Rivaah Wedding Jewellery by Tanishq

Hi guys,

Day before yesterday I went to the Tanishq showroom to checkout the new Rivaah collection, which is the special bridal collection launched by Tanishq

Rivaah Wedding Jewellery by Tanishq, Rivaah Brides by Tanishq, Indian Fashion Blog

About Rivaah: Rivaah is an ode to the beautiful brides of India. As varied as the communities she hails from, the Indian bride looks absolutely resplendent in her wedding finery. Nurturing her hopes and dreams, and experiencing a myriad of emotions, she looks forward to her wedding day like no other, for this is the day she becomes one with her partner.

RIVAAH = RIWAAZ + VIVAAH

I love the name Rivaah, it is a combination (Sandhi in Sanskrit) of Riwaaz and Vivaah. They have rightly combined both ‘tradition’ and different types of ‘weddings’ in India, and brought together this special bridal collection catering to 13 different communities in India.

Doli & Swan Designs

They have kept in mind the traditions followed by the different communities and the signature wedding jewellery found in each community, for e.g. temple jewellery for South Indian brides, the jhalar design for Bengali brides, etc.,

Different communities they have covered:

  • Gujurati
  • Bengali
  • Bihari
  • Marathi
  • Kannada
  • Malayali
  • Marwari
  • Oriya
  • Punjabi
  • Rajasthani
  • Sikh
  • Tamil
  • Telugu

So whether you are a Bengali Bodhu or Gujurati Vadhu or a Punjabi Lari, and any kind of wedding jewellery you are looking for, you will find them all here.

Entire Bengali Trousseau

Also they have quite a few contemporary designs like swan and peacock, a doli bidai procession, dhol, etc., And a beautiful mix of uncut diamonds and gems with gold base for the modern bride.

The jadau and kundan sets are breathtaking, I absolutely loved the two I tried.

They have also covered every bridal function from mehendi to sangeet to the wedding and reception, and you will find a lot of pieces for each function from light to heavy.

As the wedding season is approaching, if you are a bride-to-be, I would definitely suggest checking out the new Rivaah collection by Tanishq as they have a perfect mix of trendy and classic bridal jewellery and the collection has something for every bride out there.

And no, these are not the pieces that you will just wear once and then would stay in the lockers forever, post your wedding. These are something which you can style in so many ways and wear for many different occasions.

Like this necklace I have worn here, is perfect for your cocktail or reception, but you can wear it again with an indo-western fusion outfit or a gown for your close friend or family wedding reception or cocktail. A royal wedding, a red carpet, would work everywhere. Even the gold pieces with detailed enamel work, can be paired with indo western outfits. You can wear just the earrings too for post wedding family dinners, etc.

They also have a beautiful collection of bangles and rings which you can mix and match with a lot of outfits.

There were so many pieces to choose from, I could only capture a few. I suggest going to your nearest Tanishq store and checking out the entire collection for yourself.

Top 15 New Bridal Mehendi Designs for Hands

Top 15 New Bridal Mehendi Designs for Hands

Hi guys,

If you know I had my ‘Mumbai Bridal Diaries’ series covering my engagement and wedding and all posts related to that, see HERE. I am kick starting the Bridal Series again as the wedding season is approaching and what better than starting with mehendi designs.

Sanchita will take from here..

Hello everyone,

Bridal season is going to start soon and I am sure the would-be brides are busy planning everything. Internet, now-a- days, is flooded with every bridal need – from hair style, makeup artists to lehengas. But with so many choice it becomes very difficult to choose the one for your D-Day. Therefore, we thought of bringing you the Bridal Diaries where we would short listed the best of the best for everything a bride needs. This time we came up with the best bridal mehendi designs for hands.

No matter which part of India you belong to, mehendi is a must have thing for the brides except for few traditions. Mehendi has been a part of marriages since time immemorial and there is a reason why the bride applied mehendi or henna on her hand. Firstly, weddings are stressful and tiring and applying henna, which is a very powerful medicinal herb, helps to cure the headache.

It cools the body and keeps the nerves from becoming tense. This is the reason why mehndi is applied on the hands and feet, which house nerve endings in the body. It is also antiseptic and protect from viral diseases. Further, improves blood circulation in the body and improves general health.

It is also considered to be a sign of good luck and festive occasion. Traditionally, it says that mehendi has a rich smell that act as a powerful aphrodisiac and boosts the romance in the initial days of wedding. It is better to use the pure and herbal mehendi or henna which is derived from plants to be used on hands. Chemical ones often causes irritation and contains toxic chemicals in it. The mehendi should be dark burgundy, brown or coffee in color, especially which are natural.

Let us see the wonderful mehendi designs for hands.

1. Peacock designs are the common favorite for everyone when it comes to bridal designs. It has a very feminine and gracious look and widely used in various ways.

2. This is another full hand peacock design but the designs are extremely elaborate. It has several floral and leaf patterns in between which would look flattering for the wedding.

3. A rich floral design which is extremely easy to translate. When the mehendi stains the skin with its deep brown or coffee color, the flower seems to almost come alive in all its glory.

4. An elegant peacock mehendi design with floral patterns. The combination is beautiful.

5. Circular motifs are wonderful and has an aesthetic appeal to it. They look beautiful and well decorative. This is a wonderful design who wants simple and elegant look.

6. A typical bride-groom design. What can be better than this for a wedding?

7. A fine art floral design with semicircular pattern. It has a very soothing touch to it.

8. A full hand floral design for the brides.

9,10,11,12 – These are all the peacock designs combined with the floral and Arabic pattern. All the designs are ideal for weddings.

13. A diamond shaped elaborative floral designs for full hand.

14, 15. The floral and leaf designs combination tiny paisleys are woven together to create a delicate design pattern, the result is a very alluring and looks amazing.

Tips to make mehendi last longer on hands –

  • Keep the mehendi on the hands for a minimum of 8-9hours. It is best if you can keep it for a whole night, around 12hrs of so.
  • Make sure the hands are dry when you are applying the henna or mehendi.
  • Make a juice of lemon and sugar syrup or powdered sugar. The mixture will be sticky but this will give a glorious color to the hands and shine as well.
  • You can also warm the hands under a light or heated box.
  • Use mustard oil to remove the scrubbing particles when you are going to remove it. Take few drops on the hands and rub together to remove.
  • Do not use water for a few hours after taking off the mehendi particles from hand. This will make the color even richer and will last longer on hands.

Editor’s Note: These are some beautiful designs Sanchita, loved the compilation! I loved the no.6 Bride Groom and last no. 15 especially.

Pakistani Brides Who Make Your Heart Skip A Beat

Pakistani Brides Who Make Your Heart Skip A Beat

By Nidhal

Gorgeous, glamorous, ravishing, awe-inspiring… these adjectives are insufficient when used to delineate our fellow South Asian neighbours, particularly, the ladies from our neighbouring country- Pakistan. It will be a lie and a white one at that if we say that we do not drool over these winsome lasses! From their lustrous mane to their piercing eyes, from their porcelain clear skin to their sharp features, Pakistani ladies have it all. All thanks to Zee Zindagi channel now, we can have a sneak- peak into their lives from the confines of our home and hearth. It goes without saying that besides thought-provoking plots presented in the most understated but compelling manner, our eyes have been treated to some jaw-dropping gorgeous faces. Let’s have a look at some Pakistani ladies who on their D-Day made your hearts skip a beat!

1. SANAM BALOCH- She’s blessed with an angelic, cherubic and winsome face. Period. She began her acting career with ‘Kalaq’ on PTV and subsequently went on to carve a niche for herself by doing meaty roles in the hit Dastaan, Akbari Asghari and Noorpur ki Rani. She tied the knot with Abdullah Farhatullah who fell for her simplicity and positive outlook.

2. SANAM JUNG- Beginning her career as a VJ, Sanam Jung soon ventured into the Pakistani drama industry and essayed leading roles in hit dramas like Dil-E- Muztar where her sizzling chemistry with co-star Imran Abbas Naqvi was the talk of the town. She tied the knot with Syed Abdul Qassam who is a pilot by profession.

3. SANAM SAEED- She’s inarguably the first woman crush of my life. Zindagi Gulzar Hai had me smitten to this Britain-born Pakistani lady whose understated portrayal of Kashaf Murtaza struck a chord with me. And it’s no cakewalk to have a girl smitten when you’ve Fawad Khan as your co-star in the same drama 😀 This lady broke a number of hearts (including mine, Yes, I am serious when I say that she’s my crush) when she tied the knot last year with her childhood sweetheart Farhan Hassan who is a banker from Karachi.

4. AYEZA KHAN- She’s the lady whose smile can melt hearts. Gorgeousness-personified! Ayeza Khan got hitched to fellow co-star Danish Taimoor who himself is a celebrated name in the Pakistani drama industry. The couple has been blessed with a baby girl- Hoorain who seems to have inherited her mother’s genes.

5. SYRA YOUSUF- Incepting her career as a VJ, Syra embarked on her acting career with the Sanam Saeed with ‘Mera Naseeb’ in the year 2011. She went on to essay leading roles in successive dramas like Bilqees Kaur and tied the knot with Shehroz Sabzwari- an actor in the same industry. Doesn’t she look like a fresher from a college? :p What will dilate your eyes is the fact that she’s a mother. Yes, a mother. Nurse your broken heart now 😛

Editor’s Note: They all look absolutely gorgeous, dream brides indeed. Thanks for sharing this Nidhal
