Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation Review, Swatches

Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation Review, Swatches

By Sanchita

INTRODUCTION – I have heard so much about Kryolan from every other MUAs I have met that I had to try out this brand. One thing that draws me closer to this is the innumerable shades that they offer. Getting the perfect match for a foundation and concealer is like a dream come true for every girl (Okhay! I exaggerated that :P) I do not have such skin issues but I have worst possible dark circles that surely needs to be corrected and concealed well. Last week I paid a visit to the store and picked up the TV Paint Stick Foundation in the shade FS 28.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Successfully proven cream make-up in stick form. The special base of TV Paint Stick allows a gentle make-up application that provides effective covering at the same time. The Kryolan assortment of more than 250 color nuances for selection is truly extraordinary – which makes this preparation indispensable for stage, film, TV, video work and more.

PRICE – 1000 INR for 25g

MY REVIEW

Packaging – The Kryolan TV Paint Stick Foundation comes in a dull silver and grey packaging. It has a screw cap and the foundation is in the form of a stick which needs to be twisted up like a lipstick. The packaging is surely efficient but if I have to go for the looks, I am not much impressed. The hygiene factor is also there as you have to use fingers every time. The printed mask reminds me of ‘V for Vendetta’ which surely isn’t something I want on my makeup. Nevertheless, it is light weight and completely travel friendly. The foundation has a weird smell but nothing to put you off completely. It isn’t very overpowering as well so I wouldn’t complain much.

Shade – Coming the shade, it is FS 21. They have countless shades so you really have to choose carefully. This shade I am reviewing today, will suit mostly NC 42-45 and I am actually NC 41. Hence, it comes off as slightly darker on me so I simple use it on the outer perimeter of my face, conveniently skipping the bronzer. However, it works as a great concealer, provided you know the application well. It has strong yellow-peach undertones and hence will be an excellent choice for warm Indian skin tones. It has some deep shades as well which you can use for contouring.

Texture – the texture is thick and unless you are well accustomed with foundations, I would say – stay away from this one. It is in the form of a pan cake stick and the texture is thick. However, it isn’t very hard to deal with if follow certain procedures. The texture makes it slightly time consuming to blend, especially if you have dry and patchy skin. Therefore, use a good moisturizer and primer underneath. It doesn’t have SPF and there isn’t any white cast spelled on the face.

Application – before the application, make sure you have well moisturized canvas to paint this one. The best way to apply this TV Paint Stick is to use fingers and damp sponge. Warm up the product between your fingers and apply on a small area (do not load up too much products at a time). Now, take the damp sponge and keep buffing unless, you see this blending onto the skin. This is a tip I learnt from the MUAs that for this kind of thick texture, it is better to buff with a sponge than drag and blend. For eyes also, warm up the product and softly pat to blend in.

Coverage – coverage is medium to heavy. It has the ability to conceal acne, scars, dark circles (even the worst cases), pigmentation and the list goes on forever. In fact, coverage is the best thing for which the TV Paint Stick is famous for. It doesn’t look ashy or uneven or unnatural, but good coverage to hide and conceal any blemish whatsoever. It is great for a difficult skin which suffers from flaws and also for the wedding and party purposes.

Finish – I have oily skin and the foundation look dewy to transforms to oily in an hour. Therefore, you have to set it with a good powder (preferably loose) and then you are good to go. Dry skin won’t need a powder except for under eyes as it looks dewy on them. I use the Kryolan TL4 which is a yellow base powder to give a brightening effect to the matte skin.

Criticism – the foundation has certain bad points as well. It is very heavy and doesn’t let the skin breathe at all. It blocks the pores very badly and hence, every time I use this, I end up with tiny zits all around the face. So, this isn’t a foundation to be worn every day. The product wont suit sensitive and acne-prone skin so be cautious when you pick this up. For those, you can try the Dermacolor range which is equally good and oil free.

Staying Power – the foundation stays pretty well and survives around 7 hours even during summer. It doesn’t melt down and create a mess but I always use blotting paper or powder touch ups when I feel that the skin is getting slightly oily. It is also water proof as well.

OVERALL – the foundation is multipurpose and efficient. It has high coverage, dewy finish for dry skin and great staying power. On the downside, it takes a lot of time and effort to blend and break outs due to its thickness. For the price, the amount will last a long time.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • Handy and travel friendly packaging.
  • Countless shades to choose from.
  • Can be used as foundation, bronzer and concealer.
  • Blends well into the skin
  • Heavy coverage and doesn’t look unnatural if applied properly.
  • Dewy finish for dry skin and can be made matte with loose powder.
  • Staying power of around 7 hours.
  • Sweat proof.
  • A little amount will last a long time and hence it is surely value for money.

WHAT I DISLIKED:

  • Dull and unhygienic packaging.
  • Not for beginners as it requires a lot of techniques to blend in.
  • Breaks out on skin due to heavy texture.
  • Can’t be used as a regular foundation.

RATING – 3/5

RECOMMENDATION – I have a love and hate relationship with this. Due to the breakout issues, I simply don’t use it very often but only when I want to opt for heavy coverage for special occasion. Normal to dry skin can use it well with proper moisturization and blending and for others, but only if you are looking for super heavy natural coverage.

Editor’s Note: I have heard so much about this Sanchita, and I always wanted to try. But then again I am not much into super heavy coverage and usually prefer water based and light foundations. Though I feel this is perfect for someone who has to be photographed or has to be in front of the camera all the time.

Curatio Fash Anti-Acne Face Wash Review

Curatio Fash Anti-Acne Face Wash Review

By Archana

Winters are almost getting over and sunny days have started. I can feel my skin which suffered from excessive dryness during winters is going to back to its usual oily-combination self. When it comes to face washes, I was using more of creamy cleansers during winters. But now I have to change them to a more deep-cleansing face wash which can control oil for a longer time. Thanks to Bhumika, I got to try this Fash Face Wash from Curatio at the right time. Read to know whether it is a hit or a miss.

Product Claims: Fash Face Cleanser is an innovative approach to healthy skin, which regulates the skin ecosystem. With its specially developed formulation, Fash helps remove dirt, dead cells and excessive oil without leaving skin feeling dry. Regular use of Fash cleanser helps maintain clean, youthful and radiant skin.

Ingredients:

Directions to use: Wet face with water, pour sufficient quantity of Fash face cleanser on palm, develop a rich lather, and gently massage on face for 2 minutes. Rinse off. Repeat if skin is very oily. Use 1-3 times a day.

Packaging:

The face wash comes in a sturdy plastic tube with a flip-open cap. The blue and white color graphics of the tube looks fresh and energizing. I have carried around the tube in my handbag and there has been no leakage or spillage. So packaging wise, the face wash looks good as well as convenient and travel friendly.

Texture and fragrance:

The face wash is blue colored with a mild, fresh, menthol-kind of fragrance. The texture of the face wash is one of the weirdest I have ever come across. It is gel-like and sticky.

My experience:

I have been using the face wash for the past two weeks and have been pretty satisfied with it. Except for the weird, sticky texture that I have mentioned above. When I squeeze the face wash into my hands, the gel just sticks to my hands. I have a hard time spreading it on my face as it just sticks to the skin, even though my face is wet. I need to massage well for it to work. It doesn’t create any lather as such. But on massaging for some time, the blue gel texture turns into bluish-white paste like a face pack. On the directions, it is mentioned that the face wash has to be massaged for 2 minutes. And I felt, it works well only when used that way.

Initially, I was using it in the usual quick way of applying and washing off like any other face wash and it didn’t work well. Also, owing to the sticky consistency, it becomes difficult to wash off as well and takes time to remove it completely. Even I have a hard time washing it off from my hands. While washing, if any gel accidentally drips into your wash basin, it sticks there as well and you have to scrub to get rid of it.

But for all this hard work in using a face wash, the results are very satisfactory. It deep cleanses the skin and removes all oil, dirt and gives a fresh look. Am not sure if it contains menthol or not, but it gives a nice cooling and fresh feeling just like a menthol-based face wash. It doesn’t dry out skin much and I don’t feel the need to immediately reach for a moisturiser, though that might not be the case with dry skin people. It keeps my face fresh and oil-free for around 4-5 hours which is pretty good. Also, as mentioned in the product claims, I feel that it removes dead cells too and the whiteheads which I used to get frequently are more in control now.

Pros:
* Deep cleanses skin and gets rid of all dirt and oil.
* Gives a nice cooling effect.
* Keeps face oil-free for 4-5 hours.
* Removes dead cells.
* Controls whiteheads.
* Doesn’t dry out skin.
* Mild fragrance which is not bothersome.
* Nice and travel-friendly packaging.
* Free from SLS and parabens.

Cons:
* Sticky texture.
* Difficult to wash off.

Price and quantity: Rs.190 for 100g.

Rating: 4.3/5

Verdict: Overall, Curatio Fash Face Wash is a good face wash for oily-combination skin especially in summers. It gives a nice cooling feeling, deep cleanses skin and keeps it oil-free for a long time. Only con is the sticky texture which takes a while to spread and then wash off.

Editor’s Note: Oo..this is something quite unique and interesting. I have never tried something like that, but since this is specially meant for acne prone skin and controls that, it will be a boon for acne prone people. Nice review Archana 🙂

The Body Shop Black Musk EDP Review & Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial

The Body Shop Black Musk EDP Review & Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial

Hi guys,

So The Body Shop recently launched their Black Musk Range and the theme for that is #NaughtyAndNice. It’s a combination of strong musk with the sweet vanilla and licorice notes, hence naughty and nice.

While the naughty side would be more of a smokey eye, this is the softer ‘Nice’ shade. And this soft pink makeup tutorial is also perfect for the Valentine’s Day, win win! All the Body Shop products I use in this video are mentioned at all Body Shop stores in the ‘Nice’ makeup look face chart. Similarly, if you prefer a smokey look, you can check out the ‘Naughty’ Face chart. Here is the face chart for reference or to buy the products online.

So here is the my ‘Nice’ version and this soft pink Valentine’s makeup look..

Talking about the Body Shop Black Musk Range, they have a EDP, EDT and the Perfume Oil. I have been using the EDP since the past few days and getting lots of compliments on it.

I am more of a woody, musky smell lover and I don’t like over sweet perfumes, the Black Musk is a perfect balance of the two coz the sweet vanilla and licorice notes are balanced with the more woody musk smell. At the initial sniff, you will find it very sweet but soon as it settles, you will love the mid and base notes of this.

Notes are sweet pear infused with pink pepper and bergamot on top. Intense aroma of heliotrope, which varies between marzipan and almond, is interspersed with ylang-ylang and aphrodisiac notes of licorice, in the middle. Hot black vanilla, black musk ,earthy patchouli, vetiver and chocolate at the end.

Few people have mentioned that it did not stay that long on them, fortunately on me this EDP lasted really long, also the EDP is the strongest of the three and if you wish to buy any one, I would definitely suggest getting the EDP.

Both the EDP and EDT contain Community Fair Trade Organic Alcohol crafted from sugarcane that is harvested by co-operatives in South America.

It is priced at Rs.3295/- for 50ml which is pretty decent for a 50ml bottle. I quite like the black and pink packaging too, only thing is I cannot see the exact qty through the bottle.

Overall, I would say, definitely take a whiff of this Black Musk EDP the next time you are at The Body Shop store, coz I am sure you will love it 🙂

Earrings are from Accessorize India.

Feb 2016 Forest Essentials My Envy Box Unboxing

Feb 2016 Forest Essentials My Envy Box Unboxing

Hi guys,

So after the Feb Fab Bag yesterday, it’s time for the Feb My Envy Box, and this time they are celebrating 15 years of Luxurious Ayurveda and it’s the Forest Essentials Special Box.

All the products are from Forest Essentials and it is one of my favourite brands that actually works and shows results on your skin and is all natural and free of chemicals.

MRP: Rs.850/- (Available HERE)

The box is white colored with a pretty peacock design on the top, looks quite nice. All the FE products inside are arranged well compartment wise.

The products in this month’s box:

  • Forest Essentials Mashobra Honey & Vanilla Body Lotion- Rs.375/- for 50ml
  • Forest Essentials Luxury Sugar Soap- Rs.295/- for 50g
  • Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub -8g (Full size is Rs.1675/- for 50g, so this should be around Rs.300)
  • Forest Essentials Lightening & Brightening Tejasvi Emulsion- 8g (Full size is Rs.2275/- for 50g, so this would be Rs.400)
  • Forest Essentials Madurai Jasmine & Mogra Silkening Shower Wash- Rs.295/- for 50ml

The prices of the smaller 8g samples mentioned on the card are not really justified coz the difference is huge compared to the original price of the product, so there must be a mistake. But still the products are pretty decent sized and the body lotion, soap and shower wash are perfect for travel too.

The total value of the products in the box comes to around Rs.1650-1700 which is still pretty good coz you are paying Rs.850/- per month which is half of that, and even lesser with 3 months of 6 months subscription.

I love FE products and these samples are perfect for me to try and know if it’s worth investing in the full sized product coz FE is not exactly cheap. I definitely recommend getting this month’s My Envy Box, even if you have never tried Forest Essentials products or you swear by them, either way it’s a win-win.

Also there is a special discount card and you can get 10% off on all purchases above Rs.1000/- on Forest Essentials India website using ‘FE15YRS’. My Envy Box has come up with a luxury jewellery subscription in association with NIMAI and currently there is 10% off for the month of Feb using ‘JEWEL10’

Do you like Forest Essentials? Which is your favourite out of the lot. in this month’s box?

All About Laser Hair Removal Treatment

All About Laser Hair Removal Treatment

By Ishleen

Hair free, now pain free?  Yes, please!

When was the last time you girlies had to endure the distressing pain of waxing and tweezing and plucking? It is DEVASTATING! Okay! Maybe devastating is too harsh a word! But you got my point, right? It is upsetting. Be it a full body waxing session, a facial wax or a bikini wax, the very thought of getting my hair torn apart from my body makes me cringe. And if treatments like the laser treatment, that we are going to talk about today, come to our rescue, I would personally call it a SAVIOUR.

Thanks to the ever growing field of technology, beautifying yourself has become much more convenient and hassle-free. This is where comes handy the oh-so-famous LASER HAIR REMOVAL therapy. Agreed, it is a typically, not-so-pocket-friendly treatment that we are talking about. But if you have that extra credit to splurge, then why not!

TYPES OF LASER TREATMENTS AVAILABLE:

Permanent hair removal through laser beams has been getting popular over the past few decades. Many of us do not know, what exactly is all this about. So here, let me help you out! Basically, permanent hair removal can be done by two ways. Firstly, the laser beams, in which highly concentrated beams are focused on a target area, killing the hair follicles on the targeted skin. Secondly, hair removal can be done through IPL, i.e. Intense Pulsed Light. In this particular treatment, beams of low intensity are widely interspersed on a larger area. IPL is a more general process than laser treatment, which is more targeted. And due to more specific results, people often chose laser treatments over IPL treatment.

HOW DOES THE LASER TREATMENT WORK?

This is the question which hovers over our mind the most often. How exactly does this treatment help in permanent hair loss? Let’s face the truth here. Even laser hair treatments do NOT provide any permanent solution to unwanted hair growth. It just delays the growth of the hair for longer durations. The laser attacks the skin, and in the process kills the hair follicles. More precisely, it attacks the melanin in the hair follicles.

The next big question that arises in our mind, is this suitable for us? Laser treatments were basically targeted for the “LIGHT SKIN-DARK HAIR” audience. Those who had pale skin and darker hair were the most apt patients for this treatment, but now these treatments can be used by dark skinned beauties as well, thanks to the advanced technology.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT CLINIC:

Wait, what? Did I just say clinic? Patients? Treatments? Yes, it is a medical procedure. So if you are thinking of getting it done, steer clear form spas and saloons which provide these services without any medical and professional guidance. Even if you are planning to get laser hair removal done from a reputed hospital or clinic, make sure it is done by a professionally acclaimed cosmetic surgeon. In the case of the treatment being done by the doctor’s assistant, make sure a competent doctor remains on site of the procedure to look into any complications.

Surely, it would burn a hole in your pocket, but for some, it has proved to be worth the splurge. The treatment would require about 5-6 sittings, after which approximately 70% of the targeted area’s hair follicles die, thus resulting in hair loss which seems to be permanent. The average cost for each of these sessions may vary from clinic to clinic; depending on where you get it done from and which areas do you target. The sessions generally are meted out on alternative months and can be continued with touch ups, which should generally be taken, for better results.

But alas, no good things come without drawbacks. Most of the times, people who undergo these treatments have to suffer from swelling, redness and rashes on the skin. The skin can get irritated, but your doctor can prescribe ice-packs or targeted gels which can comfort your skin. Although scarring and blisters can occur on the skin, but these cases are very rare and are mostly seen on people with darker skin tones. No, I am not a racist. There is a scientific reason behind that. The darker skin has more melanin and can absorb the radiations more easily as the skin gets more porous. Other changes that may occur after the procedure are hypo pigmentation or hyper pigmentation, which is lightening or darkening of the targeted skin. Though these changes are temporary, but yes, they may happen.

PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT:

Like any medical procedure, even laser treatment has a set of do’s and don’ts. Consultation with a reputed and experienced doctor is a must, beforehand. You should discuss with your doctor regarding the treatment; whether it is suitable for your particular skin and what results should you be expecting after the required sessions. Discussing the cost is also a generally good idea. Many doctors do advise avoiding direct contact with sun, at least six weeks before the due treatment. It is advice to cut back on waxing, plucking or electrolysis, i.e. any process which can hamper the hair follicle. Some doctor’s advice to shave the skin before the procedure, to get improved results. You may think, why this difference? It is because waxing damages the hair follicle and tugs at it; whereas shaving removes hair while keeping the follicle secure

Indeed, waxing is upsetting, and the mere thought of bikini-waxes makes us cringe and shiver. Yes, yes, we all hate the pain but love that silky, smooth-as-a-baby’s-butt skin. With the improved technology, you can bid the hot and messy waxing adieu forever. Sounds blissful! Doesn’t it?

So this is basically it. This is what I think about this so talked about practice. Go ahead, give it a try. But remember to play it safe. Stay beautiful.

Editor’s Note: Well written Ishleen, I have tried the Laser Hair Removal for my underarms and bikini area, read HERE and HERE. It’s been more than a year and I could not complete all 6 sessions still my growth has reduced a lot! It is basically hair reduction and not hair removal.

Have any of you tried laser hair removal/reduction? Your experience?

Feb 2016 ‘Love & Makeup’ Fab Bag Unboxing

Feb 2016 ‘Love & Makeup’ Fab Bag Unboxing

Hi guys,

I just got my February 2016 Fab Bag and the theme for this month’s bag is ‘Love and Makeup’ as it’s the Valentine’s month.

Read my previous Fab Bag reviews:

MRP: Rs.599/- per month (Buy HERE)

It’s a red colored textured pouch going along the ‘Love’ theme.

The products in this month’s bag:

  • Just Herbs Coorgi Coffee Lip Smoothening Lip Salve (Full sized)- Rs.345/- for 8g
  • Hikari Cosmetics Blush- Sun Kissed (Full sized)- Rs.1000/- for 6g
  • Spa Ceylon White Jasmine Facial Masque (Full sized)- Rs.2150/- for 100g
  • Chamki Nail Polish in Firozi Blue (Full sized)- Rs.150/- for 11ml
  • Estee Lauder Perfect Clean Multi Action Lotion/Toner- (7ml)- Rs.4470/- for 200ml

I got the Spa Ceylon White Jasmine Facial Masque in the Dec bag and it was a month where you could select one product and I had selected this coz previously I had got the Cooling Foot Scrub in Oct and wanted to try this. Though I love this masque but I am still not done with the previous one and would have loved to try something else than the same product.

The Just Herbs Coorgi Coffee Lip balm is one of my favourites, it smells amazing (like filter coffee) and it free of chemicals, parabens and does not feel waxy. The most light weight lip balm I have ever used and I am glad I got another of my favourites.

Hikari Blush in Sun Kissed is a pretty milky brown shade, I thought it would shimmery and more like a bronzer coz of the name ‘Sun Kissed’ but it is almost matte with very subtle shimmer and it would a perfect contour shade for me. For girls who are fairer and lighter than me, this would make a nice everyday blush but I doubt this would show up on darker skin tones. It can also double up as an eye shadow and/or a transition shade for blending.

Estee Lauder Perfect Clean Multi Action Lotion/Toner is a deluxe sample and pretty good to try out for 6-7 days.

Chamki Nail Polish is again a full sized 11ml nail paint, the color is a nice, teal blue and very summery. I have never heard of this brand, looking forward to try this out.

Overall I would say I am quite happy with the full sized products and the brands in this month’s Fab Bag. The value of products are around Rs.3800-3900/- which is amazing for a bag worth Rs.600/- Definitely recommend getting this month’s Fab Bag.

Did you get your Feb Fab Bag? What products did you receive? Do let me know in the comments below.

Lotus Herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Nutritive Night Creme Review

Lotus Herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Nutritive Night Creme Review

By Archana

Hi all,

Today, I will be reviewing a night cream, Lotus Herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Nutritive Night Creme. Winters have started and our skin needs adequate nourishment. Dry skin is the main cause of fine lines and wrinkles. To keep our skin youthful and supple, it is best to add a night cream in our routine, atleast during winters. Night creams are not like regular moisturisers as they work to provide deeper hydration and nourishment. Read on to know how this night cream from Lotus Herbals fares.

Products claims: Nutranite is a luxurious nutrient-rich night cream that helps renew the skin while you sleep. It works with skin’s own repair and replenishment system to undo the damage caused by dehydration and environmental exposure during the day. It boosts skin’s resiliency, strengthens natural defences while restoring firmness and smoothening imperfections. As a result, skin is supple and renewed in the morning.

Active ingredients :- Naturally derived Alpha Hydroxy fruit acids derived from grapes, nourishing Ginseng & Lily nectar.

Ingredients:

Directions to use: After cleansing face with LEMONPURE and toning with ROSETONE, apply NUTRANITE in dots all over the face and neck area. Use finger tips to gently massage spread the creme.

Packaging: The night cream comes in a pretty translucent glass jar with a golden screw lid. There is an outer carton box with blue and silver graphics. The entire packaging feels very luxurious and I feel like am treating myself to something special. However, being glass, its little heavy to be carried around.

Texture and fragrance: It is a milky white colored cream with a very soft, fluffy, whipped texture. The consistency is thinner, more like a souffle. It has a nice fruity fragrance of grapes which I love. The fragrance is mild and pleasant and not overpowering.

My experience: I initially purchased this night cream few months back during summers. But it didn’t work for me then as it made me sweat too much and clogged pores. So, I left it for a long time without using. Now as winters have started, I thought of giving it another try. And I am surprised to say, it works beautifully. I have combination skin which gets very dry in winters. I have been using this cream every night for the past one month. And my skin texture has improved a lot. Just a tiny bit of cream is needed. The soft, whipped texture makes it easy to massage all over my face. I usually massage for around 2 minutes as a regular massage promotes blood circulation and maintains youthfulness. The cream sinks in completely within few seconds without any stickiness or greasiness. My skin feels so soft and supple. When I wake up in the morning, I can feel my skin adequately nourished and little glowing. Also, due to the deep hydration it provides, with regular use, the fine lines on my forehead have been smoothed out. This is an excellent night cream for normal-dry skin. Combination skin people like me can use it in winters. Some might feel its expensive. But as very little quantity is needed each time, a jar will easily last for 2 months.

Pros:
* Soft, fluffy whipped texture.
* Provides intense nourishment and deep hydration.
* Makes skin soft and supple.
* Smooths out fine lines with regular use.
* Contains goodness of AHA from grapes, ginseng and lily nectar.
* Nice fruity fragrance.
* Attractive luxurious packaging.

Cons:
* Might not suit oily skin people.
* Applying more amount of cream in summers can cause sweating.

Price and quantity: Rs.395 for 50g.

Rating: 4.3/5

Verdict: Lotus Herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Nutritive Night Creme is a good budget-friendly night cream which delivers excellent results in terms of nourishment and hydration. Combination skin people can use it in winters and normal-dry skin people can use it all year round. Oily, acne-prone skin people should stay away from it. Also, if you are looking for a night cream with extra benefits like brightening, anti-ageing, pigmentation, etc, then this is not for you.

Editor’s Note: This sounds perfect for current winter weather Archana, I love using oils and rich creams at night time, especially in winters. Lovely review 🙂

Have you tried the Lotus Herbals Nutranite Night Cream? Which is your favourite night cream?

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub Review

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub Review

Hi guys,

I have reviewed the Clean & Clear Morning Energy face washes before HERE and the Foaming Facial Wash HERE. Today I am reviewing the Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub.

What the Company claims:  Apple extracts that visibly reduce blackheads in just 3 days!

Recommended For: Those with blackheads, and those who don’t want them. For normal, dry, oily, and combination skin types.

How It Works: CLEAN & CLEAR® BLACKHEAD CLEARING Daily Scrub is a fast and effective solution for skin that is prone to blackheads. It has effective micro-scrubbing beads that break down trapped oil, dirt, and dead skin. The natural apple extract formula penetrates deep into pores to help soften stubborn blackheads, and prevents new ones from forming. Its gentle exfoliating action leaves your skin smooth and clean!

Directions: Squeeze a small amount on wet palm. As you work into a rich lather, gently massage the product all over your face, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off thoroughly. Use daily for skin that’s beautifully clean and clear!

Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Propylene Glycol, Lauryl Methyl Gluceth-10 Hydroxypropyldimonium Chloride, Polyethylene, Glycoldistearate, Laureth-4, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Carbomer, Salicylic Acid, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, CI 77289, Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Malic Acid, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Juice, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Juice, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Juice, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Juice, Trideceth-9, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Extract

MRP: Rs.110/- for 80g (BUY HERE)

I was a regular user of this scrub and have gone through a lot of tubes, I am glad I got to try it again. It comes in a ombre blue tube with a navy blue flip cap packaging. Packaging is convenient and travel friendly, it also comes in smaller sizes which are perfect for travel.

It is gel like in texture and off white in color with tiny, white exfoliating beads and small green granules in between. It also foams a bit and can be used as a face wash. You do not need separate face wash and face scrub as it does the job of both beautifully.

It takes off the dirt and oil and skin feels squeaky clean post washing. Concentrate more on the nose area and the chin i.e. the area between the lip and chin while scrubbing, coz those areas are prone to blackheads the most.

Coming to the ingredients, it has Salicylic Acid which helps clear acne and blemishes and also acts as a mild exfoliator. Witch Hazel water makes for an excellent astringent/toner. Malic Acid helps in brightening & smoothing the skin. Aloe vera hydrates the skin. Kiwi & Orange juice are both loaded with Vitamin C and help you in clear, glowing skin. Grapefruit juice has retinol and has anti-aging benefits. It is also anti-bacterial. Apple Juice is amazing for oily skin as it helps treat acne and is full of Vitamin C. It helps uproot the blackheads which then come off easily with the scrubbing motion. It does have Alcohol which is a bit drying but the Sweet Almond Oil would balance the dryness.

This scrub as the name suggests is perfect and gentle for daily use. It will not harm the skin as the scrub granules are very mild and won’t tear your pores.

I don’t have a lot of blackheads but I do have a lot of whiteheads and this scrub has helped me in getting rid of all the whiteheads with a week of regular use. I think it will need longer and continuous use for blackheads though. You can also use it post makeup removal, to get rid of any makeup left in pores and cleanse the skin thoroughly.

I am using it daily right now and absolutely love it. Highly recommend it. It is economical and works for all skin types.

Rating:

Quality: 4.5/5
Value for money : 4.5/5

Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream Review

Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream Review

By Pallavi

Hello Beauties,

As it is said that you should listen to your mother. She is always right. And similar to every household my mother passed on some of the age old things to me. Her beauty and skin care secrets were some of the things she passed me. Among which BOROLINE stands as no. 1 skin care secret. Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream is an age old cream. It’s not a recent discovery. I guess many generations in India have been using this. And it’s a definitely a hit product.

So, today i am reviewing one of my favourite and everyone’s too – Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream.

Price : Rs.40 for 40 grams

Directions : Take the cream in your fingers. Apply on any of the cracked or chapped part of your body. You can apply on your foot heels, lips, hands, face and likewise. Blend the cream a bit with your hands after applying.

Shelf life : 5 years from the date of packaging

Smell : Ayurvedic

Colour : White

What Boroline Claims : A protective and soothing emollient for chapped skin, cracked nipples, cuts and dry skin diseases.

My experience with Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream

Boroline antiseptic ayurvedic cream comes in a wide tub. Recently boroline has revamped its packaging. It earlier used to come in tube form. But now, it comes in tub form too. That also in 2 sizes – 40 grams and 100 grams. i find the tub packaging quite easy to use. It’s true you have to dip your fingers inside. But at least you get a different packaging. And this packaging actually has a lot of product inside as compared to the tube one. You have the product details mentioned on the base of the tub.

The antiseptic cream is white in colour. It is thick and creamy in texture. The texture is really irritating some times. It is very thick and you need to blend a lot to sink the product inside but even then it sits on the top of your skin.

But the cream has exceptional moisturising properties. It heals and repairs almost every part of the body. Right from your cracked heels to your chapped lips it moisturisers anything. I would suggest severely dry skin ladies to use this as this is a sure shot formula to get soft smooth supple skin.

The cream smells heavily of ayurvedic which is not at all troubling for me. But sensitive noses can find it troublesome. Also, the longetivity of the cream entirely depends on your amount of use. They have no doubt a lot of product inside and even with daily usage the product is sure to last for months.

Let me list you down how should you use this cream –

Heals extremely dry lips
Works against dry skin
Works as a first aid in case of minor cuts and wounds
Can serve as an antiseptic in case of allergies

Conclusion – Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream is a winner for me in all respects. I always recommend to this one when i have nothing else for my dry skin.

Good about Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream:

  • Trustworthy brand
  • Age old trusted product
  • Available easily
  • New and attractive packaging
  • Pocket friendly price
  • Repairs almost everything
  • Perfect for harsh, dry winters

Bad about Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream:

  • Need a tough hand to blend in
  • Gives a “chip-chip” feeling
  • Smells heavily
  • Not suitable for oily skin

Johara Instant Radiance Face Scrub, Amaranthus and Amazon Lily Body Lotion Review

Johara Instant Radiance Face Scrub, Amaranthus and Amazon Lily Body Lotion Review

Hi guys,

If you remember I had reviewed Johara Cosmetics before (See HERE), they have come up with two new products i.e. the Johara Instant Radiance Face Scrub and the Amaranthus and Amazon Lily Body Lotion. I have tried the Amaranthus and Amazon Lily Body Mist before and it smells absolutely amazing, so I was quite excited to try the body lotion.

Coming to the review, let me start with the face scrub first.

What the Company claims: Johara® Instant Radiance Face Scrub is formulated with natural exfoliating ultra-fine walnut grains and a blend of lemon peel extract and neem oil to gently slough off dull skin layers, remove impurities and promote natural cell exfoliation. Brighten up lackluster skin with this creamy formula enriched with Cococin™ CG , a nutrient rich extract from green tender coconut water to rejuvenate skin to leave skin feeling clean, smooth and toned for a simply radiant complexion.

Paraben, Sulphate, Formaldehyde , Synthetic dye Free

Benefits:

:: Gently exfoliates the skin

:: Nourishes, hydrates and softens the skin

:: Leaves your skin clean, refreshed and renewed

:: Moisturizes your skin better from the inside out

:: Cleanses the skin of impurities

Step 2 : Take a dab of the Johara® Instant Radiance Face Scrub and massage it all over face and neck. Be careful not to rub too hard. Recommended use is twice in a week. Regular use of face scrub exfoliates dead cells, blackheads and reveal instant radiant skin.

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Lauryl Glucoside, Sorbitan Stearate & Sucrose Cococate, Isopropyl Myristate, Isopropyl Palmitate & Pentaerthrityl Tetraisostearate, Cetyl Palmitate, Stearic acid, Cetostearyl Alcohol, CI 77891, Juglans Regia (Walnut) Shell Powder, Zea Mays (corn) Starch, Niacinamide, Azadirachta Indica (Neem) Seed Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel extract, Phenoxyethanol & Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance, Cocos Nucifera Juice, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Amino Methyl Propanol, Pentaerthirtyl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnmate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Menthol, Disodium EDTA.

MRP: Rs.500/- for 100g

It comes in this bright red tube with a grey flip cap. It’s an off white creamy scrub and has a strong herbal smell.

The scrub is very very creamy and has walnut shell powder for exfoliation. The shells are grainy enough for perfect exfoliation and the cream base is so amazing that it moisturizes the skin at the same time and does not leave the skin dry at all.

I love creamy scrubs and this is one perfect face scrub, but do not use it for more than twice a week. I prefer using it once a week as I do not exfoliate the skin much.

It’s definitely slightly on the expensive side but the 100g quantity is huge and if one has to use it 1-2 times a week, this would last pretty good. You can buy it directly from the Samidirect website or from Flipkart, Shopclues, Snapdeal, etc.

Now coming to the body lotion,

What the Company claims: Johara® Amaranthus and Amazon Lily Body Lotion is enriched with the goodness of Amaranthus oil which deeply hydrates and helps the skin to maintain moisture. A fast absorbing body lotion that moisturizes and softens the skin. Enriched with Cococin™ CG, a nutrient rich extract from green tender coconut water that rejuvenate and leaves skin feeling smooth and nourished.

Benefits:

:: Luxurious blend to pamper and nourish your skin

:: Optimum moisture balance with natural skin protection barriers

:: Restorative nutrients to afford soft and smooth skin

Directions: Apply onto body and gently massage.

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Sorbitan Stearate & Sucrose Cocoate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cyclotetrasiloxane (and) Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Dimethicone (and)Trisiloxane (and) Phenyltrimethicone (and) Isoparaffinic hydrocarbon, Cetyl Alcohol, Methyl Gluceth – 20, Carpylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isopropyl Palmitate & Pentaerthrityl Tetraisostearate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Gluconate, Amaranthus Caudatus Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Garcinia Indica Seed Butter, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol & Methylisothiazolinone, Pentaerthirtyl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Carbomer, Amino Methyl Propanol, Cocos Nucifera Juice, Mica & CI 77891, Disodium EDTA.

MRP: Rs.550/- for 200ml

It’s a body lotion but it comes in this green and white flip cap tube form. It is white in color and has quite a runny consistency, not as fluid as liquid but it is water based.

It smells absolutely amazing, the combination of Amaranthus and Amazon Lily is amazing, I am not a fan of floral smell but this is something very unique and nice. It is not that sweet kind of fruity floral.

The base in the lotion seems almost the same as that in the body mist of this range, coz it feels watery and dries off immediately after applying on the skin, just like the mist. It is super super light, perfects the lightest body lotion I have ever tried. It is not hydrating enough for winters and definitely needs reapplication but it is perfect for summers or humid climate.

I am going to use this more often in summers as I prefer richer lotions for winters.

Currently both the scrub and body lotion  come with a smaller pack free which is perfect for travel. Again it is slightly on the expensive side for a body lotion, but if you prefer natural and sulphate, paraben free products, then very few brands have good options and this is definitely one of the best.

Highly recommend the face scrub and the body lotion is good for summers.
