

4)Using a brush, brush the surface of the hair lightly to smooth it down – don’t brush to hard and remove all the teasing you have just done. Re-pin the hair to the side.

3.Which TRESemme products are your favorites and Why ?
Ans: My favorite TRESemmé product is the Climate control shampoo and conditioner as it leaves your hair moisturized and nourished.

4.Some easy DIY 2 minute hairstyles explained.

Summer side swept pony

1)Part your hair to one side – your part should start directly above the middle of the eyebrow on whichever side you choose to part it.
2)Pull all your hair around behind your head over to the same side that you parted it on and tie it around with an elastic
3)Tie part of your pony with bobby pins inside and let loose the remaining part of the pony.
4)You can embellish the pony with flowers to make it look chic.

Natural Waves

1)Wash and condition your hair well with TRESemmé Smooth and Shine shampoo and conditioner.
2)Blow dry your hair to form natural waves.
3)Let them loose by applying little serum to give the shine.

So were the questions helpful ? Are you going to try these hairstyles ?

P.S: I know he is hot, if you are thinking the same 😀

Hairstyles for the Festive Season

HAIRSTYLE GUIDE FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON

So the much-awaited festivities have begun! This season, instead of wearing your hair the usual boring way try these easy-to-do, yet ultra chic hair-do’s picked by Najeeb Ur Rehman, (PPS Manager, Schwarzkopf Professional India) that will help channel the inner diva in you!

Mr. Najeeb Ur Rehman says “These looks are very stylish as well as easy to do. Big hair is sure to grab the attention at evening parties. Chignons, quiffs, plaits, ponytails, glamour curls or teased back hair work especially well as high-volume styles with or without hair jewellery are trending.”

1.Pretty plaits

Plaits are always a winner at festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali etc as they are easy to do, go well with any outfit and can easily be kept and taken out to reveal wavy locks for day two!

Get the look
Ø  Start by using a smoothening shampoo like BC Bonacure smooth and shine range then prep the hair with a flattening spray like OSiS Flatliner and blow dry smooth to ensure hair is tangle free.
Ø  Leaving a few strands at the front, part the hair deep on one side and begin two plaits from either side of the parting. Try the French plait technique to add texture and secure on the head to survive all degrees of head bopping!
Ø  Work each plait towards the back of the head until they meet near the nape and tie the ends into a messy bun. Finish with some Firm Hold Hairspray like OSiS  Freeze or Session Spray for ultra strong styling.

2.Messy chignon

Try the very fashionable messy chignon for an easy-to-do yet elegant up-do.

Get the look
