Maybelline White Super Fresh Compact Powder Shell Review, FOTD

Hi guys,

I have been using this Maybelline White Super Fresh with Pure Perlite 12 Hour Whitening + Perfecting Compact Powder (wow, that’s quite a mouthful) since the past 2-3 days and here is my review..

What the Company claims: How does White Super Fresh stand out compared to all you other compact powders?

– It lasts up to 12 hours.
– No dabbing, washing or touch-ups necessary.
– Keeps you fresh and fair throughout the day.
– Absorbs sweat and doesn’t let your skin get patchy.
–  Available in 3 shades for your skin tone: Pearl (Light to Medium), Shell (Medium) & Coral (Medium to Dark).
– Priced at Rs.150.
– Has Pure Perlite and UV Filters
– Dermatologist tested and suitable for everyday use

Here is my review on Youtube too..

It comes in this white compact packaging with a mirror and a sponge. The sponge has a rubber finish on one side, so it can only be used through the one cotton side.

I have the shade Shell which is meant for medium skin tones. I am glad that it has yellow undertones, by the name ‘White’ going on the compact I was not very sure. But thankfully it matches me perfectly and does not give a whitish cast.

It has a soft floral smell which is quite pleasing. The packaging is sturdy enough and the mirror and sponge make it very travel friendly. It gives light to medium coverage which is buildable i.e one swipe will give you light coverage and going over 2-3 times will give you medium coverage. But it won’t hide your acne scars or dark circles which means you will need a separate concealer for that.

And even though I use a rich moisturiser, it does accentuate my dry patches. The powder is very finely milled and smooth but it not very creamy, though it it not very dry and powdery kinds too, somewhere in between.

Coming to the staying power and no touch up claim, it does stay put thoughout the day but I need to touch up my oily T-zone once after 5-6 hours as it gets slightly shiny. One slight touch up and I am good to go through the day. If you have dry skin, you won’t need any touch ups and if you have oily skin, one touch up and you will be sorted. It does the mattifying job amazingly well and oil does stay away from your skin through the day.

It blends seamlessly and merges with your skin tone and it actually keeps the skin looking fresh throughout the day.

The only con I would say is it doesn’t have sunscreen protection, but then we don’t rely on compact powders for sunscreen protection anyway. Also I am not sure how the other two shades are and if the darkest shade Coral is a match enough for all skin tones, but I believe 4-5 shades could have been better. I am not very pleased with the ‘Whitening’ claim too.

Here is the shade ‘Shell’ on me, I only have this compact ON and no other base..

The best part is the price and quantity, at Rs.150/- and 8g of product, it is by far one of the most economical compact powders right now.

Overall, I would say it’s a very nice budget compact and perfect for oily to combination skin. It does it’s job of keeping oil at bay very well. If you have dry skin, you will need a rich moisturiser with this. Highly recommended!

I am not sure if there are 27 shades or 32 shades, or maybe they have added 5 new shades.

Here are the 27 shades..

Maybelline’s Color Show range, whether it be nail paints or lipsticks, is a big hit! Coz they offer so many shades and are so economical plus they offer quality too!

Today I am reviewing the shades Fuchsia Flare,Orange Icon, Red Rush and Cherry Crush.

Fuchsia Flare is from the Pink family, Orange Icon is from the Brown family and Red Rush and Cherry Crush from the Red family.

To start with the packaging, they come in a black packaging with a thin transparent strip in between which denotes which color family the shade belongs to, isn’t that cool and makes it easy to identify too unless of course if you have more shades from the same color family.

They have a nice, sweet candy smell which I love. The colors are super pigmented and glide on like butter. All the shades are true to its names. They have a creme finish, so neither glossy nor matte.

These swatches are just 2 light swipes.

L-R: Fuchsia Flare,Orange Icon,Red Rush,Cherry Crush

They stay on for 3-4 hours and leave behind a stain, especially the darker colors. They can survive light snacks and drinks but not full meal. Also these are not transfer proof.

Here are these on moi..

Clockwise from left: Fuchsia Flare,Orange Icon,Red Rush,Cherry Crush

Fuchsia Flare is a true blue based fuchsia pink ( no hint of neon)

Orange Icon is a light orange color. It reminds of those orange wedges shaped sweets we used to get as kids and also orange gola 😀 It is slightly on the sheer side and goes a bit patchy.

Red Rush is a deep warm red which makes you teeth look whiter. It is the most pigmented of the lot.

Cherry Crush is a super pretty carrot pink..my favourite of the lot.

Overall, I would say these are perfect in terms of pricing, quality, quantity, pigmentation, shades available. I have no cons for these, the staying power could have been better but then no creme finish lipsticks stay longer than that anyway. Highly recommended!!

Maybelline The Colossal Liner Black Review,Swatches

Maybelline The Colossal Liner Black Review,Swatches

Its quick dry formula ensures a 12 hour staying power and quick application. Add this kajal to your vanity kit and enjoy stunningly beautiful eyes everyday.

Here’s why you’ll love it:

  • Has the intensity of a kajal and defines like a liner
  • Customized Flexi Tip applicator ensures mistake-proof application
  • Smudge-free liner has an intense black finish
  • Lasts for up to 12 hours

Price: Rs. 425 for 1.2g (Bought it from Nykaa)

I am a big big fan of Maybelline HyperSharp Liner..you can see HERE. It is my go to liner and I use it everytime, so when Maybelline launched the New Colossal Liner, I was eager to try it out.

I am a thin eyeliner person, I usually go for kajal and when I line my eyes, its a thin line just for definition, rarely I go for a thick liner. So HyperSharp was kind of perfect for me since it is 0.05mm tip whereas this one has a 0.4mm tip. Many did not like HyperSharp as they prefer thick liner and had to go over again and again with HyperSharp, Colossal is your answer ladies. But with HyperSharp, I too had to go over atleast 2 times on the line.

It comes in a pen form with a cap, a thin, flexible tip which goes on easy and smooth on the eyes. In terms of intensity, it is a rich black. I believe a little more pigmented and rich than HyperSharp too.

It dries quickly and gives a nice wing and perfect definition for everyday. I need not go over 2-3 times with this as I had to with HyperSharp.

Comparison of Maybelline HyperSharp Liner and Maybelline The Colossal Liner

  • Both are prices at Rs.425 but Colossal liner offers 1.2g whereas HyperSharp had 0.5g
  • HyperSharp is thinner with a 0.05mm tip and The Colossal has a 0.4mm tip
  • The Colossal Liner is a bit more pigmented than HyperSharp

I like both of them, HyperSharp was a favourite untill now, but if I have to choose one, I will go with Colossal coz I think the pigmentation and intensity is better and also lining eyes is a little quicker with it. Price wise, Colossal Liner comes with more than double the quantity so it would last longer too.

It stays on for 7-8 hours with minimal smudging, but it is not waterproof. Comes off easily with water. Can be carried along anywhere and everywhere.

My new current favourite..absolutely recommend this! I hope they come up with many different shades in a similar pen format and tip with equally amazing pigmentation.
