I had mentioned about the new Lakme Absolute Royal Opulence Collection by Sabyasachi HERE

Collection consists of:

Lakmé Absolute Crème Lip Colors: Get lips that go with glasses of wine, caviar and polo matches. It’s luscious creamy color with a flamboyant, glossy finish that lasts all day.

Lakmé Absolute Shine Line Eyeliners: Drama arrives just for eyes in a palette of elegant, rich colors. Created using a long lasting, water based formulation; its glamorous, finish breathes royalty all through.

Lakmé Absolute Royal Nail Colors: Indulge in lavish dual toned nail colors reminiscent of royal treasures. Emerald, purple, turquoise and teal, it’s elegance that truly befits the modern queen.

This collection was launched for Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 which just ended..I have swatches of the lipsticks and liners for you all..

Lipstick Shades: Plum Forever, Eternal Wine, Royal Rouge, Cosmo Passion, Glamour Daze, Deep Blush, Pacific Sunset

I have no idea why the names mentioned in the shade card of press note are different..or there are more shades..these were the ones in the new Royal Opulence Collection stand at the Lakme Pro Stylist Lounge..

The lipsticks are super smooth and quite good..few shades like Cosmo Passion, Glamour Daze and Pacific Sunset have shimmer..

There were three Absolute Shine Line liquid liners..in Brown Shimmer, Teal Shimmer and an interesting Pink Shimmer..there is one more beautiful Golden Shimmer..

I really liked the Brown shimmer…kinda bronzy..and pink shimmer is pink gold duochrome makes for a beautiful inner corner highlight..see this pic below..how amazingly it is used..and so is gold shimmer..

I really liked Royal Rouge and Deep Blush..and none of the shades are too bright or OTT..all are quite wearable..

Thanks to the lovely Jyo for lending me her hand for swatches as I still have mehendi on hands 😀

Which shade did you like the most ?

Makeup Master Class at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013

Makeup Master Class by Lakmé Absolute at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013

I attended the Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week today..starting with the master class first..where Natasha Nischol spoke about the new makeup trends for autumn winter and demonstrated two looks on Sarah Jane Dias..here is the official press note..

Lakmé has been a trendsetter for decades and has created several outstanding looks for Indian fashion weeks. A first edition of an interactive Master Class series was conducted by Lakmé expert Natasha Nischol, who revealed how to achieve the Lakmé Absolute Royal looks that would stun the audience at the Grand Finale of the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. Purnima Lamba – Head of Innovation, Lakmé India, introduced Natasha Nischol on stage and invited her to demonstrate the season’s beauty statement to the audience.

The first ever Lakmé makeup Master Class was initiated by Natasha at The Source, Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013, who welcomed well known actress Sarah Jane Dias as a model for the session. A short clipping of Sarah Jane Dias, Lakmé’s Digital Ambassador, presenting make-up tutorials for beauty enthusiasts was screened.

Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation, Lakmé India said, “Lakmé has always supported emerging talent through various platforms like Gen Next and Talent Box at LFW. Extending this endeavour, we are proud to start a one-of-its kind Beauty Masterclass for the budding beauty enthusiasts. With the first session by Natasha Nischol, our attempt is to sustain this as a platform from where Lakmé announces the top international beauty trends and decoding them for the Indian audience every season.”

Wearing an Aartivijay Gupta maxi dress, Sarah Jane was glad to be a part of the Master Class and said that she had a lot of fun making the makeup tutorial videos with Lakmé. She mentioned that young girls around the country always have several queries regarding makeup, which Natasha addressed today.

Natasha demonstrated two key trends for the season – Red Lips by Day Look and Red Lips by Night Look, which are Lakmé’s beauty statement for the season. She reminisced about her mother dressing up, which was the beginning of her interest in make-up. She confessed that her first eyeliner and lipstick were coincidently Lakmé products, which she uses even today.

Natasha kick started the workshop by discussing current global make-up trends such as clean matte complexion, statement metallic eyes, futuristic eyeliner, petal/berry stained lips, invisible eyeliner, statement brows, 40’s femininity, 90’s inspired grunge, rock and roll and a statement red mouth.

She then demonstrated the Red Lips by Day look where a base of Lakmé CC light cream in a beige tone was already applied to Sarah’s face prior to the show. A compact from the Absolute range was used for definition followed by invisible eyeliner which gave the illusion of full lashes and mascara for volume.

Natasha followed it by staining Sarah’s lips with light red, after blotting the lip balm that she had put initially to ensure smooth application of the lipcolour. She added a little blush to her cheeks to add a dash of colour and blended it in. A brown smoky eye shadow was applied with an infusion of green, pink and gold metallics along with a hint of eyeliner.

Natasha shared a few tips – the more shades one blends in, the longer it stays and also said that she believes in the philosophy of ‘less is more’. According to her, makeup is something to have fun with and that day-by-day Indians are getting out of their comfort zones and experimenting with more colours.

Sarah confessed that fingers are the best way to apply makeup. The Red Lips by Night look was then taken up by adding highlights to the face with another layer of mascara and further blending in the four shades of the eye colour palette. A deep ‘Milan Red’ lipstick topped off with a ‘Red shine’ gloss was applied creating instant glamour. Natasha said that one should be careful with the amount of gloss that is applied and ensure it doesn’t look over the top.

The look was finished by giving Sarah’s nails a touch of Lakmé’s ‘Scarlet red’ Gel Stylist Nail Colour.

Natasha also shared tips for people to select the perfect red according to their skin tone. Sarah Jane Dias thanked Natasha for changing the misconception that red lips are difficult to carry off. Natasha mentioned that one should look after their skin in order to bring about your best. She also shared her personal skin care regime, which consisted of Lakmé best-sellers like Lakmé Clear Pores Facewash and Scrub, Youth Infinity Serum and CC cream.

Sarah questioned Natasha on more secrets to share and she willingly informed the audience that Absolute Eye Duos eye-shadows that can be used wet and dry insures a smudge free technique and can simply be doubled up for eyeliner. The Lakmé Kajal pencil is also an excellent way to create a black smoky eye clubbed in with a tinted foundation. Sarah also spoke about her personal makeup tricks like using Absolute baked blush with lip gloss to get an excellent lip stain.

The session ended with Natasha and Sarah answering queries from the audience after which Sarah posed for photos with the audience and Natasha for a Twitter update.

I also got my hair done at the Lakme Salon at the Source..many of you must have seen the pic on my facebook page.

And checked the new Absolute Royal Opulence Collection by Sabyasachi  at the Lakme Pro Stylist Lounge and attended the Amit Aggarwal show later on..had fun with Jyo from Everything that Matters..would do an outfit post soon..and also post swatches of the new collection 🙂

Did you like the tips shared at the Master Class ? And my new hairdo ? 😉

Manish Malhotra at LFW Winter/Festive 2013

Manish Malhotra at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013

MANISH MALHOTRA THE “FASHION BADSHAH OF BOLLYWOOD COUTURE” OPENED THE LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2013 SEASON WITH A SENSATIONAL FESTIVE COLLECTION OF BREATHTAKING BEAUTY

Manish Malhotra the “Fashion Badshah of Bollywood Couture” opened the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 season with a spectacular festive/pre-bridal collection, which was a feast for the eyes.

Dozens of white and orange lanterns hung from the ceiling, which lit up when the show began. To add drama to the setting, pairs of models walked down the ramp separated by a white curtain of fabric strands. It was a time to celebrate with lights, cameras and action.

Highlighting the festivities of India, Manish’s collection called “Reflections” was a stunning offering, which had gorgeous synergy with Indian traditions, cultures, rituals and vibrant colour spectrum for the fusion line.

The fabulous hues of Rajasthan and Kutch came alive on the runway as models swirled around wearing creations in rainbow tones of deep green, dark beige, tan, burgundy, shocking pink, red, navy, and mustard dappled with mirror work and interesting colour blocking.

Using regal textured silks embellished with thread and exclusively created zari work from Kashmir; the collection was an intense melangé of youthful vigour and timeless touches. Experimenting with silhouettes, Manish showcased the stylish ghagra-pant – a fusion of the Sharara and classic pant, which will give some strong alternatives to lehengas. Another interesting innovation was the Koti (bolero) top reinvented from the Rajasthan Koti, which can be teamed with saris or ghagras.

The fabric selection by Manish was varied with tulle, chiffon, georgette, pure/raw silk, velvet, textured fabrics mixed and matched or contrasted perfectly, to create a great fashion statement.
Opening the show a pair of sheer kurtas with mirror work on the sleeves teamed with the flared ghagra/pants, Manish revealed his control over the embellishments, which were restricted to intelligent placements. Glitter and resham work along with hints of zari created a melodious symphony of fashion. Necklines were very sexy and seductive as they plunged in the front into daring “V” or at the back, often tied with tantalizing tassels.

Appliqué was brought in tonal colours for sleeves, while the luxurious layered flared ghagra-pants had comfortable side pockets. Asymmetric covers, diagonal colour blocking for kurtas with contrast edged side slits, tulle lehenga-saris with velvet cholis, shocking pink embroidered flared pants with silk shirts or velvet blouses and the final heavily embellished Raja coats over black flared pants created a breathtaking impact on the ramp.

Men’s wear was elegant in style with colour blocking playing a major role for two-tone kurtas, some with stripes as detailing on cuffs and down the front but teamed with wide salwars, dhotis or dhoti pants. Sherwanis appeared with narrow trousers, while bundies in varied colour contrasts over kurtas were masculine in style and finish. Velvet detailing appeared at times on hemlines, yokes, shoulders and cuffs to add a touch of excitement to the predominantly ethnic line.

When it comes to a collection which offers numerous alternatives to the adventurous bride and groom who long for that unconventional look during the wedding festivities; it will have to be “Reflections” from Manish Malhotra that will make them the cynosure of all eyes.

Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Peony Goal Review, Swatches

Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Peony Goal Review, Swatches

I had mentioned about the new Lakme 9 to 5 Office Stylist Range HERE

Peony Goal is one of the lipsticks from this new range..

What the Company claims: Lakmé 9 to 5 range consists of a wide collection for daily office wear with subtle shades that require no touch-ups through the day, providing an impeccably styled look and allowing a hassle-free transition from the desk to the office party.

Combines amazing comfort with staying power that keeps you looking fresh for hours. With a long-wearing comfort technology. Offers a creamy color with Colorfix technology. Ensures 10 hours of intense crème color.

MRP: Rs.400/- for 3.6g\

Shades Available:

15 shades bifurcated into reds & browns and pinks & mauves..

I quite love the rose gold packaging..chic case with slight rounded edges..and it clasps tight..I love the names too..ending with Goal, Slip, Break, Drill, Management, Play,etc..all corporate language..

Peony Goal is a mauve pink brown with gold shimmer..an everyday shade..quite close to MLBB..it has a soft matte finish..these glide on quite smoothly..and are super soft..

As these are meant for work..this shade is perfect for work wear..plus the soft matte finish is also quite formal..it has a sweet smell which goes away in a minute or so..

This shade stays on for 3-4 hours..I am a little disappointed with the staying power..since its the 9 to 5 range and is supposed to stay longer..but the deeper shades in this range seem to stay longer and leave behind a stain..

Here is how it looks on me..

Pros:

1. Soft matte finish…quite smooth in texture.
2. Chic packaging.
3. Economical
4. 15 shades to choose from.
5. Travel friendly..it clasps tight.
6. Though its matte..its not drying or uncomfortable on lips.

Cons:

1. I prefer it sans the shimmer.
2. Expected it to stay longer.

Overall I would say I loved the finish of these and the packaging too..I like this shade but sans the shimmer..I would surely check out other shades in this range..Do recommend it..especially for work wear..I would like to check out Pink Slip or Tea Break..
