OOTD: White & Blue Embellished Gown

OOTD: White & Blue Embellished Gown

Hi guys,

I know I haven’t done an OOTD here since a long time, that’s coz of Instagram! Yes, I usually post my OOTD’s and outfit pics with details there, so you don’t see many OOTD’s here on the blog. If you want to see my regular OOTD’s, follow me on Instagram @bhumika_t

I did a special shoot for 3 outfits recently and hence I made sure I post it on the blog and not just Instagram.

I had this dress since quite some time now, but due to monsoons or some or the other event, I couldn’t get to shoot in this. Also since the material is raw silk, it gets crinkled super easily. This shoot was right after I had got this from ironing and still it has crinkled :/

Failed attempt at twirling

But nonetheless, it is also the material which is very comfortable and looks really nice! Love the silhouette.

I love the sleeves and the gold embellishment work on the sleeves. This dress is from a Kolkata based brand Mada Sasa. They make customized fusion wear like drapes, gowns, kurtis, tunics, etc. Also they make it in your customized sizing as per the measurements given. Check out more on www.madasasa.com or their facebook page HERE

I paired it with my nude Zara strappy heels, a cocktail ring, fusion bracelet and a gold clutch.

Dress: Mada Sasa
Heels: Zara
Ring: Eesha Zaveri
Bracelet: House of Tuhina
Earrings: Dang
Clutch: Gift from Kerastase

Lipstick: Colorbar Kiss Proof Lip Stain in Mauve Dusk over Maybelline Lip Gradation Red2
Nails: Nykaa Matte Nail Polish in Black Cherry Pie

Types of Bajubands/Armlets

Types of Bajubands/Armlets

Hi guys,

I am talking about one more piece of jewellery today i.e. bajubands or armlets. There are number of different varieties of armlets available.

You can choose to go with a heavier one or a lighter one, depending on your outfit or occasion. You get them in pearl, kundan, simple basic ones, heavy ones with latkans, etc.

I recently came across this jewellery website gold24.in and loved their bajubands collection (you can see them here https://gold24.in/products/costume-bajuband). Some of my picks:

1. This gorgeous armlet/bajuband designed exclusively by Traditsiya is everything you need to stand out in an upcoming wedding. Pair it up with a saree, anarkali or a lehenga, it will help complete the Indian look by making your arms look graceful.

2. This one is made with alloy and has 22K gold plating. The kundan, emerald and ruby are set very well together in a tear drop pattern. I like the fact that it is broad and thick for heavier arms, something for people like me. This one is not meant for skinny arms.

3. This one is heavier with ghungroo and latkans. If you are a bride to be, this is perfect for you. A blend of pearl, kundan, emerald, ruby, diamond and golden ghungroos. Again 22K gold plated.

4. A basic, simple one that would work with almost all Indian outfits and even some Indo-western fusion wear. The best thing about these adjustable ones are that one size fits all and you can also use these as a choker. Chokers are IN these days, so this works in multiple ways 😀

You can even find simple pearl string ones to just a plain kundan lining one, which can work with any outfit, and not require color coordination.

I absolutely love baju bands, they make your arms look very elegant and graceful. And all girls should have atleast 1-2 bajubands/armlets in their stash.

What do you think of baju bands? Do you like them?

Feb 2016 Zotiqq Jewellery Subscription Box Unboxing, Review

Hi guys, If you have read my January box review, you already know about Zotiqq. If not, go HERE.

MRP: Rs.1500/- per month (Buy HERE)

The Zotiqq jewellery subscription box is priced at Rs.1500/- per month but if you go for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months subscription, you get an amazing deal!

Feb box theme was ‘Aqua’ or ‘Sea Animals’, I think it is dedicated to ‘Pisces’. The box as usual comes in a deep navy blue and beige super sturdy box. You can store all your jewellery in it later too. Each item comes individually packed in plastic wrapping.

What I got:

  • A black star fish textured statement necklace
  • A bronze textured star fish ring
  • Pearl double sided strand earrings
  • A sea horse pendant long chain
  • Blue rope bracelet with an orange algae shaped hanging charm

The sea horse pendant long chain is perfect for your t shirts and sweaters. I absolutely loved the earrings, they would work with so many dresses and are super light yet chic at the same time.

The starfish ring makes quite a statement covering the entire finger beautifully, it looks like the ring is hugging your finger 😀

The mono colored black statement necklace will make a mark on a mono colored outfit i.e. all white or all green/blue. And the bracelet would work with your casual wear.

These are quite unique and interesting pieces and loved how they are combined together for the Aqua theme. I see myself wearing the ring and earrings a lot.

Definitely worth checking out the Feb Zotiqq box. I can’t wait for the March box now, looking forward to the new theme.

How To Plan Your Wedding Trousseau

How To Plan Your Wedding Trousseau

Hi guys,

Continuing the bridal posts from last month, today we are talking about wedding trousseau. How to plan it, what all to include, etc.

Trousseau mostly includes a new wardrobe, jewellery, makeup, clutches, shoes, basically everything a bride needs post wedding. Now every family has a different budget and different customs, some have a total of 11 outfits to give and some have 21 to 51 depending on the budget.

A bride should always mix and match the outfits in a trousseau, go for some anarkalis, some lehengas, sarees, kurtis and even western dresses for your honeymoon and the likes, so you have 1-2 options for every occasion post your wedding for at least a few months. But also keep your choice and lifestyle in mind, if you wear more of western wear and hardly wear any sarees, go for some basic 2-3 pieces and not more. Keep a balance and include everything but more of what you would actually need and use.

Jadtar (Kundan) Set

Coming to the outfits, what you must include is one piece of each type, like embroidery work, thread work, real silk, organza, zardozi, benarasi, gotta patti, so that from a simple occasion to a more grand occasion, you are sorted for everything. Also always have basic colors of blouses, petticoats and churidhars like gold, silver, red, green, blue, black and white so that you can mix and match.

Do not forget to include 1-2 classic pieces like silk, kanjeevaram, benarasi sarees or dresses that you can wear on any occasion and whatever the current trends, coz classic never goes out of style.

Also as already mentioned include more of western wear if that is what you are going to wear more of, anyway. New pair of denims, few tops, dresses, maxi dresses, skirts, and anything you can mix and match, a honeymoon wardrobe basically 😀

Lingerie, the most important, the right style and fit of lingerie can make or break your outfit. Invest in different types of lingerie & night wear like strapless, sports bra, lace, set of briefs and a few different styles of night wear.

Do not forget the accessories, bags and shoes. A basic gold and silver clutch for weddings, a formal bag, a casual bag and 2-3 pairs of basic shoes again including wedding wear, casual wear and a formal heels will keep you sorted. For accessories, buy only stuff that you would wear and matches your style from chunky statement pieces to delicate and dainty pieces, choose what you would actually use and relates to your style.

The most expensive part of your trousseau is the jewellery, invest in one gold and one diamond set at least but keep in mind your style when you buy it. For me personally, I like small and delicate jewellery and chose accordingly. Invest in classics that would go with your wedding wear and also evening or formal wear at the same time.

Makeup, again as I mentioned a lot of times, choose basic colors like golds, greens and browns for eye shadows or go for a palette which has all the basic shades. Or pick single eyeshadows and combine them in a magnetic palette to make your own customized palette. For lipsticks, choose a red, orange, nude, pink and you will be sorted for all outfits. But always try the shade before and pick up a tone that matches and works for your skin. Blush and highlighter are also an important part. Read my detailed post on what makeup your should include in your wedding trousseau HERE.

A cupboard to keep all the above stuff 😀 Also if you are setting up a new home, some basic home accessories can also be included. A bed spread, bed sheet and the likes would anyway be a part of trousseau. You will also be gifted dinner sets, tea sets and a lot of home accessories on your wedding, so maybe can buy those later.

Do not shop way too much and always be mindful of your budget. The key here is a balance of everything but within your budget 🙂

Zotiqq January Jewellery Subscription Box Unboxing, Review

Zotiqq January Jewellery Subscription Box Unboxing, Review

Hi guys,

I have unboxed and reviewed a lot of subscription boxes till now on the blog from makeup, beauty to food. This is the first time I am reviewing a jewellery subscription box.

Zotiqq is an online fashion & lifestyle portal where they have monthly jewellery subscription boxes and one can also buy the pieces they like individually. It is the brainchild of a fellow beauty blogger and friend Ritu Rajput, most of you must be knowing her, her blog is called ‘The Indian Beauty’

MRP: Rs.1500/- per month (Buy HERE)

The Zotiqq jewellery subscription box is priced at Rs.1500/- per month but if you have 3 months, 6 months or 12 months subscription, you get an amazing deal!

Coming to the January subscription box, it was the ‘New Year’ theme and hence had sparkly baubles. Let’s see what they are..

It comes in this royal blue and beige packaging, the box in itself is quite sturdy and nice and good to stock your jewellery or makeup. It comes nicely bubble wrapped and no jewellery was damaged. Each item is individually stored inside the box in a plastic cover, which is nice coz many a times the jewellery gets entangled within each other.

I got 5 items in this month’s box.

First two are a diamante statement neckpiece and matching set of statement earrings which can be worn together or individually.

Red tube mesh filled with rhinestones, statement neckpiece

My favourite from the lot, a statement cocktail ring.

And a pretty hand harness which will work with so many different outfits.

I like the theme based box and getting 4-5 pieces together at a price of Rs.1500/- coz individually these jewellery pieces cost a lot more. Definitely worth your money and I do recommend trying this jewellery subscription box.

I am not sure if the January box would be still available, but you can book the Feb subscription box right now 🙂

Have you tried any Jewellery Subscription Boxes before? What did you like the most?

#WeddingDiaries & My Idea of Untraditional Wedding Twists

#WeddingDiaries & My Idea of Untraditional Wedding Twists

Hi guys,

I did a video with TBZ recently as a part of #WeddingDiaries where we shot a small video talking about weddings & the untraditional bride & her untraditional wedding twists.

Let me tell you little more about the Wedding Diaries

Wedding Diaries inculcates the view of the modern bride while still keeping the rituals and traditions intact. It is about the new-age bride who likes to have fun, plan her wedding, takes major decisions of her life, is independent while still being romantic. While she stands up for her own self and rights, she is not rebellious. Lastly, a woman who loves jewellery.

Don’t we all love jewellery and relate to the modern bride described above?! While I got married last year, I definitely relate to this modern new-age bride who wants to balance both things and likes a mix of both the worlds.

Of course we all want or would have liked something untraditional or different in our weddings. For me personally, I like to keep the wedding affair private and would have loved to have spent my special day with only my close friends and family. But you know as the norm goes, the entire extended families and age-old friends and family friends are invited, some are invited just because they invited our families when their son/daughter got married.

This is something I do not really relate to, though I convinced my parents to keep it short somehow but still the number of people were not very less. While I know of friends who have had weddings which more than 1000 people attended. That gets a bit too much, the bride and the groom themselves do not know half of the people.

I recollect one such incident from my own wedding, where an uncle came and gave us a bouquet, clicked a picture with us and was congratulating and saying some random things while we both were thinking he is from the opposite side and when he went, I asked my husband who he is and he said he thought the uncle was from our side 😀 Yes, such incidents are common when the wedding involves too many people.

Also spending lakhs and lakhs and having a grand reception, etc. is also something I do not relate to and thankfully both sides of parents agreed with us on this. We went for a good, long honeymoon and we would rather spend on a nice holiday than a reception.

Some other fun, untraditional wedding takes would be like the bride coming on a ghodi and wearing a pheta or something like that 😀

The Art to Picking the Right Engagement Ring for Brides and Grooms

The Art to Picking the Right Engagement Ring for Brides and Grooms

Hi guys,

Continuing the bridal series, today we are talking about the right engagement ring for the brides an grooms. Here are a few pointers which will help you pick the right engagement ring:

Establishing the budget: Decide a budget and stick to it more or less when you go ring shopping. The jewellers will try and show you expensive ones and solitaires, if it is something that does not fit your budget, don’t even look at those!

Find the perfect size: Get your ring finger sized first and go for the closest match, but make sure it is neither too tight nor too loose. Definitely not loose, it can be slightly rolled if it is bit tighter.

Ring band: There are so many different metals used for rings these days, most common being yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, platinum, and silver. You can even go for a mix of metals.

Quality of diamonds: When choosing a diamond, you have to check the four C’s i.e. Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight. Choose a diamond keeping in mind all these four characteristics.

Shape of diamond: You can go for round, oval, pear, heart, princess, there are different shapes to choose from. Shape of the diamond matters the most, even before everything else. Princess cut is the most common and something mostly people opt for.

Setting of diamonds: That is the main part again, if you opt for one big stone, you can for solitaire or Tiffany setting. If you have smaller stones, then you can cluster a shape or even mix the smaller clusters around the main, big solitaire.

Shape of ring: Keep in mind your hand shape, length of fingers and what shape of ring would look best on your fingers, before finalizing a ring.

The same rules apply when buying diamond rings for both brides and grooms, just that the shape of the diamond is not much of a concern for the groom as mostly it is the square setting and shape.

A couple can also opt for platinum bands if they prefer or even get it personalized by engraving their initials or date or place tbey met.
