So as I mentioned in my previous post that I wanted to try this pack, I went ahead and bought it from my local chemist. This is something new for me because I haven’t tried this face pack from Himalaya Herbals yet. I have used the Purifying Neem a lot and have also tried the Refreshing Fruit Pack before.
What the Company claims: Himalaya’s Fairness Kesar Face Pack is a unique natural formulation that evens out skin tone for a fairer you! Turmeric, Walnut, Indian Aloe and Kesar rejuvenate and cleanse your skin of impurities, to reveal a natural glow. Walnut and Indian Aloe heal the skin and remove blackheads. Turmeric and Kesar enhance your skin’s complexion and elasticity. CINNABLOC™, our patented, herbal sunscreen agent, protects your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
Key ingredients:
Turmeric has strong anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe your skin gently. The herb helps to even out your skin tone and complexion. It also helps to retain the skin’s elasticity and makes it supple.
Walnut has slightly acidic properties. It is particularly effective in treating acne and in soothing sunburned skin and eczema. Walnut helps in skin cell regeneration and in toning the skin because of its astringent properties.
Indian Aloe acts as an antibacterial and an astringent, which accelerates the healing of injured skin. Indian Aloe also softens and hydrates skin.
Kesar lightens skin, clears spots, enhances the complexion and gives skin an even tone.
Directions: Apply Fairness Kesar Face Pack evenly over cleansed face and neck, avoiding the area around the eyes and mouth. Let the pack dry for 10-15 minutes, and remove with a wet sponge or towel. Rinse with cool water. For best results, use twice a week.
MRP: Rs.70/- for 50g, Rs.130/- for 100g
It comes in the same white and green Himalaya Herbals flip cap tube packaging. It’s a thick, creamy mask and light yellow in colour. It has this soft powdery smell, but doesn’t smell of kesar or turmeric.
I wash my face and towel dry it lightly, keeping it a little damp for the mask to glide on well. Apply it all over the face avoiding eyes and lips and keep it on for 20 minutes before washing off, massaging it with circular motions with wet hands while taking it off.
I have used it 3-4 times till now, like twice a week, and I can say that this does not make your skin fairer, I think what they mean is detan. It definitely removes tan and lightens the acne scars a bit, to make the skin even. But it does require regular and continuous use to show results.
Kesar and turmeric are very good to even out skin while turmeric is also anti-bacterial. Indian Aloe soothes the skin.
Skin feels soft, supple and fresh post usage. I do need a moisturizer post washing the mask though.
I would recommend this face pack in summers, especially if you have tanned after your holidays, this does remove your tan with regular use. I would keep my use once a week now.
You can check out Himalaya Herbals on Facebook HERE and on twitter HERE and also more from their Face Care Range HERE
Have you tried the #HimalayaHerbals #FairnessKesarFacePack yet? What do you think of it?
When we first shifted times were tough. There were issues running the household and I needed to find a solution and find one fast. Then one day, by pure chance, Kalpana Didi came to our lives and our world changed for the better. From cooking amazing dishes every day to keeping the house spick and span, she does it all fabulously and with a smile on her face.
It’s not easy to trust people these days, but her honesty is one of her most valuable features. From checking the vegetables and groceries to reminding me of the shopping list, she is my right-hand woman. And that’s not all, she goes out of her way to do extra work, whenever she has free time.
Through the years, we know that she is someone who we can trust to get the job done. It started with simple, small tasks and then they were built on and our mutual trust has grown with every passing instance, and she has become family to us.
Often when I watch her work, I am pleasantly surprised to see how she goes about her tasks. Each one gets her complete attention and if I am home or not, it gets done diligently. We can completely count on her and appreciate her presence in our lives.
The world can be a scary place until you carve your own space and fill it with those you can trust. They are the backbone in your lives- the people who enable you to take flight. While you might not meet these people every day, it is important to recognise and value them when you do meet them. Through interactions with them through the years, you will find your place in the world and build multiple relationships that you can depend on in the long run.
With the longevity of trust at the forefront, Exide Life Insurance has partnered with MS Dhoni and have launched a campaign #DhoniKaSaath around Lamba saath, bharose ki baat. Watch this beautiful video to know more…
There are some words in English whose meaning is best explained by the Oxford English dictionary. And then, there are some words which are best explained by the men from across the border. For instance, dashing, debonair, hunky, charismatic, alluring… Phew! I can go on and on with this. The point is our neighbours are blessed really well in the looks department and it doesn’t hurt to admire them overtly once, does it? 🙂
If the women set hearts aflutter thanks to their piercing eyes, captivating smile, lustrous mane and striking features, the men make our hearts skip a beat thanks to the visual service they do to us. Thank you, Zee Zindagi for treating our minds to dramas with rock solid plots (with a few exceptions here too) and people who are ridiculously good-looking. So, on that note, why not feast our eyes to those very men from the other side of the border who leave us drooling? 😀
WARNING- DO NOT FAINT AS YOU PROCEED.
ISSUED IN THE INTEREST OF WOMEN THE WORLD OVER.
1. Osman Khalid Butt- A comedian, YouTuber, script writer, poet, secret dancer(or shall I say ‘Dancer in the dark’?) and an actor rolled into one, Osman Khalid Butt- Obi for short, is one of the A-Listers of Pakistan’s drama industry. With a chiselled jawline, piercing eyes and witty one-liners thrown on the spur of the moment by the man, he surely ranks high on the desirability meter. Spare me a minute for I am swooning By the way, his performance in the subtly nuanced comedy drama Aunn Zara remains my favourite so far.
2. Mikaal Zulfiqaar- You saw him umpteen times scorch the screen with his regal looks on Zee Zindagi. In fact, you even saw him in the 2015 Hindi film – Baby play the role of an undercover Indian agent. Mikal Zulfiqaar is a London-born Pakistani actor and model who too features as an A-Lister in Pakistan’s drama industry. He won Best Actor title in Hum TV Awards held in Dubai in April, 2015, for his role in the drama serial ‘Muhabbat subah kaa sitara hai’
3. IMRAN ABBAS NAQVI- Born in the city of lights- Karachi, Imran Abbas Naqvi catapulted to instant fame with the success of his drama- Dil-E- Muztar in 2013. His chemistry opposite Pakistani actress Sanam Jung was the talk of the town. His features are the textbook definition of ‘well-defined’. Intense eyes, a mesmerizing voice and brooding looks make him a complete package.
4. SHEHRYAR MUNAWAR SIDDIQUI- Just have a look at that melting smile and cute eyes. Swoon… Okay, come back now. You saw him perhaps the first time as the unassuming, obliging and sweet as saccharine Usama in Zindagi Gulzar Hai and were left wondering,“Who is that guy?” 😀 An actor by profession, Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui is notable for his role in Hum TV serial Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley, for which he won Hum Award for Best New Sensation Television. Here’s to this chocolate boy who strikes a chord with his honest performances 🙂
5. AHSAN KHAN- A thorough gentleman… that’s what bursts in my mind the moment I look at him. Prim and proper, courteous, dignified and inexplicably good-looking, it is as if the word gentleman was coined after him! Ahsan Khan is a Pakistani film and television actor, host and performer. The fact that he bagged the Hum Award for Best Actor Critics for his show Mausam speaks volumes about his acting chops.
6. ALI ZAFAR- Cute face? Check. Soulful voice? Check. Acting skills? Check. Desirable? Double check. That’s Ali Zafar for you. A Pakistani actor, singer-songwriter, musician and painter, Ali is the first to establish a career in the Hindi cinema and his success led many Pakistani actors to venture into Bollywood films. He made his acting debut with a leading role in the 2010 Bollywood satire film Tere Bin Laden which I find one of the most sensible comedy movies in recent times churned by the Hindi film industry. His performance in the film garnered critical appreciation and earned him several nominations in the Best Male Debut category, including Filmfare.
7. DANYAL ZAFAR- Closely following the footsteps of his elder brother Ali Zafar, the 22 year old Danyal is exceptionally good-looking. Need evidence? Scroll up and come back within 15 minutes. I bet you can’t 😛 All of 22 and Danyal gained recognition with his first appearance on the screen in the short film The Time Machine, released in 2014. A singer and a guitarist by passion, Danyal who has keen interest in blue and rock music genre jams with his brother Ali and also accompanies him in stage performances. We know where the influence is coming from now 🙂 One thing is for sure, great genes run in the Zafar family.
8. DANISH TAIMOOR- ‘Heart break alert’… He’s married and that too, to none other than the alluring Ayeza Khan. They have a daughter named Hoorain and look picture perfect together. Doesn’t that speak volumes about the charm of Mr. Taimoor? Danish Taimoor is a Pakistani actor and model. He began his career in 2005 and his notable work includes Meri Behen Maya, Mannchalay, Jab we Wed , Shert, Sari Bhool Humari thi, Aik Pal and Mehreen Jabbar’s Rehai.
9. ADNAN MALIK– A Pakistani television actor, model, documentary filmmaker, video and music video producer, commercial and music video director, Visual storyteller and former VJ all rolled into one, Adnan Malik is the new sensation of Pakistani entertainment industry at the moment. Born in Islamabad, Adnan made his television debut as an actor in Sadqay Tumhare which earned him a Hum Award for Best Actor Popular nomination at 3rd Hum Awards. Not to forget, he looks the notorious, suave and charming funny man who has the ladies swooning over him as much as they are laughing their hearts out on his witty one-liners.
10. FAWAD KHAN- They say ‘Save the best for the last’. I followed suit. He needs no introduction. Look at those deep, intense, piercing eyes as if staring straight into one’s soul. Melt. That smirk which turns one’s cheeks into all shades of red needs no elaboration. Melt again. His voice that strikes all the chords. The tehzeeb with which he speaks… I can go on and on but eventually nothing will do justice to the man who is the textbook definition of desirability – Fawad Afzal Khan. All I have to say is- You sir, are incredibly good-looking. I am staring at you SHAMELESSLY :p
Editor’s Note: Fawad Khan was a little skinny earlier, then he put on some weight and I saw him in person at an event, needless to say, I am a fan now! Also love Ali Zafar. Imran Abbas Naqvi is going to be a new favourite, I guess 😀
Here I am back with yet another post. With the advent of so many online shopping sites at our disposal makeup and skincare has become a rage. We are aware of the best of high end as well as drug store makeup products. Even the brands which are not available in India are on our fingertips. But many of us can’t get access to those brands. So, what to do in that situation?? Worry not here I am with some of the dupes of high end makeup products. These are the products which are not that easily available in India.
What’s Similar : Both of them come with a tapered brush which gives an edge to the lashes. They help in separating and elongating the lashes.
What’s Not : Dior mascara comes with a quick dry formulation which turns the lashes thick in some time.
2. Benefit High Beam (INR 2665) vs E.L.F. Essential Shimmering Facial Whip (INR 85) –
What’s Similar : Both of these highlighters have a gorgeous, pink sheen which gives a very younger looking dewy skin.
What’s Not : The E.L.F facial whip comes in a tube packaging which is very easy to use. But the finish of the E.L.F. one is very shimmery which is not perfect for day time usage.
What’s Similar : Both of them have highly pigmented 10 metallic and 2 matte shades.
What’s Not : MUA shades are slightly chalky. Also, the UD brush applicator is from cruelty free collection; whereas the MUA brush looks pretty cheap.
4. MAC Prep & Prime (INR 3200) vs Rimmel Stay Matte Primer (INR 1250)
What’s Similar : Both come in similar matte finish which helps the makeup stay longer. Also, they form a smooth base for the skin in order to prep it with the foundation after that.
What’s Not : MAC Prep & Prime stays on for much longer than the Rimmel one. But the Rimmel one is a bit more moisturising than the MAC one. MAC one is meant only for the oily skinned beauties.
5. MAC Ruby Woo (INR 1500) vs Rimmel Kate Matte lipstick in Kiss of life 111 (INR 500)
What’s Similar : Both are deep red with blue undertones in them.
What’s Not : RUBY WOO is very matte with slightly drying formula whereas Rimmel one is a bit moisturising. Also, once ruby woo sets it is impossible to smear.
What’s Similar : Both come in the form of a pen packaging. The formula is creamy which targets to brighten the under eye area.
What’s Not : YSL has a huge shade option of 10 whereas Maybelline has only 3 shade options. Also, touché éclat has limited coverage as compared to the Maybelline one.
7. Smashbox Photofinish Primer (INR 5625) vs NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer (INR 2450)
What’s Similar : Both help in minimizing the appearance of pores and filling them. This makes the makeup look refined and smooth. Even the ingredient list of both of them are somewhat identical.
What’s Not : The Smashbox one makes face greasy after some time. Whereas the NYX one ensures that your makeup stays perfect even by the end of the day.
8. Beautyblender (INR 1999) vs Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (INR 380)
What’s Similar : Both of them are designed in an ergonomic manner to give your foundation a much more even finish.
What’s Not : The Real Techniques one has flat end which makes the application around the eye area easier. Whereas the beautyblender blends foundation way better and quicker that the other one.
9. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (INR 2800) vs Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (INR 195)
What’s Similar : Both of them are so finely milled that excess product also will not make your face look ashy or powdery.
What’s Not : Rimmel one is a bit drying as compared to the MAC one. In winters you cannot use the Rimmel one even with a moisturiser underneath as it will accentuate your pores and cause dry flakes on your face.
What’s Similar : Both of them have similar ingredient list and thus the formula is similar.
What’s Not : The MoroccanOil Treatment is more moisturising for dry hair. It imparts shine and lustre much more than the Organix One.
These were my list of high end makeup dupes. Let me know if you like the post in the comments down below. Also, let me know any other high end dupes you have come across in your makeup journey.
Editor’s Note: That was a very nice list Pallavi. I would like to add two more. Sleek MakeUP Blush in Rose Gold and Makeup Geek Blush in Romance are the dupes of Nars Orgasm Blush! And the Maybelline Gel Liner Black has the exact same formula at less than quarter the price of Bobbi Brown Gel liner Black Ink.
Who would have thought that a leading Bollywood lady would don a bikini given the holier-than-thou and ultra-conservative setup of our society in the 60s- a time when even the vamp’s (dressed in a saree) viciousness had to be manifested by the rhythmic raising of her brows?
It took Sharmila Tagore a Filmfare shoot to mellow down the shame/discomfort in sporting one. A trailblazer in the truest sense of the word, she took everyone by storm when she sported a tow- piece on the cover of Filmfare. It was in 1967. Roughly, half a century later and we have B-town actresses sporting bikinis well relative ease 🙂 A great many of them not just sport it but in fact, sizzle in it compelling both men and women to drool uncontrollably. On that note, let us have a look at those B-town ladies who manage to set temperatures soaring with their bikini avatars.
1. DEEPIKA PADUKONE- Touted as the ‘Bollywood Actress with the Best Body’, it is no surprise that Deepika makes it to the list. Do I even need to expatiate a bit on why? Just look at her. Isn’t her body typically what we call “body goals”? Sculpted to perfection, chiselled with grace and carried with elan, Deepika raises temperatures with her bikini act.
2. LISA HAYDON- This towering lass who is a former model by profession, is blessed with luminous skin, well-defined features and a body to kill for. Naturally, it goes without saying that she carries off a bikini with sheer aplomb.
3. SAPNA PABBI- This Khamoshiyaan actress may look like a typical girl-next- door thanks to her effervescent and pert features, but transforms into a sultry, sizzling and sensual diva the moment she dons a bikini. We are left panting, Ms. Pabbi!
4. BIPASHA BASU- This Bengali bombshell sets the silver screen on fire with her bikini act EVERY TIME she makes an appearance in that two-piece. The sheer confidence she exudes is unparalleled. Didn’t we drool helplessly as she strutted down the beaches in Dhoom 2 and Players? Oh, yes we did.
5. NARGIS FAKHRI- Spare me a minute to compose myself. Those long, unending legs are droooool-worthy. This half Czech- half Pakistani leggy lass is a former model and carries off outfits with aplomb. Period. We had a little sneak-peek of her bikini avatar in Main Tera Hero’s song ‘Galat Baat’ but here is a full-blown visual of this smouldering lady who is sensuality incarnate.
6. ADITI RAO HYDARI- Cuteness is the epithet for Aditi any day. With a heart-warming smile, doe-shaped eyes and pert persona, Aditi resembles a typical girl next door but she magically turns into the seductive diva as she dons a bikini. That is one heck of a transformation but who’s complaining? 😀
7. LARA DUTTA- If there was anything remotely memorable about the movie- Blue, it has to be the visuals of the sultry and exotic Lara Dutta sauntering beaches and swaying underwater. Her sun-kissed skin added an exquisite touch to her bikini avatar. Sensual, exotic, sultry, mesmerising, captivating… keep the adjectives coming. It’s Miss Universe Lara Dutta after all!
Editor’s Note: Deepika Padukone in Cocktail and Bipasha Basu always are my favourites. I also like Priyanka Chopra in the gold bikini in Dostana, Shilpa Shetty in the same movie in the Shut Up and Bounce song.

How many Indian subscription boxes have you tried till now?
While we sing paeans in the honour of eyes for they are appositely called “The windows to one’s soul”, there is another part of ours that exudes sensuality in an unprecedented way. Be it the slight slit of a crop top that gives a peak-a- boo to those chiseled muscles running all the way down or the 9-yard long saree which lets one flaunt that sculpted back the way you have always wanted to, there is no denying that backs are sensual and if flaunted rightly, they can set temperatures soaring 🙂 Tinseltown too, has a fair share of ladies whose backs leave us drooling every time we spot them in attire that flaunts their covetous possession. So, why not have a look at them and get that much- needed boost of inspiration that makes us hit the gym right now?
1. SHRIYA SARAN- Indubitably, the epitome of an Indian beauty for me, Shriya’s facial features are as enviable as her drool-worthy back which augments the grace of her backless blouses all the more. Dove-shaped eyes, fuller lips, glossy tresses, luminous skin, an enviable back that flaunts the skimpiest of blouses tastefully and there you have it, our very own Desi Jasmine
2. VIDYA BALAN- Can there seriously be anyone who does not admire this lady? She is audacious, intrepid and ridiculously sexy. And yes, she knows it too 🙂 Vidya Balan again is one Indian lady whose back makes for a nice piece of art to look at in sheer admiration and envy (if we confess)! Gawk… Drool… Sigh… repeat.
3. DEEPIKA PADUKONE- If offered to, I will without any iota of doubt switch bodies with her. Who wouldn’t? 😀 Her physique can carry off even a curtain if she’s told to! And while we may sigh over her almond-shaped eyes and toned legs, it is her back that raises mercury levels high. Cue? Watch Ram Leel’s Ang Laga De. The grace with which her waist sways and back arches makes her look feminine and enchanting simultaneously.
4. KATRINA KAIF- To those who don’t know, in De Dana Dan (an Akshay-Katrina starrer comedy flick), a special song was added (yes, the ones whose stills you are feasting your eyes to) to bank upon this on-screen couple’s sizzling chemistry. While the lesser we say with regards to the flick, the better but we surely do not disapprove the person(s) whose idea it was 🙂 After all, we got to see that this Hong-Kong born lady has a back that tantalises one to the T.
5. NARGIS FAKHRI- Miss Fakhri who is all the way from The States, has a pout that is the shutterbugs’ fancy to capture. A former model, Nargis posts about her diet and exercise routines on her Instagram account and fortunately, we now ken what that chiseled back of hers is a result of.
6. ANUSHKA SHARMA- Ms. Sharma who redefines pertness, vivaciousness and ebullience is not just a storehouse of energy and youth but also the proud owner of a sultry back that is well- flaunted here by her.
7. PRIYANKA CHOPRA- We, Desis particularly the ladies have some unique possessions just like women across the globe are blessed in some departments. And when swathed in Desi apparel, those possessions get highlighted like never before. Take a cue from the Desi Girl whose back here, can leave one both awed and amazed thanks to the way the saree is highlighting her curves.
Kerala Travel Diaries- Places to Visit, Things To Do
By Sanchita
Introduction –
Kerala, is popularly known as ‘Gods Own Country’, blessed with a scenic beauty of green landscape, a mélange of beautiful beaches, the serene backwaters and a tradition to speak for. It is considered one of the best tourist destinations in India and truly a beautiful one. Dotted with the stunning beaches along the Malabar Coast to the fantastic verdant hillside tea gardens in Munnar, the amalgamation of rich cultures, traditions and folk dances, a land of elephants and the unique local cuisine – Kerala has it all. Kerala is a narrow strip of land with Arabian Sea on one side and Western Ghats on the other side. This place is gifted to receive the monsoon showers first in the city and thus the growth of lush greenery with its radiance and rich fertile soil has also made the land extremely cultivable. Let us see in details about the must visit places in Kerala as well the things to do when you visit the Gods Own Country.
1. Backwaters of Kerala – You want a romantic and serene destination with your partner? Or, a quiet and peaceful experience for a holiday with the family? The backwaters of Kerala is the most tranquil and relaxing place that you have to visit.
