Bio Oil #YummyMummy Yummilicious Fashion Walk

Bio Oil #YummyMummy Yummilicious Fashion Walk

Hey guys,

Bio Oil had this fun event on Saturday called the Yummilicious Fashion Walk where pregnant mothers were going to ramp walk. They had a contest where they chose 12 pregnant women to walk the show. Carol Gracias and Shveta Salve, both being pregnant too currently, walked along with them.

Carol had choreographed the show and all the ladies wore beautiful outfits by Inaaya By Shivangi Lahoty. They also had floral jewellery, hand harness, armlets, etc. made by Shivangi. From the hair and makeup to the outfit, entire appearance of the mommies-to-be was taken care of, and they all looked beautiful and glowing!

Pregnancy is the most beautiful phase in a woman’s life, but a lot of mothers-to-be usually shy away from social events during this phase, as they are mindful of the way their body looks. This initiative of Bio-Oil on the occasion of Mother’s Day was a welcome change.

Bio-Oil aims to be a facilitator for expecting mothers to shed their inhibitions and celebrate this beautiful phase of motherhood. What better way than flaunting their flawless baby bump skin.

Both Carol and Shveta talked about how they have been using Bio Oil religiously. While Carol has been using it from her 3-4th month, Shveta has been using it from the time she came to she is pregnant.

Also present at the event were celebrity gynaecologist Dr. Kiran Coelho and dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty. Dr Coelho mentioned how using anti-stretch marks oils such as Bio Oil certainly makes a huge difference and women do not have to worry about the post-pregnancy sagging skin and stretch marks, which makes them feel under confident, and they can enjoy their motherhood bliss.

The specialists highlighted various concerns related to health and skincare during pregnancy. They shed light on the ideal time after which mothers may start exercising in order to shed their pregnancy weight as well as recommended tips for improving the skin post-pregnancy. Dr. Rashmi Shetty mentioned how the major worry that every pregnant woman has is, whether the stretch marks are ever going to go. The answer for which is try to minimize stretch marks during pregnancy by regularly applying moisturizers and oils such as Bio Oil, which contain Vitamin E, Lavender, Calendula and Rosemary. She emphasized on the need for mothers to take as much time as they require, post giving birth, to get back to exercising.

Encouraging women to come out of their shell, boosting their morale and making them feel beautiful was the focus of the event. The brand created a platform for expecting mothers, to help them come out of their cocoon and dazzle the ramp. This Mother’s Day, Bio Oil partnered with Yummy Mummies across the country to encourage them to celebrate and enjoy their pregnancy phase rather than shying away from the world.

There were also three winners i.e. the Cutest Bump, Glowing Skin and Yummy Mummy. The Yummy Mummy title was won by Parul.

I loved seeing the happy moms walk the ramp and it was indeed a super cute initiative by Bio Oil.

Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer Proof Liquid Lipstick 483 Review, Swatches

Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer Proof Liquid Lipstick 483 Review, Swatches

By Devika

Hi lovely divas! Hope you all are doing well!

I am here yet again with most awaited review of the most sought after, New Chambor extreme wear transfer proof liquid lipsticks!!
We all know how bad these new matte-liquid lipsticks formula is being raved about by all the ladies of the town and we are loving it to bits, aren’t we? Every brand is launching their own versions and amidst this when Chambor recently unveiled new wide range of 18 extreme wear liquid lipsticks, I had to get my hands on it.

After SA swatched it for me, I fell head over heels and bought one. I have so much to tell, so let’s jump on reviewing this beauty.

Available at Chambor boutiques, & Lifestyle stores across India. Online at Amazon.in and Habbana.com

PRICED at INR 845/- for 6 ml

Ingredients:

Product Description: A long-lasting, transfer proof liquid lipstick with a smooth sensorial feel and a creamy matte finish. Its extreme coverage provides a deep, intense colour in just one stroke. To remove use ‘Chambor Eye & Lip Make up Remover’

MY EXPERENCE

PACKAGING

The packaging looks simple yet classy and convincing. It comes in a black box packaging with directions and ingredients mentioned therein. The tube is flat and rectangular with silver details embossed. It’s transparent glass body helps locating the shades in case you have many, since they have not been given names, I wonder why ,as we relate better to shade names. It is number coded at bottom of the tube. Cap is glossy black with twist-up wand mechanism. It has a flat foot applicator, perfect for seamless application.

TEXTURE/FORMULA

The texture is quite smooth, saturated and light on the lips. It’s creamy in consistency and feels a lot like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. It does not just sit on the lips like a sticky gloss neither you get that dry feeling on the lips .The lipstick turns matte after around 60 seconds after application so you have plenty of time to work with it. Once it sets, it is matte, smudge proof, transfer proof and long wearing. If you have ultra-dry lips, then please, exfoliate, moisturize, and then apply! It does not emphasize lip lines, doesn’t crack on the lips.

Color payoff is excellent and one swipe gives super opaque, even color coverage to the lips. It is little glossy when applied but settles and dries down to a matte finish. It was only after I had oily food, the center lower lip lost a little shade which I mended with touch ups and it didn’t look cakey or patchy on re-application. After about 5 hours I felt a little dry which is not an issue for me however I would definitely suggest a lip balm underneath to avoid the lips getting dry. Also, it would be nice if you scrub the lips to form an even base for the color. These have a mild delicious scent to them which fades away after application.

PIGMENTATION

The lipstick is extremely pigmented and covers even the pigmented lips well. Makes them look even, that too in one swipe, so no need to put layers.

LASTING POWER

Coming to the staying power, it stayed on my lips for almost the entire day till the time I removed it myself with a makeup remover. Once set, it does not smudge. All you need is an oil-based makeup remover or olive oil to take it off, and it does not leave any stain behind. Post- meals there was slight fading of lip color as I said.

SHADES

The shade range is narrow and I so badly wish if they could include some fresh summer shades. However, this shade 483 is a quite flattering and unique shade. It’s a mauve with rust brown undertones, perfect for those Office days as it looks so muted and formal. I like the brown undertone it carries, Kylie type of a shade. This is my go-to color and I reach out for this shade every now and then. Pair up with a dark kohl and there you are! Each shade has a number instead of name which is bad, thankfully a transparent body comes to rescue.

HOW TO APPLY

Owing to the matte formulation, exfoliating and moisturizing lips with a good balm before applying is important. Apply lip balm few minutes before, but don’t forget to wipe off the excess as it might interfere in smooth application of lipstick. I used a matching lip liner to define my lips and then filled up. Hold the applicator vertical beginning from the Cupid’s bow, follow the lip line towards the corner of the lips. Then fill in the entire lips with the deep intense color for a Smooth Matt finish. It helps your lipstick last longer and also helps in easier application and covers shaky hand movements. A little practice however would fix it.

HOW TO REMOVE

It’s a task to get rid of this, as you can’t just rub off with makeup remover or wipe away with cotton. The trick is to apply Vaseline, coconut or olive all over your lips, massage well and then wipe the leftovers with clean cloth or use an oil based makeup remover. Use balm after removing any matte lipstick for that matter to regain the natural moisturization of lips.

PROS

Sleek elegant transparent packaging.
Opaque and rich pigmentation.
Little goes a long way.
Lightweight
Ultra matte look.
No disturbing smell.
Smudge proof and non-transferrable
Decently priced for quality and quantity it comes in

CONS

Shade range has not much to offer. If you love reds, nudes and rust there are quite a lot of variants for you to try.
Difficult to remove.
Lip Prepping is a must.
Could have designated a name rather than a number

Honestly speaking, there is nothing to complain about these lipsticks except they may settle into fine lines but then these are ultra-matte and one can deal this by prepping up your lips before application.

Overall ,I am glad Chambor came up with these awesomely formulated matte, opaque, highly pigmented, and long-wearing formula that doesn’t feather or bleed, quite comfortable to Carry .Most of the colors are made for Indian skin tones. However the range misses some good summery pepped up colors. Still I am totally obsessed with this lipsticks.

Though the price tag is a bit high, but you get a good amount of the product and a real long wearing formula, so the price is justified. And true to their claim, these are long lasting, liquid matte lipsticks that pack a ton of pigment and wear all day long! They are now available online, you can find them at lifestyle stores all over India as well.

Rating 4.5/5

Will I repurchase? Yes, I would love to pick more shades!

Editor’s Note: I just got the shade 402 Devika and absolutely love it, there are 2-3 shades in this range which are Kylie’s Lip Kit Dupe in India and formula wise, also quite similar. Loved the review!

Have you checked out the Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer Proof Liquid Lipstick? It’s definitely a must have!

Himalaya Herbals Fairness Cream Review

Himalaya Herbals Fairness Cream Review

By Lovleen

Hello everyone,

I’m back with another interesting review from herbal skincare brand Himalaya; let’s see what it has in store for us.
The harsh summer is finally here, and this is the time when I’m all charged up with my skincare routine. Perfect face wash, body wash, body oils and lotions are always on the top of my list. However, there is one thing that tends to give me nightmares and i.e. moisturizing creams. Those with oily feel, heavy texture leave my skin prone to acne and the rest is done by the hot weather.

With those thoughts in mind, few weeks ago when I was shopping at Lifestyle mall , I discovered this product at the Himalaya Counter, the word fairness enlightened my mind at once. The SA told me about its moisturizing properties and I was convinced to make the purchase.

What happened next? Read on to find out.

Product Description: Based on the miraculous properties of herbal ingredients like Aloe Vera, Naranga, Akschota and Satapatrika, Himalaya brings to you its revolutionary fairness cream that guarantees clear, even tone and fairer skin in just 4 weeks.
Direction for use: Dot the cream around your face & neck and gently blend it with the help of your finger tips; use twice a day on cleaned face for optimal results.

Product Quantity and Price: MRP Rs: 65/- for 50g

Shelf Life: 2 years!

Key Ingredients: It is packed with inactive ingredients like Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Bronopol, Aloe Vera 50mg, Akschota (Juglans regia) 20mg, Satapatrika (Rosa centifolia) 20mg and Naranga (Citrus reticulate) 20mg.

Packaging: It comes in a simple tube package which is quite easy to handle and avoids spillage too.

Texture: The texture of the product is a bit on the creamy side that does take time to blend with the skin.

My Thoughts on Himalaya Herbals Fairness Cream

It’s been over two weeks (15 days) that I’m using this cream and till today I haven’t witnessed any dramatic results. It is a decent moisturizing cream that works just like any usual cream would, but fairness- well that hasn’t happened till date. Even though I was happy about having a herbal cream in my summer skincare list, but all my hopes were shattered when I saw Parabens in its list of ingredients. Despite of being a nature based product it contains parabens that can be extremely harmful for those who are allergic towards it.

Therefore, my thoughts on it are pretty clear and loud- “Though it’s a subtle moisturizer but there is nothing unique that will make you fall in love with it”.

Pros:

It is quite affordable
It does not lead to breakouts or any sort of side-effects
Best for moisturizing oily skin beauties during winter, as it does not leave a greasy touch

Cons:

Long list of chemicals that includes, parabens, parabens, & parabens
No SPF (Sun Protection Factor)

Rating: 2/5

Do I recommend Himalaya Herbals Fairness Cream for you? So, parabens and no results have made it a big no for me.

Editor’s Note: Oh God, such a dud! I anyway hate fairness product, Himalaya Herbals is one brand which I really like, so didn’t expect this :/

What do you think about the Himalaya Herbals Fairness Cream or Fairness Creams in General?

How To Get Rid of Acne Naturally

How To Get Rid of Acne Naturally

By Rashmi

Hello girlies,

This is my first article in this space and i do hope that you all llike it . This being my first article I wanted to write about something that has troubled myself for years.Happy reading ☺

The most irritating thing about growing up is probably pimples. This had troubled me for years until i found a natural and permanent solution to cure it. Though natural remedies have a slower effect but they are permanent cures.I have been using these natural remedies for years and have a clear skin since then. So i thought of sharing these remedies with you all.

All you need to have is a bit of patience. I hope all these remedies works for you all as well. ☺

1. Fuller’s earth- In a bowl take about 4 tbsp of fuller’s earth. Mix 2tbsp of sandalwood powder and mix 1tbsp of turmeric powder into it. Add some rosewater and mix well. Apply this on the face and wash after half an hour. Continue using this face pack for 2 weeks to notice a difference.

2. Coriander leaves- Make a paste of coriander leaves and apply it on the effected area and leave it for 20-25minutes and then wash it off.Coriander leaves works effectively in curing acne.

3. Lemon- Mix lemon with honey and apply it on your face and leave it for half an hour and rinse off with cold water to get a clear skin.Lemon works great as a skin lightener too and is most effective in curing acne.

4. Garlic juice – Garlic juice is probably the most effective natural ingredient to cure acne, the only problem being that it stings really bad. Apply it for 15 mins and then rinse off with cold water and apply rosewater.

5. Black pepper – Mix crushed black pepper with rosewater. Apply on face and leave overnight. Wash it with lukewarm water in the morning.

6. Neem – Mix 2tbsp of neem powder, 1tbsp sandalwood powder and add a few drops of rosewater. Mix it well and apply it on your face. Let it dry and then wash it off.

7. Camphor – Camphor is known to cure acne.It reduces redness and itching. Mix 1–2 cubes of camphor (depending upon the size) and rose water and spray it on your face. This works as a great toner. This is the elixir for people with oily skin. Spray it on your face daily to get rid of acne.

Editor’s Note: I absolutely loved the tips Rashmi, never tried black pepper and camphor. Will surely give them a try

Have you tried these tips? What do you do to keep acne at bay?

Lotus Herbals Colorstylo Chubby Lip Colors Review, Swatches

Lotus Herbals Colorstylo Chubby Lip Colors Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

I am reviewing three shades from the new Lotus Herbals ColorStylo Lip Color Range.

Product Description:
• Long Stay
• Moisturising
• Preservative Free

MRP:  INR 495 for 3.7g

There is not much information available online yet, but these come in 10 shades from nudes to reds to plums.

To start with the packaging, they come color coded according to their shade which makes it easier to identify. They have retractable swivel up packaging with a transparent cap.

The pigmentation is amazing, you get full opaque color in 2 swipes. These glide on easily and are quick to work with. The finish is glossy but you can blot the color to make it a bit matte. However you won’t be able to blot much as it would otherwise even take away some color/pigmentation. Since these are creamy and glossy, it is also easy to go overboard and beyond the lip lines, so be careful there.

Full size of the product inside

Staying power is quite impressive too, it stayed for 4-5 hours on me without eating and leaves behind a strong stain. Even with eating or drinking, the stain is quite strong and stays though. It is not transfer proof though, but the glossiness would transfer and then later on the stain doesn’t transfer and stays put, if you know what I mean.

T-B: Ruby Red, Orange Madness, Russian Red

206 Ruby Red is a deep berry cool toned red, would look amazing on deeper skin tones.

209 Orange Madness is neutral coral orange, no neon hint and very wearable. Perfect summer colour.

205 Russian Red is a neutral red that would work on pretty much everyone.

L-R: Russian Red, Orange Madness, Ruby Red

Ruby Red swatch was a little blurry as I have a new lens and currently struggling with it, hence did not include it here.

Russian Red & Orange Madness

I love all three reds and oranges, but I would love to try a lighter shade too from this this range. I am eyeing the shade Nude Blush.

Here I am wearing Russian Red.

Price point of 495 is pretty amazing, when all brands are pricing lip crayons much higher. If you don’t mind glossy lip colours, then these are definitely worth checking out. Only problem currently is availability, they are not available online yet, but I have seen it at Lotus Herbals Kiosks all over. Recommend it.

Rating:

Quality: 4/5
Value for money : 4/5
Availability: 3.5/5

Overall rating: 3.75/5

Have you tried the new Lotus Herbals Colorstylo Chubby Lip Colours yet? What do you think of them?

P.S: PR Sample. Honest Review

Natural Bath and Body Vitamin E Whipped Cream Review

Natural Bath and Body Vitamin E Whipped Cream Review

By Pallavi

Hello girlies,

I have read some years back that vitamin E is good for your skin. Actually all the vitamins are approximately good for your skin. But vitamin E specially is known to have miraculous benefits for your skin. so, after that whenever i see any skin care or even makeup product having vitamin E in it i immediately buy it. The same happened with me when i saw this product on one of my online purchases. I like to try new products and new brands. And this was my first winters in Delhi. So, my moisturising products where finishing up like anything. My extremely dry skin was eating up all the products. So, i saw this whipped cream and since i like natural as a brand i bought it. so, here follows the review.

Price : Rs. 275 for 50 ml.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Propanediol, Isoproyl Myristate, Virgin Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Vegatable Glycerine, Heptyl Undecylenate, Polysorbate 20, Arginine, Argan Oil, Avocado Oil, Panthenol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Allantoin, Biosodium Hyaluronate, Silk Protein, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Gluconate, Vitamin E

Directions to use: wash your face. Pat it dry with a simple towel. Now, apply the face cream on completely dry face. apply generously covering your face, cheeks , neck and hands too.

What does the brand claim: Our whipped cream is a decadent indulgence in winter, especially for oily and sensitive skin. It has been vigorously whisked to give it a luscious, fluffy texture that gets absorbed instantly. Loaded with Vitamin E and the charmed potion of Virgin Coconut, Sweet Almond, Argan and Avocado Oils, this ultra-light cream completely nourishes, softens and tones the skin. The high concentration of the antioxidant Vitamin E in this whip makes it an ideal protective and restorative cream for delicate skin.

My experience with Natural Bath and Body vitamin E whipped cream

This whipped cream comes in a tube packaging. it has the product details and all the other things mentioned on the tube itself. For me the tube is informative enough. And since the tube is medium in size. It is perfect for travelling purpose too.

The cream is thick in texture. This makes it perfect for winters. The packaging does not mentions to be used typically on face so you can use it on body or any other area where you feel the need of moisturizer. It moisturizes and heals and repairs your dry chapped skin. it makes the skin really soft in a very short time.

Good about Natural Bath and Body vitamin E whipped cream

Easily available
Natural brand
Affordable
No bothersome smell
Moisturises and heals dry chapped skin
Makes skin soft and smooth

Bad about Natural Bath and Body vitamin E whipped cream

None for me

Rating – 5/5

Editor’s Note: This sounds really nice, would love to try it sometime. Nice review Pallavi

Burt’s Bees Replenishing Regenerant Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil Review

Burt’s Bees Replenishing Regenerant Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil Review

By Nidhal

There’s no shortage of lip balms in an average lady’s armoury but still, one cannot simply get over them, right? There will always be a lip balm that will entice you towards itself the way we are lured to the kitchen when our mothers whip our favourite dish 😛

One lip balm that has been on my to-buy list has been BURTS BEES REPLENISHING REGENERANT LIP BALM. Since winters have wrapped up, I have bid adieu to my lip butters and cleared my ‘armoury’ to make way for lip balms. It goes without saying that after burning a hole in my pocket, I managed to grab this lip balm and today, its report card by me is right before your eyes. Scroll to see if it emerged with flying colours or flunked.

PRICE- Rs 950/- for 4.25 g

DIRECTIONS FOR USE- Glide on lips as often as desired.

INGREDIENTS- Not mentioned

WHAT IT CLAIMS– Give your thirsty lips a whole lot of love with our lip balm with antioxidant-rich Pomegranate Oil. 100% natural, it happily hydrates and revitalizes your lips with a hint of color for an even, beautifully toned appearance.

• Packed with the power of Pomegranate Oil.
• Sweet Pomegranate flavor.
• Single tubes and twinpack available

MY EXPERIENCE-

Burt’s bees replenishing regenerant lip balm comes packed in a cardboard container with the main balm being ensconced in a sturdy plastic tube with a cap on top. Due to the provision of the balm in a tube, I find it a lot less troublesome to use than lip butters which require the user to dip their fingers in the tub of the lip butter. Its cap is sturdy too and hasn’t lost its grip despite a month of use. On the whole, it is up to the mark in terms of packaging.

The balm has a smooth, non-greasy and non-buttery texture. It is lightweight and in spite of being swiped several times, you won’t get a heavy feel. Its staying power sadly, is not praiseworthy given its price. It stays for 1-2 hours in case of my lips which are not dry. With heavy meals, retouch is tacit.

Even though it looks pink, yet it is absolutely colourless. No matter how many times you swipe it, it just doesn’t throw any colour. That’s’ a major put-off for me for I think those with slightly/highly pigmented lips won’t be able to use it. Its moisturising power isn’t commendable. I don’t find it hydrating my lips deeply. So, for those with chapped lips, again it is of limited use.

Despite using it for a month, I didn’t notice any noteworthy result in the condition of lips. A bad investment? Yes, absolutely.

GOOD-

  • Sturdy packaging. The balm never gets stuck in the tube despite regular use (exceptions may exist).
  • Mild and pleasant aroma

BAD-

  • Highly expensive for a lip balm
  • Disappointing staying power for the price paid
  • Almost zero tint. It won’t cover pigmentation hence, of less use to those with dark lips or even slight pigmentation.
  • Does not hydrate lips intensely
  • Availability is an issue. It isn’t still easy to spot in neighbouring markets.
  • Hasn’t impacted the condition of my lips in any noticeable way despite a month of usage.
  • Ingredients’ list has not been furnished.

RATING- 1/5

Obviously do not recommend and not buying it again.

Editor’s Note: Whoa, I have heard such mixed reviews. Some of the Burt’s Bees lip balms are pretty amazing. I have one which is pretty good. Also I did not find this Regenerant one on their website, but only the basic moisturizing Pomegranate one, so this one is discontinued now I believe.

Have you tried this Burt’s Bees Replenishing Regenerant Pomegranate Lip Balm yet?

Top 5 Natural DIY Hair Conditioning Treatments

Top 5 Natural DIY Hair Conditioning Treatments

By Somreeta

The dry and cold weather during the winter months tend to strip your hair of moisture. As a result, your tresses look dull, frizzy, and lifeless. Dry hair is more prone to breakage and develops split ends. Hence, it is important to nourish and condition your hair. The right kind of conditioning treatments during the winters would help to lock in moisture content in the hair shafts, thereby making your hair soft and manageable. Check out the top 5 natural hair conditioning treatments that are not only simple but also effective.

1. BANANA NOURISHING HAIR TREATMENT: Put a ripe banana, 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 tablespoons of honey in a blender. Blend well and apply this rich concoction on your hair shafts. Olive oil is one of the best known natural moisturizers while honey is a natural humectant. Banana helps minimize contraction while nourishing your hair thoroughly. After 30 minutes, wash it off. Be patient while washing, as banana tends to stick to your hair. Do it once a week for best results.

2. WHOLESOME EGG TREATMENT: Whisk an egg, 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise and a cup of plain yogurt in a bowl and apply the mixture liberally on your hair strands. The natural proteins and vitamins present in egg works wonders in strengthening the hair follicles and bringing about significant reduction in dryness. Yogurt makes hair soft while mayonnaise moisturises your hair. Wait for 45 minutes post application and rinse thoroughly with trepid water and shampoo. This homemade hair treatment can be done twice every week.

3. AVOCADO PROTEIN HAIR TREATMENT: Avocado is a rich storehouse of natural proteins and oils. Mash an avocado and add 5 to 6 drops of peppermint oil. Shampoo your hair, squeeze the water out and apply this mask. Wait for about 20 minutes and rinse well. Hair feels soft, smooth and hydrated.

4. CLASSIC MILK AND HONEY TREATMENT: It is pretty easy to prepare this classic hair mask. Mix two tablespoons of honey to a cup of whole milk and apply this natural hair potion along the length of your hair. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse well. This mask strengthens your hair, moisturises it and rejuvenates dry hair. Do this treatment twice every week to see amazing results.

5. HOT OIL TREATMENT: The homemade hot oil treatment has stood the test of time. Warm up any natural oil of your choice and massage your hair and scalp well. You could use olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. You may even love to blend two oils in equal amounts and then, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for extra benefits. Follow up with turban therapy and then shampoo. Hair feels soft, moisturized and well-nourished.

Isn’t t easy to attain gorgeous locks just by following a few homemade hair care treatments? Opt for these DIY conditioners and get beautiful and nourished hair, naturally!

Editor’s Note: I so agree with Hot Oil one. I am going to try a few of these for sure, especially milk and honey 🙂 Nice post Somreeta

Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation Review, Swatches

Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation Review, Swatches

By Sanchita

INTRODUCTION – I have heard so much about Kryolan from every other MUAs I have met that I had to try out this brand. One thing that draws me closer to this is the innumerable shades that they offer. Getting the perfect match for a foundation and concealer is like a dream come true for every girl (Okhay! I exaggerated that :P) I do not have such skin issues but I have worst possible dark circles that surely needs to be corrected and concealed well. Last week I paid a visit to the store and picked up the TV Paint Stick Foundation in the shade FS 28.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Successfully proven cream make-up in stick form. The special base of TV Paint Stick allows a gentle make-up application that provides effective covering at the same time. The Kryolan assortment of more than 250 color nuances for selection is truly extraordinary – which makes this preparation indispensable for stage, film, TV, video work and more.

PRICE – 1000 INR for 25g

Ingredients:

MY REVIEW

Packaging – The Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation comes in a dull silver and grey packaging. It has a screw cap and the foundation is in the form of a stick which needs to be twisted up like a lipstick. The packaging is surely efficient but if I have to go for the looks, I am not much impressed. The hygiene factor is also there as you have to use fingers every time. The printed mask reminds me of ‘V for Vendetta’ which surely isn’t something I want on my makeup. Nevertheless, it is light weight and completely travel friendly. The foundation has a weird smell but nothing to put you off completely. It isn’t very overpowering as well so I wouldn’t complain much.

Shade – Coming the shade, it is FS 21. They have countless shades so you really have to choose carefully. This shade I am reviewing today, will suit mostly NC 42-45 and I am actually NC 41. Hence, it comes off as slightly darker on me so I simple use it on the outer perimeter of my face, conveniently skipping the bronzer. However, it works as a great concealer, provided you know the application well. It has strong yellow-peach undertones and hence will be an excellent choice for warm Indian skin tones. It has some deep shades as well which you can use for contouring.

Texture – the texture is thick and unless you are well accustomed with foundations, I would say – stay away from this one. It is in the form of a pan cake stick and the texture is thick. However, it isn’t very hard to deal with if follow certain procedures. The texture makes it slightly time consuming to blend, especially if you have dry and patchy skin. Therefore, use a good moisturizer and primer underneath. It doesn’t have SPF and there isn’t any white cast spelled on the face.

Application – before the application, make sure you have well moisturized canvas to paint this one. The best way to apply this TV Paint Stick is to use fingers and damp sponge. Warm up the product between your fingers and apply on a small area (do not load up too much products at a time). Now, take the damp sponge and keep buffing unless, you see this blending onto the skin. This is a tip I learnt from the MUAs that for this kind of thick texture, it is better to buff with a sponge than drag and blend. For eyes also, warm up the product and softly pat to blend in.

Coverage – coverage is medium to heavy. It has the ability to conceal acne, scars, dark circles (even the worst cases), pigmentation and the list goes on forever. In fact, coverage is the best thing for which the TV Paint Stick is famous for. It doesn’t look ashy or uneven or unnatural, but good coverage to hide and conceal any blemish whatsoever. It is great for a difficult skin which suffers from flaws and also for the wedding and party purposes.

Finish – I have oily skin and the foundation look dewy to transforms to oily in an hour. Therefore, you have to set it with a good powder (preferably loose) and then you are good to go. Dry skin won’t need a powder except for under eyes as it looks dewy on them. I use the Kryolan TL4 which is a yellow base powder to give a brightening effect to the matte skin.

Criticism – the foundation has certain bad points as well. It is very heavy and doesn’t let the skin breathe at all. It blocks the pores very badly and hence, every time I use this, I end up with tiny zits all around the face. So, this isn’t a foundation to be worn every day. The product wont suit sensitive and acne-prone skin so be cautious when you pick this up. For those, you can try the Dermacolor range which is equally good and oil free.

Staying Power – the foundation stays pretty well and survives around 7 hours even during summer. It doesn’t melt down and create a mess but I always use blotting paper or powder touch ups when I feel that the skin is getting slightly oily. It is also water proof as well.

OVERALL – the foundation is multipurpose and efficient. It has high coverage, dewy finish for dry skin and great staying power. On the downside, it takes a lot of time and effort to blend and break outs due to its thickness. For the price, the amount will last a long time.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • Handy and travel friendly packaging.
  • Countless shades to choose from.
  • Can be used as foundation, bronzer and concealer.
  • Blends well into the skin
  • Heavy coverage and doesn’t look unnatural if applied properly.
  • Dewy finish for dry skin and can be made matte with loose powder.
  • Staying power of around 7 hours.
  • Sweat proof.
  • A little amount will last a long time and hence it is surely value for money.

WHAT I DISLIKED:

  • Dull and unhygienic packaging.
  • Not for beginners as it requires a lot of techniques to blend in.
  • Breaks out on skin due to heavy texture.
  • Can’t be used as a regular foundation.

RATING – 3/5

RECOMMENDATION – I have a love and hate relationship with this. Due to the breakout issues, I simply don’t use it very often but only when I want to opt for heavy coverage for special occasion. Normal to dry skin can use it well with proper moisturization and blending and for others, but only if you are looking for super heavy natural coverage.

Editor’s Note: I have heard so much about this Sanchita, and I always wanted to try. But then again I am not much into super heavy coverage and usually prefer water based and light foundations. Though I feel this is perfect for someone who has to be photographed or has to be in front of the camera all the time.
