Who Wore What- IIFA Awards 2014

Who Wore What- IIFA Awards 2014 and the Green Carpet

So after the press conference, promotions and pre- events which I covered HERE, lets move on to the main awards IIFA 2014.

My hits and misses..

1. Jahnvi Kapoor in D & G

Jahnvi chose a Dolce & Gabbana full skirted dress and strappy sandals..with a soft, messy updo. Cute, I did say.

2. Parineeti Chopra in Nikhil Thampi

Pari chose this one shoulder peach Nikhil Thampi gown..the color is good..but is it not a little too simple ? I did not like the Rahul Mishra one sheer skirt though..did not flatter her figure..this is atleast better.

3. Kalki in Gaurav Gupta

Kalki in a grey Gaurav Gupta gown with silver detailing all over. No, a little too much..plus the color is too dull on her.

4. Yami Gautam in Gauri and Nainika

Yami in this monochrome Gauri Nainika gown..though it screams high school..but she always looks cute !

5. Dia Mirza in Sabyasachi

Dia looked amazing in this pink and gold ombre Sabyasachi embellished gown with Amrapali jewellery..that dress is stunning !

6. Gauahar Khan in Ken Ferns

Gauahar in a red Ken Ferns gown..is it Christmas already ?! Did not like the silhouette too.

7. Kareena Kapoor in Armani

Kareena chose this black sheer panel Armani dress..a little too bold..but she pulled it off quiet well !

8. Sridevi in Oscar De La Renta

Sridevi chose this black shimmery Oscar De La Renta gown..perfect makeup, hair updo and studs..she looks ravishing !

9. Priyanka Chopra in Monique Lhuillier

PC chose this embellished nude Monique Lhuillier gown..smokey eyes and an elegant updo..she looked great.

10. Sonakshi Sinha in Amit Aggarwal

Shimmery Navy Blue Amit Aggarwal gown, Bottega Veneta clutch, soft wavy hair..Sonakshi looked quiet good.

11. Deepika Padukone in Zuhair Murad

Dippy chose a Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad red lace gown..I liked the gown..but the berry lip :/ Does not work with this at all.

12. Dia Mirza in Halston Heritage

Beautiful peachy orange pleated Halston Heritage gown, Jimmy Choo clutch and an Amrapali multi chained layered necklace..Dia looks stunning here !

12. Madhuri Dixit in Sonaakshi Raaj

Again a Sonaakshi Raaj after Bipasha in white..this time Madhuri chose a different color..and I am glad..coz that color looks amazing on her..loved it. (Both these Sonaakshi Raaj outfits are from the recent Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2014..and I had attended this show)

13. Swara Bhaskar in BCBG

Swara chose this coral BCBG illusion panel dress..I like how the illusion panel works on her..nice..

14. Kareena in Armani

Kareena chose a Giorgio Armani again..separates here..a beaded white top and velvet paneled skirt..bright orange lips completed the look.

Also there were many blacks ! Madhuri chose a black Jatin Varma and Malaika a Shivan Narresh, Bipasha a Rocky S..too many black gowns seen !

I loved Sridevi, Madhuri, Kareena, Dia and Priyanka !

So, whats your pick ? Whose outfit did you like the most ?

P.S : I do not own any images.

Madhuri Dixit’s Saris in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa

Madhuri Dixit’s Saris in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa

I am a big fan of Madhuri’s each and every look and outfit in JDJ..be it her saris, anarkalis, lehengas, perfect makeup, perfect hairstyle..and oh so awesome accessories and jewelery..every time a new episode is airing, I go WOW seeing Madhuri !

I read this article on Yahoo..and its a perfect break up of some of my favorite saris..sharing it here..

Well, this Bollywood star has now become a fashion diva as well. With a disarming charm, Madhuri’s style is now being talked about and copied by girls around the country. Madhuri has managed to add charisma and panache into traditional Indian wear, especially sarees like never before. Her every look is carefully styled and put together effortlessly. So, take a look at few of the sarees that Madhuri has worn for JDJ, as we decode them for you.

Mirror Shimmer
Madhuri rocks the mirror work in designer Arpita Mehta’s saree’s as she floors her fans with her style on JDJ. The offbeat colours and distinguishing mirror works on them makes the saree stand out.

Here is a saree that is mostly white in colour. Warm peach and apple green colours add a lot of zing to it. The fabric is tissue silk which is slightly sheer. The border is accentuated with coral lace and mirror work. Slight effects of green on the pallu, paired with matching quilted green sleeveless blouse; make the saree quite a refreshing option that can be worn during the day or evening. White and orange tassels on the pallu are an inexpensive way of making the saree a little heavier and appropriate for a bigger occasion.

Madhuri also rocks a stunning bright pink georgette saree. It has casually spread mirror work on the full saree. She has teamed it up with a rather fun and floral printed sleeveless blouse. It has gold lace and a line of blue mirror work on the border. The idea here is to choose a simple mirror work saree and combining it with an interesting blouse.

Print Parade
Prints are youthful, fun, and charming and come handy, especially when you do not wish to carry the weight of embroideries and heavy decorations.

Madhuri Dixit sports a multi-coloured saree designed by Masaba Gupta, a designer who is famous for her unique use of prints and patterns. The fabric looks like crepe silk if you observe the pleating carefully. This saree has a burst of colours. It has light grey and candy pink mixed on the lower part. Neon green and black accentuating the pallu makes the look so vibrant. A sleeveless lace blouse is added to bring back the sensuality to an otherwise fun and flirty saree. The smokey eyes just make Madhuri look ‘perfect’!

This designer Sabyasachi saree has polka dotted print on the ivory base. It is a georgette saree. There is an interesting pop of pink in the pleats, slight black net detailing, and mint coloured border. She is wearing a plain raw silk blouse.

Make your look even more retro by going in for polka dots in even brighter colours like turmeric yellow and tomato red. Here is Madhuri in a saree by designer Nikasha. Notice the gold border and beautiful tassels finishing out the look perfectly. This sort of a look can work amazingly well for cocktail dinners or even pre-wedding functions of your friends and family.

Net Factor
Older women tend to move away from sheer fabrics, but Madhuri bends the rule. She looks classy and chic even when she chooses a net saree.

The sheer midnight blue saree is a visual delight. Madhuri teams it up with a golden and pink sleeveless blouse. It matches the subtle gold thread work on the saree.

A more serious look comes about in a gold sheer saree (designed by Tarun Tahiliani), with a maroon velvet blouse. The blouse and the saree are adorned with Swarovski that are lightweight and glittery at the same time. After seeing a string of sleeveless blouses, a velvet blouse with fluffed sleeves is a welcomed change. The choice of colours and exquisite work makes the saree quite a hit for all brides-to-be to have in their trousseau.

Which sari did you like the most ? I love all..though the first two and polka dots Sabyasachi ones are my favorites..
