5 Make-up Must Haves For The 'Summer Goddess' Look

5 Make-up Must Haves For The ‘Summer Goddess’ Look

5 Make-up Must Haves For The ‘Summer Goddess’ Look

By Ankita

Hello everyone,

I was watching Gods of Egypt a couple of months back and it did not take me long before I got totally obsessed with Élodie Yung’s ‘Hathor’ look in the movie. Sporting slight tan-ish bronze look, she looked absolutely stunning! So, I began my own little research ‘how to get that bronze goddess glow’, but, to be frank, it was a little over the top in real life.

It wasn’t until a few days back, that I hit the gold! So here I am with 5 makeup absolutes to get the bronze gold, goddess of the sands look with affordable drugstore products.

For the convenience of my readers, I have made a few product suggestions that are quite easily available and are a perfect dupe for high-end drugstore items, with a few application tips to nail it.

Want to get that sun-kissed look without actually getting out in the sun? Stay tuned till the end 🙂

Face It!!

1. Liquid Illuminators

Liquid Illuminators are a rage this season. They give you that bronzy-under the skin glow that looks almost effortless.

Application Tip: Take a pea-sized amount on your stippling brush and stipple it all over your face with light hands.

What I recommend

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in the shade Bare Lights is perfect for this look. It imparts a decent glow to the face without going overboard.

Priced at: 995 INR

2. Flesh toned Concealer

Remember girls, the focus of this look is on bringing your natural facial highlights and features. So it is better to stay away from concealers that are way too lighter than your skin tone. The idea here is to get a flawless base.

Application Tip: Take your concealer and dot it on areas that need a bit of touch-up. Say for example, under the eyes, around the mouth and any other blemished area. Lightly dab it with your ring finger first and then blend it with a beauty blender.

What I recommend

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD is my absolute favourite when it comes to concealing. It doesn’t crease at all and blends like a dream. The brush tip applicator lets you control the amount of product coming out of the tube. Best thing, they have a shade for every skin tone, but medium beige works just fine for me.

Priced at: 535 INR

3. Highlight

Now comes the most important part of this look, ‘The Highlight’. A champagne gold colour highlighter would give you that goddess glow without making it too dramatic.

Application Tip: Take a small amount of highlighter and brush it with the lightest hands on all high points of your face including cheekbones, forehead, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, inner corners of eyes and a little on your collar bone.

What I recommend

Makeup Revolution Pro Highlighter – Illuminate has just the right amount of light reflecting particles to light up your face, never making it look like a disco ball. It has beautiful gold champagne colour and is sure to make some heads turn when you put it on.

Priced at: 725 INR

4. The eyes have it all

Application: Keep the eyes neat and clean with a rose-gold eye shadow all over the lid and a dark brown kohl on the upper lash line, lightly smudged and slightly winged to give that doe-y eyed appearance.

What I recommend

– Eye Shadow: Faces Glam on Color Perfect eye shadow Quad Captive

This palette has the four most beautiful colours with rosy gold and bronze undertones and is a must for all those looking for a subtly shimmer based eye shadow palate. The colour payoff is excellent, with least fall out.

Priced at : 599 INR

– Kohl: Lakme Eyeconic Brown Kajal

A dark brown kohl pencil would definitely compliment the entire look instead a black one. Lakme Iconic Brown Kajal glides on smoothly to give you that intense sensual gaze that is sure to steal many hearts.

Priced at: 275 INR

Now pucker up

5. Lip Gloss

Application: Nothing more sensual than a nude lip. Dab your beauty blender with a little bit of concealer/foundation on your lips and top it off with a nude pink lip gloss just on the centre of your lips.

What I recommend

Colorbar True Gloss Lip-gloss Natural Tan ( 550 INR)

This look is very much wearable and would suit almost all skin tones. As Indians, we are blessed with a beautiful yellow-olive undertone. So why not flaunt it. Try this look and do let me know your thoughts and experience.

Editor’s Note: These are the perfect products for the ‘glow’ in summers 😀 Nice compilation Ankita, welcome to NLM

Do you like the summer goddess glowy look?

Banjara’s #MeAndNature: Pure Nature Gives You Everlasting Beauty

Banjara’s #MeAndNature: Pure Nature Gives You Everlasting Beauty

Hi guys,

So today’s post is something different. I am talking about this brand called Banjara’s. I came across this video and loved the message it had.

We all know nature works the best for all kinds of remedies be it skin/hair/body, you name it and nature has it. Ayurveda has lakhs of recipes for any disease/problem a human can have. Nature can solve it all, yet we get distracted and fall for all sorts of chemical products because of marketing.

All Banjara’s products have natural ingredients in all of their products. I have tried so many different face masks from them and they feel exactly like DIY Face Masks at home. Plus they are so affordable and quick.

Banjara’s caters to the needs of the entire family, from the Brazilian Black Hair Dye for parents, to Samvridhi hair oil for our luscious, dark hair, and of course the daily essential Multani mitti + Orange face wash. The Vitamin C in Orange will brighten the skin while the multani mitti will control the excess oil. And lastly the Multani Mitti + Papaya Face Pack which again will help control excess oil and papaya helps in fading spots and scars and gives an even toned skin. All these products can be used by everyone in the family and there are so many more products by Banjara’s, it caters to every skin/hair need.

Banjara’s is associated with nature and is all natural and herbal without the unnecessary added chemicals. It is ‘beauty without any harmful effects’, which is a very important criteria especially when it comes to choosing personal care products.

As you can see in this video, Banjara’s is not only all natural, it also reflects Banjara’s love for nature. It is also reflected in the purity, quality and efficacy of all Banjara’s products. I absolutely loved the video and the ending message ‘If we take of nature’s beauty, nature will take care of us‘ which is so true! And something we all need to do in our lives each day.

Banjara’s brand is listed under PETA’s cruelty-free companies as the products are not tested on animals and Banjara’s do not use any animal ingredients in any of their products. Of course, another added advantage.

You can try these products for yourself as Banjara’s is giving out free samples. You just have to register here www.banjaras.co.in and they would be delivered to you. Isn’t that cool?!

Let me know what you think of it in the comments below 🙂

DIY Vegan Hair Mask for Soft & Healthy Hair

DIY Vegan Hair Mask for Soft & Healthy Hair

Guest Post by Louisa

We all know that eating foods which are rich in vitamins and minerals is essential to achieve healthy looking hair. But you can also give your strands a boost by applying natural fruits and oils on your hair. See how easy it is with my simple vegan hair mask.

As traditional shampoos contain harsh detergents and chemicals, I only use the best organic shampoos and conditioners to make sure I’m using gentle cleansing agents made with natural ingredients. This way I’m not undoing any of the goodness delivered by my hair mask treatment.

Avocado

Using avocado in a hair mask is a great way of infusing your hair and scalp with moisture. It has so many beneficial properties they are difficult to count, and include potassium, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

If you’ve noticed any new hair takes a long time to grow, it could be due to a nutritional deficiency. Avocado is the perfect way to nourish hair cells, strengthen roots and encourage new hair growth.

Banana

Adding banana to a hair mask is a great way to rejuvenate your hair. They are as good for your hair as they are for you to eat, and can help soften hair and protect its natural elasticity.

Bananas deliver Vitamin A, B, C, E, potassium, zinc, iron and magnesium. These nutrients can help repair and condition hair, making it softer and more manageable, as well as helping to protect from damage caused by heat styling or harsh weather.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk has excellent moisturising properties, and acts as a natural detangler. It contains healthy fats which can be beneficial for stimulating hair growth, as well as repairing hair that feels dull or damaged.

Massaging coconut milk into your scalp can help improve blood circulation and promote healthier roots. It also has natural antifungal properties which can fight Malassezia, one of the main causes of dandruff.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best multitasking hair care products around. It can help strengthen hair, condition your scalp and even stimulate new hair growth. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and lauric acid, and effectively penetrates the hair shaft to deliver these nutrients.

Applying coconut oil before exposing your hair to heat or chemical treatments can help protect it from drying out, and also acts as a natural sunscreen. It’s the perfect ingredient to use in a moisturising hair mask, and will make it easier to brush out any tangles and control frizz.

Olive Oil

Olive oil contains oleic acid, palmitic acid and squalene, which are natural emollients with softening qualities. Many products contain synthetic versions of emollients, but they aren’t as effective in penetrating the hair shaft to help retain natural moisture.

Undernourished hair can be hard to style, and often breaks when you’re trying to work through tangles. Olive oil can smooth cuticles and split ends, which helps to reduce frizz and makes hair more manageable.

Ingredients

– 1/2 Avocado

– 1/2 Banana

– 50 ml Coconut Milk

– 2 tbsp Coconut Oil

– 1 tbsp Olive Oil

Method

Blend all the ingredients together until you have a very smooth mixture. This will make it easier to spread throughout your hair, and won’t leave any annoying clumps behind when you wash it out later.

Apply the mixture all over your hair and scalp, making sure your skin is saturated so it can benefit from all the essential nutrients. As the ends of your hair are driest, you can start at the tips and work your way up.

Leave the hair mask on for 15 to 20 minutes. You can put a towel over your shoulders to avoid getting messy, and then use a shower cap to avoid any dripping.

Wash your hair with a natural shampoo, making sure you thoroughly rinse out the mixture. It’s best to use lukewarm water to protect your skin’s natural oils, and seal in its moisture.

You can use your usual conditioner as well, and your strands should feel soft and easy to detangle. By infusing it with protein, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, you should have noticeably healthier looking hair.

Best Off Screen Looks of Shraddha Kapoor

Best Off Screen Looks of Shraddha Kapoor

By Nidhal

Sometimes, miracles happen overnight. It required just one film to catapult Shraddha Kapoor to the status of an overnight sensation. With forgettable box-office duds like ‘Teen Patti’ and ‘Luv Ka The End’ in the past, Aashiqui2 opposite the dashing debonairhunk- Aaditya Roy Kapoor, came as a much-needed kiss of life to Shraddha. A few years down the line and the perky Marathi mulgi (as she considers herself more a Marathi than a Punjabi) is riding hide on the success of a number of her flicks. It’s hard to turn a blind eye to her effervescence, charm, vivaciousness and girl-next- door avatars. Let us feast our eyes to the Best off-screen looks of this pert actress then, shall we? 🙂

1. DURING ABCD2 PROMOTIONS – Tanya Ghavri has styled Shraddha for her ABCD 2 promo tour and looks like she took her task with utmost seriousness. Pairing a Hemant & Nandita creation with Zara flats, Shraddha looked her usual chirpy self. And not to forget her tousled brown locks look drool- worthy.

2. ALL SUITED UP- The ebullient Shraddha Kapoor’s feminine spin on the power suit is simply put-Style goals. The colour with zero accessories and nude makeup makes this look an out-and- out hit.

3. DURING THE HAIDER PROMOTIONS- And here comes the girl who no guy would think twice before popping the question. Carrying this beige look with sheer aplomb, Shraddha rocks in a soft, feminine dress and rounds it off with wavy hair.

4. UNLEASHING THE TOMBOY WITHIN- The livewire Shraddha, for the promotion of ABCD 2 attended an episode of the dance reality show- DID Super Moms with her ABCD2 co-star Varun Dhawan in a Gas grey denims and jacket with a white Zara graphic tee. Opting for a casual look, she completed her look by keeping her hair in a sleek ponytail, bracelets and a pair of gold Adidas sneakers. Talk of going funky and miss out Shraddha? Naah, that is just not happening anytime soon.

5. GOING BOHO CHIC- Going boho chic, Shraddha opts for a causal look in an Urvashi Kaur outfit. She completes it with a pink top and gypsy pants with a statement neckpiece by Blur designs, Gucci sandals and a quirky ombre hairdo. Certainly, my top pick out of all her looks.

6. FOR BAAGHI PROMOTONS- Sparkling in a Prabal Gurung black and blue blocked dress during the promotional tour of Baaghi, Shraddha kept her look minimal. She opted for side swept locks and black ankle strap sandals which rounded off her look.

7. UNLEASHING THE FEMININE SIDE- Swaddled in in DvF and Zara for the promotions of Haider on India’s Raw Star, Shraddha looked effortlessly stylish and chic. Not going overboard in styling is her USP. Have a look at her feline eyes and you’ll be transfixed.

Editor’s Note: All her outfits are so pretty and feminine, can relate to her style. Loved the 1st and 3rd dress.

Which is your favourite look?

IngredientSpy.com: Check and Analyze the Ingredients before Buying

IngredientSpy.com: Check and Analyze the Ingredients before Buying

Hi guys,

With the option of 100’s of products available these days for each skincare product, we often get confused and sometimes end up buying things that may not necessarily be suitable for our skin.

I came across this website called Ingredientspy.com. It’s goal is to help women easily figure out what’s actually inside cosmetics, before they buy them. I think this is a very good idea and super helpful for us who would really want to know what are the ingredients in the products we are putting on our skin and body.

One can analyze the ingredients of any product by pasting the list of ingredients or uploading a clear picture of the ingredients. Or one can just explore different ingredients as to which ingredient helps in what.

Also if you have a specific skin type or concern and looking at specific ingredient in your skincare, you can find products based on the ingredient. This I feel is the most helpful feature. For e.g., if you have acne prone skin and looking for something with salicylic acid, you can find that and if you have dry skin, something with hyaluronic acid, and so on and so forth..

The idea behind the website is to build a piece of software which can recognize ingredients and show visitors whether a product is worth trying or not. The data which feeds into the system comes mostly from the National Institute of Health website.

All products on the site are compared using their ingredients. Each ingredient displays a short explanation and is categorized based on its properties. Some properties include anti-aging, moisturizing, healing, etc. Ingredients are also marked as being great, good or unfavorable – great being a perfect fit for the specific type of products it’s used in, good being good in general and unfavorable signifying known (documented) unwanted side effects. When all this is taken into account, a numeric score is derived and stored as the ingredient rating of each product on the site.

The website has a database of a couple hundred products separated into categories. If you’re looking for an anti-aging cream it’s pretty easy to compare the ones on the site and see which ones have the ingredients you want most.

The site also offers an Ingredient Analyzer which makes it easy for visitors to paste a list of ingredients or upload a clear photo of the ingredients on the product’s packaging, which the site will transform into text and attempt to read through. This is my favourite feature, you can just click a picture using your phone and analyze the ingredients instantly.

I analyzed the Himalaya Herbals Orange Peel Tan Removal Face Pack and here are the results..

New products are added a couple times per week. I hope they soon cover most of the brands and products. This website is really helpful and if you are someone who would like to be aware of what you are putting on your skin, this will be of great help! Definitely recommend checking Ingredientspy.com

Best Exercises To Get Rid of Love Handles/Muffin Tops

Best Exercises To Get Rid of Love Handles/Muffin Tops

By Nidhal

Flaunting a flat and chiseled tummy not only looks winsome but also manifests one’s dedication, assiduousness and attention towards one’s health. And it is tacit that such a frame complements almost all types of apparel be it ethnic or Western. However, thanks to our fast-paced lives, we cross paths with insalubrious food items, commonly known as junk food, and ingestion of which leaves us with myriad health woes.

Love handles/muffin tops are excess abdominal fat that accumulate near the waist and without any iota of doubt look unprepossessing but wait, do not fret. There are easy ways which help you get rid of them. So, jot down these points and bid farewell to those pesky love handles that are holding you back from flaunting a figure-hugging outfit!

1. KNEE DROP EXERCISE- Lie flat on the ground, abs pulled in tight to your spine, back flat on the floor. Lift legs off the floor and into a table-top position. Squeeze a ball between your legs, engaging the inner thigh muscles and lower abs the entire time. Drop your knees over to the right. Continue for 15 minutes in a set.

2. BICYCLE CRUNCH EXERCISE- Bicycle crunches utilize all of your major abdominal muscles more than any other ab exercise. This all-inclusive exercise helps tone up one’s belly and love handle areas. To do a bicycle crunch, lie on the floor and clasp your hands behind your head. Slightly raise your legs a few inches off the floor. Bend your knees at a 45-degree angle. Direct your legs in a bicycle motion while bringing your left elbow to right knee, then right elbow to left knee.

3. RUSSIAN TWIST EXERCISE- Sit on your bottom with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. You should be leaning back at 45 degrees angle. You can hold a weight in your hands, or you can choose not to. That is your discretion. You have legroom to do so! Lift your feet off the ground and cross them at the ankles. Twist to the right and touch the ground next to your hip with the weight or your hand. Twist back to the left and do the same.

4. BURPEES- Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, squat down putting your weight in your butt and reach your hands towards the floor. Jump with your legs and extend your feet to one side, land with both feet while keeping your core tight and one leg stacked on top of the other, jump back to centre, and then jump straight up bringing your hands overhead. With this exercise, kiss goodbye to those pesky and abashing love handles in no time.

5. THE SUPERMAN EXERCISE- The most frolicsome of all exercise- the superman exercise helps you unleash the superman (or should I say superwomen?) in you. How? All you need to do is stretch yourself on the ground by keeping your hands and legs straight. You need to lift your chest and thighs of the ground at the same time by balancing yourself on your stomach. Maintain the posture for 30 seconds and relax. That’s one rep! And you have aced it.

6. SKIPPING- Not only does skipping improves one’s agility, but also it kicks excess fat off one’s body. All you need to do is invest in a skipping rope and get started. There’s no ‘tutorial’ per se on how to skip. The key is to keep an eye on the rope and jump as it approaches your feet. 20 jumps for a beginner is fine starting point. So, go and grab a skipping rope.

7. LUNGES- Lunges not only tone and strengthen legs, but also develop muscles of the abdomen. Stand straight with your right leg placed forward. Now, bend both the knees to lower your body to a lunge pose. It is as cushy as that! Incorporate it in your daily fitness regimen and you’ll have not only toned legs to flaunt but also zero love handles.

Editor’s Note: I think we all need this 😀 Thanks for this post Nidhal

Forevermark Diamond Masterclass – All About Diamonds

Forevermark Diamond Masterclass – All About Diamonds

Hi guys,

I attended the Forevermark Diamond Masterclass the other day. It was so informative, I came to know quite a lot of things about diamonds in general and Forevermark in particular.

Did you know?

  • The Greeks believed diamonds were tears of God
  • Some diamonds are 3000 million years old!
  • Diamonds are found 90-240 miles below the earth
  • Not all diamonds are meant for jewellery, they are also used in industries. For e.g. the airplane window corners have diamond powder.
  • Diamonds are at a pressure equivalent to putting the point of the Eiffel Tower upside down on your hand.
  • Every diamond in the world ever cut and polished would fit in a London double decker bus with room to spare

Diamonds being so rare, it goes through further quality checks and rigorous processes to be qualified as a Forevermark diamond.

First piloted in Hong Kong in 2004, Forevermark was launched as a wholly-owned subsidiary by The De Beers Group of Companies in 2008, leveraging over 125 years of diamond expertise.

Each Forevermark diamond undergoes a journey of rigorous selection. Less than one per cent of the world’s diamonds are worthy of the Forevermark inscriptionThe unique inscription is an assurance that every Forevermark diamond is beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced. The miniscule inscription found on Forevermark diamonds is only 1/5000th of a human hair. It can only be seen using a special Forevermark viewer available at Authorised Forevermark Jewellers.

Forevermark is distributed in more than 1,700 doors worldwide and continues to grow with the addition of new licensee markets and the expansion across existing core markets.

Selection process

Rough diamonds that have large inclusions are rejected as there must be no significant inclusions that may affect refraction of light. Those with a cloudy, milky or hazy appearance are also rejected as the diamond’s brilliance is diminished. Some other features can only be seen once the diamond has been cut and polished. Those with a muddy appearance, internal graining and fluorescence are rejected as they all impact on the diamond’s beauty.

Quality of the polish

Forevermark rejects diamonds that have been forced on the polishing wheel against their natural direction. It will burn the diamond, affecting its transparency and ability to reflect light.

Durability

Diamonds that have been cut with a thin girdle, shallow crown, or steep pavilion are rejected as it makes the diamonds vulnerable to abrasions, chipping and breakage. Diamonds with a girdle too thick are rejected as they carry too much weight, affecting its proportions and diminishing its beauty.

Exceptional Rarity

Forevermark are the world’s most carefully selected diamonds. Only truly beautiful diamonds are eligible to be inscribed with the Forevermark unique inscription. Less than 1% of the world’s diamond are worthy of the Forevermark inscription.

Forevermark Diamond Grading Report

Authorised Forevermark Jewellers are able to supply a Forevermark Diamond Grading Report to their customers which provides an accurate blueprint of the qualities – cut, colour, clarity and caratage of each Forevermark diamond.

In the presentation, I learned how diamonds are cut manually with diamond powder and diamond polish and every smallest cut is to be done with precision as the diamonds keep rotating on a wheel. All Forevermark diamonds are transparent without any inclusions and the colours range only from D-L.

In terms of shapes and sizes, all Forevermark diamonds will have a clear table for the inscription and hence a ball, drop and rose shape can never be a Forevermark diamond.

10 carat Diamond

We also saw a 10 carat diamond and how it reflected light! It was the most beautiful diamond I had ever seen!

The display of Forevermark diamond jewellery was mesmerizing. I also tried a pair of earrings and a beautiful cocktail ring.

I am so glad to have attended his masterclass and learnt a lot of new things about diamonds! I hope you learnt some things too, if you guys have any doubts related to diamonds, comment here or mail me and I will try to get it resolved 🙂

I hope you liked the post.
