MUA (Makeup Academy) Haul

MUA (Makeup Academy) Haul

I recently hauled some MUA stuff..see at your own risk :p
Few of these are their latest launches..which they came up with last month..

Love the Artiste Collection Palette..it has 6 brand new merged eye shadows, two powder blushers and a contour shade and highlighter, Brow Kit, Shimmer Kisses Bronzer, 2 Nail Constellations, 2 Cream Blushers, 2 Intense Lip Glosses, 1 Pistachio Pastel Nail Varnish and a BB Cream..they have most of the swatches on their blog HERE which helps deciding on the products..

They keep adding new stuff..they have recently launched lip stains, sheer finish lip glosses and glitter magnetic nail varnishes..

I love the fact that MUA is so economical and at the same time has so many varied products and shades..that one is too confused to choose..

I also wanted the Undressed and Dusk Till Dawn Palettes..but may be next time..

You can buy MUA online from http://www.muastore.co.uk

Mineral Hygienics Starter Kit Review, Swatches

Mineral Hygienics Starter Kit Review, Swatches

Hey, first of all Happy Dussehra !! For those not from India, Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami, Dasara, or Dashain) is a Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. One paper down, three more to go..though I have 1-2 days break in between..

Coming to the review..

What the Company claims: Great Coverage and Longest Lasting.
Only a few natural ingredients.

Your Mineral Hygienics Starter Kit includes:
2 shades of Mineral Hygienics SPF Foundation
-Medium Light Mineral Foundation
-Medium Mineral Foundation

Mineral Hygienics mineral enhancer
– Warm Kiss

Mineral finishing powder
-Sheer Perfection…

The mini starter kit has 2 powder foundations and one kabuki brush..the starter kit includes 2 powder foundations, one kabuki brush, one bronzer, one setting powder, one powder brush and an eye shadow brush.

The price for the mini kit is 29.99$ and the bigger kit is 59.99$

Medium:

This is our most popular shade. When exposed to the sun your skin will tan very easily and in most situations you will not burn. You probably do not have skin sensitivity issues. Your neutral or warm undertones will look beautiful in our minerals!

Medium Light – Cool to Neutral Undertones
Medium – Neutral Undertones

Celebrities that best fit this shade:
Pamela Anderson
Jennifer Aniston

Tan:

Our Tan shade is for you if you have Medium/Dark, Tan, or Olive skin tones. All season long your skin will maintain at least a medium tone, but most likely will stay tan. In the summer months your skin will darken up very quickly and very easily. Most likely you will have dark brown or black hair.

Light Tan – Medium Dark Neutral Undertones
Medium Tan – Warm Golden Undertones

Celebrities that best fit this shade:
Jessica Alba
Eva Longoria
Jennifer Lopez

I have Light Tan, Fairly Tan, Medium and Medium Light in mineral powder foundations.

Though all blend with the skin and give a good match..Fairly Tan and Medium are a perfect match..Light Tan also works for contouring..

These take a few minutes to blend in with the skin..and then once set..they look super natural and stay for a good 5-6 hours even with humidity..the coverage is medium though..you can layer up for more coverage..a touch of concealer and mineral foundation on top and you would set for everyday I suppose..

These come in sifter jars and have quite a lot of product ! A little goes a long way with mineral foundations..

Here are the swatches..

From top-bottom :  Light Tan, Fairly Tan, Medium and Medium Light

Sheer Perfection Mineral Finish – Translucent: A super luxurious powder that will perfect your look. It is the final touch that will make your skin exceptional. Your face will feel as soft as silk, and look even better. Go crazy with this finishing powder! You’ll love it!

This is the setting cum finishing powder..its super soft..and actually feels smooth as silk..though this is white..so one needs to be careful with the quantity..so that you don’t get a whitish cast..but it sure does keep oil and shine at bay..one of the ingredients being rice powder !

Warm Kiss Mineral Bronzer: Everyone’s favorite! Soft, sheer, subtle sunkissed glow. Create the illusion of radiant, sun-kissed skin! Use as a healthy looking complexion booster, blush, cheek contour, eye shadow or lip color. Our Sheer Mineral Enhancers are light, natural and are perfect for color adjustments to your foundation.

This is the best bronzer I have come across ! A very natural looking terracotta rosy brown with some pearlescent shimmer..which is hardly visible..this would look gorgeous both as a blush and bronzer..and would give that softest sun kissed look possible !

This is a lot of quantity and would last super long..its quite pigmented..and like all mineral powders, the staying power is awesome too..

Here are the swatches..

These mineral foundations come with a slender kabuki brush..it is so super soft and dense..perfect to carry along..I have washed it 1-2 times and it did not shed much hair except 1-2..I love how soft it is..and picks up the perfect amount..

Colorbar Eyeshadow Swatches

My Favorite Colorbar Eyeshadows and Swatches
What the Company claims: The Eye Shadow is a pigmented powder that gives the eyes a shine and pearl-like effect. Ultra fine in texture, it is easy to blend while its moisturising agent keeps your eyelids soft and smooth. This product is long lasting and fade resistant.MRP: INR 300.00 for 3g (They were priced at Rs.250/- before)
Colorbar eyeshadows are very good in pigmentation..and staying power is good too..more so with a primer..at Rs.300/- these are surely worth for..I have swatched some of my favorites here..

1- Expensive Pink
2- Potters Clay
3- Brownie
4- Purple Passion
5- Spicy Brown
6- Heatwave
7- Proudly Purple

Ya you guessed it right..I love browns..all browns followed by purples..I am a big fan of browns ! You can buy them online HERE, HERE or HERE

I love Spicy Brown and Heatwave..

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder Review, Swatches

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder Review, Swatches
What the Company claims:
BEAUTIFUL MATTE PERFECTION
AIR-SOFT FEEL
MATTE FINISH

Why You’ll Love It

• Formula is jet-milled into ultra-fine particles for an air-soft, ultra-silky texture
• The suede-touch puff smoothes onto skin evenly, effortlessly, for the most beautiful matte perfection

For Best Results
Apply Dream Matte® Powder to your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin with the provided puff using gentle downward strokes. Build coverage gradually.

MRP: Rs. 475/- for 9g

Shades Available:

  • Cream Light
  • Sand Medium
  • Beige Medium
  • Honey Medium
It comes in a light brown see through packaging with a slide across lower compartment which has a mirror and stores a puff..amazingly designed..it sure deserves the most well thought of compact powder title..
The powder is very finely milled and super soft..it blends into the skin easily..and does not look cakey or any obvious effect..the puff is different..made of sponge..and picks up the right qty and goes over well on the face..but it gives light coverage.
As claimed, it actually is mattifying..it gives a completely matte look..and is a boon for oily skinned girls..I generally use it on my T zone..
The shade Sand Medium is a perfect match for me..
Pros:
1. Amazingly designed..this is perfect to carry along anywhere.
2. Super finely milled powder..blends well
3. Gives a completely matte finish.
4. Four shades to choose from.
5. 9g is a lot of quantity.
Cons:
1. Dry skin may find it too matte.
Overall I would highly recommend this to oily skinned girls..this is the answer to your prayers :p For dry skinned, do check it out at the counters first..I am combination..and I use it mostly on my T zone and for touch ups and love it..

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Airbrush Finish Foundation Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: Why You’ll Love It

Air-whipped liquid provides perfecting coverage for 100% poreless skin
Ideal for normal skin
Oil-free, fragrance-free, Dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic – won’t clog pores, safe for sensitive skin

Ingredients:

Expert Tip : Apply smoothly and evenly to your face and blend with your fingertips.

MRP: Rs. 575/- for 30ml

Shades Available:

  • 01 Porcelain Ivory Light
  • 04 Nude Light
  • 05 Medium Creamy Natural Light
  • 3.5 Nude Beige Light
  • 02 Pure Beige Medium
  • 04 Honey Beige Medium
So these are not 01 to 05 according to shades but the internal numbering amongst shades..so do not get confused with the numbers..Light has 01 to 05 and so does Medium..but these 6 shades are only available in India..
I have 04 Nude Light which is a little light for me..but not something with a stark difference..I guess the 05 Medium Creamy Natural Light would be a better fit..yet to check that out..
If I have to describe it in one word..love

It does everything what it claims..smooth even finish, high coverage, super easy to use. I just use my fingers most of the time..a small pump and I am good to go..more than enough coverage for me on everyday basis..if I have an event to attend, slight more and I get full coverage..it does cover up and minimize appearance of pores too.

It stays for 5-6 hours..but the issue is oily skin might find it a little greasy after some time..since it is rich in texture..

Pros:

1. Smooth even finish.
2. Medium to high coverage.
3. Pump is easy to use.
4. Blends nicely with fingers.
5. Coverage is buildable..so can be used according to your requirement.
6. Economical.
7. Would suit normal to dry skin and combination with some powder.

Cons:

1. Has silicones..so if you are allergic to silicones, try it at the counter first..or get sample if you can.
2. Only 2 shades for darker skin tones.
3. Pump dispensor, so not suitable for travelling.
4. Oily skin might find it a little greasy.

Overall if you are normal to dry skin and not allergic to silicones, you should definitely try this..others do check it out at the counters first..I love it..as much as Deborah Milano 24 Ore Perfect Foundation

Wedges and Heels

Wedges and Heels

Ah…don’t we all have a weakness for shoes and bags..nothing is too much for us when it comes to clothes, shoes and bags 😀
I recently was just surfing and found this super tempting deal on Yebhi.com..they have this last size thing..where everything from clothes to shoes which are the only piece in one size left, they offer at a good discount..And the best part of Yebhi is their Try n Buy where you order stuff and opt for Cash on Delivery and pay only if the thing fits you ! Now, is’nt this something we all would love..no tensions of whether the size is perfect and then have to return and all..no hassles..

I found 3 pairs of shoes..two from Aiva and one Globalite and ordered those..and they came in within 2 days..

Tried them..found the Aiva ones to be fitting well..though both are of different size..and one thing I have noticed off late in the last one year, that my right foot is a little smaller than the left..and the same size shoe is a little loose on the right..have anyone of you ever experienced that ?

So the Globalite one was a pretty turquoise blue and rubber ballets kind..casual ones which would be perfect for the rains..but those were a little tight..and mom said rubber does not expand..so I skipped those..

Got these purple wedges with red satin curls and tan peep toes..I had selected the royal blue wedges but they were picked off super quickly..

You like ? Can you guess the price ?

Sleek MakeUp Be Beautiful Blemish Balm Review, Swatches

Sleek MakeUp Be Beautiful Blemish Balm Review, Swatches

Full Coverage Blemish Balm Cream with SPF 15
“be beautiful Blemish Balm”

Proving that it’s not just us girls who can multi-task!

Skincare meets make-up: What product can be used as a primer, tinted moisturiser, contains spf15, is highly moisturising, conceals blemishes, has anti-aging properties and provides full coverage? …

Sleek MakeUP’s Be Beautiful Blemish Balm.

Created to protect, moisturise, conceal and prime the skin the Sleek MakeUP Be Beautiful Blemish Balm is undoubteldy the multi-tasking goddess of the product range that aims to brighten your complexion and leave your skin looking, smooth and radiant.
Unlike it’s predecessors on the UK High Street Sleek MakeUP’s high coverage, Be Beautiful Blemish Balm range includes shades specifically for fair and darker skin tones.

What’s inside the BB Cream: Enriched with red algae extract which provides anti ageing properties and protein peptides that work to repair the skin, this tube of wonder contains Vitamin C that
brightens the complexion leaving your skin with a youthful and luminous finish whilst the Vitamin E protects the skin from early stages of UV light damage and reduces the the formation of free radicals that could lead to premature ageing. The jojoba oil provides a moisturising formula that creates a smooth and flawless base, concealing imperfections whilst preventing discolouration and dehydration lines.

Containing SPF15, this multi-functional BB cream not only works hard to nourish and conceal imperfections it also protects the skin from harmful rays.

How to use: Use as a primer or tinted moisturiser to provide an even skin tone and dewy base or build the Be Beautiful Blemish Balm to use as a high coverage foundation.

Tips and tricks: Apply the BB cream and wait for cream to settle before applying a second layer: Apply one layer of BB cream for medium coverage and two layers for high coverage.
The BB Cream can be used as a concealer. After applying the BB cream, spot apply to areas that require more coverage (redness, dark spots, acne marks etc) and lightly pat into your skin to blend.

Available in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Dark.

Be Beautiful Blemish Balm RRP: £8.99, 50ml

Available from 29th August on sleekmakeup.com

Ingredients:

It comes in a sleek black broad tube packaging with a flip cap..I have the shade Medium which is unfortunately too dark for me..I look toasted in the sun with this shade 😀

But I am amazed with the coverage..it is indeed a high coverage product..and as mentioned can be doubled up as a concealer too using second layer..it stays on for a good 6-7 hours and skin does not feel oily or shiny..you just need to touch up the T zone with powder if you have oily skin..

Here is it..as you can notice the color difference..

Unblended, Blended

The difference may not be much visible..but it looks too orangey in person..

Pros:

1. Provides medium to high coverage..you can skip your concealer and foundation.
2. Stays for a good 6-7 hours..and gives a dewy finish..only the T zone is required to be touched up for oily/combination skin.
3. Has SPF 15.
4. Has red algae, jojoba oil and a few other good ingredients.
5. Does not have a pink or grey tint like the true BB creams and no whitish cast too.
6. 50 ml would last long.
7. Works as a primer too as claimed..it does give a smooth finish and lets the foundation stay a little longer.

Cons:

1. The product gets collected at the opening.
2. Only 4 shades available..and Medium is too dark whereas Light may be a tad lighter..there are 2 more shades required between Medium and Light.
3. Available online.
4. Has parabens.

Overall I do like the texture, smoothness and coverage of the product..one of those high coverage products that give a smooth finish…and can be used as a primer, concealer, tinted moisturiser, foundation..as you like it..I would surely love to try the Light shade, if its not too light for me, that is. I wish SleekMakeUp came with more shades in this..

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow All Night Blue Review, Swatches

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mono Eyeshadow 06 All Night Blue Review, Swatches
What the Company claims: Make a long lasting impression without batting an eye. Infallible eye shadows contain ultra concentrated color pigments, for an intense color finish and upto 24 hour long-lasting hold.

Shades Available:

  • 04 Forever Pink
  • 12 Endless Chocolate
  • 05 Purple Obsession
  • 09 Permanent Khaki
  • 02 Hourglass Beige
  • 06 All Night Blue
  • 13 Burning Black
  • 15 Flashback Silver
  • 14 Eternal Black
  • 20 Pebble Grey
MRP: Rs. 450/- for 3.5 g

This was a part of the Cannes 2012 L’Or Electric Collection..

They all have different names in the US like this All Night Blue is called Midnight Blue, Endless Chocolate is called Continuous Cocoa, Purple Obsession is called Perpetual Purple, Permanent Khaki called Golden Sage and so on..

Some gorgeous shades like Smoldering Plum and Golden Emerald have not been introduced in India 🙁 I dunno why always the step motherly treatment..we also deserve all those pretty colors no..

This has a silver packaging..with a see through at at the bottom..and a lid on top..and a black inner lid for the hold..

The texture is quite different than normal eye shadows..its not powdery..but a little creamy sorts..and kinda crumbly..if you get it..its super pigmented..one swipe would give you the desired pigmentation and color..

All Night Blue is a deep midnight ink blue..a gorgeous shade..you can use it alone for midnight blue smokey eyes without the black..such deep shades do not even require black for the smokey effect..If you had seen and remember the IIFA awards recently, Parineeti Chopra had a similar blue dress and eye shadow..

In Sunlight

The color is bold for sure..and not something you can wear everyday..but the tip to use it in a wearable way is to use it as a liner..you can try and use Inglot Duraline too..or just normal water..coz these are made to be used both wet and dry..and stay on amazingly well both ways..

Pros:

1. Super pigmented..you get the desired pigmentation in a single swipe.
2. Stay on for a good 7-8 hours without primer too before they start to fade a little.
3. Works both wet and dry.
4. All Night Blue is a gorgeous midnight blue shade..which looks good as a liner too.
5. These are quite economical for the quality and 3.5 g would last quite long too !
6. Available in 10 shades

Cons:

1. Packaging is not so good..if the shadow falls even once..it would crumble up.
2. There is some fall out since these are not densely packed or satiny in texture..
3. Some amazing shades are not introduced in India..

Overall I do love this..All Night Blue is a gorgeous shade..and a perfect blue to have in stash if you do not have one..

Diana Penty in Cocktail

Diana Penty in Cocktail

I was quite excited to watch Cocktail and saw it on the first day..though the movie is quite ok..you can watch it once just for the styling..amazing work by Anaita Shroff Adajania…hats off

I loved Diana’s styling the most..though Deepika was hot..Diana’s style was more wearable and relatable..she wore cardigans, jackets, polka dots, stripes, checks..from the punjabi Delhi girl entering in salwar kameez, her style evolves better and better throughout the movie..

She had her hair open throughout in almost all the scenes..with the front bangs pinned in some and a side braid in some..

As far as her makeup is concerned, she had an au naturel look..her base was very light and minimal..she does have a good skin..

She has thick kohl on her upper and lower lashline throughout..the kohl is smudged on the upper lashline with some soft brown eye shadow blended in..muted gold in some scenes..and lots of mascara especially on the upper lashes..

And a peachy pink lipstick with a matching blush..and a MLBB shade in few scenes..

P.S: She being a Maybelline Brand Ambassador..says she loves and uses the Maybelline Colossal Kajal and BB Cream..and also likes the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation.

I love her minimal, effortless, natural look..Do you ?
