Himalaya PureHands Hand Sanitizers Review

Hi guys,

How many of you are addicted to using hand sanitizers and always carry one in your handbag? :raises hand high: Hand sanitizers have made our life very convenient when there is no water or soap/liquid hand wash available. And especially when you are travelling or outside whole day and touching 100’s of things and eating/drinking, etc.,

Himalaya Herbals has it’s PureHands hand sanitizers range and they are available in 5 different variants:

  • Green Apple
  • Litchi
  • Lemon
  • Orange
  • Strawberry

And also come in 3 different sizes:

  • 50ml
  • 100ml
  • 250ml

MRP: Rs.175/- for 250ml, Rs.90/- for 100ml, Rs.55/- for 50ml

What it does: The first of its kind, Himalaya’s PureHands is an effective, herbal, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, which kills 99.9% of germs, prevents infection, and ensures total hand hygiene.

PureHands contains extracts of herbs like Coriander, which have potent antimicrobial properties and Lime, which is a natural bactericidal. In addition, the active ingredients of Neem, which are antibacterial, fungicidal and antiviral, safely keep viruses, bacteria and fungi at bay.

Key ingredients:

Hrivera is a strongly aromatic herb, which has antibacterial, deodorizing and cooling properties. It also softens hands.

Coriander is derived from the oil of a herb called Oil Coriandrol. The fruits of the herb possess antimicrobial and astringent properties.

Lime is a rich source of vitamin C. It protects the skin from oxidative damage and helps prevent itching. The oil of lemon warms the skin when applied externally. The juice also has bactericidal and astringent properties.

Ushira is an astringent and antibacterial herb. When applied externally, it removes excess heat from the body and provides a cooling effect.

Neem extracts possess antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. The tree stem, root and bark have astringent, tonic and antiperiodic properties. Neem is used to treat skin diseases.

Directions for use: Squeeze approximately 0.5 ml (coin-sized drop) of the gel on your palms. Rub well over the palms, back of hands, fingernails and grooves briskly, until dry. No water is required after use.

PureHands is absolutely safe for regular use. It contains moisturizers that prevent skin irritation and dryness. The product has been clinically tested, and its safety and efficacy is proven.

Why PureHands: A series of clinical studies conducted at leading hospitals in India shows that Himalaya’s PureHands significantly reduces microbial germs that can cause a variety of illnesses.

Frequently asked questions:

Washing hands is the age-old method to keep contagious diseases, from the common cold to swine flu, at bay. Health experts agree that a simple measure like frequent hand washing can be very effective in protecting against all types of infections.

While viruses spread through coughs and sneezes, recent evidence has shown that some germs linger on surfaces like door knobs, desks and phones, and are transferred via the fingers to the mouth, nose or eyes.

Washing hands frequently can protect you from the germs that may have been transferred from direct contact with an infected person (through shaking hands, for example) or indirect contact by touching objects and surfaces.

Is there a ‘right way’ to wash hands?

Believe it or not, there is a right way to wash your hands! Just some water and a drop of soap is not enough!

To clean hands properly:

Use warm water (not cold or hot).
Use soap.
Rub your hands together and make sure you have scrubbed all surfaces including both sides of your hands, wrists, between the fingers and around the nails.
Rinse well under warm, running water and pat dry with a clean towel.

If you suspect that your hands have come into contact with someone with an infection, consider using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

What if I don’t have immediate access to water?

In the absence of water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are effective in destroying viruses and bacteria.

The World Health Organization states that one should use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not accessible.

In fact, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends fast drying alcohol gels over soap and water to kill germs and thereby cut infection rates by half! The CDC has advised using a hand sanitizer to prevent against swine flu infection, for example.

When do I use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer?

Routine hand cleansing.
Before touching or eating food.
Before and after attending to a sick person.
Before touching a baby or infant.
During travel or after using public transport.
After contact with surfaces in public places.
After using the washroom or public toilet.
After handling pets or animals.
After visiting a hospital or nursing home.
After doing household work like cleaning, dusting, handling garbage, etc.

I would always recommend using water and soap if available, to clean the dirt properly. But if not available, then hand sanitizer is the best option as it at least kills the germs and not spread them.

Now we have different variants/flavours/sizes and all sorts of sanitizers available in the market. The small 50ml ones are perfect to carry in your handbag and use through the day.

I love the different fragrance options Himalaya has, Green Apple and Lemon are my favourites.

It also helps get rid of any smell e.g. cutting onions, etc., from the hands and leaves the particular variant’s fragrance behind.

Sanitizers can also be used to clean makeup brushes handles, makeup compacts and outside packaging, etc., to keep them clean and bacteria free, in general.

I also love the texture, it’s quite thick so you need very little product. But it’s not at all greasy or sticky, it evaporates instantly and leaves the hand moisturized. It does not dry out the skin or leave them parched.

Few sanitizers have a strong alcohol smell but this one doesn’t. As mentioned, each variant has a distinct and strong smell of it’s fragrance and is quite refreshing.

Hand sanitizers are the need of the hour and I absolutely love and recommend the Himalaya Pure Hands. The bigger bottle is perfect for in house use and the smaller 50ml one for your bags.

Best Face Tightening Exercises | Get Rid of Double Chin

Best Face Tightening Exercises | Get Rid of Double Chin

By Nidhal

Look around yourself. How do people in your ambit look? Do not get deceived by the heady cocktail of chemicals on their face, camouflaging the dullness, tiredness and stress writ on them. No matter what your profession or field you are in, you do not get a license that enables you to turn a blind eye to the natural lustre of your face. Makeup is fun and creative, I agree but if the base (read: your face’s natural texture) is not well-maintained, no amount of makeup will elicit spectacular results.

With improper, insalubrious and untimely eating habits, we are aggravating the situation. How? You are what you eat! It’s time to take back a few steps and incorporate some easy-to- do exercises in your fitness regimen to allay premature aging and drive away dullness.

These exercises will help you tighten your facial muscles and also get rid of that nasty double chin..

1. THE BALLOON FACE- One of the popular selfie poses, the balloon face targets the muscles in your cheeks. All you need to do is inhale deeply through your mouth. Before exhaling, fill your cheeks with air. Your cheeks should resemble a balloon. Hold for a few seconds and release the breath.

2. THE FISH FACE- Another famed selfie pose is here! You do not need any tutorial on how to ace this, do you Ms. Selfie Queen? However, to those who aren’t fond of clicking selfies, here’s how you need to ace this- Suck in your cheeks and purse your lips. Hold for 30 seconds and then relax.

3. THE HULK- Unleash in the inherent Hulk in you by performing the “Hulk Exercise”. This exercise targets the loose skin drooping from one’s neck. To perform it, tilt your head backwards, purse your lips out and place your fingers at the bottom of your neck. Hold for 30 seconds and then revert to your former position. Continue for 5 minutes.

4. THE ‘SMOOTH THE FOREHEAD’ EXERCISE- To target the fine lines that develop on one’s forehead with time, the ‘smooth the forehead’ exercise proves to be fruitful. Place your fingers on the forehead, both facing each other. Spread the remaining fingers likewise and gently swipe the forehead while applying a light pressure to ‘smoothen’ the lines. Continue for 5 minutes.

5. THE ‘TONGUE OUT’ EXERCISE- This exercise may look as if you are teasing someone. So if you intend to and are confronted by them, tell them that it’s a face tightening exercise and walk away slyly! To perform this exercise, raise your eyebrows as high as you can and open your eyes as wide as possible. Hold them for five seconds. Stick your tongue out as far as you can and hold for a few seconds.

6. MASSAGING THE PHILTRUM- The grove between your nose and upper portion of the lip is called the philtrum. Massaging it will sort out smoker’s lines. Doing so is easy too. All you need to do is make inward circular movements using your index finger for 5 minutes. That’s all, you’re done. Incorporate it in your “daily” regimen. It doesn’t need any sophisticated equipment or state of body too.

7. KAPAALBHAATI PRANAYAAM- Kapaal stands for “skull” while bhaati means “shine”. Translated literally, Kapaalbhaati Pranayaam means the “skull shining” exercise. Regular practice will impart an enviable lustre to your face. Doing it is also cushy. Simply sit in a cross-legged position. Let your left hand rest on your left thigh and knee. Now, close the right opening of your nose using your right hand. Inhale deeply. Hold for 15 seconds. Close the left opening of your nose and exhale slowly. That’s Kapaalbhaati Pranayaam andyou have aced it! Do it at least 15 times a day and increase the frequency as you get accustomed to it.

Editor’s Note: These are some interesting exercises, much needed. Will definitely be trying.

1. KAPALBHAATI-PRAANAYAAM- A highly soothing and revitalising asana offering a multitude of health benefits, Kapalbhaati-praanayaam literally translates to ‘skull shining’ exercise for it increases the amount of oxygen in the body which imparts glow to one’s skin. It also helps to give one’s scalp all the oxygen it needs to rejuvenate damaged hair and helps it grow. Start with 20 breaths per set a day and increase its frequency as you gain confidence and strength with each day 🙂

3. SHIRSH-ASANA- Quite challenging and daunting as it may seem, but if mastered, Shirsh-asana is a sure-shot way to ensure long-term health and vitality. Hair loss, greying of hair and baldness are often caused due to poor blood circulation in the scalp. Shirs-asana not only directs enriched blood to the brain, but also sends it to the scalp. The transforming of grey hair into its original colour and good growth of hair is possible through the practice of this headstand pose.

4. PASCHIM-OTTAAN- ASANA- The seated forward bend pose aka Paschim-ottan- asana helps to stimulate kidneys, liver, uterus and enhances blood circulation in the body which further enhances hair growth due to better oxygen intake. It also relieves one off stress, anxiety and a host of minor headache issues.

SHASHAANG-ASANA- Also called the “rabbit pose” for it makes one resemble a rabbit’s structure, Shashaan-asana is what you need to incorporate in your daily workout regimen if flaunting shiny and lustrous tresses is on your “To Do” list. Performing this asana daily for 15 minutes (30 seconds for each set) will improve blood flow to your scalp, thereby bringing more oxygen to it and leaving you with glossy locks in no time, however, the key is to be patient and persistent no matter what 🙂

6. VAJRA-ASANA- Widely known as the ‘diamond pose’, Vajrasana enhances the supply of energy and blood to the upper part of our body. Besides accelerating the rate of hair growth, it also helps in correcting ones back posture.

7. ADHO-MUKH- ASANA- Not only does Adho-mukh- asana acts as a major stress buster, it even helps in stimulating the flow of blood to the head, and thereby accelerating hair re-growth. One set should last for roughly 30-40 seconds. Begin with 5 sets a day and increase its frequency as you get accustomed to it 🙂

Weird Everyday Bra Issues & Solutions

Weird Everyday Bra Issues & Solutions

By Pallavi

Hiii Beauties,

Bra issues are something which we have to face everyday in our life and still behave like there is nothing bothering you. But even then deep inside you know there is something really uncomfortable. I am sure there is no lady in the world who have never faced even a single bra issue. Be it one size larger cup, marks of uneasy straps on your shoulders and god knows what more. So, here I have listed down some of the most common bra issues and their easy peasy solutions. so, let’s begin –

1. Unflattering fat – Have you ever noticed something improper or unflattering in your back shape. Well, that is because you are wearing your bra too high. May be the bra straps are just near your shoulder blades and thus they are hurting you and giving you an extremely bad back shape. So, what you can do is just lower your bra straps or wear a bra which has wider back straps so that it covers more area.

2. Uneasy marks on your shoulders and back – Well, that happens with everyone i guess. Some or the other bra straps leaves marks on your shoulders. I suggest immediately changing the straps or going for the one which has wider straps.

3. Regular sliding of bra straps – This is an indication of weight loss. Well, not always. It can also be the case that you have worn a bra for too long and thus it has gone all loose and that is the major reason why it is sliding. So, either tighten your straps or change your bra or best go for the criss cross straps. They remain fitted for a very longer time.

4. B**bs are over exposed – It can also be the case that the b**bs which are meant to stay inside the bra is coming out more often. This can make you really uncomfortable and give a bad shape to your dress. This is majorly because you are using a size smaller than your bra. Before buying a bra make sure that you try it in the store.

5. Visible pointes – Well, i am sure you might have understood what i am saying here. Has it ever happened to you that you are dressed fabulous but suddenly you noticed that the nip*les are visible even over the top and all pointed out. This is the time when you should go for thicker fabrics bra or use pasties underneath the bra.

6. Hate under wired bra – Well, i know a number of people who don’t wear under wired bra because it hurt them deeply and leave marks on their chest. Well, that is not something because of the bra. That is only because you are wearing the wrong size.

7. Bra and b**bs both travel downward – Another classic example of wearing a faulty size bra is this. The straps which are meant to stay at the back keeps dropping downwards and b**bs also keep dropping continuously.

8. Right bo**b smaller than the left b**b – well, every girls faces this issue. In some of them this big and small thing is less noticeable whereas in some it; more evident. You can easily take care of this by just adjusting your bra straps.

9. Tightening your bra by the last hook – Well, when you are trying your bra in the store before buying make sure that you tighten it by the first hook and not by the last one.

10. Replacing your bra – Well, you should replace your bra every 6 months to 9 months time, because by this time you have worn out your bras and they would be much more loose and all torn out.

These were some of the most common bra issues. Let me know what are the other bra issues you face on everyday basis in the comments down below.

Editor’s Note: This was a very helpful post Pallavi. Even though we know most of these points, we often tend to ignore them and reading them reminds us of these.
