L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Review, Swatches

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

So L’Oreal Paris had launched these eyeliners as a part of their Cannes Collection, I had reviewed the Infallible Le Mega lip glosses earlier HERE. I took time to review these coz I was in two minds about these. Read on to know my thoughts..

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Review, Swatches, Indian Makeup Blog

Claims: Indulge your eyes in silk with Silkissimeby Infallible. Glide on smooth intensity with our first silk inspired liquid pencil. The smudge-proof formula lasts for up to 16-hours of intense color from dusk until dawn. Gives a delicate, silky shiny look with ultimate perfection in a single stroke. Available in 8 vibrant shades.

How to use: Apply along the top and bottom lash line beginning in the inner corner of the eye and working outward. Use a sharpener to sharpen the pencil gently and create a working tip.

MRP: Rs.575/- for 1.10g (Buy HERE)

Ingredients:

Shades Available:

  • Black
  • Charcoal
  • Pure Purple
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Cobalt Blue
  • True Teal
  • Plum

I have the shades Plum, Purple, Gold and Silver. They come in a pencil form which needs to be sharpened. And that is a major problem, I will tell you why.

They have a transparent cap and matching shade color outer body, so it’s easy to find the shade you need. The texture is more creamy than butter, it is like melted butter. It glides on super smooth but that is the problem, it breaks every time I try to use it.

It goes on smooth on the waterline but it is difficult to use on the upper lashline coz it gets blunt and breaks every time. And when you try to sharpen these, they melt and keep on breaking. The product is like gel liner in pencil form, I have to use it with an eyeliner brush, rubbing the bristles each time on the pencil. It gets a little difficult and time consuming.

Once applied, it stays put through the day. These are very pigmented and long staying. But the product can hardly be used a few times as 50% goes waste in sharpening and you never get a sharp tip for using it on upper lashline.

I would say these are good for waterline. They also make a perfect base for eyeshadows. I like the gel formula but I would have appreciated gel liners in these shades. The quantity of 1.10g is less for the price and half of it goes waste.

Left-Right: Plum, Pure Purple, Gold, Silver

Either the product inside should have been a little more stiff and sturdy or it should have come with it’s own special sharpener that did not waste the product. It does mention in ‘How to use’, to sharpen with L’Oreal Paris Dual Sharpener, but I haven’t seen it anywhere, I am not sure if it’s available separately. It should have come along with the pencil.

As much as I love the shades and formula, I am not happy with these pencils and I do not reach for them often, coz it burns my heart to see so much wastage :/ I saw the exact same issue with the pencils in US coz all the reviews on Amazon. com also mentioned the same thing. It’s an universal formula with these pencils.

I would not recommend these, unless you are ok with using these only for waterline and lower lashline or as an eyeshadow base. You will not get a crisp or sharp line on upper lashline with these unless you use a brush.

I love the shades though, all four are fabulous, especially the Pure Purple.

What do you think of the new L’Oreal Paris Silkissime Eyeliners?

Best Off Screen Looks of Sonam Kapoor

Best Off Screen Looks of Sonam Kapoor

By Nidhal

In the rule book of fashion, if there is one person whose name will be etched in golden alphabets, it will be without any iota of doubt, Sonam Kapoor. Since the day she stepped into B-wood, while many have questioned her acting and PR skills, no one can turn a blind eye to her impeccable sense of style and fashion. She is one sure-shot head-turner 🙂

Be it her casual looks, red carpet appearances, ethnic ensemble or ramp apparel, she keeps one bewitched. A personal favourite of the fashion police, let us have a look at the top 5 off-screen avatars of Sonam Kapoor when she left us gasping for more

1. ON THE STREETS OF MELBOURNE- Strolling the captivating streets of Melbourne and later attending a press conference with her father Anil Kapoor in absolute style, Sonam opted for a black LBD that not only looks casual but also professional. Unique, right? With her luscious brown locks loose and radiant skin, she surely set a lot of hearts fluttering.

2. DAY 2 OF CANNES 2013 – Sashaying down the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival 2013 on Day 2 in a custom made floral Dolce and Gabbana gown at the Jeune et Jolie premiere, Sonam raised the glam quotient of the event without going overboard thanks to her minimal makeup and accessories. The dress has a corset bodice with a voluminous skirt. And the print looks feminine, chic and quirky. It goes without saying that Sonam looked effortlessly drop-dead gorgeous.

3. AIRPORT LOOK- In one word, Sonam looks exquisite. Swaddled in a nude dress and black coat, with poker straight hair, nerdy glasses and black boots, she looks dressed like a French lady. Fashionable but not trying too hard to cast an impression- well, these things surely come naturally to this leggy lass.

4. PRDP PROMOTIONS DESI STYLE- In keeping with the underlying theme of Director Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Sonam opted for ethnic attire for the promotions of the film. See here is Sonam swaddled in an ethnic attire by Radha Vakil and jewellery by Sunita Kapoor.

5. IIJW 2015 RAMP – With a flair to pull off most attires in the most flattering way, Sonam Kapoor defined regal as she wore an ornate Shyamal and Bhumika lehenga at the IIJW 2015 show for Birdhichand jewellers. And the dupatta that trailed behind her as she sashayed down the ramp, added all the drama a showstopper’s outfit can ask for

6. AT KHOOBSURAT’S TRAILER LAUNCH- Her attire (and co-star) is exactly what the movie’s title is –Khoobsurat 🙂 Opting for a black and white monochrome printed Toni Maticevski at the trailer launch of Khoobsurat, Sonam looked drop-dead gorgeous.

7. IN AN ABU-JANI SANDEEP KHOSLA SAREE- Resplendent – in one word, Sonam’s look during the promotions of Neerja when she swaddled herself in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree was magnificent. In fact, everything about this look is on point be it her hair style, makeup or choice of accessories. That’s how you style a saree.

Editor’s Note: She always looks amazing, one person whose wardrobe any girl would want to steal 😀 I loved all the looks

Studiowest Maaya Crystal Eyeshadow Trio Goldmine Review, Swatches

Studiowest Maaya Crystal Eyeshadow Trio Goldmine Review, Swatches

By Devika

Hola loves!

We all love buying makeup, don’t we? Even those “random” visits and strolls through makeup boutique and counter aisles end up with us eventually buying the stuff we fancy lying at the counters! We can’t help 😀

During such one random visit to Westside I discovered that they actually have a huge makeup and skincare studio, STUDIOWEST. I drove straight into it and the product that fascinated me the most was their eye shadow trio as I was on a hunt to get travel friendly palette to carry along for weddings!

They actually have their range sorted into two lines: (Read more HERE)

The Pure Passion line which is a more wearable, lightweight ranging from nudes to pinks for the woman at work

The Maaya line which is more edgy, has shimmery and bold dazzling shades for festivities, weddings and women who want to look more glamorous.

They have a great range of colors which are designed specifically to flatter the Indian skin tones.

Pure passion has daytime neutrals and black Smokey eye shadow trio. While Maaya has stark shades in Bombay jewels and goldmine trio.

I chose the goldmine for its vibrant color combination. It’s a mix of plum, gold and brown. I tried it at the counter and gosh it blew me off with the pigmentation. I had to pick it up!

So let’s get into reviewing the STUDIOWEST MAAYA CRYSTAL EYESHADOW IN M03 GOLDMINE

PRODUCT CLAIMS: “Hi intensity color, for dramatic eyes. Blends effortlessly to create a complete look”

PRICE: INR 425 for 4.2 g

SHELF LIFE Is approx. 2 years

TO USE: “Combine three shades to experiment with your look! Using the applicator, apply the dark shade to line the eyelid. Next, blend in the medium shade along the crease & highlight under the eyebrow for a stunning result”

AVAILABILITY: The Studio West range is available across most Westside stores in India and is an awesome stop for high quality, reasonable products. How I wish it could be available online too!

MY EXPERIENCE

PACKAGING

Studio West Maaya crystal eye shadow comes enclosed in a black paper box with small cutout window which shows off the product. Inside is a compact plastic case with no mirror attached. Well that doesn’t bother me at least. It has a transparent lid making it easier to see through the shades.

The details are written on the base. Inside the case rests three eye shadow colors in square cases. The double sided sponge applicator it comes with, is of no use and I use my own set of brushes to apply the shadows.

The packaging is simple, nothing fancy or great but not cheap looking either. It is breakable and not sturdy so one needs to be careful while handling it or while travelling.

TEXTURE

The texture is to die for!! Truly speaking I didn’t expect this kind of texture from this palette, since most drugstore brands have those powdery finish with loads of fallout. All three eye shadows are so creamy and satin soft and glide on like a dream!! Application and blending is super easy and seamless. The shimmer present in the formula is very subtle, not like big crystals but are finely milled and I didn’t observe any fall out during application, however I always prefer doing my eye makeup first and base later.

PIGMENTATION

This Goldmine trio is a beautiful palette containing great festive shades: a plum, antique gold and a copper brown. Great color selection and would suit most of our heavy attires.

I can’t really stress enough on how pigmented these eye shadows are. Just have a look at the swatches and this is without a primer (just swatched once). All the three shades are super pigmented and have a reflective, subtle shimmery finish which doesn’t look over the top. The colors blend well without a hassle.

SHADES

The color pay off in a single swipe is exceptional (see swatches). The first shade from the left is so unique. It is a plumy-burgundy shade and looks gorgeous. The middle one is shimmery golden with warm bronze undertone to it. The third one is a gorgeous copper-brown shade. Perfect blend for Indian skin tone.

STAYING POWER

They stayed quite well on my eyes for over 6 hours without any creasing or fading that too without a primer (do prime in case you have oily lids). However with a good base and primer, longevity increases by up to 2 hours. No fallouts whatsoever after application. It can easily be removed with any makeup remover for that matter. Impressive staying power!

PROS

  • Very affordable
  • Gorgeous shade selection
  • Very few fall outs
  • Blends easily
  • Staying power & pigmentation is brilliant
  • Soft creamy texture
  • Super Affordable (3 shades for 425)
  • Primer not required to intensify the colors
  • Works really well with all Indian skin tones
  • Compact and easy to carry around
  • The quantity is good enough for the price

CONS

  • Availability
  • Have a little Fallout (only during application)
  • The Brush is merely useless
  • Packaging could have been sturdier
  • Oily lids need a primer to make it last long
  • No mirror provided

RATING 4.5/5 (-0.5 for not so sturdy packing and a bad applicator)

RECOMMENDATION

Yes! I absolutely recommend this particular trio if you are looking for a palette which would be perfect for festival/ wedding season as it would team perfectly with all your ethnic attires. You can’t ask for better quality at this price. I loved the color selection on the whole, shades are sorted out to work on Indian skin. The formula and shades are absolutely fantastic and it’s very reasonably priced too. If at all you have to pick any one product from this range, this must be it!!!!

Will I repurchase?

Yes I am planning to give Daytime neutrals eye shadow a try!

Editor’s Note: I have the basic daytime neutrals one. These are a total value for money. The centre gold shade is to die for!

Have you tried the Studiowest Goldmine Eyeshadow Trio?

Decoding the Makeup Secrets of Adele

Decoding the Makeup Secrets of Adele

By Sanchita

When I think of Adele the only two things that crosses my mind are the deepest ballads and feline eyeliner. I mean, that is the thickest, precise and deepest eyeliner I have seen. No matter what product I have used so far, I simply couldn’t get that look. Thankfully, a couple of months back Adele’s Makeup artist Michael Ashton, who has been working on the singer’s hair and makeup for nine years shown in a YouTube channel of MUA Lisa Eldridge. There was so much to learn from him and I loved the way he had shown the makeup tutorial. So, gathering the most important points from there, I have decoded the makeup secrets of Adele and here’s what you need to know.

Preparing the Skin

Makeup artist Michael Ashton starts prepping the skin with a damp facial tissue soaked in Bioderma Sensibio H2O to wipe off any layer of residual makeup, dirt, grime etc. He advises to use a facial gel or oil kind of product to plump up the skin and hydrate it well enough for the foundation to look flawless. He used a rose facial oil I believe to plump up the skin and which also gives a natural strobing effect without looking greasy, sticky or oily. His favorite product is Aromessence Rose d’Orient Oil Serum for pre foundation technique.

Eye Makeup

He started with a base product which act as a base for eyeshadow as well as primer. He used the MAC Paint Pot Groundwork all over the lid and then soften the crease using a blending brush. He also applied the same pain pot in the lower lash line to give a shadow sort of. Then used the two lightest shade (a golden bronzy light color) from the Tom Ford Nude Dip Eye Color Quad all over the lid and smoothened the line as well. This gave a nice reflective kind of pale look to the eyes, you can also call it neutral.

Infamous Feline Eyeliner

The secret behind that gorgeous feline liner are the gel liner, eye liner and fine liner brush. He uses the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink on the back of your hand and then start drawing a line (as close as you can to your lash line) from the middle of your eyes working it outwards, using a very fine liner brush. Then, he makes the feline stroke giving a cat liner effect. He repeated the lines at least 6-7 times which thickened and deepen the color even more. Ashton states that you can use a cotton bud dipped in Bioderma Sensibio H2O to wipe off any mistakes. After the mascara, he goes back to the eyes, this time with liquid eyeliner, that is, MAC Liquidlast Liner Point Black. He said that he uses a liquid liner with a tar consistency and a fine brush to do a final eyeliner swipe. This builds up intensity and gives a nice depth to the eyes as well.

Dramatic Eyelashes

For the lashes, he used a falsies using Duo lash black glue which gives a well-defined matte charcoal finish. He used a gentle upward lifting motion with the fingers to blend in with the natural lashes. Next, he applied the Diorshow Mascara for the upper lashes. For the lower lashes, he used a small fan brush and started from the roots which would give a better smudged kohl effect. He stated that it won’t matter if the mascara goes a little bit onto the waterline as long as it doesn’t sting.

Strong Brow Game

Before stating the eye makeup, he used a spoolie to brush the eye brows. Then used a soft brow pencil to shape and define them. Clean up the top of your brow using a moisturizer on a small concealer brush and swipe it across the brow. To set the pencil he used a light mix of four brown shades – MAC Concrete, Coquette, Corduroy and Wedge and applied as the brow powder.

Foundation

For the foundation he used Estee Lauder – Double Wear Light and mixed the shades 1.0 and 0.5. He used the lighter shade on the T-zone and inner portion of the face while the darker one in the outer perimeter. He specifically stated that the foundation must be applied on the jaw line and below i.e. towards the neck. This will surely give a nice, smooth and even look. He sets everything with a fine milled compact powder. For the under eyes, he uses the Tom Ford Illuminating Highlight Pen and blends it with a brush.

Contour

For the contour also, he uses a powder palette which is the Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit and mixes the first two colors for the cheek bones. He basically says that a fish face helps to make the contour precise and smooth. He uses an angled blush brush for the contour and applied for the forehead, sides of the nose and jawline. For the blush, he loves the Maybelline cream blush which works really great for blending.

Lip Trick

For the lips, prep and prime the lips with a nourishing lip balm to hydrate the lips well. Then, he used a neutral lip liner to outline and fill the lips slightly. Use a finger to pat and blend the lip liner with the lip balm to give a nice and even neutral look to the lips. Use a shimmery gloss to apply on the centre of the lower and upper lips and blend well. This would give a nice plump effect to the lips naturally.

These are the secrets of Adele’s flawless feline makeup look and I really hope this would help you guys to recreate her looks easily.

Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50 Review

Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50 Review

By Sanchita

INTRODUCTION: Plum has recently launched their Chamomile & White Tea range with a toner, moisturizer and day cream. The range is targeted with combination to oily skin with great benefits from the goodness of Chamomile & White Tea. Today I am going to review the Sheer Matte Day Cream which is an amalgamation of moisturizer and sunscreen and will help the skin a lot in this summer and upcoming monsoon. So, let’s see how the Sheer Matte Day Cream has worked for me after trying it for weeks.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Exposure to UV rays from sunlight and other oxidative factors can cause premature aging, pigmentation, dullness, and dryness in skin. Antioxidants are an essential part of any skincare regime for younger looking brighter skin. Specially designed with tropical weather in mind, our Chamomile & white tea range combines the soothing properties of chamomile with the potent antioxidant property of white tea. The results: A skincare range that prepares defends and revives skin that’s exposed to the elements.

PRICE – 520 INR for 60ml

Ingredients:

MY REVIEW

The Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream is housed inside a medium built sleek white cardboard box with all the necessary information printed on it. The Day Cream actually comes in a rather firm white tube with orange accents of the brand name inscribed on it and a translucent flip open cap. Uncapping the tube, you will find an opening to dispense the product and I feel it is perfect to dish out the right amount of product onto the hand. Judging by the packaging, I surely have a strong notion that it will be a great companion while travelling without creating any mess in your pouch or bag. Personally, I have carried it in my handbag for touchups every 2-3hours and it has never failed once. Overall, the packing is well built.

The consistency of the Day Cream is of thick whipped cream with a light texture in it. The flawless bending and application surely owes to this light weight texture despite having thicker consistency. Having said that, you require only a pea sized amount of the cream for the face and neck and you can spare the generous amount for sure. The smell is what surely surprises me with pleasantness and softness. It has a fresh faded smell of artificial flora touch with the blend of Chamomile and after application it disappears, simply leaving behind a trail of freshness.

The color of the Day Cream is white which resembles majority of the sunscreen but I never experienced any whitish layer upon blending. The cream acts both as moisturizer and sunscreen and a lazy girl like me couldn’t ask for more. I happily skip my moisturizer and apply this which generously hydrates and protects my skin from sun. I would say this is a perfect pick for summers and monsoons in a typical tropical climate like in India. Here the humidity rules the day and the lesser quantity of product you slather on the face, better it is for you. Manufactured with a SPF of 50, this is surely an ideal sun protection formula for the skin. However, I am not sure why they didn’t include the PA+ ratings as I am not sure whether it is a broad spectrum or not. The cream needs to be blended thoroughly onto the skin to prevent any whitish layer and surprisingly, if you use the right face wash for you, it will never cling onto the dry patches at all.

Since it claims to be sheer, it won’t contribute much to evening out the skin tone, but surely brighten up the complexion with a radiant glow. I have oily skin which is surely exaggerated in summers. This particular cream is well suited for combination to oily skin but dry skin won’t like it at all. This is because, upon blending the cream settles down and gives a soft matte touch to the skin deprive of any hydration which is ideal for oily skin in summer. I noticed the T-zone getting slightly oily after few hours but the rest of the face stays oil free. Having acne prone skin, I was relieved with the fact that it never broke me out despite applying during hottest and humid temperature. It also doesn’t clog the pores and let the skin breathe on its own.

The best thing about the product is the ingredient list. Firstly it is enriched with the goodness of Chamomile & White Tea. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which soothes and neutralizes the skin. On the other hand, the White Tea is rich in antioxidants and helps the skin fight oxidative damage that results from sun exposure while Gingko biloba and olive leaf extracts help skin fight free radical damage. The cream is also paraben-free, SLS-free, phthalate-free & vegan and won’t harm the skin in the long run as well.

The tube will last around 2months approximately when used, so to judge the price tag it is surely a bit high priced but rest assured, it is worth the money due to the versatility and ingredients.

OVERALL – The Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50 comes in a white flip open tube with a light texture that blends well and protects the skin with its SPF 50 and acts as a moisturizer as well as day cream. I loved the brightening part and it is well suited for combination to oily skin while dry skin may skip this.

WHAT I LIKED

  • It is housed in a white opaque flip open tube and great for travelling.
  • The texture is of the cream is light with thick consistency.
  • It blends really well on skin without any whitish layer.
  • Brightens up the skin little bit.
  • It has a very refreshing smell of Chamomile.
  • Acts as a day cream as well as sunscreen.
  • It has SPF 50
  • Keeps the skin soft, matte and shine free.
  • It is enriched with the goodness of Chamomile & White Tea.
  • The cream is also paraben-free, SLS-free, phthalate-free & vegan.

WHAT I DISLIKED

  • The PA+ is missing.
  • Will not suit dry skin.
  • Slightly pricey.

RATING

Quality: 4.5/5

Value for money: 3/5

Availability: 4/5

Overall rating: 4.5/5

RECOMMENDATION – The Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50 is well recommended for combination to oily skin which will keep the skin oil free and hydrated even in summers and doesn’t even break you out.

Editor’s Note: This matte day cream with sunscreen sounds really good. Very detailed review Sanchita

Colorbar Perfect Match BB Beauty Balm Review, Swatches

Colorbar Perfect Match BB Beauty Balm Review, Swatches

By Devika

Hi beautyholics!!!

Hope you all are doing well. Summers are here in full swing and carrying a full coverage makeup base such as a foundation and concealer becomes a task especially for everyday go to looks. One just can’t stand by putting on thick layers of base. But we can’t skip it as we do need a sheer flawless look too. As I was facing hard time in sweaty summer days I decided to give a BB cream a shot and I chose COLORBAR PERFECT MATCH BB BEAUTY BALM (vanilla crème)WITH SPF 20 and how it fared for me let’s find out!!

Price 550 INR for 29 gm (BUY HERE)

Shelf life is of 30 months

Availability: Across all colorbar counters and also online at amazon , flipkart ,nykaa, jabong

Ingredients:

Colorbar Claims: Makeup and skincare come together to create a perfect match! This multi-benefit beauty balm hydrates, smoothes , protects, and corrects skin with sheer coverage in one effortless step. Enhanced with a blend of potent botanicals and antioxidants, the fresh and airy formula boosts luminosity, diminishes the signs of aging and repairs uneven skin tone while protecting it with broad-spectrum sun protection.

Description: Created using ‘Perfect Match’ technology which makes the BB cream adapt to your skin tone and blend perfectly. It provides sheer coverage with radiant glow.

  •  Paraben free, safe for all skin type
  • Contains Apple Extract and Aloe Vera for nourshing, protecting and moisturising skin
  • Contains SPF20 with UVA/UVB filters for broad spectrum sun protection
  • Actives from USA

Packaging is quite simple. It comes in a broad, rectangular, flattened, opaque skin colored, squeeze tube packaging (with product claim printed) with a silver colored rectangular twist off lid with shade name and number labelled. It is enclosed in the typical colorbar silver rectangular cardboard packaging with product claims and ingredients written. It is travel friendly and perfect for carrying to work. Packaging definitely is quite big for the small quantity it carries. The nozzle of the tube and the tube itself becomes dirty and looks gross just in a few days of usage

Shades – Colorbar Perfect Match BB Cream comes in 3 shades Vanilla Creme, Honey Glaze & Cinnamon Swirl. The shade which I own is 001- Vanilla Crème and it is perfect for my medium to fair skin tone. As far as the color is concerned, the shade looks warm when swatched but once applied, it sets into my perfect shade without giving a white cast.

Texture: The formula is creamy, whippy and a pea sized drop is enough for your entire face and goes on smoothly without settling into fine lines. Blends quite well into the skin without leaving white cast behind and gives a beautiful matte finish. The product is enriched with antioxidants and SPF 20 so it is great for everyday use without having to worry about daily use of foundations and concealers. It gives you near flawless coverage. It does not make the skin appear cakey or blotchy; however it dries quickly so you have to be quick with blending. I use my fingers to push the product into the skin. Formula is non greasy, matte and feels comfortable on my oily to combination acne prone skin but for my dry skin ladies I would suggest to use a good moisturizer beneath. I have been using it for quite a long time now and I haven’t faced any breakouts with it.

Pigmentation and coverage: The coverage is more towards the sheer side, perfect for daily usage. It won’t cover up imperfections, but blur them to a certain degree giving a natural look. Those having dark circles might need to use a concealer but I skip it usually. It gives a very natural, glowing look to my face and feels very light on the face. It doesn’t melt with sweat. Well, this cream claims to repair the skin as well, but I didn’t notice any such change in my skin but yes my acne prone skin hasn’t broken out yet. Though it has a SPF of 20 but I do apply a layer of sunscreen as the sun rays are way too sharp these days. It has a fresh fragrance which faints after a while.

Staying power: It lasts on me for good 5 hours, with the T zone getting shiny after about 3 hours so it slides away from there faster, but I top the BB cream with compact on most days, and then I am set for the whole day. On rest of the face it stays on for good 5+ hours

Pros:

  • Easy, convenient packaging
  • Keeps my face oil free for 5-6 hours.
  • Blends effortlessly
  • No parabens.
  • Doesn’t settle in fine lines or pores.
  • Didn’t break me out.
  • Light texture
  • Hides minor imperfections
  • Enriched with SPF 20 and antioxidants.
  • 3 Shades to choose from
  • Easily available.

Cons

  • Won’t conceal acne, blemishes or under eye circles.
  • Dry skinned ladies need to apply a moisturizer beneath it
  • Didn’t repair my skin, unlike its claims.
  • Packaging acquires an old look very quickly
  • Priced on the higher side
  • SPF should have been more than 20
  • Dries quickly so you have to be careful not to take too long for application of the cream.

Overall

I absolutely love the way this Colorbar Perfect Match BB Cream evens out my oily skin and makes it look so matte. This product is suitable for those who doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of putting layers of concealers and foundations every day for causal purposes. Just grab it, dab it and rush to work!!SPF 20 is an added advantage and no breakouts with this one so a big thumbs up. Though Price is the only downside as we know how affordable other BB creams are in market.

Will I buy it again? The coverage of this particular BB Cream for daily wear is beautiful and I really like this product so yes, I will definitely pick this one up again. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

Rating: 4/5

Editor’s Note: That’s a very nice and detailed review Devika. This sounds quite good.

Lotus Herbals Ecostay Super Finish Mousse SPF 20 Review, Swatches, FOTD

Lotus Herbals Ecostay Super Finish Mousse SPF 20 Review, Swatches, FOTD

Hi guys,

I have been trying out the Lotus Herbals Ecostay Super Finish Mousse since the past few weeks and here’s my take on it.

What the Company claims: This feather light oil-free texture won’t feel greasy or heavy delivering all day flawless natural looking matte skin. It will easily hide blemishes and spots on face creating a perfect make-up base.

Special Features:

Unique feather light oil free texture
Super easy to blend & evens out the skin tone
Non-comedogenic – it won’t clog pores and is safe for sensitive skin
Natural matte finish
Waterproof Formula
100% Vegetarian
SPF 20 for UV protection
Enriched with Jojoba extracts – It promotes skin healing, treats acne and acts as a natural moisturizer for the skin

How to Use:
Cleanse your skin.
Apply moisturiser on whole face & neck.
Apply Ecostay Mousse in dots on moisturised skin, blend well in sweeping strokes using fingertips to achieve silk-smooth finish and ultimate coverage.

MRP: Rs.675/- for 15g

Shades:

  • Royal Pearl
  • Bright Angel
  • Royal Ivory

Ingredients: Jojoba extracts

It comes in this very small glass jar, it’s quite tiny than I expected. This is easy to carry even in your sling. It comes with a metallic pink cap, there is no white separator in between though.

The texture is whipped cream/mousse like and it does feel silicony which makes it a good primer that will smoothen out the skin and/or pores. It has a strong floral smell, but does not bother much and goes away in a minute. I am glad it comes with SPF 20.

I have the shade Bright Angel which is the mid shade I believe. It is a little yellow for me, but when blended on the skin, it did not look that yellow and somehow matched the skin.

The finish is completely dry and matte, you do not to top it up with a powder. This is perfect for oily skin, but if you have dry skin, make sure you moisturize heavily, coz otherwise it will accentuate dry patches.

The coverage is light and more like a tinted moisturiser for everyday use. It evens out the skin and covers any redness. You will need a concealer separately for dark circles and acne scars. Here I have used only the mousse and nothing else, and you can see my dark circles and few scars showing through. When using for an occasion, I would advise using this as a base as it makes for a good primer and smoothens out the skin and stays long.

Staying power is pretty decent, you don’t need powder touch ups as it’s matte finish, only the nose/T zone gets a little shiny after the usual 4-5 hours which is what normally happens on any skin.

I wish they had more shades though, only three options are less. Plus the quantity of 15g is also too less for the price, it should have been 30g atleast. Also only jojoba extracts is mentioned, I prefer full ingredient list.

Overall I would say it’s a daily wear mousse which gives light coverage and stays for a decent time. It smoothens the pores and gives a nice, matte look. It’s good for office or college wear and can also work as a primer. I would recommend this for oily skin. And dry skin too, but with a good, heavy moisturiser.

Free from parabens.

MRP:€29.00 excl. shipping (3.5 g / 0.12 oz e) (INR 2200 each approx)

Ingredients:

Tips: To make lips soft and full again, use daily for at least four weeks. Can be worn on its own or layered under your favourite lipstick or gloss: allow yourself to play with shades and textures. Apply the nude shade as a treatment and base at the beginning of your make-up to prepare your lips. Use the nude shade as a night treatment for super soft and healthier lips when waking up. Frame your lips with a nude shade of our Long-lasting Lip Pencil to enhance the lasting power of the Tinted Luxe Balms.

Shades:

  • A Pinch of Nude: A juicy, transparent and luminous light beige/nude
  • Sip of Pink: A juicy, transparent and luminous soft raspberry-pink with light peach undertones
  • Specks of Cerise: A juicy, transparent and luminous shade – like crimson-red cherries

To start with the packaging, it is the most luxurious lip balms I ever owned! (And most expensive too) It has a thick black metallic packaging, the outer cover is hardcore metal and no plastic is used anywhere. It has a magentic closure and it’s quite heavy. It has the RBR trademark symbol on top of the cover and a floral self print on the case.

The formula is the best I have ever tried, it melts in contact with skin or lips. But it is not so soft that it just breaks, you have to be careful in summers though, because it is made of rich oils and butters. It moisturizes and softens the driest of lips in 15-20 minutes!

These are aptly named ‘Tinted Luxe Balms’ coz these are pigmented and the tint stays for a long time. They feel amazingly light weight on the lips, while hydrating them all the time. These won’t cover pigmented lips though, as they are lip balms after all.

The nude shade ‘A Touch of Nude’ is a clear lip balm with very fine gold shimmer and can be worn anytime, even night time as mentioned in Tips.

Sip of Pink is the most beautiful everyday soft pink

Specks of Cerise is a deep wine but very wearable.

Here are the swatches..

I absolutely love these and highly recommend these if you like investing in luxurious lip balms once in a while. The other two pigmented shades are great for dry lips like mine for regular use, where one wants a rich lip balm but also some nice deep colour on the lips.

These are definitely on the expensive side and availability is also an issue. But the quality is top notch, which only a few brands would come close to. I have not come across any RBR product untill yet with which I am disappointed with or have not liked.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Welcome to the Pleasuredome Review, Swatches

By Simran

“Beauty is how you feel inside , and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical”

Hello everyone!

Today i am going to review the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome. I was not into eye shadows until last year since i couldn’t figure out how to use it. Haven’t we all been there? We just level up by trial and errors and reach the pro level.

The salvation palettes are limited edition eye shadow palettes which come in 10 different variants, which are; Unicorns Unite, What are you waiting for?, Girls on film, Run boy run, Welcome to the pleasuredome, Dia de los muertos, Give them Nightmares, Colour chaos, Girl panic and Hard day.

All the palettes consist of 6 matte and 12 shimmery or metal finish eyeshadows.

I bought Welcome to the Pleasuredome since it had eye shadows perfect for a quirky or smokey eye look and i got too bored of my pink and nude palettes.

Claims: Salvation is here! Why a Salvation? For the first time we have combined Shimmer and Matte Shades in a series of exciting Limited Edition Palettes with 18 shades of super high pay off Impact. These Palettes are in beautiful compact with large full size mirror for the first time in our series of palettes. We hope this is what you have been waiting for? We have assembled this as the perfect mix of nudes and naturals for day, moving to smokier by night. 12 shimmers and 6 Mattes inside with full length mirror.

Ingredients:

Price: Rs. 1350/- for a palette consisting 16 shades.

Packaging: Can we talk about how intriguing the outer packaging is? i fell in love with it. The palette is a classic sleek black palette, the material of the palette feels a bit cheap though. There is a full size compact mirror provided in the palette which is actually really handy. The palette closes with a click and is quite sturdy and can be carried in your handbag. There is a useless sponge tip applicator provided in the palette but i just never use it, who uses it anyways?

My take on Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

I was having high expectations from this palette since Makeup Revolution is an affordable and trustworthy brand and the product aced all my expectations. The shadows are highly pigmented and the shades provided in the palette are so mesmerising. I usually use the matte shades in my crease as a transition colour and the shimmery shades go on the lid.

You can create a classic smokey eye from this palette since the shade Never Doing What I am Told is the matte-est black you will ever find.

Shades like Sell it by hour & Shooting stars never stop, There goes a Supernova give a metallic finish which i absolutely love.

Welcome to the Pleasuredome & Xanadu can be used as a highlighter for your face; who doesn’t like multi tasking products?

The shadows can last you the whole day and i have actually mistakenly slept with my makeup on and these shadows did not even budge an inch.

Pros of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • Highly pigmented
  • Lasting power is amazing
  • Decently priced
  • Full size compact mirror provided

Cons of Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette in Welcome to the Pleasuredome:

  • A brush not provided, but a sponge tip applicator.
  • Contains parabens

Rating: 5/5

Editor’s Note: The shades are quite pretty Simran, as you rightly mentioned perfect for smokey eyes. Loved it.

Top 10 Kama Ayurveda Products, Prices, Buy Online

Top 10 Kama Ayurveda Products, Prices, Buy Online

By Archana

Today am here with one more ayuvedic brand – Kama Ayurveda. Most beauty enthusiasts would already be aware of it. But when I was talking about this to one of my office teammates, they were joking about the name of the brand. So just to clarify for new people, Kama means desire. Kama Ayurveda – the brand emphasizes the desire for harmony between the physical, mental and spirtitual realms. Only when the mind and the body are connected, one can achieve perfect health. And perfect health gives perfect skin! So desire perfect health! Desire perfect skin! That is why Ayurveda is more powerful than English medicines and chemical products, which focus on curing a particular symptom.

Let’s see the top 10 Kama Ayurveda products you need to try.

1. Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Ayurvedic Night Serum (Price: Rs.1890 for 12ml) (BUY HERE)

By far, this is the brand’s best selling product. It is an anti-ageing serum and suitable for those above 25+ years who are looking to start an anti-ageing routine. Though its an oil based serum, it can be used even by oily skin people. From the various beauty blogger reviews I have checked, it doesn’t cause any whiteheads or acne. The main ingredient is saffron blended along with vetiver, sandalwood, lotus and licorice. It works on reducing fine lines, fades dark spots and gives a soft glowing skin. One thing though, the brand has hiked the price too high and its just 12ml!

2. Nalpamaradi Thailam Skin Brightening Treatment (Price: Rs.595 for 100ml) (BUY HERE)

This is a more cost effective version of the above Kumkumadi. If you do not wish to spend too much on Kumkumadi, you can go for this. It is a skin-lightening and de-tanning oil for both face and body. But if you have acne-prone skin, better not use this for face. Its not as miraculous as the above one, but works well in lightening and removing tan while giving glowing skin. You can use it on hands and legs as well.

3. Rose Jasmine Face Cleanser (Price: Rs.375 for 50ml and Rs.675 for 100ml) (BUY HERE)

Just as the name suggests, its a lovely, gentle cleanser suitable for all skin types. The calming and relaxing scent makes the otherwise routine face washing experience, a pleasant one, which you will look forward to (from personal experience 🙂 ). It cleanses skin well giving a refreshed feeling while the mild salicylic acid content in it helps to control breakouts.

4. Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub (Price: Rs.995 for 50g) (BUY HERE)

This is a pure luxury scrub formulated with kumkumadi oil and finely ground sweet almond along with liquorice, vetiver and wild himalayan cherries. It exfoliates away the dead cells and gives smooth, soft and brighter skin. Also helps to lighten pigmentation and scars. You can notice a glowing complexion with continuous usage.

5. Kama Ayurveda Pure Vetiver Water (Price:Rs.175 for 50ml and Rs.645 for 200ml)

For those who love a cool, refreshing mist, this is a perfect option. It instantly hydrates and balances the pH of the skin and relaxes the mind with its calming, earthy scent. For those who prefer the floral jasmine fragrance, they can go for the Pure Mogra Water.

6. Mridul Soap-Free Cleanser (Price: Rs.425 for 40g) (BUY HERE)

This is a natural powder-based cleanser made of a traditional Ayurvedic combination of oatmeal, green gram, almond, neem, sandalwood, turmeric, rose and fennel. Just imagine all the goodness going directly into your skin! Its really food for skin.. It gives a fresh and radiant face. Also acts as a mild exfoliator.

7. Lavanya Natural Plant Mask (Price: Rs.395 for 25g)

This is an ayurvedic mask for pigmentation, acne scars and blemishes. It purifies the skin and deep cleanses. If you are suffering from oily, blemished and acne-prone skin, you should definitely give this one a try. Unlike clay masks, this is like a powdered-leaves based pack. It is gentle enough to be used even daily.

8. Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil (Price: Rs.515 for 100ml and Rs.995 for 200ml) (BUY HERE)

It is a herbal hair oil which helps to treat hair loss, dandruff and premature greying. It contains a blend of amla and liquorice in a base of pure sesame oil and milk. After washing your hair, you can feel it soft, smooth, shiny and naturally conditioned. With regular use, it also promotes hair growth.

9. Organic Cold-Pressed Aloe Vera Juice (Price: Rs.500 for 100ml)

The reason I mentioned aloe vera juice in the list is because not many brands sell it. And making aloe vera juice at home is a painful process. Kama Ayurveda has 100% organic cold pressed aloe vera juice. Just use it regularly and see how your face glows and you get a clear complexion. It also helps in treating sunburn, rashes, blemishes and acne. Also, you can use it to mix your herbal hair packs.

10. Rose Jasmine Hand Cleanser and Hand Lotion (Price: Rs.895 for 200ml) (BUY HERE)

Our hands and foot deserve the ultimate care, yet we ignore them the most. Hands show signs of ageing very soon as we subject it to harsh soaps often. Show some TLC to your hands with Kama Ayurveda’s gentle hand cleanser and hand lotion. It has a nice, delicate floral fragrance and makes your hands soft and moisturized.

Apart from these, their sulphate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners are definitely recommened. Also, I have tried couple of their massage oils – meditate & energize variants and found them a good relaxing experience for winters. And if you wish to buy essential oils/virgin cold-pressed carrier oils, Kama Ayurveda ones, even if slightly expensive, are worth it, as they are in purest form.

So which Kama Ayurveda products you have tried? Share your experiences with them below.

Editor’s Note: Loved the post Archana, I have used the Kumkumadi Tailam before my wedding, used it every night, and absolutely loved it. I still have some left and would start using it again soon. Apart from that, I love the Rose, Lavender and Vetiver Water. I have the Mridul Cleanser and have to start using it, also the Bringadi Oil.
