Red Carpet Tips and Tricks

Red Carpet Tips and Tricks

Namrata Soni has a reputation for transforming A-list actors into red carpet stunners. Her signature look of fresh dewy skin and pretty pink pouts has earned her many fans in the tinsel town including the likes of Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Sharma and even an IIFA award. She shares her top five tips and tricks to rock a red carpet appearance like a Bollywood pro.

Red Pout: “Nothing is more red carpet appropriate than a red pout,” says Soni. “Choose a red lipstick that suits your skin tone and fill in only after defining your lips with a red liner. Thin lips need not worry. Create an illusion of fuller lips with some high shine gloss. Swipe two coats in the center of the bottom and the upper lip for a bee-stung effect.”

Camera-ready: “Strategic placement of highlighter is very important when you know that camera flash will be attacking you from every angle. Dust an iridescent gold or pearl coloured highlighter on your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and on the chin to capture light perfectly and use your facial contours to full advantage. For an all-over gorgeous sheen, add powder bronzer to baby oil and smooth over exposed skin.

Flawless Face: “Flash can be very unforgiving and the biggest mistake you can commit is skipping the foundation altogether and applying only concealer on your problem spots. Foundation is important even if you have great skin and few minor flaws. It creates an even base for you to work on and camouflage flaws to perfection.”

Fake Drama: “False eyelashes create drama and are a must for any red carpet look. Whether you’re rocking a red lip or a bright pop pout, false lashes is all you need to add oomph and balance your look. Cut and customize false lashes to your lash line and don’t forget to apply liner to fill in any gaps and blend the real and false lashes seamlessly. Apply two coats of volumising mascara and you’re ready to flutter your eyes for the shutterbugs.”

So Slick: “If you don’t have enough time for a wash and blow-dry, use this secret tip that I swear by to transform a bad hair day into glamorously, swishy locks. Smooth over some MorocccanOil for shine and tame flyways and pull hair into a side ponytail or a low, tight knot. These sleek and sophisticated hairstyles make any outfit look put together and takes my celebrity clients from a shoot to stardom in no time.”

So were these tips helpful ? I love and religiously follow using highlighters and gloss at the centre..

When it comes to makeup, natural is always beautiful – but so is a bit of color on the face. Fortunately spring summer 2013 will offer both the options. Brilliant shades of blue on eyes, Slicked vivid crimson hues, emphasized neutral lips and a glowing skin are the trends to look at in the coming season.

Strong and bold brows are yet another look back in fashion. Fill using a dark brown pencil or eye shadow to create a bold statement. After very long, sparkle catches the limelight. Apply just a hint of shimmer or glitter on the eyelids, but make sure you don’t over-do it. The “Smokey Eye” in dark black is officially over. The new trend is to use eye shadows in gray or dark brown tones to create a softer look.

The season is all about clean and glowing skin. Apply a light peachy base and avoid a blush. Try Oriflame Very Me Peach Me Perfect Skin Glow, a tinted gel moisturiser with a lightweight finish that gives a peachy, natural glow and brings out the best in your complexion. One can also go for a light bronzer on cheeks like Oriflame Giordani Gold Bronzing Pearls in Natural Peach and save the bright colors on eyes and lips. Lips accentuated with matte red or crimson are very in. For a more vintage look, one can also use deep Bordeaux lip colours. These bright lips scream drama and balance out more neutral looking skin. The look is sexy and easy to achieve.

Thick or thin, black eyeliner is a staple in every girl’s makeup bag. This season, thin eyeliner, drawn close to lashes and following the natural line of the eye, is used to achieve a demure eye. Heavier graphic lines make for a more extreme and dramatic look. One can create both these look by using Oriflame Beauty Wonder Liner. Its multi-dimensional precision applicator provides both thin and thick lines. Striking contrast with jet black liner can be achieved by swiping on a platinum shadow over the lids. This also gives us inspiration for how to use a few simple strokes and dress up a look to go from day to night.

High pony tails and big open curls with a glossy texture can be extensively seen on the runways. To master this look, blow-dry hair straight, create a clean center or side parting if wanted, and secure hair into a firm ponytail close to the top of the head. Spritz with Oriflame HairX Styling Gloss Booster Spray to add instant shine. For an unconventional look, you can even wrap the ponytail into any number of looks – a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot.
