Avene Very High Protection SPF50+ Spray Review

Avene Very High Protection SPF50+ Spray Review

Broad UVA and UVB protection

MRP: Rs.2050/- for 200ml

How to use it:

  1. 30 minutes before exposure, apply uniformly and in sufficient quantity
  2. Reapply frequently in case of prolonged exposure, and after swimming.
  3. Using this product should not encourage the user to prolong sun exposure.
  4. Avoid exposure between midday and 4pm (maximal sunshine)
  5. Avoid solar exposure for child between 0 and 3 years
  6. Use clothing protection

Ingredients:

A sunscreen in a spray bottle..I have tried the Lotus SPF50 Spray before and it was my HG. I loved it a lot..so I was expecting this to fare well too.

Coming to the packaging, I love the bright orange packaging..and the cap shuts tight..the spray is good enough..but takes a lot of sprays to cover one part of the body too.

It has a milky kind of texture and is quite runny..you cannot assume the qty you are using since they are just sprayed and you would never realise..if its the 1/4 th teaspoon rule of sunscreen for face and neck each..and 1/2 teaspoon per arm, coz you just spray and blend.

Also, it is not completely light and does give a shiny look to the face..and leaves a whitish cast too. Needs lot of powdering. I mostly use it for arms and legs..and very rarely at times for face.

The main test of it was when I went for the Beauty and The Blogger show. I was carrying this with me..and the previous day after seeing the shoot in the sun and getting burned, the next day I made sure I went to my room especially to apply sunscreen on my arms and legs. I used it all over my hands and legs, could’nt use it on the face as the makeup was done..and somehow I forgot my neck :whyy: :pullshair:

I was out in the scorching sun from 11 to 3-3.30 directly under the sun with no protection whatsoever and we were literally burning all over. My hands and legs got 2 shades darker but my neck got burnt badly and it got 4-5 shades darker! So, thankfully, even though I did not reapply and do not know if I covered each and every area well with enough sunscreen, my hands and legs were somewhat saved coz of this ! I get tanned very very easily..and I have been cursing myself a lot for forgetting my neck 🙁 Still do and would do so for months, till the tan goes away completely..looks difficult :/

Thats one spray qty

I do like the fact that is has broad UVA and UVB protection and offers SPF50+ though..not that we need it regularly..but times as such, we definitely do!

Pros:

1. Did not clog pores or sweat me out.

2. Has thermal spring water and beneficial sunscreen actives.

3. SPF50+

4. Helped my skin from getting burned or severely tanned.

5. Nice bright packaging and cap shuts tight.

6. Claims to give very high protection against the sun.

Cons:

1. Not very travel friendly..a little bulky and I do not see a smaller version of it.

2. Does give some shine..and a whitish cast.

3. Very expensive!

Overall, I would say, if you are someone who stays out in the sun for a long time and need very high protection or you get tanned easily like me, this is the only savior! Definitely required for us! But if you have oily skin or do not stay out much in the sun anyways, you can do with your normal sunscreen and skip this.

It also comes in emulsion and cream form..I have not tried those. But considering the very high protection calimed and a savior against tanning, I would say try those too and go for either one whichever you are comfortable with.

MRP: Rs.1695/- for 28ml

Ok so to start with, let me tell you, I loveee serums and oils…mostly use one every night, if at all, I am not trying out an overnight cream or something. (Which is rare these days..skin on a testing spree :/)

It comes in a small pink glass bottle with a dropper. The serum is transparent and clear..it feels like a very light oil. You just need 2-3 drops, blend in your hands and lightly apply over the face and neck.

It has a sweet fragrance..I am not too fond of perfumes and fragrance in my serums and oils unless it is a natural one like lavender essential oil. If you read the ingredients list above, you see many ingredients being used just for fragrance which I think could have been avoided.

Coming to the texture of it, it is so super light..sinks in the skin under a minute. No oiliness or greasiness. And the skin feels super soft and plump the next day. Vitamin E also helps in fading your acne marks, etc. If you have dry skin or dry patches, it will help you get rid of the patches within a week. Skin feels better and better every morning with regular use.

Pros:

1. Super light in texture.

2. Sinks in the skin and no oiliness or greasiness.

3. Skin feels super soft and plump the next morning…no dry patches.

4. Has a blend of oils in ingredients like wheatgerm, sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, sesame and Vitamin E and glycerin which are all amazing for the skin.

5. You just need 2-3 drops, so 28ml would last a long time.

6. It may be slightly expensive but when compared to other serums in that category, its half their price.

Cons:

1. Glass bottle not travel friendly.

2. I would have liked it without the added fragrance ingredients.

Overall, I would say its quite nice and perfect for dry to normal skin..works for my combination skin too. Oily skin should try it in winters. I love how skin is more softer and smoother with it, the next morning..and also gets the dose of some hydrating oils in a serum form which is quite light on the skin. Recommended!

I also love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, but that it priced at Rs.2750/- for 30ml. If I have to choose one, I would go with Kiehl’s coz I like it a little bit more 😀 But I would definitely suggest trying out this Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil and if you are getting it at 20-30% off on sales, surely grab it!

Duration: 60 minutes

Know Lakme’s exclusive 3 step Moroccan Liquid Gold Ritual:

1. DETOX

Gel cleanser (Lakme Professional Cleansing Gel) followed by an enzymatic based scrub for exfoliation (They use Christine Valmy Vegetal Peel– Bromelin, Papaya, Pineapple)

• A mixture of Lactic acid (Lakme Professional- contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids) along with other actives (Christine Valmy Special Cream 11) are mixed together and applied to desquamate cells and help better penetration.

• The skin is neutralized by a skin toner. (Lakme Professional)

2. REVIVE

• Pure Argan oil (Moroccanoil) is applied to the clean skin with gentle pressure point massage for 10 minutes followed by Gold peel off masque. (Lakme Professional-Lemon, cucumber, green tea, vitamin C)

• Skin instantly feels fresh, hydrated and nourished once the masque is peeled off.

• It’s later cleansed with a toner to remove the residues of the masque.

3. RENEW

•To finish the experience, few drops of the Argan oil is applied on the skin as a moisturizer, followed by Moisture Finish Vit E Suncreen. (Lakme Sunscreen)

I had gone for trying out this facial at the Lakme Salon, Bandra..and at first I was a little skeptic of argan oil on my face..but the procedure as a whole sounded good. The girl I was attended by, explained the whole treatment to me in detail. She told me its a hydrating facial and it repairs the skin..but that does not mean people with oily skin cannot go for this facial since it helps with Grade 1 acne too…only if you have too many pimples and Grade 3 acne, they would avoid doing this facial on you.

It helps in cell regeneration, improves skin’s elasticity and healing acne scars, etc making you skin more softer, clearer and supple.

At first, the skin was cleansed followed by a enzyme based vegetal peel. Then, lactic used mixed with Special Cream 11 is applied all over as a pack..there can be mild tingling here since the lactic acid has AHA’s. Its followed by a toner and Morocaanoil..which is massaged all over the face for better penetration..the 10 minutes massage for the head, face and neck is the best part here..deeply relaxing..I did bet you would sleep!

Then, a gold peel off masque is applied till it sets dry and is peeled off..followed at the end by few drops of Moroccanoil and sunscreen (for protection since your skin is peeled coz of lactic acid and AHA’s)

I saw my skin looked fresh and hydrated and there was a glow. But, the skin looked even more better after 1-2 days. The effect stays for a week or so. Also, the dead skin cells are gone, so you get rid of the tan too. I had gone for this service before..and now I am so tanned that I need it again 😀

Before- After

I am not sure if you can see much difference in this before-after pic coz of the lighting there.

I think its totally worth a try before your special event or something..though its priced at a higher side for your normal regular monthly facial if you go for one..but worth a investment once in 5-6 months.

My only issue was they used Moroccanoil on the face..I mean I agree its pure and all,but its a hair product for a reason. I would have much preferred if they did use pure argan oil. Also, I got a small pimple after a day or two..so since the face is cleansed of dirt, etc..sometimes it first reacts and one may break out as it all comes out and up.But soon the skin settles and you would see good results.

Some precautions to be taken:

  • Do not thread or bleach 4-5 days before going for this facial and 7 days after.
  • Do not use any creams, serums, etc on your face after this facial for 7 days..just a mild face wash and sunscreen.
  • Use enough sunscreen if you going to be out in the sun, after this facial, since it involves a peel.

Ya, I guess if you follow these basic things, you are good to go. If you have tried this facial or if you try now, do let me know your comments and views below.

Have you/Will you try the new Moroccan Liquid Gold Ritual at Lakme Salon ?

Sunsilk Announces Association with 2 States

SUNSILK announces association with 2 STATES launching exclusive movie merchandize packs

Sunsilk and 2 States press conference was held at the Taj Lands End, Bandra last Friday..I could’nt make it to the event..but here is the official press release..

P.S: I love what Alia’s wearing..Is’nt that shirt dress lovely ? Goes well with the green, white, blue, yellow theme too. And those silver heels too !

The occasion was hosted to announce Sunsilk as the official hair expert partner of the movie ‘2 States’ with the launch of #Sunsilkdreamjob campaign & introduction of exclusive movie merchandize packs

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor

Sunsilk, India’s premium hair care brand announced a one-of-its kind collaboration as the partner of Nadiadwala & Dharma Production’s produced upcoming Bollywood movie‘2 States’, an Indian Romantic Drama film based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat.

The film is a story about a journey of one young couple from their college love phase to marriage, starring Arjun Kapoor as ‘Krish Malhotra’, a typical fun loving Punjabi boy and Alia Bhatt as ‘Ananya Subramaniam’, a stunningly smart yet a cultured girl from a Tamil- Brahmin family. It is a humorous take on inter community marriages in India.
The movie is in collaboration with the leading hair-care expert, Sunsilk; a brand that has always stood for a ‘now or never’ attitude. The brandhas associated with the character ‘Ananya’ within the film with perfect fit. Full of optimism and gusto, Ananya believes in facing challenges with a smile. Ready to bag her dream job as a Sunsilk brand manager in the film, she fears nothing. She mirrors a typical Sunsilk girl’s personality- a dynamic and an optimistic girl who wants to chart her own course.

The occasion witnessed the launch of a ‘2 States’–centric Sunsilk Natural Recharge TV commercial introducing the exclusive campaign. In addition, the lead pair of the movie – Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt also unveiled the contest and exclusive merchandize in front of the media.

For 20-something single girls, hair is often an emotional rollercoaster. Sunsilk understands this and provides a complete hair care solution that gives a 20 something girl the confidence to express herself. On this occasion the brand launched its new variant Sunsilk Natural Recharge association within the film along with its exclusive movie merchandize packs for an online contest ‘Sunsilk Dream Job’.

Speaking at the event, Srinandan Sundaram, General Manager- Hair care at Hindustan Unilever Ltd, said, “We are very excited to associate with 2 States, the next big blockbuster of the year. This movie is a perfect fit for us since it truly embodies what our brand stands for. It was unique for us as our partnership stands strong right from within the film’s storyline via the main female lead- Ananya. Sunsilk celebrates a 20 something girl’s confidence to express herself. Therefore tofurther engage with our consumers, we are also launching an exciting ‘Sunsilk Dream Job’ digital campaign that would run parallel to the movie. The idea is to get four regular aspiring girlsa chance to live their dream job. Actress, Stylist or VJ – whatever their dream jobs might be, Sunsilk and Ananya will work together to make it happen. We are confident that this partnership will bring more excitement for our consumers.”

Commenting on the association, Apoorva Mehta,CEO- Dharma Productions said, “Sunsilk & Dharma Productions are two huge brands that receive immense respect for their premium quality products! For a young and fresh film like 2 States, it was important for us to only partner with a brand that would perfectly fit with the young attitude and expression of the lead characters, played by Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. We couldn’t have found a better fit than Sunsilk that would reflect best with the confident and attractive personality of Ananya, the lead female character played by Alia. It also helps that hair plays a big role for us in showcasing her personality transformation from her college days to a professional! Dresses For The Mother of the Bride

Dresses For The Mother of the Bride
Guest Post
Dresses for the mother of the bride are a very important part of pulling together a wedding. While the wedding parties may be large or small, they cannot go on without the mother of the bride. The mother of the bride is the person who must look the most stately. This means that she should be in a dress that allows her to look her best without looking matronly. The best mother of the bride dresses are the dresses that allow the lady to look sleek and slim without making her look to flamboyant. Many times, this is a hard fit to make because there are not many dresses on the market that will help the mother of the bride look her best.
The bride who wants her mother to look her best at the wedding can learn more by investigating the best types of dresses for her mother to wear at the wedding. This could include long, draped dresses that are slightly fitted to shorter dresses that are not quite as fitted and everything in between. The combination of the right fit and length is what is going to the mother of the bride the best look possible when she is sitting at the wedding and all during the reception.
The best gowns for the mother of the bride also must give her a color scheme that is going to look nice with the theme for the wedding. Without this connection to the theme of the wedding, it is hard for the mother of the bride to fit in at the wedding, and it is very important for her to fit in when she is the person who is one of the most important people at the ceremony.
Also, the mother of the bride must be in a gown that allows her to look her age without making her look too old for her personal taste. The best gowns of this type are going to flatter the lady’s figure while also giving her a chance to accessorize and look amazing. Many mothers of the bride look amazing because they choose a gown that is easy to accessorize and even easier to fit into once the big day comes. These gowns are of vital importance to the lady who must look her best and support her daughter on the biggest day of her life.

Post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at JCB

Post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon
So I did play Holi and my hair was definitely affected even though I had oiled it..and even though I had played only with colors..those colors are pretty drying dude..

And I had to wash my hair thrice to remove the color..that made the hair all the more drying..as the essential oils on the scalp which moisturise the scalp are also lost with frequent washing..

I definitely needed some hair pampering..and got to try this hair ritual at the perfect time..

Jean-Claude Biguine had post Holi Biguine Kérastase Hair Rituals..its like a detox for the hair..here is the official press release:

Indulge in the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa

There’s no better day than Holi to let your hair down and indulge in some colourful revelry. So, don’t let it end on a sour note with hair woes. Post the chemicals and colours, indulge in the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa for healthier and beautiful hair.

Hair can turn brittle and extremely dry if color remains in it for a long time. The Kérastase hair treatments provide shine; they moisturize and condition the hair, and help in repairing all types of hair damages. The Kérastase Chronologiste Caviar Ritual uses mimetic caviar pearls and special creams to nourish hair and make it feel softer, stronger and more lustrous. It is an excellent choice for deep conditioning of hair and scalp. Kérastase Ultime Liquide-Gold Oil Ritual provides instant radiance and deep nourishment to all types of hair – making it intensely shiny with a weightless touch. The Monodose Ritual is an express treatment that is offered primarily with a hair-wash. A Monodose Ritual for dry hair nourishes hair and makes it soft to touch.

The Kerastase hair rituals begin at INR 1500++ up to INR 2500++. The services are available across all Jean-Claude Biguine Salons & Spas, in Mumbai and Bengaluru.

To avail of the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual, book an appointment at your nearest salon.

Our present locations: Mumbai Bandra: 022- 65222211 | Colaba: 022-22153311 | Juhu: 022-66995555 | Kemps Corner: 022-66501111 | Khar(W), Linking Road: 022 26462626 | Lower Parel: 022- 65113311 | Lokhandwala: 022 – 65653300/22| Ghatkopar : 022- 25171700  Bangalore | Phoenix Market City, Whitefield: 080-67266666 | Lavelle Road: 080 – 41514000

So I went for this hair ritual..you must have seen my pic on Instagram, if you follow me. I was assisted by Zara.

And after checking my hair, she suggested the Kérastase Chronologiste Caviar Ritual for me..as my hair was slightly dry. I also asked her the difference in three and which is meant for which type of hair, and she explained well.

Chronologiste Caviar Ritual is meant for normal to dry hair
Ultime Liquide-Gold Hair Ritual is meant for all types of hair
And there is one more..Signature Kerathermine which is meant for extremely dry hair

She explained the whole process in Chronologiste Caviar Ritual and how its not real caviar..since real caviar is super expensive and they cannot use it world wide as vegetarians and vegans would have an issue with it..so its basically artificial caviar..made up with vitamins, etc that are beneficial and hydrating for the hair..

Durations: 1.5 hrs

Price: Rs. 1500/- for Ultime Liquide-Gold Oil and Rs.2500/- for Chronologiste Caviar and Signature Kerathermine

Procedure followed:

1. My hair was checked first and after suggesting the Chronologiste Caviar Ritual, we started off with it..

2. Hair was shampooed twice with Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin 1 Shampoo..and towel dried.

3. The caviar was crushed and mixed well with the creme and applied all over the hair in sections..each strand at a time.
Artificial Caviar
Caviar and Creme
Mixed together
4. Then head and neck was massaged..and I was like sleeping on the chair..it was so super relaxing…Zara has magic in her hands !

5. Hair was given a mist (indirect steam) for 10 mins.

6. Washed hair again with plain water.

7. Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum was used generously and hair was dried giving a cold blast and once normal blow dry. (no styling)

And this is the before and after..

I am telling you this pic does not do any justice to how my hair felt..they were so super soft and smooth..I just could not stop touching my hair !

I had to go for a hair cut the next day..and since it was blow dried and styled I could not wash and judge the difference later on..I will update this post as to how long the effect lasts and till when the hair feels and looks the same :p

But from what Zara told me, if hair is taken care of with proper serums and conditioning, the effect lasts a month..and this can be done monthly..or else if very dry hair, twice a month.

At JCB, they use mostly Kérastase and L’oreal Professional..and a few Moroccanoil products..

I highly recommend trying out the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon..if your hair is normal kinds, the Ultime Liquide-Gold one would do..but its definitely to be experienced..you will love your hair !

I think its a perfect addition to must-do’s before the wedding for the brides !

Have you tried the Biguine Kérastase Hair Ritual at Jean-Claude Biguine Salon ??

P.S: Services were offered by the brand but that has not affected my opinion.

So at first I thought I have an olive shade which is marked as blue..these both read pink and blue..(Remember the goof up in Eyeconic..I got two greens instead of one grey..read HERE )

Now I got confused between the blue and green..there was no swatch for the blue one anywhere online..and this swatches a deep green..

Basically the three blue/greens in this range are one is a turquoise blue, one olive green and one this Blue which is a deep sea green..

These are eyeshadows in chubby plastic crayon form with transparent lids and matching ends to the shades..and needs to be sharpened.

Pink is a beautiful champagne pink..makes a nice easy to wear color..a great highlight, perfect for inner corners and also highlighting your cheeks.. (or as shown to us in the Lakme Absolute Illusion Masterclass, after the normal base shadow is done, this pink shade was warmed in between fingers and applied at the centre..i.e where the eyeballs are..and it gave a beautiful nice shimmery sheen) Very multi purpose !

Blue is actually a deep sea green..its quite rich and dark..and would make for perfect night time smokey eyes.

They have all the features they mentioned ! Glides effortlessly, super soft, amazing pigmentation, stays put throughout the day but needs to be blended super fast coz it sets immediately.

Here I have used Pink with subtle eyeliner..would look great with bold red lips..or any bright lip..when you do not want the eyes to be heavy..but still some sheen and shine 🙂

Pros:

1. Super soft.
2. Glides smoothly.
3. Doubles up as an eyeliner.. (though a thicker one..you can make for subtle smokey eyes by just blending the thick liner)
4. Stays put through the day.
5. Amazingly pigmented.
6. Comes in 8 shades to choose from.. Bronze and Purple are amazing too..apart from these two..and White which is a nice golden white.
7. Pink and White are multi purpose.

Cons:

1. I am not sure why this is named ‘Blue’ :/
2. These are priced a little higher. (Rimmel Scandaleyes are priced at Rs.415/- for 3.2g qty..though a few shades in Lakme are more pigmented than Rimmel)

Overall I would say, these are quite amazing…and I loved the shades they have come up with..there are subtle Pink and White..and bright Purple and Blue, and Indian wedding wear Bronze and Olive..there is one for everyone..and for all occasions..Highly recommend them..
