Recently I got a chance to try out MyGlamm services and I haven’t been to a salon for any services in like ages, so I was like why not. The best part is, it is all in the comfort of your home!
I actually wanted to try a facial and I selected the Forest Essentials Facial, but later on I was informed that they don’t have the Forest Essentials facial yet and it will take 10-15 days for that. They offered me the O3+ facial but for my skin type, they suggested the Whitening Facial and I am not into whitening,so was not keen on that.
I went with a basic O3+ clean up and Spa Manicure/Pedicure. All you need to do is select the service and fix your timing and location. They call to confirm your appointment. I was told on call that the clean up and manicure would be done by the lady and the pedicure would be done by the guy, at 4 pm and 5 pm respectively.
MyGlamm is based at Lower Parel, so the artists were coming all the way from there. The lady arrived 15 minutes late and she apologized for that and it was ok since it was raining a lot that day.
She set up everything first and then started with the clean up. I saw the O3+ products used and again it was all the whitening range being used in the clean up too, the very same reason I did not go for the O3+ facial. This was only mentioned as clean up and I had not idea that it involved whitening products :/
She started with cleansing, followed with applying a microdermabrasion peel and massaged it for some time. It was followed by a steam and extracting the blackheads/whiteheads, followed by a tonic/toner. She then massaged the face, neck and shoulders with the massage cream for about 7-8 minutes and a face mask was applied at the end.
The guy had already arrived at my place while the clean up was going on, and they started with my mani-pedi while I had the mask on my face.
I really liked the manicure/pedicure too, as it was quite detailed and nicely done. Everything from scrubbing to get rid of dead skin, cuticle cream, massage cream to foot scrub and foot mask was taken care of. I liked the fact that they had individual packs for every cream and both had a separate kit. The entire mani/pedi kit was also well arranged.
She was carrying her threading kit too and asked me if I would like to get my eyebrows done, so I thought let me just get my extra hair removed. So she did my eyebrows and upper lip too. Only thing is I got a red bump on my forehead which did not subside for 2 days :/
I was happy with the clean up and mani-pedi and could see visible results and difference. My hands and feet were quite soft and well moisturised with no trace of dead or dry skin at all.
The process of clean up and mani-pedi took a little more than 3 hours which was unexpected. I thought it would be maximum done in 2 hours.
Some things I liked:
- The entire idea of getting the services done in the comfort of your home is quite nice, and saves a lot of time and energy.
- Easy to book an appointment
- The services were nicely done and I could see visible results.
- The products used are of a very good quality.
- Artists are well trained to ask if a customer is comfortable and how to go about things.
Some things I thought could have been better:
- They informed me that a guy would be coming for pedicure, I believe they should have asked me if I am comfortable with a guy and should have given me an option. I would have not had a problem before, but now since I live alone, I was not the most comfortable.
- While the lady was 15 minutes late, the guy was 15 minutes early and I was not comfortable with the idea of me being in a disposable gown inside my bedroom and an unknown guy at my place in the other room. I think he could have called before coming and accordingly come a bit later.
- I had a fresh shoe bite and despite telling him 3-4 times, he was always touching at the same place which was quite painful.
- If an estimate of time could have been given beforehand, coz 3 hours 15 minutes was a long time.
- The water in the pedicure tub took a long time to heat up
- He forgot the base coat on the toe nails.
Overall, I am quite happy with this initiative, and when MyGlamm would be available on app, it would be even more convenient. There one gets to see every artist, their experience, availability and book accordingly.
Here is the current MyGlamm services rate card:
They are priced a little more than the normal parlors, almost equal to Lakme or Enrich chain of salons. But you get to do it at your time and place.
Update: 07/02/2017- My recent experience has not been good. I am trying from the past one month to book a mani-pedi and all their spa artists are unavailable! No point of offering services if artists are not available. If you get an appointment, you may try their services or else just leave and try some other services as I would not advise waiting 1-2 months!
Have you tried any at-home salon services like this? What do you think of MyGlamm?
P.S: Services were offered by the brand but that has not affected my review.
